    Beautiful images and wise words, Eric, thank you!
    I never strategize. I apply two simple ideas: 1) run your race, not someone else's race; 2) physiologically, keeping the same effort throughout the run yield the best result. So, I just need to estimate the duration of the race to understand the intensity of my run and that's it: never had an issue.

      All great points. Keeping the same effort throughout is the point of this video. Thanks for the great comment.

    Hi Eric, it's good that new videos are slowly coming back to the channel, I always enjoy watching. As for the subject matter presented in the video and the concept of constantly changing the way you move and adapting it to the terrain, I've heard many times that constant changes cause faster loss of energy, knock you out of rhythm, cause faster fatigue of muscles that constantly have to adapt to changes. What do you think about it, is it a matter of training such a strategy of moving in a variable rhythm?

    • @BornToRunCoach
      @BornToRunCoach  15 днів тому +1

      @@wojtekkos341 great thoughts here and I think you answered your own question. Doing anything "new" in a race will create more energy costs. So it's very important, I believe , to introduce variety throughout your training to not only adapt to race and terrain demands, but to also keep you health. Doing one thing, one motion, over and over again is just a recipe for stagnation, over use repetition and no challenges to the body (in training). Then, there are no surprises come race day. Variety is key for health, longevity, and performance. Sometime we lose sight of this because we are talking about ultra distances. But the main message of this strategy is to read and adjust to the terrain to keep the effort even and apportionment, and not have big fluctuations in effort.
