hey nick, i run 4 paddles after running 2 paddles for years, and having square bound to a paddle is a huge QOL not just for swaps, but literally every interaction is better
Do what I do Nick, I don't play claw and have 2 paddles, my right is jump and my left is crouch. I use hold to crouch for advanced movements, I use down on the dpad for heals, easier accessible, I can switch heals so fast it doesn't even show on screen. I use L1/R1 for my shooting (less travel distance since it's a button press and not a trigger) and I use R2 to grab items (square is to ping, which took some getting used to but it's easy after about 2 weeks of playing. Take 2 weeks after each button change, then it'll become second nature 🔥
That’s exactly what my 4 paddles are. Heal and swap guns on left and loot and jump on right. Just started that a couple weeks ago with the new scuf and it’s been a bit of a learning curve but it’s definitely improved my game!
Been playing claw for 5 years now no problems so far lmao
Yeah. Problems never happen after years of years and years of doing them.
Source: not a Doctor
5 years ain’t nothing my whole gaming career I’ve been playing it and it’s not good. Doesn’t mean imma stop lol
Nah it's entirely the wrong way to use a controller.
I use claw for triangle / y button only. I have two paddles for jump and crouch. Do it so I'm not taking my thumb off the right stick
Ngl it probably matters when you get older I'm talking 10 to 20 years from now
Claw was just how I learned to game lol I’m locked in
No way boi
I started learning claw recently, despite using paddles for years. Even with 4 paddles, claw still offers advantages. That being said, I found playing with 2 fingers on the trigger/bumpers for a while gets you comfy, then clawing is a simple move of the index finger
Keep in mind claw is a general term, but how each player will grip the controller can still vary in the sense of rotation, height, grip intensity, and so on. Hand size and shape also vary. That said maybe not for everyone.
Only intelligent comment I’ve read so far
100% this. I can comfortably right hand claw on xbox controller but its utterly uncomfortable for me to claw on dualsense.
Heres why i think xbox is easier for me to claw. The RB and RT buttons are smaller and closer together than the ps5s. When i put my middle finger on xboxs trigger, since the trigger is higher up closer to the xyab buttons that leaves me plenty of room to move around my index finger. Whereas on dualsense, the r1 is way thicker than rb on xbox. Therefore, the trigger position is a lot lower than the xbox’s one if that makes sense. So when i put my middle finger on dualsense trigger, i am spreading my middle and index fingers too far apart and that leaves me no room to move my index finger.
But hey everyone’s body is different. Some people can claw just fine on either controllers. Some dont. But generally speaking, it is easier to claw on something smaller. Try “clawing” on ur tv remote. Put the remote in between ur index and middle finger and try to click the button with the side of ur index. Practice applying force to the side ur index finger.
With xboxs controller, u also dont have to claw ur left index finger to reach the healing button.
Everyone tryna claw just need to find a comfortable hand position where they are not straining to reaching every button once you find that just practice that until it feels natural
LOVEE!!! the NEW video style
u ever try switching interact to rb or r1 it makes looting on the move very easy aswell as zip tech
I rock a weird setup but it sorted all my issues with button layouts.
The major things are:
reload/interact is R1
Ping x
Square is my abilities (I would put this on a paddle if I had them)
L1 jump
R3 crouch
I play similar
on point with the approach.
been clawing since i started trickshotting back when bo1 was poppin and tbh pretty happy i stuck with it has helped me out alot in games like apex and halo you have to practice with it so your finger gets the muscle memory and dont rush it or it will hurt all the time
Damn I been doing it since MW2 days. I actually got good at it fast . I’m not having to problems
I dont claw and use two paddles. But i drastically changed my button layout so it works for me. My interact/reload is R1 and my heal is L1. Then my left stick is the tactical and my right stick is ping. And my back buttons are jump and crouch. So i can usually hang with the cracked claw kids.
I’ve been playing claw for about 13 years and nothing lol I think it just has to do if your ligaments etc can sustain that type of movement and positioning long term, I flip triangle and x so my finger has less travel to jump
I play claw for almost 13 years now, my finger is fine, everything is fine, tbf it wikk hurt for the first month but after that it will be fine... i would be so down to help you play all the types of claw, claw player since mw2 trickshots where it all started, i still on the grind and one day, maybe i will be able to compete 👊 keep it up
I’m trying learn claw bro! Any tips or videos u think I should watch
@@hemtaiknight9461 send me your in game is and we can hope on f range
@StrongIndividual Hey, wanna help me learn claw?
@@Jerriq sure m8 add strongindividual
Appreciate the honesty
You can bind your loot button to right bumper and tac as a ult is a+b and jump left bumper
Hilarious video nick,
Buh your big change may as well be starting KBM u know😃
I just switched my ping button with my interact button. so just swap square and r1. its nice and easy to adjust to.
