My Mom was a great cook. She died very suddenly when I was a teenager leaving my Dad and I to fend for ourselves ….Banquet meals became a staple for us. I almost cried when I saw that. I learned to cook and never served them to my family but it brought me back to a time that I was dam glad they existed. 😘😘🥰🥰
My dad was very poor due to injuries on job and would buy me and my sister banquet and he died very suddenly when I was a teen. Now when I see banquet I have fond memories of my papa doing the best he could. Bless you, sending love
One thanksgiving we were a family of 4 living in a motel and our thanksgiving dinner was Carl Buddig turkey (2) packs, a loaf of white bread, and for a treat 1.25 liter soda split between us. Family was what counted and we were thankful to be together and for me to start a job at a truck stop food outlet the next day.
I was so broke and living in a hotel one year that I had to get one of those banquet turkey dinners for my girls and myself. I am glad that was available. The holidays are about being with the ones you love. Sometimes you just gotta do with what you have. Thank you for your video :)
I'm over holidays , kids are gone . Stress of holidays are gone ! We are , as in hubby and I, are having hot beef on wicks for Thanksgiving this yr . Of course I got a cheap turkey second one this season for another dinner . Leaving holidays behind is so bliss full ! It's another day around here . I do not miss Xmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and doing things for a day on the calendar! Enjoy the day ....
Watching this I think about a sad time of my life I had a full time job as a low level government employee and was in the military reserves and I barely made money to pay for my bills. That November I had spent my paycheck keeping the electricity turned on and having gas to go to work. My fridge was empty. So I went to the active duty base and asked if I could pay to have thanksgiving dinner and they allowed me to. That was the happiest day for me. Today I’m still lonely as I was before but I have my own place and most bills are paid and I have money to buy whatever I want to eat these holidays. I’m very thankful for being in a better place, and if there are somebody who are going thru difficulties, remember everything gets better. And there is help where we least expect. But God will show you the way if you are willing to listened. Hope you all have a wonderful thanksgiving.
Karla, look for a volunteer opportunity to serve dinner on Thanksgiving or Christmas. I remember being away from my family and alone for the holidays, it was very difficult for me. Joyce

Times have changed with me and my family. It’s just me and my son. He could care less. And he doesn’t like turkey. So we have both ham and turkey because it’s not Thanksgiving without turkey. I really appreciate your special touches on making traditional holiday dishes into something spectacular.
For our Thanksgiving I'm getting thick sliced turkey deli meat to wrap around stuffing and top with gravy and baked in a casserole 😊 it's just the 2 of us and it's much more affordable to do something like that than whole turkey
@@jenmonty1007 it's very good and very affordable. I'm planning on having doctored up instant mash under the rolls this year. I love that I can bake my green bean casserole at the same time too since they have the same temp and bake time requirements
Lisa, you are such a blessing to so many people. It's so nice to see how to stretch our food dollars when prices have become so incredibly high. You always have such great ideas and you've definitely inspired me to make some of your creations in my own home. There are only 3 of us for Thanksgiving this year so this also helps give me ideas for cooking smaller dishes. I absolutely love your channel and get so excited whenever you post. Blessings to you and your family. ❤️
my favorite nostalgic part of Thanksgiving was always a cold turkey sandwich on white bread with Miracle Whip at leftover time, so I may just do that with thick deli meat and just eat hot sides
I really like the Butterball smoked turkey, it’s already fully cooked so you’re literally just heating it. I bought one turkey in October for Thanksgiving and I bought one turkey in November for Hanukkah. Buying one turkey per month ahead meant I got the turkeys I wanted and I don’t have to go in search for one in December. I also bought two cans of cranberry sauce, a bag of great value yeast rolls, two cans of yams and two boxes of stuffing. All of which will be divided by one can of each, one stuffing and one turkey per holiday since it’s only me, my husband and my son.
I am definitely making a Smart Ones roasted turkey and mashed potatoes with a few small sides for my thanksgiving dinner. I don't hate the turkey and really enjoy the gravy it comes with. I'll probably get away with spending $5 or so. Hooray!
