This captures the feeling of the L.A. scene when young people from all over the country were coming to California to be a part of the "awakening" from the old ways of the 1950s. Look for the UA-cam video of them singing it on Ed Sullivan - at the peak of the their short 2-year run. If you haven't seen it already, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the 2-part docuseries from 2020 called "Laurel Canyon". It does a great job of capturing the amazing music scene in the 1960s and 1970s in Laurel Canyon, where all the famous musicians lived.

@@EternalCassI didn’t know any of the band members, but your response made me want to look them up. Unfortunately I have to agree with the person who you’re arguing with. Being a plus size is a huge flaw. I used to be a plus size myself, but unlike a majority of the overweight people who are extremely lazy and can’t control over what they eat not to mention that they are also extremely arrogant and think that they don’t need to change, I went on a strict diet, I worked my a** off at the gym and went to 110 from 145 in only two months. That was 7 years ago, and I am still between 110-112 lb. I never want to go back to where I was again. So I just feel free to make fun of the obese people bc I’ve been there myself, and I am a living proof that you can always change if you really want to do that!! I make fun of the fact that the fat people are extremely arrogant and proud of themselves as well bc if you try to stop them from eating too much or anything that’s bad for them or encourage them to exercise, then they will just snap at you and will tell you off and will ask you to mind your own business bc they just love to eat whatever they want, and nobody has the right to tell them what to do, and they don’t want to become a model, and they like the way they are, and etc. So obesity is not a disease. It’s not something that you can’t get rid of. It’s all about your arrogance and being extremely proud of the way you are. In fact I’ve not met an obese person who’s kind and sweet and humble yet. . Most of them are extremely aggressive and bitchy!!! 😂😂😂😂

An almost exact doppelganger, could have passed for Michelle's twin, kept in stasis for 20 years. We've been together 36 very happy years.

I was born 45 years after Cass passed and 40 years after the end of the sixties but I love Cass and the sixties so much! Michelle, Sharon Tate, Cass Elliot, The Fashion, the movies, the music, the politics! Everything is fascinating to me
I remember this song released nearly sixty years ago, and that despite the passage of time is not outdated, by any means, and still worth to listen. I only regret of the original group, only Michelle remains, the rest have died. But it has been a long time really, I was still studying in the University when the song was released, and now I am retired. Good memories of youth is what this song brings to me.
John Phillips was an extremely talented song writer and musician. Michelle Phillips was a young, beautiful singer in the band. This was one of the most perfect bands that were a symbol of the 60s. I wish we could go back in time when it comes to music.
He was very talented however he was not always a good person and Michelle is absolutely gorgeous and so was Cass! I truly believe they were both equally stunning. If only we could go back in time…

I’ll never forget a Phil Donahue interview featuring her, him saying “ I don’t want to sound like a patronizing male, but you are one beautiful woman”. Still stuck in my mind decades later!
I was 16 and in 11th grade when this song was released. Michelle symbolized the ideal California chick that so many boys my age aspired to meet and get on with. She was beautiful and talented and her kind was out of reach for so many of us. All we could do was look, listen and dream.
Michelle Phillips: Love at first sight. It was impossible for a bad picture to be taken of her. Always beautiful, in any setting, in any light, from any angle.
@Klemheist Don’t call her the big that is rude, her name is Cass Elliot and she was arrested for taking towels from a hotel and an unpaid which wasn’t her fault. Also Michelle Phillips has also been arrested and fined before for driving a moped without a number plate or helmet
I live in a smallish town in California and love it. The crime rate is less than a third of the US national average (no murders last year). It’s about a 40 minute drive to the ocean, 2 hours to snow ski, lots of hiking and biking trails. Several people I know retired to Arizona because they can sell their home here and buy a bigger newer home for cash. But many would move back here if they could, sweltering heat interrupted by dust storms and cold winds in the winter. On top of that they get massive utility bills from running the A/C 24/7 thru the long summer. There are parts of L.A. and San Francisco that are dangerous and filthy, like every major city in the U.S. but we never go to either place. Most people making stupid comments about California have never been here.

