I have a Ferris is700z like yours with a 61" deck and I love it. I'm retired and my wife and I mow 25 lawns to supplement our social security. We started out with two John Deere x320 lawn tractors until i found my used Ferris with 9 hours on it. The biggest drawback to it is the weight. The JD weighs 750lbs while the Ferris weighs 1100lbs. My x320 will go in the wet while the Ferris will get stuck in the blink of an eye. The JD has a 48" deck which will get into tight places the 60" Ferris can't get. So I'd never be without that little tractor because it'll go where the Ferris won't. The Ferris has the speed and width of cut. As far as that goes it blows the doors off that tractor. Until of course when my wife goes flying by me while I'm sitting there stuck. I loved your exclamation "Lord have mercy" when you took off with that 3300. Those zero turns do fly. Great comparison. I especially liked your comment about mowing on the real world.
I've had a Ferris IS1500Z since 2008, best purchase I've ever made. Built like a tank, mow very rough terrain, plus bush trails and has needed zero repairs. A tip about using the steering handles, I rest my forearms on the arm rests, and then put the handles between my ring and middle fingers lower down on the handles. The controls are so precise and easy to move all that is necessary is to move your fingers abit. Much better control than holding the handles at the top like shown in the video.
I took about an hour to set my Ferris up yesterday. I set up the seat, the controls and pedal for me. It 8s even better. I was disappointed when I finished my yard too soon.
I just bought a Ferris ISX2200. I was originally going with the ISX800 which has the same suspension as your IS700. But I’m almost 72 years and want to save my back from potential stress so I went to the ISX2200 which has the same suspension as the ISX3200 and a similar seat but with a slightly lower backrest. I have lots of tree roots so my lawn is bumpy in places. I think I made the right choice. It’s like taking your Lazy Boy out for a ride.
Man that Big Ferris is Awesome!! I want a 72" Deck. Full suspension! 12 MPH is like 75 MPH on the road! Super awesome! Great video! You are like watching Prime Time! Thanks!
Bought a Ferris isx 3300 and had them install the Cool Top powered fan canopy. Here’s what I’ll say- AMAZING!! Btwn the ride and speed of the Ferris and the added cool/shaded air blowing down like a wind screen, the bugs stay away, I’m out of the sun and the air flow is incredible. These two products together is a match made in heaven for this Type 1 diabetic in the summer.
I have a walk behind SCAG 52" with a sulky that I've had for about 12 years. Kawi 17 hp motor, we used it in our lawncare/landscaping business we had for about 4 of those 12 years. Properly maintained, well treated, and she's always first pull start, does a great job ... HOWEVER, The property we bought 3 years ago is mostly, somewhat, flat but VERY bumpy, one spot is very hilly, I've operated and or owned almost every manufacturer mower except the Ferris. My neighbor just bought a 52" Ferris a couple years ago, and loves it! He actually told me that he and his wife see me mowing and feel bad for me, due to the violently bumpy ride....it's actually easier on my back and bones to walk it instead of using the sulky. lol. Anyway, everyone I've talked to has said the same thing: Yes, you're gonna pay, but you'll probably never buy another mower....Our property is 1 acre, I do think the full Ferris 4 link suspension is what I want, 52" deck, Best seat they offer, Kawasaki motor, etc, just having a hard time wrapping my head around spending 12k or so on a mower ..... thoughts?
I bought an isx2200 a few years back and it’s definitely a huge difference over a regular ride on or none suspension ztr. I used my neighbors box store zero turn and it beat me pretty bad. The Ferris is like a Caddy compared to the other ztrs. Though I would not suggest mowing at full speed. I generally mow my 1 acre at 5 to 6 mph for a good cut, but I’m at a disadvantage as I need to overseed to fill in my yard so it will have more lift.
My neighbor has an older 20 year exmark and it does good for him. I like how the Ferris compared to the new exmark. I now know which to get now. Thank you for your great honest straight forward video. Ferris appears to make an outstanding product. 73 Earnest K5EWM 👍.
Good video Tony, I just bought the new Stihl RZ972i Built by Ferris with the Briggs and Stratton Vanguard 40hp with the Oil Guard. I test drove Hustler, Exmark, Bad Boy and John Deere( z970r with Tweels). The ride quality of the Stihl/Ferris was far Superior than any that I test drove. I cut approximately 7 acres, I don't use this mower in a commercial environment I will never cut grass at 10,11,or 12 MPH, How comfortable the ride is maters more to me than how fast I can cut. Stihl/Ferris in my opinion is the best riding Zero Turn on the market. This is the first Zero tun mower for me also.
I have the Stihl much like the smaller Ferris and I love the suspension. I also have a scags that i've had for several years and the ride is no comparison for the stihl and scags. Scags is a great mower and not taking anything away from them but that Stihl ride is incredible.
I spent hours watching and reading, some commenting on this video. I will say this. Your video work is awesome! Camera person did fantastic. Editing was also awesome. It was worth the time I spent. Hope you have great results in compensation for your time. There are always going to be know it all's. There are always people out there that will only comment negative crap. Haters. Clearly you were testing machines and it was not all about quality of the cut. Smooth ride with as fast as you can to get the job done. My wife laughs about how fast I cut the grass. We are all bias to an extent. I own two Scag mowers and do not have one acre of grass on my property, so I cut two of my neighbors' properties just for fun. Thank you for the video and your service. I am just the pilot so don't know anything.
