  • METAL ARM TIMEEEEE BABYYYYY
    (...but actually foam, not metal...)
    Hey, everyone! I'm beyond hyped for this video, because it's the first part of one of my dream cosplay builds" Bucky Barnes' Winter Soldier! The whole arm is made of EVA foam with Worbla reinforcements. This project is 100% funded by donors on my Ko-Fi! I cannot thank you enough for supporting this project.
    All of the patterns for this project will be free to download. Of course, they are made for MY body -- I'm a 5'5" woman -- so they may need to be adjusted. However, they'll be a good starting point for anyone making this arm!

    This is absolutely incredible! The detail, the process and the way the paint looks like metal. You put a lot of effort and the end result is so cool!

    I completed this tutorial and was so happy with the results!!!!! Your free patterns were such a big help!!! The hardest part was doing the panels and making sure they lined up correctly after tracing them, but it worked out! I really enjoyed this project and couldn’t have done it without out this video!

    Thanks so much for putting this together! It's a lot less intimidating, seeing it done in steps like this. The gladwrap and duct tape pattern is inspired!
    Eyeing up doing Loki as the Winter Soldier, so this is just what I needed.

      Hi! Thank you! Sorry that that part wasn't clearer haha. I actually do have all the patterns I used for free here though (ko-fi.com/post/The-Winter-Soldier-Update-3-The-Arm-G2G2FUW1A) so you can work off of those shapes when you are making this for yourself!

    Love how this turned out, but I have a question. How do you cut the Saran Wrap/duct tape mold off the arm without breaking the cosplay mold? That wasn't made entirely clear.

    • @universeofemily
      @universeofemily  11 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for your question! I just cut a slit down the arm to get myself free. You’ll be cutting the “mold” up into smaller pattern pieces anyways with the goal of getting shapes to lie flat!👍🏼

    Very nice job! How long did you wait for the quickseal to dry before you added water and smoothed it?

    • @universeofemily
      @universeofemily  Рік тому

      Thank you!! It’ll depend on the temp and humidity of your place, but for me, it was the perfect consistency after about 2 minutes:)

      @@universeofemily Awesome, thank you so much! I was working on a Captain America shield for last Halloween as my first project and I couldn't get a seem just right. I tried this trick but I think I should have let it dry more.

    Hi! Do you have a pattern for the top layer of foam with the cutouts/panels as well, or just the arm base? This is so cool!

    • @universeofemily
      @universeofemily  9 місяців тому +1

      Thank you! Sadly I do not- as shown in the video, i drew the design on to make sure everything would sit right, so the top foam layer is very specific to my own arm.

    • @courtneylewis2415
      @courtneylewis2415 9 місяців тому +1

      @universeofemily that's cool!!! I'll try my best 😁 I'm basically the same height and build as you so the arm base is so helpful! Is it to scale if it's printed at A4?

    • @universeofemily
      @universeofemily  9 місяців тому +1

      @courtneylewis2415 you got this!!🔥 and yes you can just print it in poster mode actual size in adobe and it should automatically come out on whatever paper that you have it set to. Theres a 1 inch hash on the page to make sure it came out the right size!

    This is amazing!!! You have such a way of explaining the steps that even with raging ADHD I can understand how it all works out 🫶🫶 question: is there an alternative to worbla, even if it may not be as high-quality?
