Thank you so much for this superb video. May I ask about the thickness of the Murphy bed ,,, I mean the distance from the wall to the face of the bed when folded up. How much space does it occupy ? 30-40 cm or more ???
I'm in the process of planning one of these. The plans look great, the build looks great. But I'm wondering about materials. Rather than use plywood and edge banding for all of this, is there a compelling reason not to use actual lumber for parts like the bed side panels?
I don't have all the tools you do. I have a miter saw, a Ryobi table saw, sanders and paint sprayer. Is this too much for a first time project? And what tools are a must have to do something like this, besides a routing table?
Good morning nick, watched your video on the Murphy bed , great video. I have a client that is wanting a quote, I see you have a link for the hardware kit and cultist I'm guessing the cultist is just for the bed carcass and not the extra bookshelves. Do you by chance remember your cost of material? Or how many sheets of plywood was required? Thanks!
I was interested in the details as well. I discovered that the Murphy bed kit includes cultists for bed and the Sliding bookshelf kit includes the cultists for the bookshelves. He provides links to both.
How woould it hold up if every shelf were fully loaded with books? Most of these murphy-bed systems with book cases (the ones I've seen) can't cope with the weight of fully loaded shelves.
I was thinking the same thing. Plus, for such a sleek look, the rolling cabinets seem very floppy and cheap. I would install rollers to the bottom, guesstimating the size based on how much weight I think it would take.
And also, maybe adding some way to keep those sliding shelves in place when they are open and closed. Can't think of anything off the top of my head right now, can you? There must be something.
However, the overall design is cool and I'm grateful for the video! It's also nice that you can buy kits that have the specialty hardware needed for such a project. What a cool time we live in!
DIYers are people who half ass everything cause they think its easy. You mean it's within the ability of a decent craftsman 🙂 and im not talking about material costs. The skilled work is mostly what makes it worth money to a client.

Love it! Will be trying to build my own in the near future. Do the Murphy bed plans include instructions for the cabinets or just the bed? Thanks!
What size room did you put this in? I have wanted to make and/or have a Murphy bed installed in our lil extra bedroom.
I have a memory foam mattress that is 11 1/2 inches tall will this Murphy bed kit accommodate that?

Very nice, but it would be great if you give simple alternative to the expensive high-tech tools you have that usually people don't have.
Home Depot and lows cuts wood for free 👍
Beautiful! Both the video and carpentry.
What was the approximate depth of the unit?
What did you use for the filler between the boards? Is that some form of caulking?
Where can I find the hardware ? Thank you very much
Great Video.please add the Link for the bed you used. Thanks.
What size mattress can you fit
Can you share the DIY Murphy Bed Link that you used here?
Do you have the directions in writing?
Am I missing something? I was looking for plans for this and do not see any? Assuming the plans are included with each kit?
Love this thinking about this for an extra guest bedroom.
Just a quick question how do we purchase a dyi purphy bed kit?
I had just seen your TikTok about this so this is perfect timing for us! Definitely a goal for our guest room.
It’s a really fun project!
Awesome, Great job. You have that gift from GOD!
1 Question how hard would it be to make it taller?
Wow! I can do this! Thanks. 😊

Great job, the result is really cool
Such great work! Wish you were near Boston!

Beautiful work!
I wonder about those bookcases just hanging when full of books.
Just add another set of tracks on the bottom for sturdier doors.. if you want to actually keep books there. Most would probably use for minimal decor
Bonjour
pouvez vous m'indiquer la puissance des vérins et leur longueur svp, et ou je pourrai les acheter?
Merci
Cordialement
Where are you located, and how can i get an estimate?
i gotta build one of these for my garage .. ugh
Hahaha. Is that for the inlaws or for when the wife kicks you out? Just kidding.😂
These are soooooo cool. Wish I had the tools to build one!
Why are your walls Black?
How much roughly? Im gonna say that has to be at least 5000$ this is not a do it yourself er project. I hate diyers.
Definitely within the ability of a decent diyer. Having the right tools helps. I’d guess about $500 in materials plus the bed kit and paint.
