Thanks for watching. I’ll see you in the next video.

Tennessee Vols is called the volunteers because Tennessee is a state of civil war and when the civil war was going on they volunteered people to come to the civil war kind of like Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone and I think you should do an episode on it.
Yep!!!
Always wondered that myself and I’m only a little over a hour away in Ga.
👍🏼
War of 1812!!!!!!!!! Not civil war
So proud to be from Tennessee. It's not perfect but it's as close to perfect as I think a place could be. Well except for Memphis but they need to annex them out anyway. 😅 lol.
@@christicovingtonI was born and raised in Tennessee. Gods country.
She was the best conservative woman playing a liberal you could ever run across
It’s called The Volunteers State because they had more men volunteer for The War of 1812 than any other state!
Oh wow.
Designing women was funny. Dixie was a beautiful classy Lady. I named my daughter Dixie. Her middle name.
well thats just sick bruh wtf you thinking naming any kid after dixie doodoo the hoho
What a great name to give your daughter!
@@chrissieroxba2949 thank you
@@chrishepp4429 I don’t get it
@@ARTWV just another UA-cam 🤡! Pay no attention!
Im 48 next month, but i remember the show it was on Wednesday at in the afternoon. It started in 1986 on CBS. Thanks for sharing her final reasting place of Dixie Carter. Thanks Lamont.
Im 43 I remember it use to come around 8:00 pm where I live at😊
Those were reruns
Meshach Taylor also played Hollywood in the movie Mannequin!
One of the lines I remember from Designing Women was when one of the characters, I think it might have been Delta Burke, referred to the French university, the Sorbonne, in a lovely thick southern accent, as the Sore Buns. They had funny dialogue to entertain all ages on that show, even kids, by including silly butt jokes. lol
Great actress and a classy lady
Oh I definitely remember The Edge of Night. It was a soap opera that I remember from my childhood. Loved Designing Women. Thank so much for doing this video
Yes I did he played on the show as well a Great actor
Simon n Simon was a fun show. Grandma watched it so I watched too😊
The Edge of Night! My moms favorite soap opera for years!
Delta Burke's husband is Gerald McRainy from Simon and Simon.
I've never seen this programme, but I did hear of it.. Rest in peace to all that past. ❤❤
Delta Burke is married to Major Dad Gerald McRaney
Dixie was soooo lovely and beautiful 🙌🏾💕💪🏾
Delta knew her stuff; rest in peace 😢
Edge of night was a tv 📺 soap. Great memories. I’m 65 years old. Rip greatness Amen 🙏. 🇵🇷🇺🇸🙏. Her husband pass away last year? 2023.
Thanks for the video and story
the edge of night was a popular soap opera
I think I wanna go watch Designing Women now ❤
Simon and Simon lol I liked the theme song but that’s it, is Lee majors still alive, he tried to make Farrah faucet into a housewife
I love that show 🤩
I first saw her on an old soap opera, The Edge of Night about 50 years ago. Loved her on "Designing Women."
Dixie Carter was on different strokes
The edge of night was a soap opera
Kind of like the movie The Alamo when they had a bunch of Tennessee volunteers go there
The Edge of Night was a soap show
Great video. I used to watch this show😊❤
Hello from Ohio
I only watched designing women when there was nothing else on, and that effeminate guy on the show was on celebrity ghost stories and his story scared the crap out of me
Thanks for the blast from my childhood! And a trip down memory lane during the 80’s!
Memphis sucks. Be careful.
My daughter is named Dixie after her
You should do one about the black guy too. He played in a really good movie called mannequin and it came out in the late 80's
Loved that show. They were funny, smart, and no none sense! 😊 Delta's husband was on This is Us as the doctor and Longmire, I think he's a good actor. She was great too but she needs to take care of herself first. I wonder if she'll make a comeback. Annie Potts has been acting for so long from Pretty in Pink to The new Ghostbusters movie and Young Sheldon! Not sure about the blonde actress Jean Smart.
Hey Lamont the Edge of night was a soap opera from the late 70
Hey lamont, I watched that show when I was young
Please don't disrespect Meshach Taylor like that, by saying and there was that black guy and you thinking he was gay,his name was Anthony
😊😊😊😊 😊
Dixie Carter was so beautiful
I believe the edge of night was a soap opera.
