I've been watching your videos since I was in the the 5th grade. Since then I always participated on regional meets. Now, I'm entering college and your videos still managed to help me improve my skills. Thank you sir
excellent...so many of us fall victim to this serve. The tip on noticing how much of the bat is open or closed is really good, especially if you don't quite see the contact, or (illegally) some of the bat is hidden by the other arms motion at contact time. Both common at the club level.
Nice video, I liked the amount of rubber you see to determine the serve. I myself, look into the racket angle at the contact point and link it with the trajectory of the ball to see if it is a side/back or side/top spin. Thanks.
I would love to see a video about physical therapy exercises to prevent injury in table tennis, to improve coordination and/or to help with range of motion in the joints.
good lesson. how can simon get to that level of shot without being able to read any type of spin? it just shows how much people can learn in a few minutes. i had a similar lesson recently and it has made me realise how important it is to be able to counter the spin of the opponents serve, and not just try and cope with it.
It's this serve variation which is so easy to hide. A pendulum serve is harder for me to read than any other serve while I haven't struggled against most others for years
Not sure how I missed this one. But great video. I'm playing in tournaments once a month and reading spin is so important. I'm getting better at it but still have a long way to go. Simon did very well.
You should also show how to return those Timo Boll style sinister pendulum serves , the ball just stops at the middle of and keeps spinning on the table
Thanks for the explanations but when I meet experienced players I can hardly see what spin is on the ball because they know how to do it with subtle movements.
Yes, it can be very tough. All you can do is try to watch the server's contact with the ball as closely as possible. Over time it does get gradually easier. But for most players it is usually the most challenging aspect of table tennis.
It is vital to move for these wide sidespin serves. I made another video recently where I helped a player with this... ua-cam.com/video/nLo5xOVdS4U/v-deo.html

its allowed to hide the racket, but not the ball.
That was a very good way to teach the return. I will definitely “borrow” your progression.
Excellent detailing in your coaching. I am sure many are getting benefited from your coaching tips.
Now I can read serves better. much thanks!!!!
One more great job done Tom!!!! Thank you so much!!!
Great lesson Tom!
My son is killing me with his pendulum serve! This was very helpful. Thank you!
What an amazing lesson
Great video, Tom - thanks. Really good views of your serve
I've been not good at receiving pendulum serve. And this video would be very helpful for my practice.
Thank you so much

Good idea. I'll add to my list.
You could be in trouble next season if he is in the same division!!! Excellent progress.

Ok How long we must be faraway of the table ping pong. To defend attack.thank you
What's difference between Flick and drive?

Thanks David. How are you getting on in your tournaments? Any decent wins?
@@TomLodziakGenerally playing opponents ranked high than me so not winning much. But does not mean I am not improving over time. So wins will come.

How long was the session?
This was a two hour session. We covered other things in that time too.
Wonderful explanation! Thanks a lot. And can you tell me which blade and rubbers do you use?
I use JOOLA Dynaryz AGR on both sides and I have a JOOLA Fever blade.
Simón a good player too

The problem is when the pendulum serve comes with sidespin or sidespin with topspin, but it comes with a very tight angle, going off the table.
It is vital to move for these wide sidespin serves. I made another video recently where I helped a player with this... ua-cam.com/video/nLo5xOVdS4U/v-deo.html
The type of spin you are putting on can actually be spotted by the height of your elbow. Also it’s better to move the foot that’s closer to the ball!
My dog name is Tom 🤣🤣
i'm very good at making them but not receiving them lol
Sir you should have also served on his forehand side. Not only on the backhand.
Fuzzclog x