If you haven't seen it already, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the 2-part docuseries from 2020 called "Laurel Canyon". It does a great job of capturing the amazing music scene in the 1960s and 1970s in Laurel Canyon, where all the famous musicians lived.
Wow that is incredible! Cass is my number 1. I love everything about the mamas and the papas and I spend hours researching them daily and listening to them as I just love them so much! I love Twelve Thirty, it might just be my favourite mamas and papas song! I also watched the Laurel Canyon documentary twice actually because I wanted to make sure I had all the information! I just love it all so much, it was the best era, and that’s coming from someone born in 2009
@@EternalCass It makes me feel so good that a person of your age can love this music. I appreciate you!
@@thisisreallife5086 Thank you very much, I take that as a massive compliment!
Michelle signed my picture of her in 1966. I was 13. She was so pretty and friendly too. She's the only one left.
Wow that’s so cool, you are very lucky
how did it make you feel?
was she kind ?
My favourite song and the most beautiful woman of that era. Simply stunning.
This. 👆
What a band ..Mama Cas .....Up there with the best voices of all time ..RIP CAS ELLIOT ,,Michele Phillips is an AMERICAN icon ....From Wales UK ..
Cass in my opinion has the greatest voice of all time and I love her very much, my page is dedicated mainly to her. Rest in peace Cass Elliot! And yes Michelle is an icon… I’m from England
@Elizadelrey_ Well said ..Can't really argue with that assessment....You have very good taste ..
@@kelvinlewis4065 Thank you very much, you do too
Perfection! They don't make music groups like this anymore.
They certainly do not! They will forever be my favourite band and Cass will forever be my favourite singer ❤️
Yea they do, you have to “seek them out” though. Live music venues are where it’s at.
Oh see, that was the last wave on the beach!!!
Sounds like you need a little Larkin Poe, or Molly Tuttle, or Madison Cunningham
I can never understand why old farts seem to feel the need to make that comment. You see it all over UA-cam whenever a song from the past is posted. Enjoy what you enjoy but is it necessary to criticise the current generation? I love this song but I also love songs of today too. Try listening to some. It may open your eyes. And ears. 😉
Real music and a great era. Real talent great people.. great great times.☮️

Magnifique. Montage très réussi. Beautiful pictures, videos. Michelle est très belle, très dynamique. C'est un régal de la voir ainsi. Bravo à vous et merci pour ce bonheur.
Teenager from the late 60's here.
One of the greatest Pop songs ever written. Up there with the best of the best Beatles/Beach Boys/Righteous Brothers /Motown etc.
Also Michelle was one of my early crushes. Stunning beauty !
I really is! In my opinion they are the greatest band of all time which I know a lot of people wouldn’t agree with but I think they are! I also think Cass Elliot was the greatest singer of all time
@@EternalCass I remember music before the Beatles . From when I first heard them in Spring (1963) they became and still are my favourite band of all time.
But I love The Mamas and Papas .
Tracks I would rate as at least equal to this great song are :
"and i love her " ,The Beatles
"God only knows " The Beach Boys
"you've lost that loving feeling " The Righteous Brothers.
@@EternalCass Re Singers . Cass was great . But Janis Joplin, Joan Baez, Dusty Springfield and Eva Cassidy are also wonderful.
But my own personal favourite is Lisa Gerrald of Dead Can Dance.
@@keithbate9405 I love all of them very much as well and think they are all extremely talented! However personally I think Cass has the best voice but not everyone has to or will agree with me 😊
@@EternalCass Your view is valid as the appreciation of all music is purely subjective !
Love this!! Michelle was the beauty of this band!! I am aware she's the only one from the band who is still alive today!!
I don’t agree with that! Michelle is gorgeous but Cass is absolutely stunning too, if anything more beautiful then Michelle
@@markhill9275 How dare you comment something like that! She was absolutely gorgeous and plus sized does not mean ugly!
@@EternalCass Michelle was the beauty, Cass was the voice, John was the artist, Denny was the.........I'm not sure what Denny was.
@@oig40203 Denny and Cass both had incredible voices, John could write, and Cass and Michelle were both equally stunning
the most beautiful woman on earth !
change my mind
She is talent and one of the most beautiful hippie-girls of all time! ❤❤❤
She doesn't look dirty or hairy or act like an animal so i wouldn't call her a hippie
Nah, she good in bed with John as well as Denny. Cass was a better singer.

