Bronco II gets gutted. Headliner recovery how to and I find a hidden surprise under the carpet.

- The last few videos have been focused on getting the Bronco II running and driving well. Now its time we turn attention to the nasty interior. Plagued with water leaks and years of crud, once the carpet started sprouting mushrooms it was time to get serious.

This is one channel that involves restoring cars I could actually afford, which I like a lot.
Awesome!!!!!!
exactly
Shit..I still couldn't afford a bronco lmao
Congrats on getting monetized! I like the Ranger and Bronco projects. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the “real world” content Josh. I enjoy your videos. Don’t knock yourself you are a natural - you will get more relaxed and comfortable with experience. You already have a leg up on 90% of other UA-camrs as you actually know what you are talking about…
I came over from JR but I certainly like your more down to earth budget friendly builds and restorations. Your stuff motivates me to get out there and mess with something.
yeah not everyone has a shop, tons of tools and tons of friends to help out with insane builds...
most poeple have a driveway and a few ratchets.
I said floor jack and a 2x4 out loud then had to laugh when it happened , looks good man nice work !👍👌
As with most other, I have always thought you should have your own channel with the knowledge you have. As soon as I found out you have started your own channel, I subscribed and have watched you worked out the kinks in the first few. Quality of video (audio?) is surely improving and there is good amount of content in each. Great job and please keep it up! And congratulations on being monetized.
BTW, probably a good idea to wear some form of a mask so the glue won't stick to your lungs.... 😂
Love your intro. Speaking of introductions. Put your intro Tire, Rooster, and Wrenches small on the middle or left front of the shirt. On the back "The Fractured Rooster Garage" and I'll be one of the first to place an order.
"I have a sketchy idea"... lol.. sounds like T-shirt gold right there.
Thanks for the content Josh! Perhaps more Ranger stuff coming too? Love the malaise era /80s/90s car & trucks! Cheers from 🇨🇦!
Yessir, in route
Josh, don't forget to ask for your %10 discount at the parts stores.
Cool project!, you’ve been a great mate to JR. Particularly when he went full UA-cam - hats off to you. & well done. Cheers from New Zealand 🤙🤙🤙
thank god those back side windows werent leakin i hear they are a pain
When said hidden surprise under the carpet, I was oooh me like surprises, maybe some more mushrooms! It turned out to be rust, me no likey that surprise.
Should Dynamat it before the carpet install. Swap the glass with the Ranger if its better..
I AGREE... BUT THEN AGAIN THIS VIDEO MIGHT BE WEEKS OLD AND HE MIGHT BE DONE WITH IT...
Yeah at least some dynamat oh the large sheet metal will help.
Don't use Dynamat, it's too expensive, Use B-Quiet, same basic stuff but sold wholesale for aeronautic industry and way cheaper to buy bulk. I'm not a sponsor, just been using them for years... www.b-quiet.com/collections/all-sound-deadening-and-sound-dampening
He said the magic words of doom "what's the worst that can happen". I will pray for you now.
The best thing on the channel is the fact, that you actually repair things instead of buying new stuff! Everybody can do that. It is quite character-building, and it is a healthy attitude! Thank you!
I grew up farm poor in western KS. Our parts store was a salvage yard of cars you kept on the back 40.
Congrats!!!!!
Ford Is Running A New Bronco Ad During Your Show!!!
I love these old Fords. Keep it up.
I have a 1984 bronco 2 that I'm just beginning to restore. This video was so helpful. Thank you!
Great job on the headliner
You say you're stressed, but you come across as easy going and relaxed.
I followed you from JRGo !!!! Keep up the great work!
Its a blessing this thing ended up in your hands. Love seeing these old gems restored. Less waste, nice wheels for someone. Win win for everyone.
Everytime that Jack handle hit that rear hatch I cringed waiting to hear the window shatter. So glad it didn't!! Thanks for sharing your projects.
yeah i was cringing every time hoping for the best
I'm like you. I feel compelled to first clean the crud before working on my vehicles.
The satisfied chuckle when you flipped the completed headliner the last time was awesome. Nice fix🤠
Favorite build on UA-cam right now.
Nice job on the headliner, I thought it was beyond hope. You will be glad you got the new glass.
Absolutely loving this series, Josh - great job!