RIP to Dixie Carter and Meshach Taylor who played Anthony Bouvier on Designing Women
She was such a spit fire. I loved that. Thank you for remembering her. 🕊️❤️🙏
Edge of night was a soap opera when I was a little girl,my mom watched it,there was another one called Secret Storm, this was like in the 1960's
I remember both of those!
Oh my gosh my mom also watched Edge of Night, haven’t heard that in years and years!
I loved Edge of Night!!
I remember watching The Edge of Night. It was a little different from other soaps in that the story lines involved mysteries and crimes. I remember the opening seeming a little spooky to me as a kid
Mike Carr and Adam Drake
Thank you so much for visiting Dixie grave!! I absolutely loved her!!! And her husband too. ❤️❤️❤️
You're close to me, Lamont! My dad's family are from Huntingdon, Tn, and my grandmother went to school with Dixie. My aunt's sister lived next door to her and Hal Holbrook, in McLemoresville. There is a small entertainment center there in Huntingdon, named after her, called "The Dixie." Glad to see you're visiting us! Bless your ❤!
My friend lives there (Huntingdon) and my family live in Camden and Paris ❤

Dixie Carter was classically beautiful. Dark hair, dark eyes, and a smile that graced every project in which she was featured. She exuded class and sophistication, yet possessed a down to earth aspect that made her relatable to all. A kind of woman that is not made anymore.
Rip Dixie Carter 😢😢😢😢😢😢💐💐💐💐💐💐💐❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Loved Designing Women!
I just remember they all wore shoulder pads in there dresses !!
Shoulder pads were a big part of the 80's
I hated shoulder pads, lol
Shoulder pads were in jackets and dresses mostly. I used to cut them out.
@@Lakirk2023 I remember them even in t shirts, I cut them out too,
I wore my shoulder pads proudly! 😂
There called the Volunteers because Tennessee had more men than any other to volunteer 1st to fight in the Civil War.
War of 1812!!
Yep , war of 1812 , battle of new Orleans..@@americanschweitzer45
Designing Women was a great show. All beautiful women.
Looks like her father passed just 3 years before she did , and her husband being older than her lived till he was 95
80s & 90s tv was so good
❤fromTx
I loved Meshach Taylor as Anthony. He had me cracking up. He was my fave along with the old woman at the beginning on the clip you showed.
He was my favorite too! He and Bernice could really have ya rolling in laughter.
Him and Suzanne always had me cracking up 😂
Did he played in mannequin as Hollywood?
@@morrie79 yep 👍
I remember The Edge Of Night. One of the most popular soap operas back in the day.
I remember it too..lol
Yes I remember it but we didn’t watch it
Then it become Another World.
Designing women was a favorite of mine
She was a beautiful woman RIP DIXIE CARTER 🙏🕊️
Loved that show. I always remember the season Ray Charles did the theme song, it was so classy.
Lamont I was born in 1976 I think I’m a couple years older than you we were the last generation that drank out of a water hose and stayed outside during summers for 8 plus hours not glued to a phone or gaming system! Your content is top shelf stuff!
I still drink out of a garden hose, but then I'm 10 years older than you. Nothing like an icy cold drink from the hose after the water has run a while.
Those 80s sitcoms delivered moral and ethic truths in clear, unadulterated terms. They were written and portrayed in ways that were meant to be understood by all viewers.
I was just watching Julia Sugarbaker highlights yesterday. Thanks Lamont!
Her husband, Hal Holbrook, was pretty good, himself.
Delta was fired because she gained too much weight. She was a very big deal. They labeled her as difficult because she wouldn’t loose the weight
It’s not because she wouldn’t lose the weight. It’s because she couldn’t lose the weight and they were giving her a hard time because of it and though she tried all different kinds of diets and stuff they gave her a hard time and she finally for herself and that’s when they started labeling her because she started fighting for herself in her rights. I started watching some of the things that she would do some of the interviews and stuff that she would do. It took her a long time to lose the weight. And she has refused to do any TV or movie shows after that.
Beautiful ladies Rest in perfect peace 💐
The actress in purple on sofa plays grandmother in Young Sheldon
Annie Potts!