The ex mark laser, Z is the dominant mower in Orlando. You do see Scag and now very little John Deere. I guess it was two years ago. John Deere took all their mowers out of there, dealer net work and ship them out to their farm style stores. We have two Ferris dealers in the Orlando area. It would seem that most of the people that owned Ferris in Orlando one point in time have now switched over to Toro.
I don't do landscaping anymore. I did about 10 years ago. We had older scags, Hustler Z, & Exmark. The old Scags were the only mowers that would go all season without breaking down. I did help a friend a couple years later and he had 2 Commercial Ferris mowers. I really liked them and they were very smooth. He says he hasnt had any major issues with them over the years.
@TonysTractorAdventure I'm really expecting great things. I see the different videos on the brand and everyone seems to be saying the same thing. How smooth it rides and just how much better it really is. I'll give you my thoughts here after Friday 😀
1999 New holland mc 35 diesel four wheel drive with a 74 inch front deck mower...Still running strong AT 3100 HOURS and heavy enough where your not bouncing out of your seat~~~ Great for 4 plus acres totally farm ready for rough terrain....
THERE'S A FEW MODELS. I HAD TO WAIT 10 YEARS TO GET ONE AT A GOOD PRICE UNDER 5K MINE IS A NEW HOLLAND MC 35... AROUND THE SAME YEAR 99 HUSTLER MADE ONE AS WELL.OR EVEN KABOTA OFFERS THE SAME IDEA ON THE F SERIES IN 2024 FOR 26K @@TonysTractorAdventure
What a great video. Had me laughing when you were flying across the lawn at high speed. It was nice seeing and hearing the comparison of all 3 mowers. The older I get the more I’m all about comfort. I see a Ferris in my future.
Wow, that is one of the best reviews I have seen or comparisons I have seen. If Ferris isn't paying you they should for this video. I had bought the ferris Z 1000 I bought it new in 2003 and I mowed my own lawn with it until 2001. That was an awesome mower but after I sold it I bought the 800 ISX Ferris which has the independent suspension. The 1000 Z did not have a suspension. And you can tell the difference for sure. I am just a homeowner and just do my own lawn. But if I was a commercial lawn care provider I cannot imagine mowing all day on a lawn without independent suspension like the Ferris. Makes me want to sell my 800 and go for the big 3300 but that would be overkill for sure LOL. Great video!
I bought a zt elite 60", been a great mower, had a couple chips on my deck, tractor supplie got me 2 bottles of touch up paint for free, great service. I live in Arkansas. Good luck on your next purchase.
Exmark hands down a better mower and will last alot long than a ferris will. Too many pivot pionts on a ferris. Exmark lots bettter stripping. Go trade in a ferris. There not worth anything g
I bought a new Exmark Z 60's with the full floating deck suspension and have always been impressed. I had a 48" John Deere zero turn and I wasn't impressed mowing a 5 acre area at home so I boug
We have the 2020 Ferris ISX3300 32 hp Vangaurd 61" Love it . The ride is like a Cadillac. We mow about 5 acers . Found out this year using ethanol free gas uses alot less gas .
Thanks for the review even though I will probably never own a bigger commercial mower like these. An FYI From the manual for my Ariens zero turn: IMPORTANT: Engaging the PTO knob with the throttle lever set lower than fast position can cause excessive belt wear. ALWAYS use fast position when engaging the PTO|.
The big commercial mowers both say to engage the PTO at half throttle or less in their manuals. You're probably a little bit different in their setups. I do appreciate your watching our video.
I would engage the pto first then lower the deck once full throttle applied. You most likely would do things different once you are really a zero turn trained guy. Like never turn 180 degrees with one wheel not moving. Kind of tears up the grass. Learned that the hard way. BTW I run Scags, your ride is better by far. I am also 70 years old and want a Farris lol. @@TonysTractorAdventure
I think the shocks have a adjustment collar on the bottom that you can adjust the preload of the chock for a softer ride . Check it out Thanks for the info on all the mowers
This Spring I got a 27 hp Toro Titan HD that is comparable to your Ferris. It is a great machine with basically the same seat as the Exmark you were running. It has been a great mower for me. It cut my personal mowing time down from almost 3 hours to just under 1 hour. The Toro I have is very close to the Exmark you had, EXCEPT it has a suspension, but not quite as well done as the Ferris. I'm one of those cops you mentioned that cuts grass and does tractor work with my LS MT125 as a side hustle. I will say that Ferris has the suspension systems figured out for sure. If I was 8-10 hours a day on a mower for a living, I'd likely be running a Ferris for the comfort as long as they hold up comparably well to the Exmarks and Toros.
My Ferris is1500, 21 years, 25 hp Kawasaki. 48” 2acres. A real tank, a duplicate of that 700. All maint done by me. Belts, pulley bearings. A really great mower. I bought when few people had zero turn mowers. Sperry pump motors, shocks, springs. 6 gal tank. Kawasaki motor is the best ….nuff said.