Play with auto sprint and use the left stick for interact
"calm down, we don't need all that" lol
I need to start hip firing more I am so used to aiming in when I shoot that I screw myself over in close range fights
Been clawing for 15 years and I’m 21. been playing playing claw before I even knew what claw was just the way I held the controller as a kid. All I can say is I just have to crack my knuckles often but cracking your knuckles isn’t bad either according to doctors so I see no problems with it use what you got while your alive!!!! you don’t have to waste money or listen to others lol
Hey nick. I only use two paddles. What i do is bind pick up to right stick and crouch on my paddles instead of heal. Healing with dpad isnt as bad if u get used to it. Also i use switch weapon to l1 so now i dont need to learn claw. I can do all the fast shit with my right stick
I used to play controller normally and last year I decided to use claw. Took me 2 to 3 months to full get used to it. It hurt my fingers/joints but eventually got used to it.
I play claw on ps5. Only 2 issue is the O button for melee and using a single fire gun is very uncomfortable and compromises my aiming. Also, using R3/L3 for crouch or sprint destroys my thumb joint which is why I stopped playing Apex. I literally couldn't play because my hand got so busted up, even though I think it's the best BR out right now. Apex is easily the most difficult BR I've played too- feels like it's heavily geared towards KB&M gamers. Another thing, despite how customizable the controls are in Apex, I never once felt comfortable aiming or using movement. I tried so hard to find a comfortable layout and just couldn't do it- aiming was either too sensitive or not sensitive enough plus the discomfort with the constant mashing of L3/R3 I had to stop playing.
really luving ur scrims... hoping that u will upload here too
Because I missed it live, I just had to come here and say that Enya clip was gold 🤣
I feel personally attacked by this one 🤣🤣
Don’t punish you’re confidence with that. Play to you’re strengths, don’t be afraid to push.
You can loot way faster if you switch interact from x to rb
You should try the razer wolverine controllers. Once you get using a wolverine controller it's hard to go back to 2 or 0 paddles. They have 2 unique tactile buttons inbetween the triggers as well as back buttons.
Thank u someone wit a 🧠 best controller on the market
Try using 3 paddles and use square as the extra paddle then use r1 to heal
4 paddle controller is a w , mine is binded to jump, crouch(hold), interact (square/x), and heal
Yeah I have 4 paddles and my bottom right is jump above that one is square , on the left side my bottom left is crouch /slide and above that is triangle and it’s been helping alot more
This is such a myth, I've been doing claw for 17 years never had any pain.
Right? Not playing as long as you but I didn't see any problem's with my fingers health.
Right since mw2 trickshotting days for me no issues but I don’t play anymore
You may do later in life as your get older
I think it depends on the person because it hurts for me.
@@sunsetflxp7203 maybe, if that happens to you, I recommend that you warm up your joints a bit before playing claw
I’ve tried stopping claw for a scuf or even the paddle attachment that PlayStation actually dropped, cannot do it. Claw gang
4 paddles is the jam. It’s taken time to re-learn but personally after using something like the elite series controller, they should stop making them with buttons and just make them with paddles. It’s soo far above and beyond having the 4 button pad
Agree also the Power A controller for Xbox if yall like the Xbox controller is a really good controller for the price
* I like the PowerA Fusion pro controller not I haven't used the fusion pro 2 yet so no comment on that one
Hex controllers are boss. Hair triggers, 4 clicky paddles, bueno
They should jus make a 10 paddle controller with no buttons at all you sound like a genius make it happen
I hope you joking bro 😂
You can just claw square and triangle without the pain, it's x and O that will give you that pain honestly
I didn’t know how to claw before but I just started doing it now it’s like regular to me. You just have to keep doing it even if you suck then it gonna be muscle memory
I'm og controller style and only tweaked my fov because my vision is bad. I also tooked 5 off of my 10 setting off my curve I still beam ppl and etc.... I'm not the greatest but I have improved alot I use to everything stock.
You the man Nick
Peace and love MFAM
I use two paddles. Right paddles is jump and left is crouch. Makes sliding around and jumping easy. Don't like having right stick for crouch because it fucks my aim when shooting and crouching
I've been a quad paddle roller player for yearsssss, best decision ever but I could never go back to a regular controller.
