The fact Sildihn Subterrain, a place connected to ARR Hildebrand lore, while requiring said Hildebrand quests was NOT part of the MANDERVILLE Relics was so mindblowingly stupid to begin with, so who knows if they do it this time.
There was a lore tidbit in the Paendamonium epilogue, but it was super subtle. They named another “Word of…” we’ll see if it works into the Ultima/Auracite/Heart of Sabik storyline they’ve been setting up or not.
The cliffhanger for 7.1 has me very intrigued. I recognized FFX's Truth Revealed ost playing during that cutscene when a certain character walks on screen. The parallels between this character and the philosophical questions about death, self-sacrifice, and hope demonstrated by the FFX story create some interesting theories.
Haps talking about phys ranged mit and I'm cackling because even this is my first on-content raid tier, I get it. The moment where I get asked if I have Troubadour up, I'm sooooo ready lol
So much for the "friendly and nice" community the game used to be known for. Now it's as cynical and negative like most other multi-player games. Can't do much about it sadly.
59:10, woops straight up sounds like Jim Carry in the mask. I've actually had people deer in the headlights during the ice phase of the new extreme. They will pause, cross the bridge, I'll start crossing, and then they would try to cross back and kill us both. I will say, for M2S, as a main tank, I've found the most success by bringing her north, stacking until 4 lines show up, then Yolo the rest. Straight up, my raid team tanks is dark knight and gunbreaker (me). I ended up going paladin for M3S because there was NO instance where light of heart AND dark missionary was at all necessary. Paladin is super good for shit like barbarous barrage and final fusedown. Not wanting to be too close to the boss when my bomb goes off as a tank, I just save my magic combo for when I run out (it's right during a 1/2 minute window) and I don't have to worry about blowing anyone up.
So he describes seeing vanadeel through the cenote right? That implies to me that, since the gate was specifically a link between the 9th and source, thay vanadeel was just another locale on the 9th.
I think so too. It makes sense many nations would have been lost during the Storm Surge weather/wars, so there's lots of potential for Vana'diel-like "echoes" to get a glimpse of what the Alexandrian shard was like before.
Curse you, Bayle! I hereby vow! You will rue this day! Behold, a true Drake Warrior! And I, Igon! Your fears made flesh! Solid of scale you might be, foul dragon … But I will riddle with holes your rotten hide! With a hail of harpoons! With every last drop of my being!
Aside from questionable reward structures and replayability over the years and whatnot, I feel Unreal is the biggest missed opportunity and essentially "waste" of development the game has. Even the most forgotten, niche or abandoned piece of content (we don't talk about pvp...) usually stays. There's squadrons, leves, deep/hard mode/ criterion dungeons that you can all do whenever. Unreal is just...gone. all the dev hours to retune a fight, bring it to current min iLvl to make it all that little bit harder DPS wise, etc. and it all goes away after the patch. Not saying they should invalidate all the expensive rewards from it by letting us farm them all every time, but as suggested in the podcast at least make it a rotation, maybe weekly target with bonus rewards so if you really hate that fight you can just do another one for the week, etc. it's just a waste to make it disappear forever. I joined in EW so I would love to retry a lvl80 primal from ShB, but nope it's gone forever.
Yeah, just make a roulette for them or give a bonus reward for the newest one, but why take it completely away when the game desperately needs more actual midcore content?
That was actually a thought I had back when I first started playing FF14 around the tail end of Shadowbringers, but it was just more along the lines of just having more of a reason to go back to do the older raids in general... but yeah, even though I never did Unreal yet I do wish they don't just delete the fight after a patch and they simply keep the fights around for lower/different rewards. (A bit off topic, but I do like PvP not sure why the community hates that piece of side content so much. :\ )
I’ve played this game for 8 years and man they have lost something. I don’t know what it is, but it’s like they no longer know what a good story is. When I finished, I could not believe the sum total of what we did in the msq this patch is go to a funeral and save some buffalo. Literally the only interesting thing was the last 10 minutes and now it’s back to another half year wait before anything else comes from it. This is probably the most boring .1 patch since post-ARR.
well, zenos had really nothing going with him when he revived so its like he's still alive so what? but this time "fake" sphene is causing real problem, and "real" sphene reviving is interesting since theres more going on with her. And we don't know if "real" sphene is the original or ai.

They can't do an alliance raid series based on FFXI without a Shantotto encounter so hoping we get that
This might be my second favorite .1 patch MSQ after 4.1.
Unwritten rule of fiction: never assumed someone was dead until you saw a body
Unless a body is horribly mangled before vanishing off screen, if there is no corpse on screen, they are still alive.
Rewards are nice. but *cough cough hrothgar hats cough*
I just came here to hear the incoming rant from Sly about Dragoon. Look how they massacred our boy. 😭

The 7.1 Buffalo story was so bad, even worse than PLD job quests bad
