homie i have been looking EVERYWHERE to find a more androgynous design for a chest plate, they’re always really stylized and for titty emphasis. i’m so happy you made this you’re a lifesaver!
you popped up in my recommended and I'm so glad you did! the armor looks amazing! edit: I want to make an armor set for a cosplay and I saw a leather making one and then this one, I am 100% going to make this one! Simpler and cheaper, thank you so much!
Subscribed just before I saw this, (120 gang) and was blown away by how clean this is for HD foam, definitely some of the best non-steel plate armor I've seen, mad props.
I love this . I don’t have a sewing machine and I have a werk to do an easy knight and tuxedo costume . This looks great and not too many intricate details . Simple yet awesome .👍 Thanks . wish me luck . I sure do looove my kids😜
This design looks amazing and I’m definitely planing on following it for my first armour, just a quick question how much foam should I order? I’m around your size, should a 35x124cm 6mm be enough?
That's such a dope design. I really love the smaller details and the more functional aspect. I was wondering how you send about attaching the straps the the actual chest piece, did you use glue to attach the straps? Same question applies to the pauldrons to the shoulders
Thank you SO much! That means a lot! ❣️ If I could remake the breast plate I would definitely add more details like additional foam strips and rivets. I was afraid of the design looking too busy, but now I want more!! 😂
@@universeofemily I think the simplicity of the design really helps it sell as real, it sits comfortably between a vaguely historical pseudo fantasy look, but some brasswork/etc is always an option. Awesome job
Omg I totally wanna use this tutorial for ren faire this year!! Dumb question though, how did you attach the arms? Are they the same straps that the torso has, or is it different? Thank you!!
Hi!! I attached the shoulder pauldrons to the breastplate with their own adjustable straps. Just a “hanging” piece of fabric with velcro, and another loop for the bottom (to go around the biceps). Let me know if this helps!
So glad it was helpful! 💖 The gesso is less flexible than, say, Plastidip, but still flexible. I like it for armor pieces that might bend a little but aren’t meant to move too too much!
amazon link for silver spray paint is down :(. also could i use that embossing technique to conform grooves? i'm kinda worried about gesso brush strokes
how did you attach the cotton straps to the armor? when i made a similar foam armor, i used cotton twill iron-on patches as straps and attached them to the armor with contact cement, but the bond was quite weak and one of them actually fell off completely during the convention!
Hi there!! I super glued foam onto the ends of the fabric (and then stitched around the edges for extra security -- although i think it would have been fine without this extra step!) and then used contact cement to glue the foam-covered end of the fabric to the armor. I hope this helps!
@@universeofemily thanks for the advice, i'll try that next time! also, with the silver spray paint you used, did you ever notice it cracking and bending under slight pressure from the foam moving? i've been on a manhunt to find a good shiny/reflective silver spray paint that remains flexible
I hope it goes well!! The crackling under pressure had more to do with the primer than the paint itself - i recommend plastidip spray for primer since it dries “rubbery”! And rust-o-leum metallic paints are always my go to!!
A few tips for your next breast plate: - Make arm holes bigger so you have more mobility and the plate doesent dig to your skin while mowing around - minimize the side cab between the back and front plate. this makes it look more like the historical pieces and improves the look anyways I hope those are useful
Come on, we all know female armor has to have the boob shape. And none of your stomach is even showing. I’m getting a feeling you have never seen a female character in a video game before… for take 2, just make a metal bikini and that will pretty much be 100% accurate.

Omg this makes me so happy!! I hope your armor turns out amazing!💖
That's because some women have bigger breasts that can't just be forced down by armor plates.
YESS!!!!!
That embossing technique you did was clever!
Thank you SO much!! It’s such a fun way to add extra detail. I’d love to do an indepth video about how to make clay stamps next☺️ thanks so watching!
This saved my octoleet armor cosplay
So I’m having trouble sizing, I feel like it would’ve been helpful to see how you came up with the shape with the duct tape in the beginning. 😬
Any chance on a blueprint update/availability? I love the simple design and I'm in the process of learning how to work with foam for armor.

Yay!!!! Im so glad! Foam is such a cool material- there’s so much you can do with it💖

Oh my gosh, I appreciate that so much!! Thank you so much for the kind words!💖
Awesome work. If I had only seen the finished product, I'd have guessed it was sheet metal. Very well done!
Such a huge compliment!!💖 Thank you!!

