Girl, you could put out Thanksgiving videos once a week for a year and I would watch them. It’s SO nice seeing a NORMAL person cooking. I hate those over processed, scripted videos where they live in a 10 million dollar mansion. What do we have in common with those people? Absolutely nothing. With you, it’s like watching a friend or a family member. Thank you for your great videos and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! ❤❤
Lisa, I've been watching you for over a year. This is like watching a friend cook. You are down to earth, and give smart advice. I hope you realize how many people you are helping here on UA-cam.
Absolutely! Hope she'll consider bringing us a video in July 2023 "Thanksgiving in July"! It would be fun, and compare prices of same items she bought here. [Just a thought!]
I still haven't gotten over how you showed us how simple it was to make noodles from scratch!! I know it has nothing to do with Thanksgiving ! Just wanted to thank you for helping us make great things when you can't afford much!! I was raised poor but we never went hungry! Our families and relatives were resourceful in things they grew and hunted and always keeping the simple things needed to make up a stocked pantry!! Happy Thanksgiving ya'll!!🤗 Stay healthy, happy and stay warm!!

I thank God for my grams everyday learning simple things like this helps so much !! There are so many gems out there that they useta use or do etc back in the day that are life savers 💯👍🏽🦋
That Lisa Dawn is more than just a thrifty cooking channel. It boosts my mood and brightens my day. You have a very special gift Lisa. I always look forward to your new videos, thank you!
Yummmmmm! With just two of us here, I never make a whole pie. I put one pie crust on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, add 1 can of filling to the center, spreading just a bit, add my spices (or not), fold the pie crust edges in toward the center leaving the center slightly open and then bake. It's a perfect small "tart" like pie for just us two.
2 Thanksgiving videos?! You're spoiling us. I love how you show different options and always try to think outside the box. Love your videos!!! God bless you and your family. ❤
Walmart has turkey wings for around $6. This is the option I'm going for the two of us on a budget. Also, don't forget about the loose veggies and the deli! You can grab small portions and a few slices of meats and cheeses.
I must have cranberry sauce, even if I have to open a can. Everything looks so delicious especially that artisan bread loaf. Thanks for sharing and God Bless!
When I was married my husband and I uses to enjoy eating a lot of our meals at the coffee table, he'd sit with his back against the couch and I'd sit on the other side. It felt more intimate than sitting in the dining room. I was someone that sat on the floor a lot in my youth, even in a room full of available seating. Despite my name I'm not Asian and no one else in my family does it so I don't know why I always have. Your date night looked fun.
I love love love the Turkey Breasts by themselves. I am NOT a dark meat person so they are perfect and NO WASTE for my family...... I season mine with butter, paprika, salt and pepper and same NEVER had a BAD ONE!!!! I'm not a pie person either but OMGOSH that pie crust filled with Turkey pot pie filling!!! OMGOSH my mouth is watering!!
You can take any left over dough and roll it out. Put some melted butter on it and cinnamon and bake flat. My granny called it her sugar pie. It is delicious.
I went through my pantry, all I had to buy was a turkey and fresh cranberries. The turkey was $6.00 and the cranberries were $.99. I do keep a pantry, have freezers & start planning my meals from what I have. Only had to buy a turkey because I used up the last one I had in my freezer, a couple of weeks ago so I would have stock for Thanksgiving. We will have a traditional dinner with lots of leftovers and 2 desserts!
Good for you! Stay low-stress. Decades of cooking for my family has taught me that allowing myself to enjoy cooking( as you obviously do), makes cooking a pleasant task and not a chore. Love your videos, by the way. They are delightfully restful to watch as well as being really informative.
The thing we all of should take away from this is the effort someone made to make a meal for whoever (friends, family) to enjoy. Very simple. Doing the same thing next week. Not doing traditional Thanksgiving for other reasons this year. Won't be at home and limited resources but going to have a good time.
Thank you for doing each of these videos! I have been shopping around and realize my local grocery store is actually more expensive than the surrounding stores, even the "fancy" market had many items much cheaper! It feels like a giant puzzle I am trying to figure out!