Lisa, I wanted to say how much your channel stoked my love for cooking. After the lockdown, I had to reconsider my previous career of 10 years. I watched so many of your videos for the past 3 years. I recently decided to become a line cook because of how happy food made me. Your dollar sense and creativity has helped me. Now I am loving my new path. Thank you! I am grateful for you doing your thing on here. :)

Thank you Lisa. Been missing your regular content, but I know you are a busy woman. Nice to hear you mom's voice...think this is the first time. Take care for the holidays and say hi to Andrew.
Making a turkey with gravy, even though I hate turkey. My husband n kids love it. I brine it the night before. Making the usual stuffing with Italian sausage, baked potato casserole with bacon n cheddar cheese, sweet potatoes, a veggie, salad, and a charcuterie board as an appetizer with bread. I think everything cost me $50 and it will serve my family of 4 kids, their spouses, 3 grandkids, hubby n me. Everything I bought was on sale locally, 5 lbs potatoes 2.99, 5 lbs sweet potatoes 2.99, stuffing mixes .99 each, turkey was 18.00, cheeses, dried meats 1.99 each, bread. And I live in NJ one of the most expensive states. What’s important is to shop your local sales n store everything u til the holiday.
Ive been watching the ads for the stores in my area. I ended up with a turkey breast for $11 from Aldi, I got green beans and corn for .50 a can, I got potatoes for 1.50 a bag and I got Mrs Cubbinsons dressing (that I'll fix according to the box) for $2. I already have everything I need for gravy and also everything I need to make a homemade pie. 😊
I’m inspired to ease up on some of the labor intensive and more expensive recipes, and just enjoy the basic traditional dishes. It will leave more time to enjoy and be thankful for the people I love. A Blessed Thanksgiving to All! 🧡
When you shop around, you will find awesome turkey prices right now. I found 3 local sores last week and this week have whole frozen turkey for under 50 cent a pound. Even cheaper than chicken or a can of veggies per pound. And then you have plenty of bones for bone broth, and if you thaw it and separate it into smaller pieces you can eat most of the season on it. I found a turkey for cheaper than a 10 pound bag of potatoes.
Yes, turkeys were on sale last week and again for the coming week in my area for .49 and .99 cents per pound. Also hams from .79 and .99 cents a pound.
Cheapest turkey I’ve seen is .99 a lbs. Ham is higher, $2.39 a lb for honey glazed spiral (his favorite). Will make both next week and freeze individual meal portions for later. Make broth from both; bean soup and chicken (turkey) dumplings in our near future. And turkey enchiladas! And Bobbie subs! Scalloped potatoes and ham. Ham and Swiss sliders. Big fan of cook once (twice) eat for a dozen or so days!
Happy Thanksgiving! This is the first my mom and I will be celebrating without my dad, so we’re going rogue with our recipes. We’ll be watching your videos for fun on Wednesday night! Thank you ❤
When money was tight I would buy a turkey roll for about $2.50. ( now if you can find them they are $6.00) Looked for sales for the other things and bought pieces instead of bags of veggies like you did. Made my dressing from a loaf of discounted bread from the bread store and for dessert a very unconventional vanilla ice cream with a pie crust round at the bottom of the dish with raspberry sauce I made from berries I picked during summer. The best thing was that no one complained about anything and said it was the best Thanksgiving ever. Which LOL, they said every year !
Nice work, as always! The stuffing was crying out for some sage and rosemary; I think poultry seasoning would have worked better than Italian seasoning, but I understand working with what ya got.

I thank you very much for this video too I appreciate that you did not waste the potatoes and you utilize them very good idea for what she did with them
Unfortunately nothing is the same as it used to be but I think that turkey was still a good option. I grew up on those too (and boil-in-the-bags - I loved those) and it probably used to be just as processed but they used to take the effort to make it look like it was sliced off a turkey. Some of the stores in my area give free turkeys if you spend a certain amount of money so I haven't had to pay for a turkey in years, thankfully. Because as you've shown you can do a nice Thanksgiving dinner for not too much money once you take the turkey out of the equation, if you stick to the basics and don't have a ton of people to feed. It's mainly veggies and inexpensive carbs.
This was ironic. I thought about the family size Banquet Turkey from Walmart the other day. Being by myself, I didn't want to buy a whole turkey. Didn't want the single meal because I didn't want the limitation of mashed potatoes and peas. I really enjoy all your videos. Please do more with Walmart.
