If anyone did this before priming the filter, and has air in the system, the fix is to unscrew the black bumpy screw, hold ur finger under to block the hole under (the screw) otherwise when u fill it with diesel it leaks out, fill it up, i used a syringe from the pharmacy, got it for free there, had a buddy fill it with the syringe while i held the hole on bottom. when filled up to the brim, i put the black screw back in, (u need to get it in just right so it hits the part where it needs to plug the hole ur covering on the bottom) then its primed. If u started the engine when it was empty, like i did, u just turn the ignition after priming, crank it a few times, if it turns on turn it off. Then loosen the injector screws, one by one, and have a buddy crank the car inbetween until u see diesel leaking out, then tighten and go to next one. That’s how you can bleed the air out, it will run kinda bad at the start after bleeding the air out. i just let it idle a bit, then took an hour dive and its all fixed. Pressure is back to normal and car starts and runs smoothly.
@@DaddyAddy833 you need to bleed the system is easy to do but you will need a pump wit a no return valve and some clear hose pipe that fits on the diesel return hose . a full charged battery
!!!!!! MOST VOLVO WONT START IF YOU DONT ADD DIESEL IN FILTER + IF IT STILL DOESNT RUN THEN TAKE BRAKE CLEANER/ STARTER GAS AND SPRAY IT IN THE HOSE WHERE IT CONNECTS TO ENGINE WHILE STARTING THE CAR, DO IT FEW TIMES TILL IT RUNS NORMALLY !!!!! TOOK ME LONG ENOUGH TO FIGURE THIS OUT
To anyone watching this. On this model, if you don't prime the filter after, you've got no chance of it working. The video is almost correct, but no way would that fire up without being primed. I've done a fair few of these.
ATTENTION!! After this video your car will not start. Take off the sensor of the new fuel filter and fil it up slowly until full. Next disconnect the green connector on the other side of the engine bay and suck 2 liters of diesel out using a handpump. You should see clean diesel comming trough without bubbles. After this the car will start. If it not strart or stall shortly after start. Pull again some diesel from the green connecter
Thank you for this comment. Following the instructions here my vehicle ran for ~10 seconds before it stalled. I didnt have any fuel and put the original, still filled filter back on place. No luck either. I went to the gas station and got some fuel and then filled and reinstalled the new filter. No luck. I took a small funnel and placed rags beneath the hoses and filled them too with diesel. The motor finally turned over after about 5 seconds of ignition. No fun, glad the battery didnt die.
You forgot to add the part of filling the filter with diesel. Please stop replying "we will definetly take this into account thank you for sharing experience" bullshit, and delete/replace this video with one that shows that process as well
Volvo v50´s is one of the hardest to replace the dieselfilters on. You need to be very careful, even if you fill the filters up, the car may start at first, but they WILL stop! Then will be hard to start again. You´ll need a battery jumpstarter, and loads of patience. This car in this video will probably die right after the video ends. The worst of the v50´s filter is the ones that has the filter location in right front. That filtercase can crack without you notice that. You´ll need to unplug the connector at the high pressure pump and suck diesel to the pump, or else you´ll end up with a no start. Then you have the ones with the rubber seal and the long plug. 3 torx screws on top. Ford uses the same ones. (The v50 is a ford focus) You´ll need to fill it up, be very precise and be very clean.
@@mikelow4374 Yes, I’m pretty sure they had issues. An electric pump in the tank would have solved som problems here. Just a micro leak and this engines will die.