Absolutely love every one of your videos!!! I’m a 68 yr old senior, married 47 years & I learn so much from you. My Mother was an amazing baker, always had homemade bread growing up. I love watching you bake & one day I’m going to try making bread & that pie crust!!!
I'm glad you say that! I was planning to do a video on it and was wondering if people would be bored or into it. My Friendsgiving is this weekend, so expect that video to be up before Thanksgiving 💙
I love this Thanksgiving meal. You've shown me that I can make it whenever I want to have all the Yummieness of Thanksgiving any time. I'm going to be moving into an apartment and this is perfect and I will have leftovers. 😋
I can't even begin to express how impressed I am with this dinner! Absolutely gorgeous bird, pie ,and dressing. I almost forgot about the gravy and veggies. Really truly an amazing and inspiring video.
Just a comment for perspective: I just went through a very similar shopping list at my local Safeway here in suburban Honolulu and pretty much did the same for only $40. There were a LOT of deals, including an $8 loss-leader turkey. Happy Thanksgiving, Lisa and everyone!
Hi Lisa--I LOVE your videos! We have Winn-Dixie stores down here and I got a full-size Jenny O turkey for 0.49 per pound (limit 1). I really admire how you do so many things from scratch--bread, rolls, pasta, etc. Watching your videos has made me a better shopper--thanks! Happy Holidays to you and your family!
So good....mmmmmmm....tip...roll out extra pie crust, spread butter over top sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar....pop into a 350 oven until golden brown. Of course on a cookie sheet. Or make little fruit tarts using your favorite jam or jelly. Your pie looks amazing...love it when they turn out well. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours😊
Thank you for being one that doesn't think you have to make a green bean casserole. You also proved that the major grocery chains are making you spend more money to so call save money on a turkey but some of use need more than one and don't need the extra groceries that you have to spend to get that second turkey because the limit is one. I needed 3 for a church meal but had to buy the breasts which might be more per pound but came in under $20 dollars for each compared to $30 to $35 dollars. We bought 3 hams too and I have to feed about 140 people with that on a small budget and I spent around $103 dollars for around 85 pounds of meat. Each family will bring a veg or some kind of dessert or casserole if they can but no one will be turned away.
I'm not cooking this year. From time to time we eat out for Thanksgiving, and this is the year. But when I do cook it's for many people and I take two days to prep and cook. I pick and choose what short cuts to take to make it easier and you always have such good ones and great tips. I shop weeks ahead because I hate crowds when shopping and I don't generally shop in multiple stores because of gas prices distance so I do miss some good sales. I love your videos. You are so down to earth and real. I keep going back to your older videos because I enjoy them so much. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I enjoy that you are doing more then one version of the same festival. That Apple Pie looked amazing! I feel that one tin made it deep enough. For me, I would only use two tins if I had a lot of people and even then, I would prefer to make two pies with one tin each, though that would be extra work! Thank you for the video! Have an amazing week!
I have to thank you. After watching one of your Thanksgiving videos, I used two tips that really paid off in our family’s dinner: 1. I brushed the butter on the turkey to brown it as it cooked instead of spreading the butter the way I used to do, 2. I used half broth/ half water in making the dressing, and it was MUCH tastier. I’ve been cooking for a family for decades and these two tips were new to me and excellent. Thanks for the great videos. I really enjoy them.
I will never have enough great things to say about you. The work that you put into these videos & the goodness in your heart is incredibly inspiring. Keep up all of the awesome work!
That looks like a great meal!! Beautiful and tasty and also bountiful! On the pie crust, it did come out looking perfect. Tip: when you don't have an egg for a wash, you can substitute a little melted butter and get a beautiful finish, too. Thank you, Lisa. Happy Thanksgiving!!

