Ford Bronco 2 headliner install, weld free floor pan repair & how to paint interior.

- The last few videos have been focused on getting the Bronco II running and driving well. Now its time we turn attention to the nasty interior. Plagued with water leaks and years of crud, once the carpet started sprouting mushrooms it was time to get serious.
This video we remove rusty floor panels and crusty interior plastics. The floor gets replaced with a weld free solution and the interior panels are washed and painted the correct way. The diamond in the rough is starting to shine.
Love the RockAuto shoutout. Haha. I feel like John Ross should be available to anytime you need him. lol.
Glad you're back my man! Keep em comin'!
Crooked Rooster is back !
Welcome back! Looking forward to more videos.
You just don't see these on the road anymore. It's good to see one get saved
I like the time lapse segments because it makes me feel like the task is not nearly as much work as I know it is
And JR is where when you need him? Handing out candy...uh...wait! His AUDI is handing out the candy!
You're always there for him......uh....sigh....lol!
We all enjoy seeing you work over there and especially here on your own channel! I really enjoyed the Ranger build. My friend still has his 89 model from High School! We talked several times about doing a 5.0 swap. I have an 03 Ranger Edge Tremor Edition. It came with a nice Pioneer system upgrade that had a real Pioneer amp, sub, 4 speakers, and head unit. I compete in car audio and its finally getting the love that's deserved. I've had her since 2005 and 24k. She's sitting at 190k getting a pre-20 year old birthday present!
In fact, it was an 88 Bronco II that is heard my first real bass system. It had a Lanzar 15 running a LA Sound's Laguna amp and could make that ceiling bow +/- 3 inches!
I can't wait to see this one done!
Good to see you back!
Great tip on the magnets to locate the rails underneath!
If I could make a suggestion. Possibly... if you tied a line around the broncos roof through the doors (with the doors open) you could have a spot to put the head liner in and then lift the back up and set it.... One person friendly.
Good to see you back Josh.
Great content! btw... I called da cops on the guy who "thumbs down" this video!
Nice video!
Great to have you back. Hope you are doing well. ARGH - next to electrical working on interiors is The Worst.
Go Rooster, looking good. Comments are important.
Awesome video brother
Seeing you work on the Bronco and that Ranger reminds me of my grandpa's old ranger and how much I enjoyed riding in that growing up. feels very nostalgic. Keep up the good work Josh!
Happy to see a new video from you Josh
Man o man, i wish i watched this before i did what you did in the video. The screws through the floor pan was a great idea, i was just tacking and bending. My roof supports were also gone, just used some heavy duty construction glue. Cheers!
Good to see you back 👍👍👍
You surely need some better ventilation in your shop 😄😄😄. Glad you are back and looking forward to the next video!
I feel like this went through your head a few times during this. lol "John Ross made this youtube thing look so easy"
This is a great channel. I'll buy that off you when you are done Josh.
I'm so glad to see another one of your videos! I'm always impressed with them, Josh! Good work!
Love this content 👌
Great video! Glad to see you back on here!
Welcome back. More videos please sir!
It’s coming together well! Looking forward to the next video.
I think that the A pillars are after market that have been UV burned and you were just cleaning the burn.
Great job on the time lapses.
Drove a Bronco II in high school. Glad you're keeping this one on the road! They're becoming rare!
Love this. Love there trucks
Great job! happy to see a new video on the awesome B2! ❤️
really enjoy you on Watch JR, and love your own channel/videos thanks for great content
Always enjoy when you post a vlog.
Every time I do a head liner I use old bed sheets and clothes peg to keep it clean and a couple of bits of wood to strengthen it up..
Love this build
Looking forward to seeing the finished results. I hope you're keeping this one.
Really like this Bronco II series. Thanks.
The bi-annual Fractured Rooster Garage vlog has been release!! Ha Ha
Those A pillar pieces are probably just made of a different type of material for some reason. The heat possibly because around the windshield with the vehicle sitting in the sun gets super hot.
Great job on the dash trim.
Nice work! Assuming a full exterior paint job is on the checklist since you're replacing panels?
