- HOW TO CONTROL ALCOHOL INK - for beginners.
Controlling alcohol ink with your hairdryer is probably one of the most difficult things with this medium. Alcohol ink is never as easy as it looks.
As an alcohol ink beginner, the hairdryer is usually the first thing you try with ink. And like most of us experienced in the beginning, it can seem almost impossible to control the ink. The hairdryer is simply just to powerful.
Many start buying new hairdryers but feel that there is still too much power and the ink just flies everywhere. Before you know it- you have spend a lot of time and maybe also a lot of money and have gotten nowhere.
What I wanted to show you in this video is that you CAN make almost any dryer work - it is simply about learning the right way to use it.
The most natural thing in the world is to want to point the hairdryer directly on the ink and alcohol. But you really should. By using the dryer the way I showed you in the video, you will get so much more control.
I hope that you will find this helpful and start practicing with your dryer.
Using this technique requires some patience - take it slow, take your time - no need to rush. Hopefully in the end you will see the results you were looking for.
I'm trying to put together some more helpful tips and tricks to show you - if you have any ideas as to what you would like to see/learn - leave a comment and let me know.
Hope you enjoy the video.

Thanks for the tough love🤣 this was one of the most helpful videos I’ve seen! Thank you!!
LOL you are very very welcome 🤗 🤣😁
Excellent tutorial! I’ve learned more from this than from watching several others combined. I love how you explain exactly how to direct the hairdryer.
Thank You 😊 so glad you liked it
I’m in agreement with you‼️
This was incredibly helpful. As a beginner, I've been having a lot of trouble maintaining control over the ink with air, and this video helped save me so much time, effort and even money. Thank you!
For what it's worth: I was able to get total control of my air flow simply by attaching a simple dimmer switch to control the hair dryer. Any brand no matter how powerful. It doesn't matter. I also attached a flexible hose and just hold the end of the hose. You can put the hair dryer off to the side without holding it at all and just use the flexible hose. Much, much easier! I use one in each hand and move the ink in ways just one hand cannot do. I was able to explore areas of creativity I previously could not.
Great tip 🙌 thank you for sharing
I never could control the ink with a dryer so I took to paint brushes-after this, I’m trying the dryer again!!! Thank you so much🎉
You are very welcome 🤗

I just found your video and subscribed. I’m not sure if you are still doing them, however, I did want to tell you that this video helped me a great deal with the problem I was having… I was definitely holding my hairdryer incorrectly. So thank you for tough love, as you called it.😀

Thankyou and so very helpful I have been learning for two years and getting nowhere.
You’re welcome ☺️ glad you liked it
Thank you, Randi, SO much! I really appreciate the instruction and your sense of humour!😃
You are VERY WELCOME 🙏 🤩😁
What works for me very well is to use flexible ducting or hose attached to the dryer. I just mount the dryer somewhere off or under the table and just guide the hose wherever you want it. Weighs next to nothing. You don't have to listen to all that noise. The hose flips out of the way the moment you let it go and you can control "too powerful" dryers very easily.
So it works like an airbrush almost… ?
@@randihart5731 That's a good way to look at it. You can pinch off the end for a narrow stream of air or as wide as the dryer (about an inch or so ). You can have one in each hand at the same time and really move the ink in ways you couldn't do with just one hand.
Very smart 👍😀
Thank you, your videos are very helpful for a beginner like me, practice, practice!
Thank you 😊
Thank you from a newbie who so far has just made messy blobs or a page full of fingers, will go practice this way now!!