A store near me had sweet potato for 5 lbs for one dollar. I love them so I got a lot of them. I like homemade bread better than store bought. Turkey was .99 lb.
I'm so grateful to have so many good prices by me, the sales are beyond what i could've wanted. One of my local chain stores has turkeys for $0.59/lb with a $25 purchase and 5 pounds bags of russet potatoes for $0.49 --- that's half the meal right there!
@@ThatLisaDawn It's limit 2 bags of potatoes so I'm buying 2 and I'm going to experiment with freezing them. I read if you par cook them they freeze pretty well, so I'm gonna fill my freezer with them and use them for home fries, soup and mashed potatoes.
@@getoffmydarnlawn most potatoes eaten in late summer have been stored for nearly a year. Potatoes keep really well if taken out of plastic and stored in cardboard, brown paper or fabric in an extremely dark cool place. You want it about fridge temperature if possible but not below freezing. Super dark is very important so if you can cover with blankets over the box/bag it will help. And if you can get mucky/dirty potatoes they will store the best.
@@ThatLisaDawn I did, also, Lisa. Here in Central Alabama, Aldi had (I believe) a 5 lb. bag of russets for $5.95 ($1.19/lb.). I couldn't pass up the 10 lb. bag of russets for $2.89 ($0.29/lb.). Had to really think about it, though, because I live on the second floor and have to walk up with all my groceries! 😂
I can’t tell you how much I enjoy your videos. You are the most down to earth, humble and quite the talented Chef 👩🍳 in the Kitchen Girl. Another Fabulous video! 🥰💞 Enjoy your Holiday!
I am alone and ended up buying a turkey (Walmart had 16-24lb range as the smallest option and ofc I got the 24 pounder chosen for me!) so I am planning to eat the dark meat which I hate leftover then do portions of white meat in baggies and toss in the freezer for soups. Your channel is really inspiring. So thank you for your efforts in providing us with this content.
One thing I do to save money from buying so much butter, etc. for cooking is I save my bacon fat and fat from frying hamburger. The hamburger fat usually has liquid too, so I refrigerate overnight, them skim the fat off to use. The liquid, I put in a container I keep in the fridge with odds and ends of meat and veggies. When it gets full, I add whatever I think it needs, and I have a pot of veggie soup, and it is delicious!
This meal looks scrumptious - especially that apple pie! The crust was a work of art, IMO! Thank you for adding in homemade bread and pie crust - super motivating. What a great video! Wishing you & your family a terrific weekend.🥰

Sweet potatoes are a tricky one to grow. They grow better in warm climates. I’m in zone 8b in Canada. Sweet potatoes are a grocery store item for us 😁
@@tenthousanddaysofgratitude They grow well here in North Carolina where we both live. They are farmed here in many places and you can get many from a single sweet potato you buy from the store.
girl with the way the world is today.. the costs of food.. people are not even wanting to do thanksgiving.. and thats a shame... i never thought of shopping at aldi.. im gonna go check them out.. and i think i can speak for many on here.. we dont care what you cook.. your saving us money.. giving us tips.. and hints.. in my eyes.. your awesome ... and can relate to all of us struggling!
I got a ton of stuff to make sides, plus a bunch of snacks, coffee, cookies, and other random stuff for around $60 from Aldi. It’s enough food for the 15 or so people coming over, plus leftovers.
I’ve been a silent viewer long enough!! You my dear are very creative & aren’t afraid to take risks. You’re truly an amazing chef. A store near me had sweet potato for 5 lbs for one dollar. I love them so I got a lot of them. I like homemade bread better than store bought. Turkey was .99 lb.
"Wisdom and privilege". What an insightful way to say that. Love you Lisa Dawn ❤
I'm so grateful to have so many good prices by me, the sales are beyond what i could've wanted. One of my local chain stores has turkeys for $0.59/lb with a $25 purchase and 5 pounds bags of russet potatoes for $0.49 --- that's half the meal right there!
Wow, that is an AWESOME deal on potatoes! I'm getting a 10 lb bag of russets for $2.89 for my Friendsgiving dinner this weekend.
@@ThatLisaDawn Great deal Lisa.

Your pie was beautiful!
Excellent program and the pie turned out beautifully.
Yes, another post! Love your channel!
You did an awesome job again. THANK YOU
I am alone and ended up buying a turkey (Walmart had 16-24lb range as the smallest option and ofc I got the 24 pounder chosen for me!) so I am planning to eat the dark meat which I hate leftover then do portions of white meat in baggies and toss in the freezer for soups.
Yes, a pasty blender would be great, I got one a few years ago and I love it.
This meal looks scrumptious - especially that apple pie! The crust was a work of art, IMO! Thank you for adding in homemade bread and pie crust - super motivating. What a great video! Wishing you & your family a terrific weekend.🥰
What a beautiful meal. I'd say I'm blown away that it only cost $25, but I've seen your sorcery, so knew what you were capable of. It's still quite impressive!
Looks amazing. I love the idea of putting all those veggies together.
Hi Lisa 👋 omg is there anything you cannot make? Seriously, how delicious this all looked and that pie was cooked to absolute perfection 🥧 ❤ I just kept telling myself, no Tammy, you are a grown woman and no they cannot adopt you 😂🤣 seriously though, I bet Andrew gets super excited when you are filming, just knowing something delicious is coming. I would absolutely love to see you do a homemade original cheesecake, crust included, please 🙏🏼🙏🏼 as usual, it was so great to see you again and looking forward to the next one.