Yessir
Finally! 🙌
Welcome back😃
Nice! More! 🙂
The acetone is probably doing the same thing as a heat gun but chemically. I’ve blasted the wiper cowlings with the heat gun to return them to a new appearance and it works like your a pillars did. Probably can’t do it more than once or twice but works well enough.
Am literally doing the same build on an 84 for my daughter.
Do you know anywhere that sells the hard backing for the headliner? I have an 86 and have been looking for a while now and came up with nothing.
@@schweet4142 boneyard is the best bet
👍🏼
You are owed immediate @watchjrgo support. Where's the reciprocity.
Super content , keep on!
Great videos - have you replaced the door window channels? I’m in the process with my ‘86, it came supplied as one long piece but I’m assuming it needs to be cut into 2 pieces to install, any input?
try looking for some SEM interior dye paint, might get a better match
Great content as always. Keep them coming. What's your goal, flip it or driver?
Driver for my girlfriend.
Used Marhyde interior paint back in the 70', but appears they don't make it anymore....dash, arm rests, etc,
Don't trade it for the non-running Jeep Grand Cherokee!
Hold out for his R8, Just make sure you get the extended warranty
Great video man !!! Did you finish the Austin Healy build???? I just finished a Triumph TR-6 rebuild and changed the carb sys and the rear end......!!!
It's so close to done. A little bit of wiring behind the dash and for some reason the brakes don't hold residual pressure. I have to pump them up 2 or 3 times before I get any stopping power. The pressure is gone in 10 seconds after I release the brakes.
Panel bond is all you need?
I've got an 86 Bronco II 4x4 with an original 2.9L engine and 5-speed manual transmission. Wish it had more oomph.... especially from 0-30mph. I always feel like I'm too slow when taking off from a red light. Once i get past 30mph or so, I can keep up okay.
What's the most economical engine swap I could do? One less complicated.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Or is there something besides an engine swap to give me more 0-30ish power?
Stock tire size?
@@TheFracturedRooster yes, stock tire size. 205/75/15
Did you get it swapped? I’ve got an 88 with the auto riding on 225/75 R15’s and it’s bad enough on acceleration I’m hesitant to take it on highway. It has to be my daily so I need to figure out if swapping the engine or putting money into the 2.9L makes more sense.
@@OCtheG No, never got it swapped. I don't drive it too often but when I do, I'm mostly on the right lane and I try to avoid rush hour times. Bonus though, when I put gas in it, there's a 50/50 chance someone comes up to me and makes a comment or complement.
Hello, does anyone know the correct brand or name of the acetone used at 13:32, I would really appreciate it, as I want to try to clean the ones on my Bronco. Great day
What's the tool used to cut the floorboards? Looks like a pneumatic Dremel. What bit is that?
I know it by the name of a body saw. It's a very small Sawzall.
Do you know anywhere to find a replacement for the hard backing part of the headliner? Ive had my 86 for a bout two years and can’t find any. It didn’t have anything up there when I bought it
Wrecking yard is likely the best option.
@@patmclean1951 i have, the pos wont die.
I couldn't find any reproductions. A Salvage yard, or local vehicle part out is your only bet. I hear the later model ones are plastic. Mine was a brittle foam egg crate material.
Need tshirts. Something subtle.
Who makes floor pans where I get them at
Look for set for mine truck
i’m trying to redo the headliner in my 86 bronco 2 and i CANNOT get those grab bar handles out!!! i assumed it needed an allen key but none of them will fit! HELP
They are a strange sized bolt head. Maybe a 6mm or 7mm. They were uncomfortably tight but came out easy after I broke them free.
Is that some gpu miners in the back??
Yessir.
do you still own this truck?
Yep, we're hoping to paint it this summer.
I had a Bronco 2 back in the late 80"s . Watching your video makes me want to do something stupid and buy one. I have none of your skills!
what make metal bond did you use?
On this one I used Loctite PL3 Premium MAX, it's only $10 a tube. I've use 3M panel bond in the past. It's nodoubt better but is $50 a tube.
What brand panel bond did you use
Dupli color
Hi
Where is John Ross when you really need him?
first!!
Ya lost me at panel bond for a floor pan repair
New cars are assembled with it. I figure it's good enough for a $700 truck.
whatever you do, dont jump off the roof. Also- Gabe is the one that left the thumbs down.
