Hey buddy, your videos are the best from the web. I noticed you included a time stamp, and full details of their contents! That tales a lot of time and effort. May God always bless you. You are doing so much good to this society!
Glad you like them! Yeah just easier to find certain portions of the video IF you are coming back and re-watching it again :) Keep leaving comments :) I will always reply!!
Hi Michael :) I am really glad it did and because as you said there are many versions out there because it is really hard to explain on "camera" how to do it. How was your progression been with it? Can you control / use how you want it during a match?
Good luck to you David and be in touch if you need any extra help :) Are you watching the world championship next week? I’m doing a live watch along throughout the week on my channel.
Such a great explanation of the pendulum serve. No detail is left unexplained. I was always reluctant to use this serve as I could never get my grip back fast enough to deal with the return.
Glad it was helpful! I was worried I spoke too long / too much, but I just can’t shake off my style of coaching. In person it doesn’t sound so complicated or long 😅😄
So happy to hear you enjoyed it. Yes I do my best to follow all comments of suggestions :) Yeah if you have just the basic idea in your head. Doing it on queue will be easier
great video, thanks. i like the part where you mentioned especially why you stand at the corner location with your left leg for ease of moving closer to the table after serving.. finally i know the reason why lots of players are doing that... cheers.
Really good video. I am still waiting for tutorials where "spinballs" are in use. I create lots of spin already but don't know how much is possible. It could be helpful for "us" to compare. But thanks for these very good advices.
Very good demonstration. However, I personally prefer to use two fingers instead of three to support the racket (using the thumb and index as a clamp right above the handle and at the base of the rubber on both sides), and I do it for two reasons. First, it allows more angles on the ball for more variances in the serve. You will also have a far better opportunity to strike the ball on either side of the racket. Second, it's slightly easier and faster getting your grip back after your serve. The only drawback is that you may have less control when you first begin to try it due to the index not being on the back-middle rubber for support. But the lack of control dwindles with time. Again, great video and introduction to the pendulum serve.
Yeah totally see and agree on your view. Two fingers for sure give more flexibility of wrist which then makes better choices for spin. I have found it that the average player struggles to manage it with two fingers so I insist to start with three until they get the hand of it.
I have been practicing this every game I find i am hitting the ball to hard most of the time and off the table but damn when I get it right it rarely comes back I watch this video every day Cheers from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
Hey David :) I'm happy to hear your progress, but yeah hardest thing in this sport is the correct contact. Much thanks for your support!! I have to visit Sydney for a camp in your club some day :)
Oh, my gassss! Finally, Simeone explained the pendulum serve as clearly as MUD!!! (LOL). I rally appreciate! Please, use subtitles. You hace a strong accent and English is not my 1st language. Where r u from? Greetings from Ecuador!
Haha I thought I said too much, but yeah a lot of things are important in this serve! Subtitles is for sure something I will look into it once I reach a certain milestone in subscribers. It can be quite tedious to set up, but if views are picking up I will make it happen :)
Nice video and explanation brother, especially shakehand grip recovery. However most struggle with foot movements to get to recovery position after hand movement, that's the most difficult part of pendulum serve. Thanks 😊
nice tutorial thanks man, what i wonder is the aim where to play it thou ? when i play it naturally i tend to play it cross table like u do in the video most of the time too but the spin shoots the ball to the other side when it hits the opponents bat which should be kinda bad since it wont go off the table so easy then right? like if he just push he will most likely still hit the table right? so i wonder if it wouldnt be better to do this straight to the left of the table so it goes off easy ? (prob short so it cant be top-spinned too easy)
Yeah that’s a fair comment and on theory it would work, but in real life unfortunately it doesn’t do to the fact that most people are right handed. Meaning their forehand technique is “spinning” the same way as the serve is. So even a mediocre follow through technique would return it. It is highly not advised to do this spin short to a players FH short position. Because a simple smack would get the ball returned. More complex to say is that the racket of the player is on the same side as the spin is connected which means that it is easy returnable with the slightest correct movement. The only way it can be “smart” to serve left / down the line is if you see the opponent far away at the opposite corner so maybe you can catch them out :) Hope that helps!
Thanks for your comment!! I am actually thinking of doing a live stream at a table so the community of this channel can talk / ask any tt questions :) Would you be up for that?
I am actually using the Stiga Royal 4 star racket. So it's a build full racket with factory rubbers. They are a good quality and perfect to use to learn and grow table tennis technique. The smoother and better quality technique the more the rubber works for you.
Dude, I have a concern about the type of racket I should use. I am a beginner player (with a couple of Yeats of experience, though). I have estar racket and I am planning on buying a 5-star Stiga racket ($110 USD by the way. Would IT be a good investment? Would a 4 or 3-star be enough? Is 5 star bolt for pro competitions???
Yeah God no do not get a 5 star racket. If you have a coach or someone you train then a 3 star would be perfect. I sell them out all the time because they are perfect for the beginner level to learn and develop. 5 star racket would ONLY be possible if you have a coach that you train 2 times a week min. Then you could learn and develop in a nice correct manner. Without a coach you would gain so many bad habits as you're just trying to control the ball.
Hi Kurt :) I actually use a build racket set up from Stiga Royal series. It is a 4 star racket. My real racket, well I do not remember ha It hasn't been used due to Covid -19 :/
I only use rackets for coaching reasons. The 5 star royal with carbon blade by STIGA is a good strong round racket of speed and spin :) www.ebay.ie/itm/353321748465?hash=item52439e07f1:g:0PIAAOSwuihf2pU1
You are showing the wrong edge for more spin, it should be the edge closer to the table! It is very confusing to the viewers! Can you explain the logic behind it?
Yeah I should of been more specific on that matter :) If you hit the ball edge CLOSER to table then you will create as much spin as possible with momentum that could be anywhere on the table. Now if you hit the ball on edge AWAY from the table then you create "more" spin than you do momentum (Spin > Momentum). Which helps you to keep it low and short in height because of that. There is not much momentum created which helps to use against players who are aggressive to make them defend it and HELPS you to create a 3rd ball attack on it. It is important to know the difference between both and use them when needed to change things up. Especially when its a close game and you can do a very tactical move :) Hope that helps!!
Yeah if you clip it and brush it just right at the far side of your rubber variation of spin. The ball will be slower in speed (if only used wrist action) but it’s easier to go to a person backhand / go off the table on that side. I should of also mentioned in the video it’s perfect against Left hand players as the ball spins away from them if placed on their Forehand position It’s a great variation where spin is more on the ball than speed. And to return that “better” than your standard spin serve is more skill required. So your opponent won’t see the that and give the same exact technique to return, but it won’t work. The ball will pop up in the air for you to attack or they will just hit it off the side of the table of lack of control of your spin :) It’s best used when you want to throw off your opponent and give them something different to deal with. A close game of 7-7 score is a good timing.
I know and agree, but at that time the echo and roadworks from outside the building made the video really difficult to shoot and talk. The future videos that I will upload soon have a mic so it should fix the issue :)
Haha 100% I’m doing a live Q&A tomorrow from 4:20pm Irish / UK time. Let me know if you have any more suggestions / questions that I can discuss / improve on :)
