Robert E Howard created his world's n did it all basically between 1928 to 1936. All his stories published 22 years before lord of the rings and one year after Robert E Howard's death the Hobbit came out. That's how ahead of time he was. He created sword and sorecy he's amazing he did it all n died at 30.
Robert E. Howard wrote like nobody else. And yes, I’ve read everything Howard ever wrote. Even Tolkien liked him! So glad you do too. Great video. You are right, I need to do a Conan video.
You're covering so many #AppendixN authors/stories lately. This is wonderful! Great reading and discussion. I'm intrigued that you pronounce Conan more like the celebrity Conan O'Brien than how the films have pronounced it as CoNAN.
Robert E. Howard Conan rules.👍 IMO. Nobody Does Conan like Robert E Howard, and I have tried others versions. Really If You watched the original Movie with Arnold S. it talks about his education, introduction into philosophy , and Studies of Campaigns , and Studies of War. I have Read everything Robert E Howard has done....including his Boxing stories. Great Video 👍😁👍
ya i wanna read all of howards stuff, he seems just so damn fascinating, and anything about his life as well, the fact that he blew his brains out in a car and thats how he went out just, no pun intended here, blows my mind, like being alive, then learning and seeing that in the news, would it be like if MJ just offed himself one day? he seems pretty damn famous and the social reaction just interests me so much
I love Conan. It's interesting to me that in terms of sheer story quality, mostly the latter stories are the best - *except* that "Phoenix and the Sword" and "Tower of the Elephant" are, as you say, very very good introductions.
Robert E. Howard really did have a style like no other. So many authors have written Conan, and quite well, but none capture the character like Howard's originals. The other volumes in the series, particularly Solomon Kane and King Kull, are well worth the reading. If you venture into the comics, in addition to Conan the Barbarian I'd recommend the black and white magazines The Savage Sword of Conan and Conan Saga. Thanks for your video; it was very enjoyable.
This collection of the Conan stories is awesome! I also have the Solomon Kane which I highly recommend you checking out if you haven't done so! I'm new to comics but I've started to read some of the Conan ones, but from what I've heard it is the comics beside Howards own stories that really gives Conan justice as a character. Especially the Roy Thomas stories, but I have yet to read them I might add! Have you read Rogues In the House? Am I the only one who think it's amazing?
By Crom! Awesome your reading Robert E Howard's work he's so great.

Good review DW! I'm working on getting this full series!
The Del Ray collection of Howard's horror stories is absolutely fantastic. I've read my copy so many times I've had to glue it back together twice.

Great job of reading/commenting on this! BTW, we know from Novalyne Price and Norris Chambers that REH pronounced 'Conan' as 'CO-nun'.
i love listening to people read😍
I’m slowly making my way through this collection. Good video!

@@DavidWiley7 Hehe well I hope you won't get disappointed now :P
Conan is America's Iliad and Robert E. Howard is the Homer of the 20th century.
