@@spiceyboogerspiceybooger6437 well kpop idols have debuted young for a long time. Boa herself at just 13. So it’s nothing new. However I notice most older kpop fans do not like a lot of groups debuting very young people however there are plenty of rookies or 2018-2020 with young adults too. Omega X, Kingdom, DKB, Cignature, Cix, E’Last, etc etc etc all have at least a few mid to late 90 liners debuting “late” well except OX and OnlyOneOf since all OX members are 20-26 years old and OnlyOneOf’s eldest member Mill was born in 1992 and they debuted in 2019

Right, that was messed up especially how she responded to the controversy. At the same point though, I see her point about people sexualizing minors and blaming them for others sexualizing what they wear or say. She did a lot of wrongs but there’s layers of wrong from the public as well.
    It’s disturbing either way
She just didnt need to lie about everything because if one is talented then the opportunities will eventually show up, but then the Korean industry hates older women, like idols 21-25 are considered old. But in the real working world that’s so young. 20s is so young, that’s when people start their careers but that’s the cut off age for female idols. The public/industry isn’t kind at all to non-pretty old women either.
It seems like she was desperate and used the most inappropriate image to gain popularity, which it did. and that is the most disturbing part
She is actually talented, only way she could come back is if she silently put her music out, without her image and let her talent speak for itself

Edit. I have been educated on the book, I genuinely had never heard about it before so thank you for letting me know! I’m gonna leave the comment so people can also learn the differences, but I now understand and it isn’t wrong to use “lolita” in this way!
Hey, love your stuff, but that ISNT Lolita style at all. I feel it’s important to distinguish between the Lolita movie and the fashion style.
The fashion style is a Japanese subculture and based largely on Victorian style dresses. It originated in the 1970s and celebrates femininity, cuteness and most importantly modesty.
What you’re referring to is what many refer to as Lolita but is based on the movie Lolita from 1962, a movie about a man marrying a woman and falling for her daughter (massively abbreviated).
It’s extremely important to distinguish. As someone who loves the Japanese subculture of Lolita, these videos cause people to say disgusting things about a subculture that isn’t related. People referring to Lolita in these contexts are usually referring to the movie and not the fashion style (either way I don’t see the comparison) or are using the words Lolita fashion in an uneducated way. I truly don’t mean to come off harsh, it just causes hate towards a community that isn’t involved and has nothing to do with looking young or provocative.

@@nikfiendluvr666 my point was that she’s using the phrase “lolita” which many then go to assume is the subculture. She doesn’t specify what she is talking about which can cause confusion and unnecessary hate as many people don’t know about the book (I didn’t either) and when looking up lolita style it comes up with the Japanese subculture.
Thank you for educating me cus I had no clue about the book and how it has influenced this style. I hope I didn’t come across rude, I’ve personally dealt with hate related to wearing the Japanese subculture lolita and know that some people will be rude without learning, so it’s a subject close to me.

@A in no way shape or form did I say that. It’s never the victims fault for assault. Provocative is just “intending to arouse sexual desire or interest” and that’s it. It has nothing to do with the disgusting reactions of people who think it’s okay to sexual assault someone. It’s mostly about causing attention, which usually isn’t the intention of the person wearing it, but gross people take notice and do horrible things.
I know I was incorrect about previous comments and I learnt about the book and how lolita style references that not the Japanese subculture, but I’m still not sure how “provocative” is saying people should be assaulted for what they wear. Please educate me if I’m wrong

i wanted to touch on the controversial issues. Lolita? which one is being talked about? Lolita is also a fashion and has nothing to do with sexual stuff. or are we talking about the book Lolita which is were the sexual view comes from. next she has a point, 16 or not no one should be sexualizing her. its your problem not hers. girls/women should be allowed to wear what they want no matter the worlds on it. maybe this is too far ahead for Korea right now. but here in the states everyone should understand that. i feel bad for her on these issue as she could have done some good if she did it all the right way.

Of course girls and women should be able to wear what they want but this is a woman well into her 20s who purposely posed as a teenager and released content that had sexual undertones in it. It is gross that people sexualize minors and is also gross when people make content to reel in the first group.
And to say that such commentary is too far ahead for Korea but people in the USA should get it is quite icky. Especially when we have shows like Euphoria where characters that are supposed to be teenagers in school are dresses like 20 year old clubbers. The sexualization of minors is a problem everywhere.

If you truly, truly think nothing is wrong with what she did or even the concept of what she did, then you truly need to look into how pedo pandering and Loli as a whole has hurt girls in modern day society.

    • @LettyRoseMikaelson
      @LettyRoseMikaelson 2 роки тому

@@mirage_summon9152 that was my point though. No one should be sexualizing minors. From what they wear to what they do. I didn’t hit on her age to much because there isn’t much to say on that other then it’s just wrong. So that I just left as is. What I meant by too far ahead for Korea, is when it comes to down to what she is wearing. Again like before I’m not such of it was Lolita as in the book that’s sexual or Lolita as in the fashion. In homes it’s accepted but Lolita fashion outside of the home really isn’t due the sexualizing. This is from my understanding and what I’ve seen for over 4 years now when it comes to Korea. I could be wrong on some topics as I don’t live there yet. As someone planning to move to Korea I’m trying to get as much information as possible. Misunderstandings are bound to happen. If that’s the case here, then let me know.