Love your channel, I got the ferris isx 2200 as demo still at the house. Just purchased the 3300 isx today!!! Be her next week!! Thanks for your input. Good stuff
72" Ex LaserZ since '05, 26hp non-efi, razor sharp blades always, plenty fast, routinely cut 5". Prefer to go no faster than I'm willing to collide with something. Would like zero-air tires & PTO powered deck like my ZD28 which burns a fraction of gallons per hour - 12 gals is an all day experience. Thanks as always, Tony. TFS
I switched from an Ariens 48" ZT which was okay, but I have about 5 acres to cut which is rough. I needed suspension and the speed of a ZT to keep the time reasonable. Went with a Ferris ISX2200 in 2022 which is very close to the 3300 for a reduced price. Briggs 28 hp with dry sump and 500 hr oil change. I have about 90 hours on it now with no complaints and very happy with the suspension and air ride seat. No head rest on my seat which is an option and I don't think it would ever be needed anyway. Other then that, it looks exactly like the 3300. You'd better have some deep pockets though, these commercial units are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Another thing to consider is the Stihl version, which is made by Ferris. Mike Morgan on YT Outdoors with the Morgan's has one and video'ed it on his channel about a year ago.
I have a exmark semi pro with a 48 inch deck so I can mow in between a lot of my trees. They will beat you to death due to the solid suspension and the sticks are very very touchy. But I couldn't afford a full com mower. I've had it 12 years with only 1 starter solinoid replacement and 1 battery. 23hp kawasaki is more than this mower needs. So far it has been the most reliable mower I've ever owned.
Great video and very informative, my friend. I’ve got 2 Gravely 72” mowers, one I bought in 2001, which has been through the devil’s domain with new property in the country. Barbed wire hits, large stones, stumps, etc. The newer Gravely has had it easier, but not easy. The land areas now are cleaned up. I’m thinking the new Stihl 972, which is a Ferris with a different paint job, and a few extra bells and whistles. They have a 40 hp Vanguard EFI mower, and is otherwise like the big Ferris you tested.
@Jimmy-Legs are you asking if the suspension is that much better than one without a suspension? I would say dramatically so. I mow 6 Acres with a 72-in deck. When I have gotten on a zero-turn that does not have suspension it is a night-and-day difference it physically beats me up
I used to drive Ferris 58" deck and suspension. Gotta say. When i got used to it and learned the yards with it. It's faster than NATO missile, leaves a clean cut and is pretty maintance easy, and strong build. This is deffinately for those looking for speed and have a lot to mow 5 days a week or more.
The big Ferris looks really nice. My concern would be how long would the suspension parts last and how expensive would they be to replace. Also, I'm not a fan of sealed bearings. Spindles need grease frequently, especially when mowing wet areas.
The front end is built heavier than many automobiles. I think it will hold up well, still, for the ride, I would rebuild it every three years vs having my back beat to death.
I have a snapper with a 20 hp Kawasaki engine for over 20 years and it runs perfectly but it is bumpy on rough ground especially with the Siri. My age, I can’t really walk behind it because I have 3 acres tomorrow Kawasaki build one hell of an engineevery time I change your oil it comes out clean no blow by not dirty but I follow the manufacturers recommendations. Thank you for your fine video.
And now I have a commercial 72 inch diesel Toro and it has a suspension seat and that makes all the difference in the world. You dial your weight on the seat. It’s writing on a cloud. What a difference it makes my old bones don’t get rattled anymore, I still mow with the Kawasaki snapper once a year, but always starts on the first pool, one fantastic 20 hp motor. My tour has a diesel. I think it’s 30 hp but I’m not sure but it rides so much better but I still get my old snapper with them. Kawasaki once a year works fine. That’s my back up more, you can’t be Kawasaki snapper or Toro Z classmowers
Great job showing and telling, in joyed the video and yes I wood have the 700 or 800 or yes for sure the 3300. Thanks again for showing telling what you told about them,so have a great day see ya next time see ya bye.
I have been working 10 years with different zero turn mowers. Ztrak diesel, Toro diesel Grasshopper diesel, Ariens zenith electric etc... A couple of weeks ago i had a loan Ferris 2600 with 60 deck and tweel front wheels. I can tell you that it is by far the most comfortable zero turn i have ever driven and it didn't even have a suspension seat.
Big yards is by far where the Ferris shines. I've never been a fan of the Exmarks, but I do see a ton more on trailers around here. Maybe they're better in tight yards? That'd be an interesting test to see. Given most yards are measured in square feet these days.
I have a Ferris 1500Z 48 inch with 22 hp Kawasaki. It is 19 years old and just mowed with it yesterday. If it had the Briggs engine it would have been gone years ago. Hope your 700 with the Briggs holds up.
It's because of the Kawasaki engine. I worked as a mechanic in a shop for 16 years and the Kawasaki engines outlasted every new or established brand. Parts were robust and they required less maintenance over the life of the machine.
I'll take Ferris over any of the current zero turns on the market I own a Ferris ISX 3300 my ferris cost less than the ExMark but the ride is so much smoother on my Ferris
That big Ferris is a hoss for sure, looks comfortable enough to pull up under that shade tree and have a nap. I live near you, and mow in Montgomery/Stewart county. I can say in rural mowing all 3 would be great, but around here a lot of uneven terrain which i feel would benefit the Ferris. Exmark sure sells a lot of mowers, i have the spartan commercial, because i got a deal I couldn’t pass up, from my trailer dealer. I’m in the market for a stand on, due to nimbleness, and gate sizes, ive looked at Ferris, skag, and gravely. I’m not sure which direction im going for next year when i start my first big contract. If you got the opportunity to run a stand on, id be interested in your thoughts on it.