I just finished the chest and backplate following this video with my 7 yr old he is so happy! Thx
This makes me so happy!!💖💖
Absolutely in love with this!! Fantastic job it looks amazing!
I appreciate that so much! Thank you!!
Fun! I love the heat imprint technique.
Thank you!! I love that technique too!
Thank you so much for making this! Going to be following along while I try and make my own armor!
YAY!! Best of luck, i’m sure it will turn out awesome!!
We need a blueprint!!
I wish there was a pattern HSJAGHW but this is gonna be so helpful, tysm
I just found this video and I love this armor! How did you attach the front and back plate at the shoulders? I can't tell in the video.
Wow, awesome, this is definitely worth a try. Thank you and great work
Yess! You got this!!!🙌🏼💖
Halloween is gonna be great this year I already know
Thank you so much for this! I'll definitely be using this
Im so glad!!!💖 thank you so much for watching!
This looks great! I love the cascading look you did on the pauldrons.
thank you thank you thank you! I was looking for a well explained tutorial and this was it
Yay!! Im so glad you found something helpful here!💖

Great job! It looks amazing! Just subscribed and looking forward to watching more of your stuff!
this is awesome
Now thats worth a big 👏👍
This is just so amazing!!! What kind of paint do you use for the weathering?
I appreciate that so much! Thank you! The weathering paint is just watered-down acrylics.:)
@@universeofemily ohhh nice! i had a feeling! :D

I was wondering how you send about attaching the straps the the actual chest piece, did you use glue to attach the straps? Same question applies to the pauldrons to the shoulders
Thank you! The straps have a piece of foam sewed the the end, which is in turn contact cemented to the armor. Super secure this way!
Truly an awesome artist! Now that you have been thru this whole process, Is there something that you would improve?
Thank you for making this video
Thank you SO much! That means a lot! ❣️

very nice, I wonder if there's a kind of paint that could give it kind of a chrome reflective mirror look
Looks awesome, great video
Looking good Emily. 👍
where can I have the templates?
do you have a copy of the pattern? :)
do you have a template? just kinda a rough design so I can make my own? awesome video

This was awesome Emily! I'm gonna give it a try myself for my drag character!
PS -- do you sell the patterns by chance?
My LOVEEE thank you so much!! Oml, you are going to SLAY (literally lol). Unfortunately, I don’t have the patterns for this saved 😭😭 sorry babe!!
Great tutorial! I never considered using Gesso to seal the foam. Does it stay flexible, or does it become rigid when it's cured?
So glad it was helpful! 💖 The gesso is less flexible than, say, Plastidip, but still flexible. I like it for armor pieces that might bend a little but aren’t meant to move too too much!
It's so rad!
gorgeous
Thank you so much!!
great Job
Thank you!!💖
was a video ever made to show how you made the embossing stamp?
Can you list the video with how to create the embossing?
How did you attach the pauldrons
Thank you for your video, I was planning to disguise as Joan of Arc for carnival.
great video thx
I'm planning on trying to use this for Mettaton! Hopefully it works
Goodluck!! That’s going to be AWESOME!!💖
How do you attach the strap to the foam?
I want it T-T but we dont have thats kind of foam in my country
If you have access to online shopping, there’s lots of places to buy online!🥰 just search for EVA foam!
How has the paint held up? Few times I painted armor it cracks after a bit.
Hi! I love this design so much, but I have one question. Is the black base coat necessary? Or can I just go in with the metallic first?
I’m interested in making a medieval bishop hat, what kinda foam should I put in it to help hold it up? Thanks.
amazon link for silver spray paint is down :(. also could i use that embossing technique to conform grooves? i'm kinda worried about gesso brush strokes
Is it sturdy though, or will it fall apart if you move to much in them or sit on them
Very sturdy! High density foam is surprisingly durable, and small dents can be fixed with a quick blast from a heat gun! :)
how did you attach the cotton straps to the armor? when i made a similar foam armor, i used cotton twill iron-on patches as straps and attached them to the armor with contact cement, but the bond was quite weak and one of them actually fell off completely during the convention!

What should I use if I don’t have heat gun anyway? I’m too poor to buy that thing lol
I like that you made the chest plate look like something one would wear for actual protection. But steel usually works better than foam. Just FYI.
Is a pdf of the layout available for purchase?
Unfortunately not this time! I would love to put it up somewhere for free eventually!!
@@universeofemily hi! Is the pdf available this time? Hehe so gorgeous!! 🔥😍

First time I see someone wearing medieval armor correctly other than those that aren't real and have breasts
hello can i have ur pepakura to try this cosplay plz ^^
Pdf?
You look like Joan of Arc from Age of Empires 2
real armor is better dude
Foam! 🤢🤮