I’m pretty sure it was almost 3 years actually! They are incredible
This song is memorialized in many war vids also; what a crazy good tune for every generation.
I'm a little shocked to know that --- always assumed they were together for 10 years or so
@@fredwerza3478 They got together in 1965 and broke up in 1968 I believe, Cass started her successful solo career and then they got back together to do an album in 1971 because they were contracted to and then Cass passed away in 1974 😢

A very nice montage of my princess Michelle, thank you. I was but a child, the first time I saw and heard Michelle Phillips, while performing this song. I fell instantly in love, Although I was more her daughter, Mackenzie's age. She set the standard for me for who I would only seek for a wife, no other would do.I found her while I was still somewhat young. An almost exact doppelganger, could have passed for Michelle's twin, kept in stasis for 20 years. We've been together 36 very happy years.
So beautiful, an icon of the 70s !
Beautiful woman, amazing song
I was born in 1987 but I've always been fascinated by how culture, music, and politics (Vietnam) in the late 1960s (and early 1970s) were inseparable from one another. Love Phillips and Cass.
I was born 45 years after Cass passed and 40 years after the end of the sixties but I love Cass and the sixties so much! Michelle, Sharon Tate, Cass Elliot, The Fashion, the movies, the music, the politics! Everything is fascinating to me

Michelle was so perfect, she was definitely Helen of Troy .
Great job Eliza, such a perfect song, great harmony's and I especially like both female voices in this!!
Thank you very much!!
Well done. That’s the most footage of Michelle I’ve ever seen from those days.

She was awesome, Iconic 60's music, She is still alive and living the California dream.
If only we could go back in time…
I still remember the first time I heard this song. I was blown away!

Such a hauntingly beautiful woman. Every picture showed a different angle to her psyche - makes one wonder, "what is she thinking at that particular moment?" A true child of the 60s and all that chaos and turbulence, but also deep thoughtfulness.

80 years and looking back??? Those were the days my friend. I remember California Dreamin as though it was yesterday. I dont think I was a teen back then and now Im 68 years. It was a great age for music back then clear lyrics and pleasant melodies to listen to. Now its soulless crap.
There's just one girl singer in the 21st century is head and shoulders above the rest and that's Lucy Thomas and her younger sister Martha. Love them both to bits. Make my days brighter and full of joy. These girls are easy on the eye as well as a joy to listen to.
Восхищаюсь исполнителями песни. Клип превосходен, песня мелодичная❤❤❤
This woman was ahead of her time …awesome
No she was not ahead of her time. The reason we admite her is because she was an icon of that time. Not ahead, not behind. She is the 60s.

I was 16 and in 11th grade when this song was released. Michelle symbolized the ideal California chick that so many boys my age aspired to meet and get on with. She was beautiful and talented and her kind was out of reach for so many of us. All we could do was look, listen and dream.
The sixties for eternity. Merci!
Michelle Phillips: Love at first sight. It was impossible for a bad picture to be taken of her.
Always beautiful, in any setting, in any light, from any angle.
Michelle and Cass Elliot Are the two most beautiful women!!
@Klemheist Don’t call her the big that is rude, her name is Cass Elliot and she was arrested for taking towels from a hotel and an unpaid which wasn’t her fault. Also Michelle Phillips has also been arrested and fined before for driving a moped without a number plate or helmet
Great song and a beautiful young woman!
She's before my time, but wow, one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. Love at first site for sure :)
True. Arizona is a false illusion. There will be lots of disappointment there by the fools who flocked in during the past ten years.
One of the most beautiful female vocalists of the 1960's.
She was absolutely stunning