There is a way to tighten mower deck on exmark. You did an excellent job. You are aware the Ferris was designed by Asphalt Late model guys in upstate New York.
I ran them both just as they were shipped from the factory. Thank you for your insight. I knew the designer was from New York, but I didn't know that much about him.
You should talk to the Ferris dealer that allowed you to have this comparison? Ask them if you can check out the one that has the caterpillar diesel engine. 72 inch deck. Wow I was all set to go get an expert now I’m back to looking at Ferris again.
The diesel is really heavy. I would not want it on my yard. To heavy. I used to run a diesel and when it was wet it cut horrible tracks. Maybe in a dryer climate.
I have a pro z cut 2001 Ferris, 23 years it's never failed me other than general maintenance. The only part I've replaced is a mower clutch. It will last me another 15-20 years and it's 23 years now. I mow about 3 acers. What I really like is that they have many grease zirks. I dont believe they build the decks as heavy that they did when i bought mine. I also have a commercial bager which is must if you have lots of trees, thers not a leave in the yard once they have all fallen no rakeing. Ferris is or was all american made they were built up in New York the only thing i didn't like is when they sold out to simplicity.
I've got a 20 year old exmark lazer z xp. 600 hours 31hp liquid cooled 3 Cylinder 13mph. Also have one like the exmark in the video but it's 28hp they both cut whatever is in front of them
The Toro ZTR is priced a little higher than the Ferris ISX 3300 with less HP availability. I think the ZTR would perform better than the Exmark solid frame, but I don't think it would keep up with the ISX3300. The ZTR design is still bouncing the whole mower where as the Ferris absorbs the shock before it gets to the frame. IMO.
Ferris is a nice mower, but more parts more things to fix. eXmark is straight forward, heavy duty daily mower. We use all eXmark and its trival things that break. Crew is now using a 72 lazer . It all comes down to preference, but eventually, suspension parts will deteriate everything, does eventually
I get that a lot from people that don't run Ferris mowers. Since making this video, I have talked with a lot of Commercial Landscapers and mowing companies that run Ferris. They will never switch back to solid frame mower ever! The mower is built so well, their cost is about the same. The key thing you left out of your equation, is You! The old Emark will beat your body to death. One other thought, do you buy solid frame autos? They go down the road for hundreds of thousands of miles under much harder conditions. The Ferris is built to automotive standards, but under much less harsh conditions.
The exmark x-series you have in the video is 12 mph not 10. As far as the steering input being sensitive the dampeners have 3 different settings. The Ferris hands down has ride quality for sure however with exmark its the quality of cut us landscapers are after as well as the components used in the machine. As far as engine horsepower commercial operators typically cut the exact same yards every single week therefore higher horsepower isn't required.
I’ve used that big Ferris on a 4 acre yard we had yeah its a beast it better be for $15 grand. Now we have a 1 acre lot I use an older model Exmark Lazer Z 60” deck the cut quality on the Exmark is hands down better it shoots those clippings 10 feet. Take that stupid flap off your cut quality will be much better. No matter what brand you have zero turns are money pits like boats and RVs.
My zero turn saves me money. My time is valuable. I save about three hours of mowing time at my two locations. I make more money when I have time to do my main job. It easily pays for itself.
The most expensive Ferris mower. Will be the fairest mower with the 72 inch deck and I believe it has a 48 hp caterpillar diesel. The MSRP on that mower is $37,000.
My word, that big ferris can huck. Is it possible the Exmark is fitted with mulcher blades and it's holding the grass under the deck a bit longer causing it to choke a little in long stuff?
The Exmark deck does not have the mulching kit. The big Ferris also does not have a mulching kit in place. I feel pretty good about the test overall. I feel like it was as fair as I could be.
I looked the Exmark over and it is built like a tank. It has to be built like a tank because it bounces like a basketball. I think things will last longer on the ferris due to the suspension. Even if I have to rebuild the suspension every three or four years, It will be worth it. Exmark absolutely abused me.
You skipped the most important step for ride quality. Check the tire pressure. Make sure they are not over inflated like most are. That is where the ride quality starts. I have a 60" Lazer Z and also a radius 60" exmark with suspension. I believe my lazer has 27 hp though. They sell lower hp engines to save money and fuel economy. Always go with the bigger engine if you ever plan to mow anything tall. The suspension on my exmark is pretty cool. But i still cant mow much above 7mph or the deck can bounce. The ferris suspension is cool as long as you don't run a heavy bagger. I bought exmark because of a good dealer and the quality of cut. That exmark probably also has the deck springs adjusted pretty tight. It makes the deck bounce more. They adjust them tight to make them easy to lift for height adjustment. I would like to try a Ferris next time I buy another one. I aint never had the front wheels come off the ground because of a hill like he states in the video. Must be really rough ground. I would smooth the yard out a bit if it was mine. Make the ride better and also be better on the machine.
