    Hello Doug! Great vlog, thank you!
    Hey, you said in your TT hand that the villain's range is AA-QQ, and AKs, only. But you also described him as competent.
    How can someone whose 3-bet range is that tight be competent?

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  21 день тому +1

      It was his 4 bet range, his 3 bet range is much wider.

  • @guillermoalvarez9400
    @guillermoalvarez9400 22 дні тому +3

    The reason that 5 bets are rarely ever anything less than AA in 1/3 is because players don’t 3 bet bluff, much less 4 bet enough with less then premium hands, and they didn’t go to the casino to fold good hands. The average 1/3 player is a recreational who is never folding QQ cause it’s the only good hand they’ve seen in hours, so it becomes a punt to bluff them with a worse hand.

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  21 день тому

      I totally agree, rec players would never find a fold in that spot. I was fortunate that my opponent is a thinking player that feels a 5 bet jam is AA or KK. He tipped the strength of his hand with some nervous behavior. Otherwise I was leaning towards a fold.

    The other day someone made it $10 in a 1-3 and I made it $30 with KK and they clicked it back to $60 and I five bet shoved for $600 and they snapped with QQ. Admittedly I had an aggressive image so could have had AK…. But I never would have had JJ.

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  21 день тому

      I would say everything is player dependent. I give active aggressive players much more action than regs. He probably felt you were out of line, but most rec players never fold QQ.

    Even at the Wynn$1/3 can get a little Big But 5 Bets even in $2/5 Unless it's a Deep $2/5 is Almost Always Kk or AA.

    Just an observation,and also a question. It seems like people don’t get that additional value on their hands once the pots get around half of their stacks,( money behind).
    When someone bets the river for,say 50% pot that has $500-$600 in it,that addition $250-$300 is equivalent to several hands that you win with a c-bet,and take the pot down on the flop. In this example,couldn’t that one hand be the difference between winning the night and loosing the night?
    I think this happens quite often in everyone’s game but they don’t notice the lost value.
    Especially happens with an A-K against a week A-X,and the flop has an A.

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  21 день тому +1

      I agree, I lost value on that hand. That mistake does make the difference between winning and losing. I am working on identifying areas where I could get more value and thin value. Will be one of my New Year’s resolution next year.

    Winning the small pots is key, they add up overtime.

  • @smcg1938
    @smcg1938 22 дні тому +1

    The QJ hand imo was fine how you played it. What if you hit a none spade on the end?
    I think the likely hood that player had a pocket pair or TT like you concluded. He probably had 99 with a single spade. Or 66 with a spade either way by the river he had you beat. But if the river was a none spade I think you are winning there 70 percent of the time with your hand.
    You even gave the impression you felt something about how he played the hand.

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  21 день тому

      Not this villain, A3 and AJ were the main worries. AJ would flat at some frequency and therefore A3 was most likely to be played fast. He would also be likely to attack my small cbet on the flop with all sorts of hands.

    The AI voice is totally unemotional and devoid of personality. Didn’t like the narrative at all. Not sure shorts are your best bet. The session and observations about other players and ones you want to play against add interest missing in shorts. I never miss your vlog, but likely won’t go out of my way to see your short vlogs. Is there some reason you want to do shorts?

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