Agree but I love turkey gravy and turkey Stovetop Stuffing 😋. But they sell it at such a ridiculously cheap price that you can’t pass up the deal. And it’s one of the freshest meats you’ll find. I plan to thaw mine and cut it up and freeze in manageable portions for many many meals. Plus bones for bone broth, as well.
I am not on a tight budget but I sure like cooking low-cost and finding ways to make stuff that doesn’t cost a lot. Your demeanour is so friendly and upbeat that your videos really bring light to my day. Thank you for sharing your cooking experiences with us. ❤

We are smoking a turkey. We got a 16lb at HEB for $.45/lb ($7). Aldi has 10lbs of potatoes for $3.49 and butter for $2.49lb, as well as green beans and cream of mushroom soup for $.49/can, and pie crusts 2/$1.79. Making some pumpkin pie, green bean casserole. I was hoping to see you again for the holiday. Oh I saw that turkey usage with Rebecca at Dollar Tree Meals! Out west they don't have that in our kroger or walmarts for some reason. It's a shame because I remember as a kid I loved those slices and with there were more.

Lisa - I really have to commend you. You did an excellent job with $20.00. If a family just has a little bit of money and a good imagination, a good meal can be had! Great job and Happy Thanksgiving!
I love love love this channel! You are so inspiring ❤️. The biggest compliments I've ever had on meals I've made was when I had to whip up something from nothing. Growing up poor you have to get creative and that has served me well during terrible economic times. ❤
Great video! So glad to see you again. I remember those frozen meals very well. I’ve come a long way since then but I would buy them again before going hungry. ❤ great ideas for tight budgets. Happy Thanksgiving!🦃🎉
Nice Thanksgiving meal! You always put something together that is easy, affordable and delicious. I wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving!! On a side note: I noticed you're looking quite tired. I certainly hope everything is going ok with you. You always have a beautiful smile and uplifting personality. I just pray you're doing ok. 🙏 Hugs to you. ❤
I’ll never forget wandering around an open to midnight (those were the days) Kroger tentatively scraping together a Thanksgiving for my pals, marking a similar meat choice. I got home, unloaded the groceries, and to my shock found a huge frozen turkey in my truck bed. What a time we had on the day. I think my dessert was a crustless pumpkin pie (it makes its own crust, enough to pick it up by the slice, anyway, make it in a blender couldn’t be less fuss. Google a recipe, I like them.) As a Texan , I could never spurn your homemade dressing but it seems wrong not being based on cornbread, lol. I love your channel and the obvious love you bear for family and friends.
In one of the pandemic years I could not find cranberry sauce or canberries anywhere. I bought some inexpensice raspberry preserves and added a bit of apple cider vinegar to it to make it more tart. I could've added lemon juice if I'd had sny. I think I also could've used some type of canned berries, frozen berry blend or pie filling. One year I had been gifted bags of really great tart dried cherries so I made a yummy tart cherry sauce to have with our turkey. That sauce was a hit with our guests. My Aunt, who was a great cook asked me for the recipe, what a compliment!
I bought chicken and made something called thanksgiving in a crockpot dinner, it was great and leftovers were the best. Whole meal was under $20. Don't forget to buy the day old pies and rolls to freeze for Christmas. They will be 1/2 off.
Hi Lisa 👋 I definitely do not have a lot of options for shopping where I live, but I’ll bounce between the few. I just cannot get over prices this year for dinner, just compared to last year. Which wasn’t the best prices last year either. It’s honestly quite scary how inflated everything has become. It’s no wonder why we have such a high number of homeless and families struggling. Those potatoes looked so delicious 😋 and honestly, I’d be fine with that turkey dish as well. It definitely takes me back to childhood. Thank you for another amazing video and a very Happy Thanksgiving to you, Andrew and mom if we don’t hear from you again beforehand 🦃 🥧 🥘 🥛 🍨 🍁🍄 🎃 🫶🏻
Not sure where you're from, but I haven't changed my Thanksgiving too much and the prices are pretty much the same where I live. I watch the sales and I plan ahead. I keep it affordable.