Love the Bronco II content.
The headliner drill scrub could easily be on one of those "Oddly Satisfying" videos. Loving the channel, congrats on the monetization, well deserved!
My first restore I did was the headliner in my 1989 Ford F150. It is a very satisfying restoration. It lead to me doing my sun visors, which were way more difficult, which turned out pretty good. I am now working on my 1981 VW Rabbit which has a sagging cross beam. I'm glad I watched this first before just sending my headliner.
I really like those Bronco IIs. That's a nice little truck. Had an '86 Eddie Bauer 4x4 for my kid's first car.
I had one also, an '87 or '88 I think. Bought it used and I think Ford and an issue with paint and it faded real bad and got white streaks on the hood. I really liked it though. Did t look like it but it had a buttload of room when you put down the back seats. I wish I still had it
josh i live a few houses down from you but my mom won't let me help you cuz i'm a kid, hopefully when i get older i can help you build cars thx
Its always good to learn car repair
Hopefully you get to wrench in the future.
always nice to hear about kids that Want to Work...love the enthusiasm
Come on Josh, another gearhead in the making, go talk to his mom....👍
Contrary to popular belief being "a kid" does not disqualify you from learning new skills and the responsibility that goes with them. Look forward to all the knowledge you can, it will serve your future.
I enjoy this channel as I enjoy WatchJRGo and your content is getting better.
You are doing it right by fixing all of those items, the finish makes all worth it. Looks good.
Dude I love this channel. I learn something new every video.
those little Broncos and Rangers are so fun to drive, they're so small and light, especially fun if they are a stick shift
You know I love your doing this on the cheap… Some channels just get carried away because they have the money they can throw at things
Love the content
new favorite channel, thank you for putting these out. Cant be easy with a real life- I appreciate it.
love the bit about holding the razor blade in mouth! it deffinately helps!
Keep it up, I may get inspired to fix up an ole beater yet.
Working on project close to my heart (88Bronco II is what I have) and you are not afraid to try fixes your self
My mantra with adhesive is...The bigger the gob, the better the job! 👌🏼🤣
I came from WJRGo and your doing great. Have enjoyed the ranger and this project!
Keep working at it buddy. Content is getting better all the time!
I kept my old 1986 Ford Bronco lol… wife doesn’t know I still have it, hasn’t run in about 15 years! One of my retirement projects. Thanks s much for your videos Josh! There’s hope!
For what's damaged in that pan, I'd make a small patch in the front and weld the rear split back together. It's not going to be show car quality, but fine for a daily driver. Plus the $ 100+ and labor savings.
And *_that_* kids is why they teach you in Chemistry lab in High School to use your hands to wave the air above the open mouth of a jar full of unknown checicals towards you to get a whiff, instead of sticking your nose into the jar. 😆
I believe it’s called Wafting!
This was pretty neat, and I think the term you were looking for is "the bigger the glob, the better the job"!
Love the channel Josh can’t wait to watch you take off....
I rebuilt an 88 Bronco 2 from the ground up back in 2000. I had a silver one and bought a black one for the engine for the silver one. I ended up selling everything when I found out I had kidney Cancer. Ended up with no more cancer but chronic pain problem. Sold my boat and snowmobiles as well.
Hey battle, thanks for your service.
Good to see ya had your own channel in the making too. Came over from JRGO, subbed and look forward to your videos. All the best
Great projects and congratulations on your UA-cam success.
Nice video love that Bronco keep it up, enjoy seeing you make it on your own
Great video. Gives me a bit of inspiration on my old FSJ cherokee... Cheers from Miami.
Congrats on the monetization and as usual very informative with great tips
Thanks, its getting better.
You are so awesome Josh.👍🏻👍🏻
Wish you more success in future 👍 .
Great video!! Wicked smart you are, testing the front of the Bronco for water penetration into the cabin. My F150 is doing the same thing! Ugh! I suggest trying glass polish on the drivers side window before replacement. My assumption is other B/II side windows are scratched also. Practice makes perfect--it is kind of odd talking to a camera-but in time you'll think about it less. I just got done replacing the rear fuel tank pump/sending unit on my 89 F150. Removing the rear tank was easy--putting it back in---- a royal PIA !!!!!!!!!!! The factory pump was no longer working. I also replaced the main frame mounted pump as that was starting to fail-- low rpm on the electric pump motor. What you had to work with-- Fords cheapee design headliner pad-- you did a good job fixing it and then applying the headliner. Oh yeah my roof supports have broken away from the roof skin also!
