I saw these in Farmfoods yesterday and it looked like all 4 sausages would be Frozen together so didn`t buy them but you`ve just shown me they can be separated so more suitable for a single person. I call Farmfoods the New Icelands as it`s one of the only stores where you can still get some good bargains. I liked the onion cutting tip. After 30 years of cooking for myself I still never thought of doing that, keeping the root on and making those first parallel cuts into it like you did. But I already know this is how I'm going to cut every onion from now on. Cheers for the review on these sausages. I'll keep my eye out for them.
I think you've just sold these to me mate. There's a Farm Foods near where I work in Littlehampton so I may just have to pop out at lunchtime tomorrow and get some! Keep up the good work Gareth. Great review as usual 👍
German sausages often have a thick casing that goes snap when you bite into the sausage. This is normal. In Cologne, where I lived for 10 years, the local Bockwurst is called Kölner Knacker and it's really tasty with a fresh crusty roll.
Gaz, do you always put the sausage on the onion or have you tried onion on top of the sausage? When we grew up in Liverpool, there was mobile hot dog sellers (in grubby white coats!) and they always put the boiled onions on top. I guess that's stuck with me after all these years. Great review Bud😉👏👏
Those look blooming great! Good idea to serve up some nice sauerkraut in the bun or alongside. Speaking of which I really need to make some sauerkraut, it's bloody delicious and super good for you if your veg intake is less than it ought to be. Captain Cook prevented scurvy on his ships by providing pickled cabbage to his crew,
Those sausages look amazing, i wept a little when you cut the dog to fit your bun! I like them sticking out a little each end. Also, you're the first person ive seen that read the hotdog construction instructions backwards! Dog in bun, then onions, then sauce and mustard!😂😂😂 Keep up the entertaining videos Gareth! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Always watch your videos Gareth. always brilliant reviews and in depth, sometimes people just want the quick feedback on food but you go out your way to show people what’s in it etc and I love that. I’ll definitely be getting these sausages when I next shop. Can’t wait till you get your 100k plaque, put it on the cupboard door! so we all know how far you’ve come. All the best, from Cambridgeshire 👌😎
A tablespoon of Brown Sugar and a tablespoon of Balsamic Vinegar in with that Red Onion Mate.Take it to a whole new level.Caramelised red onion over a Frankfurter.Good choice with the Mustard too
These looked absolutely scrumptious. I love German smoked sausages. Polish ones are great as well. I liked the nice snap on the casing, it probably does a good job to stop any cheese leakage. I know some people think that only sausages from Frankfurt are classified as real " Frankfurters ", but during my time in Germany I found that each area has their own version. Some are grilled and some are boiled. I've not had a cheesy one like these yet though. But I will be keeping my eyes open. I don't have a Farm Foods store near me, so I hope that other stores might sell them. A great review m8 and for £4.50 they were a great size too 👍👍. A good tip about putting the sauce and mustard in first. Saves wearing a bib to the BBQ 🤭🤭.
Great review! I’m going to try today the Pukka pie all steak… I’ll let you know. I’m also trying the Tesco cottage pie ready meal and also the beef with dumplings. Take care👍
They look great! Next time I'm munching on a cheesy sausage I'll be thinking of Gareth. We still have Friday to go but wishing you a good weekend. And always love seeing the subscriber count going up, and getting closer to 100K.
They doo look good and that sound as you bit into them. Beautiful. Exactly what you want from a frankfurter. A little pricey, but they are big and there's 4 of them so I'd say reasonable. As for the onion, it's not so much keeping the root on, it's the whole technique of cutting like that, more controlled cuts and less of the juices being sprayed out which the root does help with as well cause that end is still sealed till the last cut
Great video, like always. Btw, i can hit the like button multiple times, seemingly nothing happens. Saurkraut with those hot dogs, yes. maybe high salt but extremely tasty😋 Agree, like English mustard but, here way too hot

I do like a sausage skin to have some bite, and these sound great! The other day I thought I'd try a couple of smoked Polish sausages from our local Premier and sliced and cooked these with some Mediterranean veggies, black olives, and a tomato-based sauce, which I then had with tagliatelle - the flavour was great (meaty and salty), and the sausage skins retained a good "snap". Really, really nice. I notice our local Asda now has a little Polish section, and I really would love to learn more about what I can do with these interesting-looking ingredients... 😃

Had to try this after watching the video. You can get a cheesy frankfurter meal kit for just 99p at the moment, which gets you two of these wonderful snappy sausages, two mini baguettes and a very large sachet of ketchup. I’m not going to lie - better than the store that sells the best hot dogs in town (the one that I fear hehe). Only 10 minutes to cook in an air fryer as well. Moving on to the Mayflower curry and chips after checking out yet another of your videos earlier. Dirty Monday!
About 20 years ago I got to know an American stationed in England and we did a lot of climbing together.
