    This video is awesome! Having Paul explaining facts about the cymbals he creates is so interesting, do more stuff with him if you can!

      Unfortunately he was let go from zildjian a few years ago

    I started out with zildjian cymbals when I was a kid. Later in my early 20s through my 40s, I played Paiste. I recently made the switch back to Zildjian in my early 50s, and I'm glad I did. Paiste make some really superb cymbals, but my ears just couldn't take their bright sound that they're famous for. Playing K's and the beautiful and redesigned A Zildjian hi-hats now. They all compliment each other perfectly.

      Same here. I recently sold all my Paiste and only play Ks and some Istanbul cymbals now in my 50s

  • @TXMusicDrummer

    The 1970s Ks were made at the then Zildjian factory in New Brunswick, Canada which also produced the AZCO cymbals. After the split between Armand and Robert, the Canadian factory eventually became home of Sabian cymbals.

    It’s so cool to hear how much thought goes into making a cymbal, and how every K has its own story. That brilliant K Custom 19” Fast Crash really needs to become a part of the catalogue. Great video guys!

      @kridedrummer 6 років тому +1

      @Arnav Gairola K Custom fast crashes are only currently available only in 14"-18" sizes. 19" and 20" sizes are still prototypes and not for general sale

      Well....sort of. SABIAN is run by another branch of the Zildjian family. Both brands are great and I have both. It depends on your tastes. Even though the brothers, Armand and Robert, had differences of business and professional opinions and went separate ways, I think the result is better competition and products in the long run. This is called capitalism and the customer always benefits from competition.

    Though I have a 24" K light ride which I love and would have liked to have a review on that one!

I have one of his Joe Morello take 5 tribute cymbals and it is incredible and really nails that take five tone. I'm sad that I heard he left Zildjian I hope he is doing well on his own and I would definitely check out anything he is involved in. • @Assimilator702
      @Assimilator702 5 років тому

      Jesse Orosz Yes and with a bigger savage bell. Maybe leave it raw and possibly even extend it out on the bow like a K Custom Hybrid. Nice defined ping with a bit of controlled wash with savage bell sound when you lay into it with light crash capability. Something with the best attributes of the A Rock Ride and K Heavy Ride in larger sizes.

    10k for a new bell design is no problem for zildjian espically for what their cymbals cost hell i play OVER 2000 dollars worth of zildjians myself k's and a customs

    • @isihernandez9752
      @isihernandez9752 3 роки тому

      The issue ain't to spend 10k to produce and sell a new bell/cymbal design, the issue is to spend them just to try it and see what happens, if it works as expected or not.
      They are a succesful company and they can afford to do some experimentation (they can't afford not to do it, I'd say), but there's no need to go crazy and spend a hugh amount of money just because. If they tried a dozen different bells, it would be 120k, and maybe they could stay with just 1 or 2 of them. It makes no sense for a company, especially when they already already have a bunch of tested designs that work great. So I guess it's pretty logic they consider carefully and wisely before deciding wich designs are worth to be given a try, even if they have the economic capacity to do it, isn't it?

    You pronounced Kerope wrong, and the Zildjians were developed by Armenians not Turks. The original factory was in Turkey, but not made by The Turks. So many people think these are made by Turks. Not true. The zildjians are Armenians.

    • @itsfaiz2967
      @itsfaiz2967 2 місяці тому +1

      Zildjians are Armenians yes. But most of the master cymbal makers are turks and current handmade cymbal are Turkish brand. So that's where the misconception comes from

    • @chuckc7375