Playing claw has messed up my right hand so much it's not worth it, but I've gotten so used to it that trying to play normal feels off or wrong
If you cant play claw and don't have paddles, change your crouch to right stick, interact/ pickup on ur left stick, jump left bumper. that will put ur tactical ability on x for ps4, a for xbox, and square or x will be for ur changing ur optics on scopes like 2x4 4x8. Btw if ur worried abt not being able to press ur left stick in for running and having to press square or x, turn on auto run. (turn on hold to crouch, not a need but it will help with movement)
Yep. And destroy your r3 and l3 buttons after couple months. Good advice.
I have been playing claw ever since I first started playing console 14 years ago. Honestly its just more comfortable for me to play like that. But I think people should play whatever is most comfortable and not sacrifice that just to be a little bit better.
As a claw player my only issues is that after playing for a lengthy time my fingers will lock up
Paddles help but you don't need to use claw.. use evolved controller layout or use a custom layout based on evolved but change the ping to X/A and tactical to R1/RB
Jump: L1/LB
Tactical or Interact/Reload: R1/RB
Crouch: Right thumbstick
Melee: O/B
Ping: X/A
You literally described my button layout but I switch the aim/shoot triggers for the R1/L1
I see people saying they have no pain playing claw… I’ve played claw for about 11 years. I work construction, hit the gym, go home and grind. Both my hands are in perfectly good condition aside from my pointer finger being extremely stiff. I believe that there’s no pain from other people. But my one finger is so uncomfortable, stiff, etc. recently switched to a scuf and my aim is actually a lot better. But seriously man lol save your fingers PLEASE
Dude I am about to start clawing because stick drift makes you need a new remote every few months from overuse.
I have Michel Jordan-sized hands so it's actually pretty easy and intuitive on Xbox remotes. But I am also tempted to by a paddle mod I can put on different controllers. There are options.
4 Paddles all the way just replace all 4 buttons with each paddle and your thumb will never need to leave the right stick, I’ll never go back after a scuf and elite 2. Movement is huge in apex so I focus my larger buttons on a and b with the left side being my crouch and right being jump
Everyone is different you (speaking in general) might experience pain and little timmy might not. Everybody’s body is different. That being said I been playing claw for 2 years and haven’t experienced any pain. Hope you guys find out what best suits you.
For people with smaller hands I recommend playing dragon claw. Your index finger will always be on the face buttons, your middle finger will rest on R1/RB and your ring finger will rest on R2/RT. This made claw 100x easier and comfortable for me
i think claw for like 5 years+ is a concern. Before that prob not
@@ohhzymo5829 it’s still not an issue, take scump for example. Playing professional cod using claw for over 10 years, no issues to report
@@ohhzymo5829 ive been playing claw for 10 years with no problems at all
@@GunzyHD he actually did complain a lot on podcast’s last year that his wrist was in pain last season so he had to ice his hand a lot
@@savibb9830 The difference is he played at a competetive level for over 10 years as one of the best of all time. Im sure lebrons knees hurt
I clawed and got a burning sensation in my forearm so I modified it so it don't hurt. I use my second knuckle on my index finger to press [square] x, [triangle] y and my first knuckle on my index to hit [circle] b . [X] a is really hard to push like this for me but I find it worth)
Brooooo square is holding me back!!!!! Lol story of my life
Simple tip for using the interact button like a pro is switch your ping (right bumber) to your X button.
Swap guns, reload and interact, jump, and crouch are bound on my paddles and it’s the best way to go imo.
I have my controller setting completely personalized I use 2 paddles, thumb only comes off for ordinance and select fire
Been playing right hand claw for first person shooters and default flipped is just top and bottom bumpers flipped. If I'm playing racing games it's normal, triggers are good for sensitive things like a gas pedal and brake. Ps4 bumpers are the best for shooters imo, hate the ps5 controller cause it's bigger, good for standard playstyles. Ps4 controller was smaller overall, and had a fuck ton of weird attachments for it. In rebirth I went from a .69 to a 1.21 in 8 months. Never grinded a game so hard and still enjoyed it, yeah I would disconnect every now and again mid game. And clusters and precision would kill me inside control on the first floor, or basement nova. Hope they bring a resurgence mode again, dmz is pretty much like tarkov.
I jump with right stick click and slide/crouch with left stick click. Bind square/X to paddles
I play double claw. I put my middle fingers on the top bumpers and changed them to ads and fire. It makes claw really natural and easy.
ive been using r1 for interact and reload for so long its 10x better than square highly reccomend!
i thought adding paddles would take a long time to learn... it took less than a week. if i want to change paddle binds it takes me about 2 days. But its not as hard as you think.
when i was 12 the first time i picked up a controller i played claw literally by accident and didn’t know till fortnite that it was like a different way of holding it was the sweaty way. it’s just comfortable for me it’s was i started with in b02 lol
Nick "If it ain't broke don't fix it" as he explains how it is broken and he plans to fix it.
