As a former line cook and former smoker- I don’t think alot of smokers realize the strong smell even if you put it out and wash your hands- that smell lingers to someone who isn’t smoking- it is the worst thing you can do as a server to come in immediately to serve a patron after having a butt in a non- smoking establishment- it cuts right through the smells of the food and kitchen around you! No- it won’t turn a hungry patron away but it does take away from their experience and therefore an opinion is made and therefore your tip declines possibly. I totally understand the need for a butt- I still have the “instinct” 5 years after quitting- so I don’t judge- I’m just saying please leave at least 10 mins between smoking and coming to a patron IF you are in a non- smoking establishment.. if you’re in a smoking establishment I feel for you- especially if you don’t smoke-but at least the patrons can’t tell if you do!

Even if so, the restaurant stayed open for 10 years since this episode aired and closed in 2023 do to covid etc.. so it did hold up quite well and she does catering now. Most closed within a year or two after gordon did his magic. so hats of to this lady for well done job
Miss Jean's transformation was incredible to watch. The way she turned things around and brought the soul back into her restaurant was truly inspiring. Chef Ramsay worked his magic again!
Not true at all. Even if they're volunteering, it's still working there and volunteering their time there. That's like saying someone volunteering to work at the soup kitchen or a nfp sale is just allowed to fuck off on their phone the whole time. No the hell they aren't.

If you aren’t going to pay people to help you, you are reliant on what volunteers can or agree to give you- you can (respectfully) ask them to not use their phone to excess, absolutely and I think most volunteers would agree to that. but if you are rude or demanding, and insisting that someone can’t use their personal device at all while helping you, you can and should expect your free labor to leave.