RIP 🪦 🕊️
Different strokes went down hill when she was on the show, The red headed kid that played her son was cute, they needed another kid on the show because Gary Coleman wanted to start acting more his age
You're right. I remember his name was Sam, and it got corny after that. But I still watched the show.
@@beotheguitarist me too I still watched until it ended, I didn’t like the new wife though
Loved Designing women. Thanks for the video.
Nobody sang how great thou art like Dixie Carter did. Beautiful woman. No one like her.
I watch the Edge of night one of my grandmothers favorite soap operas. She played on different strokes as Philip Drummondswife, then she left and was replaced. Bye, Maria Mobley.
As soon as you started the dead on rendition of Simon and Simons’ theme song, I knew instantly the show you were thinking of..
@tommymiller8743,
I can't stand Simon and Simon. That show never clicked with me.
Fun fact, Gerald McRaney meant Delta Burke when he was hired to play one of " Suzannes" ex-husbands on the show. The rest is history!
Gerald McRaney is an excellent actor and I’ve watched him in
Major Dad, Promised Land ( a spin off of Touched By An Angel), And This Is Us
He was the doctor on this is us who delivered all 3 of the babies at the beginning of the show and he was in other episodes too
Yep! ❤
In her time Delta Burke was hot.
Thank you so much for this video! Make sure you check out the Designing Women & Suzanne's house next time you're in Little Rock:)
Delta Burke is married to Gerald McRaney
I did not know this! Simon and Simon?
I love that clip you choose! It's So important to keep reminding people that.
Tennessee is called the volunteer state.
Hello 👋 from Oahu, Hawaii!!!
Diff’Rent strokes ended before Designing Women.
I have always adored Delta Burke. She was so talented and beautiful, at any weight.
Meshach Taylor was also on the pilot episode of the golden girls. He played a police officer that came to the door to tell Blanche that her fiance was a bigamist. 😊
You him one of the Simons. To me, he's Major Dad.
Rest in Peace Dixie Carter she's a classy and beautiful lady
I miss this tv show I honestly miss her dearly ❤ I remember some of them not all of them. I was still in school when she passed away unfortunately thank you for doing this story
The edge of Night was soap opera show.
You’re correct. I was a kid when it ran on television.
Yup, the shows in the 70,s and 80,s were great! Time goes too fast!❤
Glad you made it to West Tennessee. I met Ms. Carter a couple of times. Her grave is not far from my house.
Never missed an episode! Then watched reruns!!!! Loved the show! My son said I was "Julia"! Took that as a compliment. Always stand up for what's right......thanks, Lamont.....
I loved designing women, Anthony and Suzanne were the best characters on the show, absolutely hilarious. Delta is married to Gerald McRaney.
Omg I love Dixie!!! She was so feisty!! "The night the lights went out in Georgia" episode where she goes on a rant taking up for Suzanne with a beauty queen is my all time favorite rant of "Julia Sugarbaker"
@eleciatatum678,
OMG, I remember that episode. It's probably one of the most famous ones ever on that show. That scene of her telling off that blonde woman was so funny, she was even in her face, lol. Julia was not someone who tolerated drama from anyone else.
Fly high 💖Beautiful women not full of plastic and silicone like today 🇦🇺
That's Carl from Ghost at the beginning (Tony Goldwyn).
I remember Dixie Carter (Julia Sugarbaker) being called the Terminator by the other ladies on Designing Women!! I still watch the reruns of the show on Antenna Tv!!
RIP Dixie Carter.
♥️🙏🏼🌹😇✝️
One of my favorite shows!! I loved the Sugarbaker sisters!! ❤❤ rip Dixie and Hal!
I'm in Tennessee!!! We are the volunteer's because of Daniel Boone going to the Alamo.
Edge of night was an old daytime soap opera! Thank you for a memorable video Dixie Carter was talented and beautiful!
Hal Holbrook played Mark Twain longer than Samuel Clemons did.
My mother used to watch designing women all the time we even watched it together
Hey... that's Tony Goldwyn..(Fitz)!!!!!
Hi Lamont, The Edge of Night is a soap opera. Great Story about Dixie Carter. Thank you for sharing.
Designing woman use to come on everyday at work for years!!!! I loved it bc i knew when it went off it was time to clock out and leave
I remember that show Designing Women from the middle 1980s which I only saw the previews on TV, but I never watched any of the shows back then!