Been playing as since bo2 and I’m chilling
4 paddles is definitely preferable to playing claw but the scuf controllers are so expensive and they break frequently. I've heard plenty of complaints from people saying they had a hard time getting the customer service to repair them under warranty
I have had my scuf with 4 paddles for 3 soon 4 years :)
Been playing claw since mw2. Never really had any issues but then I don't play for 4 hours+ a day so that might be a big difference.
No bm but i shoot with my bumpers and slide(crouch spam) with my right trigger. Its a lot easier than physically making a claw with my hand. I dont even need an elite controller to do it. I do suggest trying it out. Its alot easier than the basic claw.
Been playing claw since fortnite started now i play claw in COD had no problems with my hands but after a play a certain amount of hours i have to take at least a 30 minute break so i can rest my hand
Interact with r1 jump with L1 loot with r3 boom no claw needed
4 paddles is a must , I use jump, interact, swap, heals
4 paddles man changes the game. I’ve been using the Xbox elite 2 controller and have never gone back
Took me a while to get used to claw now I can’t go back. Even navigating menus I claw lol
ive been clawing since 2010 no issues now if i didnt claw and tried to pick it up then itll be a issue but each they own
Just change ur binds.. I have 2 paddles and never take my thumbs off.... left stick as holster/switch weapon and r1 as interact/ reload
I run 4 paddles and put my alt on a foot pedal. because i hate the stick press option in almost every game. Why more games don't allow you to use both m&k and controller inputs like Apex does is beyond me
verhulst keybinds help for sure if youre not playing claw or without paddles
I use two paddles and one is meds and the other is square, makes shield swaps super easy
Nick you need to switch that heal paddle to crouch asap. you can do exactly what claw players do thats, why paddles were made for you dont have to claw it but if you dont utilize the paddles then whats the point
Somehow, I use the up d pad for healing.
it just depends on how you claw tbh, i watched a flea video a few years back and ive never had any issues with it
Nick hear me out, 4 paddle controller. 1 for heal, 1 for super glide, 1 for tap strafe, and 1 for tactical ability, left bumper jump, right bumper interact.
I use Jump and Crouch on pedals, i think this is the best combination
i don’t play claw and I don’t have paddles, and I can do the quick zips, fast amour swaps, basically everything someone using claw can do
switched to claw during fortnite and haven't looked back
i learned how to play games claw from my older brother and cousins but now i use kb&m because my hand hurts everytime i try and play claw now lol
i think you should go 4 paddles. but take crouch away from thumbstick and leave healing on somewhere else. you can super glide, slide off ledges easier and add little crouch strafe and jump crouch hipfire beams when you dont have pressure on thumb🤔
i think best is to have crouch, jump, reload and switch weapons on paddles👌
I play claw even with back paddles... I just got used to it before I had paddles, now I have the best of both worlds
ive been playing claw naturally
i didnt even know there was different ways to hold controllers and yeah
ive just been doing it for the longest
I’ve got over 10 years and I gotta say it’s been of great benefit
You should definitely add 2 more paddles. My main 2 are jump and swap weapons, the other 2 on the outsides are interact/pick up and melee. Even if you don’t, I feel like you should have jump and swap weapons as your 2 paddles because swapping mid gunfight while keeping crosshairs on target is crucial in a 1v1 tbh. Healing doesn’t really need to be as fast, but if u get it down you can hold the depad and select any heal u want while you’re mid slide jump so it works fine. I’m just pissed cuz one of my outer paddles broke and SCUF is having a shipping issue so it’s taking FOREVER to get the replacement
People said 4 paddles was too difficult for them but when I first bought my elite controller I immediately used all 4 paddles. It was like riding a bike.
Why don’t you use the new scuf reflex ps5 controller
Whats your settings?
lol i play claw because i dont have paddles. a quick tip for people trying to learn, bind crouch to R3/RS and melee to O/B then rest your index finger above the face buttons and only curl your finger when you want to press the button so your hand doesn't cramp up. it should be fairly easy to get used to i learned it within a week 👍
Ain’t heard of claw since BO2 Trickshotting ahaha!! watching road to killcam Faze Apex. The Best Faze Series ever by the way. Linkzy used to hit the dirtiest shots every other game bruv😆
I made my botton layout "bumper jumper" and then remaped my R1 to be circle (crouch and slide), then ur utility is X and O and u can jump and slide with L1 and R1. Once u get used to it, it's OP
Nick have thought about trying overwatch 2?
Just got a Hex controller. Clicky hair triggers and paddles. Mucho bueno
I stopped playing claw after I got a Xbox Series S n a advanced controller with back paddles 😅 playing claw just feels weird to me