I would prefer a Gravely over ex mark as well. My next mower will be a Ferris or another Gravely like I have now. I don’t like the way ex marks cut. My gravely 60 inch cuts very professional had it going on 10 years now. Cuts 5 acres a week
It will be interesting, Tony, to see the comments come in about which brand and model is best, worst, fastest, problematic, etc. Along with tractors, pickups, and boats, there's no other machine that has the polarity of lovers vs. haters than zero turn mowers! Hang on for the ride!! Lol😂 Thank you for your review!!
To be honest I was a little bit worried about it but to this point I have had only positive responses. It's kind of hard to lie in the way I did the review. It either works or it doesn't.
I’d love to try the big Ferris. They’re made by Briggs & Stratton and they also make simplicity and at least one other brand I can’t remember the name of now. Toro makes the ExMark. One thing I did notice about all of them, when you’re going near top speed with the suspension or without the deck still bounces, and you’ll miss some spots because the deck will be higher. Mine does the same thing. I’ve got a bad boy maverick. It has , a little bit of suspension on the front axle and on each of the rear wheels and it definitely helps. I drove another model without the suspension but it had a suspension seat and it was about the same comfort level. Mine goes 9 miles an hour, and the other one went to 12 miles an hour, but I think even the 9 miles an hour is pretty fast and a little too fast for most yards but if you were doing a football field or a golf course or some thing nice and smooth and doing several acres I can definitely see where you’d want something with the speed. It’s pretty cool the local dealer let you borrow a couple to try out
Now you did it. Now I want to design shocks for the mower deck too lol. Guess if I was the builder my mower would cost 30k. If you checked my profile that would make sense.
Exmark shoots grass so much better which is a huge deal if you own a lawn care company. The Ferris will leave so many clumps that you got to double cut it and spend more time. Exmark shoots and cuts better.
You really need to work on those 3 point turns. As for suspension, on a mower, not good on the wheels, they drop off the curbs and down into holes. My ride is better. But truth be told. Slow down if rough. Its not a race. Exmark and toro have the prettiest cut hands down. Not sure why though.
Pricing...depends on how far the dealer wants to bend you over the stump. Dixie Chopper Mowers are real popular down in Florida...real good with the tuff Pensacola Bahia Grass. 😬🤣😂✌👍
Yep, I live in Florida. Cut only Bahia grass and we have to deal with sand. It will blow holes in the deck in a few years. Constant blade sharpening. I bounce the Scag mowers. ;-)
@@TonysTractorAdventure You're welcome to use my Bad Boy Maverick HD to compare. The only problem is that I'm on the other coast. I upgraded to a bigger Bad Boy that my first, so I can put lights and sun shade on the ROPS. It's easy to see why someone mowing all day long prefers the less punishing ride with better suspension, and the more elaborate seat.
Thank you for watching. I looked at the exact moment you spoke of. I simply made a mistake. I am trying to mow, do a video, and not run into a ditch. I think I did good for about 3 hours of zero turn use.
Next video overall some specs you left out the cutting grass at 3 1/2 in is that tall it's silly and not the thing to do remember lawn is not a hay field you're bugging your lawn mower down you're cutting too deep and look at the results you got! I did notice the whine from the Exmark trans system versus the ferris that would be quite irritating to listen to even with hearing protection on by the way where was yours
Greatest Cut?……No!….not yet. (I’ll be experimenting with blades)…..with that said, the isx3300 with the 40hp is a Beast!! And it’s Smooth!! Bouncy?….yes!….I was within hours of getting an Exmark. The suspension Ferris is where I went and thank God I did. It’s Pricey for cutting worthless Grass!! I don’t regret it…..cut our time to a quarter…..(coming from lawn tractor)….full disclosure. Do your research with such a pricey worthless investment. I have no regrets with this Expensive investment. My wife and I Reclaimed our time to invest in other activities. Thanks Tony.
Ok toro/exmark are great mower the cut so much better then that Ferris mow I have talked to a lot of contractors that drive those ferris 3300s and they said toro and exmark better cut suspension. The Ferris is better.
I gave my opinion based on the results in front of me at the time of the test. I think the Ferris ISX 3300 is a better solution for real world yards. IMO
I just bought a new home with a 4 acre lawn and the lady left me an eXmark Pioneer with less than 300hrs on it. It's been nothing more than a money pit and the worse POS I ever encountered. You can't level the deck, on any less than flat lawn, it digs into the turf, endless spindles being replaced, safety switches etc having to be replaced, no traction on any hill!!! Garbage! I'm going to the Deere place tomorrow and give this junk to charity. Good riddance! No wonder she left the mower here!
A mower on rough terrain suspension is only going to help operators but want fix scalping . A good lawn maintenance company would recommend fixing the low spots or high spots especially with new construction companies Being cheap on finish grade work
I don't understand trying to mow wide open people mowing in the commerical business are not out here mowing wide open on these mower's that's a great way to get someone hurt or kill your equipment. I look at it like just because your car or truck will go 120 mph ae you going to do it going everywhere you go 🤔 all 3 mowers are great mowers when used correctly.
