Nice job! The door fronts on the bottom of the bed really make it looked built in. Does not look like a bed in hiding. Next project go for the twin. The Murphy door

Great video! Definitely one of the better ones I've watched. Thank you for the pro tips on cabinet pulls. I noticed that a lot of people don't paint the interior of the murphy bed cabinet - why is that? Also, have you considered changing the headboard? One other thing, what did you do about your baseboards? Cut them off for flush mounting, or angle cut around them?

Great vid. In my head i was picturing around €300-€400 for timber but then mine was going to be very basic. I like your finish though, definitely going to take some inspiration from it.
How did you build those cabinet doors? Given how you are assembling them, it looks like they may be prefab? If so, let me know where you got them, they look great!
You made a queen sized Murphy bed. What is the shortest the bed could've been, without the trim work? My ceiling is 92.5 inches, could I make it work?
What are the overall dimensions of of just the box for the queen bed?
I've totally made a good chunk of the same mistakes you did 🙃 I'm officially at the vertical stage 🙌🏾....buuuuut also realize all this really means is I'm maybe about halfway through considering filling, sanding, painting and building a cabinet to frame one side. Most days I totally feel like I'm over my head (....I don't REALLY know what I'm doing....mostly playing Ash the Builder 🤫).
I'm still deciding on a hardware solution because the long ones I want are dumb expensive 🫥. Were you able to get the 1x3s flat once you screwed the pulls in?....Or should I maybe install the pulls before I secure the mattress support?
Also (because I have no clue what I'm doing 😁) do you have any vides of how you built the cabinets? 🤔 Thanks!
Nobody knows what they’re doing. We’re all just figuring it out as we go. That’s what I tell myself at least.
The 1x3’s I did get to sit flat by insetting the screw heads on the back side.

Is the bed strong enough in the middle? Is it deflexing in the middle? I think the support beams are too small in height to prevent bending in everyday use.
You didn't attach the cabinets to the back wall? They are just stacked up on each other basically?

Comes in multiple sizes but this one is a queen vertical setup.

I just worked on it in my spare time, but not including paint maybe 4 days?.. just a guess.
How about turn it lengthwise for ceilings with angles?
You could turn it lengthwise. It is a different kit though.
What kind of wood did you use for the project?
I used the cheapest sanded plywood they had knowing I was going to paint it. Looking back I wish I would have used birch for the bed portions and the cheap stuff for the built ins.
Looks great, man! Did you thin your cabinet paint down at all? Also, i'm curious why you couldn't just drill the holes for the handles all the way through -- was it a matter of the bolts not being long enough to make it through all of the material? If so, you could have just counter-bored through the back side until the handles bolts were sticking through enough to grab the handles -- and it would have made the painting easier -- I might be misunderstanding something, though. Looking forward to the next project!
I did thin the cabinet paint down some. May have had something to do with it running? I think it’s because I had the sprayer up so high and the window open in 90+ degree weather mainly.
I probably could have drilled all the way through but it would have in my mind been more of a headache. I would have been drilling through the three-quarter inch faux cabinet styles, then the three-quarter inch plywood on the face of the bed, and then potentially the bed struts, depending on where they fell on my holes. I would have also had to remove the 1/4 inch panels that go on top of the struts to access the screws.
Glad to see you are gonna stick around for the next one! Just give me some time to think of it! Might be some workshop cabinetry/organization.

The bed portion takes 6 sheets.
I think I used another 2 for my built ins.

Oh no I just fit the built ins to the room I had left. The bed is a queen size.