Omg, if possible, this Thanksgiving dinner was even BETTER than last year’s, which was pretty darn awesome! Lisa, you are a cooking magician! You could take some dirt & make a delicious meal, I’m certain! I am so hungry now & this dinner looks 10 times more appetizing than any others I’ve seen, spending way more than the $20 you spent. Thank you so much for showing low income families like me how we can have delicious holiday dinners on budgets that are within our means! God bless you & your family & Happy Thanksgiving!🙏🏼🩷❤️🫶🦃🥧🥰
I love your videos. You are so creative. I started buying the ingredients for our Thanksgiving dinner a few weeks ago as I saw things I needed on sale. It's only going to be my husband and myself, so I bought a turkey breast. In spite of starting early, I still spent close to $30.00. We should get 3 to 4 meals for the two of us from our dinner. We don't mind eating leftovers for days. Take care Lisa, Andrew and Lisa's mon.

Happy fall ❤
Woo! Never been this early. Love your content ❤
Lisa - I really have to commend you. You did an excellent job with $20.00. If a family just has a little bit of money and a good imagination, a good meal can be had! Great job and Happy Thanksgiving!
You gotta be able to cook, too. Lol.
I love your happy, cheerful attitude. You are so appreciative too. I hope you have a beautiful Thanksgiving.
Great job!
The sides are what Thanksgiving is all about for me, and you made so many great-looking sides!
I love love love this channel! You are so inspiring ❤️. The biggest compliments I've ever had on meals I've made was when I had to whip up something from nothing. Growing up poor you have to get creative and that has served me well during terrible economic times. ❤
I just love your holiday meals-on-less videos. Thank you.
We got a whole turkey at Winn-Dixie for $0.49/lb.
We have to wait for sales, too.
Especially now.
Great video! So glad to see you again. I remember those frozen meals very well. I’ve come a long way since then but I would buy them again before going hungry. ❤ great ideas for tight budgets. Happy Thanksgiving!🦃🎉
tea cup dessert is super cute
Thanks!
Thank you!! 💙
Yay I love your videos, wish you could put out weekly ❤
Celery with pineapple cream cheese of mixed a drained can of crushed pineapple into cream cheese and the celery is a nice inexpensive appetizer.
That’s a good looking meal. I’m going to have to try those potatoes.
Been waiting for this video, Lisa! I watch your holiday content every year!
I bought a big container of crispy onions last week for Thanksgiving dishes, but I opened them for a little snack. Oops they're gone. LOL
I can never open those containers early.
Amazed at how much food you got and what a great meal this was for $20!
Your right dawn, the banquet Turkey looked exactly how it did on box
In one of the pandemic years I could not find cranberry sauce or canberries anywhere. I bought some inexpensice raspberry preserves and added a bit of apple cider vinegar to it to make it more tart. I could've added lemon juice if I'd had sny. I think I also could've used some type of canned berries, frozen berry blend or pie filling. One year I had been gifted bags of really great tart dried cherries so I made a yummy tart cherry sauce to have with our turkey. That sauce was a hit with our guests. My Aunt, who was a great cook asked me for the recipe, what a compliment!
Welcome back! Glad to see you are ok! Great video by the way as always!
Happy Thanksgiving! I knew you would be popping up soon. 😊
I bought chicken and made something called thanksgiving in a crockpot dinner, it was great and leftovers were the best. Whole meal was under $20. Don't forget to buy the day old pies and rolls to freeze for Christmas. They will be 1/2 off.
Love this channel.
I have been waiting for this! Happy Thanksgiving!!
Another great video! I am always so happy when you put out a new one. Happy Thanksgiving to guys!
I think this is the best $20 and under Thanksgiving meal that I've ever seen! Great job!
The fondant potatoes look delicious and they are definitely alot of work.
Great video as always and very happy to see your smiling face ❤
We had thick turkey deli meat in gravy that i heated up in crockpot along with sides, homemade biscuits.
Thank you for this video Lisa I enjoy your show keep making your videos I love them
I love fondant potatoes! ❤❤❤
I like these ideas. Thank-you
I was getting worried that you weren't going to do one. ❤❤❤❤
Lovely as always. Thanks, Lisa.
Yay! Another Lisa Dawn post! Great video, as always!