That is what people that don't own a Ferris or people with small yards say. In the real world, people need to mow as fast as they can safely. Of course the operator will need to slow down in tight spaces and near obstacles. I felt perfectly comfortable mowing as fast as the Ferris Mower Company rated both of their mowers to mow in an open yard. I certainly didn't feel that way with the Exmark. It was unsafe to operate wide open at its rated speed under what I consider to be a normal yard. Using a car going 120mph is a horrible example. I can walk at 4-5 mph. If you don't feel comfortable going 12mph, mowing may not be for you. The fact is this, the Exmark mower is not in the same league as a Ferris. Anyone that says otherwise is blinded by brand loyalty. I don't have a dog in the race and I am not a zero-turn lifer. I am however an equipment operator lifer.
@@TonysTractorAdventure so as you said in your video your new to the zero turn mowers and if you believe that these landscaping and yard maintenance companies are run these mower's as fast as they will go you are sadly mistaken I don't mean to be rude but I have some friends in the lawn maintenance business and have been doing it for 20 years or more and we have talked about mowing speed and they always say you lose the quality cut when you mow at speeds over 8mph.
It seems they need to get a Ferris. My 20 year friend has been selling and servicing commercial mowers for 15 years. Each commercial mower company that buys a Ferris feels like the world has changed for them. Their backs are not beat up and they get done quicker.
I have 2007 Badboy pup 23hp. The mower is a beast. I am looking a a Ferris. The reason is suspension. Hp does count. Thanks for the real review!
We recently traded our Ferris in for the big ISX 3300 Ferris. Once you know you can't unknow it.
Great presentation on the difference between mowers with and without suspension pure facts . And great audio also!!
My neighbor has an older 20 year exmark and it does good for him. I like how the Ferris compared to the new exmark. I now know which to get now. Thank you for your great honest straight forward video. Ferris appears to make an outstanding product. 73 Earnest K5EWM 👍.
Both companies make excellent mowers however, I think Ferris takes care of the operator better.
I mow wide open. Good enough is good enough for grass. LOL!
Exactly. Neighbor has a 72" Farris and recently spent over $3500 on repairs - mower just out of warranty.
My neighbor let me use his big Ferris 72” and you are not kidding about the comfortable ride. The suspension and the seat are unbelievable.
I wish I had not used the Ferris ISX 3300. Now I know what I am missing. LOL!

I had to go back to my Cub cadet 54“ zero turn zero suspension!😂
Excellent review 👏
I pick up my new 2023 40hp 72inch isx 3300 ferris this Friday. Super excited
I swapped out for the IS3300 36hp. Once you try one, it is hard to go back.
@TonysTractorAdventure I'm really expecting great things. I see the different videos on the brand and everyone seems to be saying the same thing. How smooth it rides and just how much better it really is. I'll give you my thoughts here after Friday 😀
I put out the ISX3300 video this morning.
Yeah I watched it and asked you about the suspension if you adjusted it at all. Love the content. Give us some more isx3300 stuff. I'm eating it up
1999 New holland mc 35 diesel four wheel drive with a 74 inch front deck mower...Still running strong AT 3100 HOURS and heavy enough where your not bouncing out of your seat~~~ Great for 4 plus acres totally farm ready for rough terrain....
I remember those tractors. Who made them? Was it Mitsubishi or Iseki? Good tractors. Tough as nails.
THERE'S A FEW MODELS. I HAD TO WAIT 10 YEARS TO GET ONE AT A GOOD PRICE UNDER 5K MINE IS A NEW HOLLAND MC 35... AROUND THE SAME YEAR 99 HUSTLER MADE ONE AS WELL.OR EVEN KABOTA OFFERS THE SAME IDEA ON THE F SERIES IN 2024 FOR 26K

We did not get paid for this, but I think the video tells the truth. The Exmark was jumping in the air!
I bought a zt elite 60", been a great mower, had a couple chips on my deck, tractor supplie got me 2 bottles of touch up paint for free, great service. I live in Arkansas. Good luck on your next purchase.
You enjoy your next purchase as well. Have a great weekend!
Ex mark series 6 deck. best cut in the business
I would have to disagree in this situation.
Exmark hands down a better mower and will last alot long than a ferris will. Too many pivot pionts on a ferris. Exmark lots bettter stripping. Go trade in a ferris. There not worth anything g
@@TonysTractorAdventurenah. Exmark or toro run circles around anything else. Nothing has held up like them
I bought a new Exmark Z 60's with the full floating deck suspension and have always been impressed.
Good fuel is key. I run good fuel and still use a stabilizer.
Thanks for the review even though I will probably never own a bigger commercial mower like these.
An FYI From the manual for my Ariens zero turn:
IMPORTANT: Engaging the PTO knob with the throttle lever set lower than fast position can cause excessive belt wear. ALWAYS use fast position when engaging the PTO|.
The big commercial mowers both say to engage the PTO at half throttle or less in their manuals. You're probably a little bit different in their setups. I do appreciate your watching our video.
@@TonysTractorAdventure Interesting, must be because the engine is more powerful can damage the belt somehow if full throttle.
I would guess you are right. All three of these mowers have big v twins. Lots of torque.
I appreciate your service to our communities.
My Ferris is1500, 21 years, 25 hp Kawasaki. 48” 2acres. A real tank, a duplicate of that 700.
All maint done by me. Belts, pulley bearings. A really great mower. I bought when few people had zero
turn mowers.
TFS
The Exmark looks very well built. When it comes to the comfort of the operator, it is just not in the same category as the big Ferris.
Great video buddy, really appreciate it, first time zero turn guy here.