Great video
A great way to find a leak is to clean all the seals and contact points then put chalk on the seals and see where it doesn't transfer on the contact points.
Really enjoy your videos. Lot of fun.
That headliner looks mint. Thanks for the inspiration. I'm halfway through tearing off a quarter panel and it's because of UA-camrs like you. 👍
Great job Josh, you do solid work brother
My uncle would get thins strips of balsa wood or pine and varnish them or paint them, then glue them to the roof, then tack or glue the headliner fabric to the wood. It functioned as sound deadening and gave a cool ribbed appearance. But he takes classics and makes them fancier. Makes good money at it too if you ever want to try it.
I was thinking structural adhesive for the roof supports. It's so strong I've actually done floor pan replacement with it. Nice job on the headliner!
That was exactly my thought. I used it on both roof and floor. Then smeared the squish out over the seams to act as a seam sealer on the floor pan.
Keep your head down and keep plowing straight ahead
That wasn't sketchy at all. Well maybe a little. I think I would've just used 2x4s to the floor but the floor jack was effective. I'm glad you got monotized.
now you're a headliner expert too. "Healy's and Headliners"
Thanks for the everyday man content. There's a lot of us who still just wrench on a tight budget. It's nice to see others do the same. I dont like watching rich people doing rich people stuff.
I watch it all Josh…it’s great! 10K next month, 20k the following month. Your good, hard work and GREAT personality will take care of it - along with all of our help, liking, subscribing and sharing. Love it man, keep it up!
Enjoying your vlogs Josh! Keep it up. And way to go on getting monetized!!!
I always keep a few scraps of wood around, one came in handy just a few days ago on a project bike. Awesome work on the videos!
I cannot overstate how much I'm enjoying watching your channel grow. Keep up the great content!
Really enjoying your content from over here in the UK. Projects done to a good standard, but not using "all the money" approach is ideal. Currently working on my 1985 T3 (Vanagon!) at the side of the road, so envious of your garage setup!
Love the channel and the content. Keep up the good work!
Glad to be here! Keep the videos coming!
Love these trucks.. I had two over the years. I wish I could find a decent one to restore.
Looking Good!
Thanks for the content loving it over hear in the uk
Congrats . Great video
Not bad Really like the video. Cant wait for the next one.
Subscribed! Excited to see more on this truck.
Congratulations Josh. Great content.
I had the same cracking issue with my 86 Fiero headliner board. Those are fiberglass though. The recommended fix for them is to patch the cracks with spray adhesive and pieces of cereal box on the back. Worked pretty well. Congrats on the channel!
Love the videos. Project cars that anyone can handle, done in the home shop. Keep up the good work!
Love these videos! Working on car projects and improving them is my favorite content. Look forward to seeing more. Thanks 😊👍🏻🇺🇸
You're a class act, Josh! 'Im really diggin' this channel and your approach to shade tree mechanics. Keep up the great work!
My father's 85 and later, his 89 B2 had the same issue with the weather stripping.
The seal around the windshield isnt the best either and pinholes were common.
The drip rails are supposed to help, but rust makes it a problem later on.
One thing i highly suggest you get, are window deflectors, they help a lot with water and for the smoker's window.
Great job on the headliner! While you have the interior panels out, its the BEST TIME to put in sound dampening foam inside, especially since the back of the B2 can act as a resonance chamber (or subwoofer) for road noise.
I got a scetchy idea those are the best idea's in my experience love the channel
I'd rather watch you working on 80's classics in your garage than Jay Leno any day. Great work!
Great job on the way your becoming increasingly comfortable speaking to the camera/viewers. Love the content.
Looking good
Really liking your videos. Can’t wait to see how the interior turns out.
Good stuff. Your doing a great job figuring it out.
Josh,
Loving the content. I can already see the improvement in your videos.
Looking forward to thenet next one.
That’s funny, I took my BII to Texas to visit an Army Buddy back around 1999, and that’s exactly what he was saying, he felt like he was riding in Quart Can of Oil, from the roof popping in and out with the wind!