Glad I could help
Great video and very informative, my friend. I’ve got 2 Gravely 72” mowers, one I bought in 2001, which has been through the devil’s domain with new property in the country. Barbed wire hits, large stones, stumps, etc. The newer Gravely has had it easier, but not easy. The land areas now are cleaned up. I’m thinking the new Stihl 972, which is a Ferris with a different paint job, and a few extra bells and whistles. They have a 40 hp Vanguard EFI mower, and is otherwise like the big Ferris you tested.
I ended up trading in my Ferris 700 for the 3300. I liked it that much.
Love my Ferris 54 in. Got it last year.
I have a Ferris with a 72-in deck and mow 6 Acres of my lawn. I don't think I could ever go back to a zero-turn without the suspension.
Thanks
How well does it stripe I pick mine up this Friday with the 40hp vanguard
It’s that much better?
@Jimmy-Legs are you asking if the suspension is that much better than one without a suspension? I would say dramatically so. I mow 6 Acres with a 72-in deck. When I have gotten on a zero-turn that does not have suspension it is a night-and-day difference it physically beats me up
@moneyhungry1 its stripes okay but add a big league mower striping kit to it and it makes great stripes
Ferris is all good we have one at church flat ground runs nice
I am impressed
I’ve never seen anyone mow across a ditch area vs running the length of each side of the ditch for a nicer cut
Suspension on bigger one seems more stable vs smaller one
I wish you could try the ISX 3300. I love mine but the ISX 3300 is in a league of its own.
wow, msrp
$21,349.00. That is out of my league. I am just a three yard guy though.
Big yards is by far where the Ferris shines. I've never been a fan of the Exmarks, but I do see a ton more on trailers around here. Maybe they're better in tight yards? That'd be an interesting test to see. Given most yards are measured in square feet these days.
The big Ferris is really nimble. I would put it up against the Exmark any day. It is about 4 in longer but the overall footprint is almost the same.
@@TonysTractorAdventure oh dang, I guess it's just the extra bulk that makes it look huge in comparison.
Very good comparison tony thank you for showing us
You're very welcome
I have a Ferris 1500Z 48 inch with 22 hp Kawasaki. It is 19 years old and just mowed with it yesterday. If it had the Briggs engine it would have been gone years ago. Hope your 700 with the Briggs holds up.
Thank you for the words of encouragement.
I traded in my IS700Z for an ISX3300. It is unreal! Love it.
I am really impressed with the big Ferris
There is a way to tighten mower deck on exmark. You did an excellent job. You are aware the Ferris was designed by Asphalt Late model guys in upstate New York.
I ran them both just as they were shipped from the factory. Thank you for your insight. I knew the designer was from New York, but I didn't know that much about him.
You should talk to the Ferris dealer that allowed you to have this comparison? Ask them if you can check out the one that has the caterpillar diesel engine. 72 inch deck. Wow I was all set to go get an expert now I’m back to looking at Ferris again.
That would be cool, but I was only able to test his two demos.
Also have one like the exmark in the video but it's 28hp they both cut whatever is in front of them
That is great, but they still ride like crap!
I have the Ferris ISX800,27hp Briggs,61 in deck,mow three acres,wouldn’t have anything else.At 158 hrs it’s flawless.
Would like to see Ferris vs Toro ZTR compare. Toro has that "My Ride" floating seat for rough terrain.
IMO.
Try a Ventrac 4520N with a 68 inch deck. Add lots of attachments. One beast for snow grass.
What is the price?
Very fair comparison great video thanks Tony and Tanya
Glad you enjoyed it. That was my hope, to be fair.
GOOD VIDEO SIR , THANK YOU
The exmark x-series you have in the video is 12 mph not 10.
Not in this configuration. They can be ordered by the dealership in several ways.
that 3300 ... looked like you were gliding across the yard... barely saw any bumps just by watching you
It was really impressive. So much so that we traded our IS-700 z in for the ISX 3300.
Wonderful review and video
Glad you liked it
Good comparison video. Music was good too!
Thank you ED.
I have the bad boy zt avenger and I absolutely love it cut my mowing time in half or more
Just imagine if you had suspension.
@@TonysTractorAdventure right bet it would cut it down even more
I’ve used that big Ferris on a 4 acre yard we had yeah its a beast it better be for $15 grand.
@@TonysTractorAdventure
Keep up on the regular maintenance and use non-ethanol gas with a fuel additive I use AMSOIL Quickshot .
Great job 👏
Thank you! 😃
The most expensive Ferris mower. Will be the fairest mower with the 72 inch deck and I believe it has a 48 hp caterpillar diesel. The MSRP on that mower is $37,000.
I noticed in your video when you drove the exmark over bumps that there seemed to be a noticable bounce of the mower deck compared to the others.
It threw me and the mower deck up in the air 6 to 8 on occasion. There's no way the Exmark can mow as fast as the Ferris with a solid suspension.
Nice demo 😮❤👍👴🏆🏆🐕🚜🕺😎🤠
Also all my neighbors think I'm a nascar mower guy because the Ferris will get it done!
I get some strange looks too! My wife and I have full-time careers so when I mow I want to get it done.
It was a fair test Tony, just so surprised at the suboptimal performance of the most expensive unit. It's like exmark have been caught napping!
@@ifyoutiphow do you smooth the yard
I’ve had my big scag for 9 years. It has the Kawasaki engine and I’ve never had a issue with it. Maybe 1 dealer with in a hour of my place.
Scagg is a beast of a mower and they hold up. Ferris is trying to step out front of the group with a true car like ride. I am impressed.
Exmark is just ok. I have a Big Dog. Same basic mower. I'm glad I bought it used because the new prices are too much.
That is why I bought a used Scag. So overkill for my use.
The big Faris
I would prefer a Gravely over ex mark as well.
My next mower will be a Ferris or another Gravely like I have now. I don’t like the way ex marks cut.
My gravely 60 inch cuts very professional had it going on 10 years now. Cuts 5 acres a week
I just put high lift mulching blades on my Ferris.
I like the Ferris but if I happen to get 1 I will be sure it has the Kawasaki engine. Those engines are the most reliable on the market.
It will be interesting, Tony, to see the comments come in about which brand and model is best, worst, fastest, problematic, etc. Along with tractors, pickups, and boats, there's no other machine that has the polarity of lovers vs. haters than zero turn mowers! Hang on for the ride!! Lol😂
Thank you for your review!!
You should check each individual mower to see who has most accurate hight adjustment
That is adjustable on both. It can be adjusted out right on either one.
yep, that is what should have been done before delivery. Or the owner check.@@TonysTractorAdventure
Trade Up, coming.
I told my buddy, that I hated him a little bit for letting me run the ISX3300. That is one nice mower.
Sealed bearings have short life spans It cost the same to have grease bearings vs sealed
Agreed.
Exmark shoots grass so much better which is a huge deal if you own a lawn care company. The Ferris will leave so many clumps that you got to double cut it and spend more time. Exmark shoots and cuts better.
I ran both of them side by side in the exact same conditions. They through grass the same way. Wet grass clump, dry grass throw. Both of them.
Probably more designed for smoother ground like golf courses
The Exmark is well built for sure, but it doesn't like ruff stuff.
You really need to work on those 3 point turns. As for suspension, on a mower, not good on the wheels, they drop off the curbs and down into holes. My ride is better. But truth be told. Slow down if rough. Its not a race. Exmark and toro have the prettiest cut hands down. Not sure why though.
Thank you for your opinion
Check the fluid level make sure it’s full
All maintenance was completed. No issues. I bet it all got sloshed! LOL!
I'm thinking about a new sthil, which is basically a ferris...
Yep. Ferris makes the new Stihl mowers.! Good company too
Just because it will go that fast don't mean you have to mow that fast
I appreciate your opinion.
It's not how fast you mow, it's how well you can mow fast, or something like that.
I agree. Ferris does a better job.
Pricing...depends on how far the dealer wants to bend you over the stump. Dixie Chopper Mowers are real popular down in Florida...real good with the tuff Pensacola Bahia Grass.
😬🤣😂✌👍
That is one way of describing it.😁
Yep, I live in Florida. Cut only Bahia grass and we have to deal with sand. It will blow holes in the deck in a few years. Constant blade sharpening. I bounce the Scag mowers. ;-)
Lets see a comparison between ferris and badboy
I would love to do a comparison between the Berris and a abad Boy. You provide the bad boy and I'll provide the Ferris.
Ex-mark is a dang good brand I would buy one in a heartbeat if I could afford one I worked with a lawn care company that’s all they used was Ex-mark
I never said they were not good, but Ferris is better IMO. The ride saves the operator.
Number 1 know buddy is going to mow wide open. Love exmark. There is too many moving parts on the Farris.
I have not had a single issue with Ferris. FYI, I am somebody and I mow wide open every time.Exmark owners can't mow wide open.
@ 31:00 wonder why it was mowed with the deck all the way up?
Watch the video and I'll tell you 10 seconds later.
@@TonysTractorAdventurewatched the video and no where around 31 did the guy say why he forgot to put the deck down.. didn’t mean to offend 😂
Thank you for watching. I looked at the exact moment you spoke of. I simply made a mistake. I am trying to mow, do a video, and not run into a ditch. I think I did good for about 3 hours of zero turn use.
@@TonysTractorAdventure yes you did fine and I enjoyed the video!
I liked the toro, but I own a 54"cub cadet zero turn with steering wheel and it will stay on a steep grade,
The Ferries ISX3300 is the best I have ever used on grades. I liked it so much, I traded my IS700X in on the ISX3300 last year. That thing is a beast.
Thank you for your opinion.
I put high lift blades on this year. It cuts better and throws further.
IMO
Why didn't u get a exmark with suspension on it
Because Exmark doesn't make a suspension.
Check the Ferris out
Ferris is awsome better than my skags did this 42 years
I am a mower rookie, however, now that I have been on a Ferris, I feel like I'm going backwards on any other brand.
A mower on rough terrain suspension is only going to help operators but want fix scalping . A good lawn maintenance company would recommend fixing the low spots or high spots especially with new construction companies Being cheap on finish grade work
I would disagree to a degree. The Ferris did mow better on the ruff stuff. The Exmar when airborne several times.
So what is the price range
I believe that was in the video
heavy grass and cut comparison
I don't have the other mowers. One time test. It is what it is. Exmark is not keeping up.
