I would recommend testing the unit by hooking it up to the battery before cutting or filing the throttle. It sucks to do all that work and find it doesn’t heat up due to a faulty unit!
Indeed and oxford will not refund them if they where glued or trimmed just use a 12 V battery like I did
Channels as this have mostly no real experience, they are sellers.
Thanks for this great tip. I'm about to buy this product soon.
@@corneilcorneil Cool, but this is literally written in the instructions provided with the kit. Sellers can read, right? :)
@@abominacja47 And what is your point? "This is written...." What "this"?
I only watched this video to find out if the grips turn off by themselves and I found the answer - YES! Thanks!
My daughter surprised me witha pair for my Tenere.
What a surprise.
Excellent install help here..I wasn't even aware of the differences in the 3 types! I recently purchased the 'Premier' style for my Ducati Multistrada.
Awesome video! Great to have a smart lady to explain it all!! 👍
Thanks for the comment moulin, we love having Marisa around as well!
Very important thing to fill warm on winter roads to keep the concentracion right and avoid azard's. Oxford grips are a great product to keep raiders on the safe side of the road.
Thanks, a very helpful preview of this product. I ordered some and they look like quality gear.
I'll tell ya what: This is the best no-BS heated grip installation vid I think I've ever seen on here. And the attractive blonde lady doing the narrative enhanced my overall experience. LOL. Seriously...she's great. The fatal mistake most everyone makes with Oxford installation is NOT pre-planning which direction the very large grip wiring harness stubs is oriented to. On the left side simply point it back toward seat as shown in vid. Do the approx same on the throttle side. Having the harness stub pointing backwards makes it so much easier to attach the wiring harness to the switchgear wiring loom.
I’m installing Cruiser version on Kawasaki Vulcan. I need a longer battery post to fit all components (grips, jacket plug, USB and tender). I put these on prior bike and LOVED them. Fingers crossed that this goes smooth, ie cutting off old grips and hoping I measured right! Thank you for the install instructions.
Were you able to remove the Crusier grips and move them to another bike?
Whoever fitted them to my Rebel but the wiring gets in the way of the indicator switches.
All I want to do is be able to rotate them around a few degrees but that must be superglue they supply with the kit
You should not connect it to battery directly unless you are a daily driver because even it has a voltage checker, it has also a internal resistance which drains your battery very slowly. Use a 20amp relay triggered by parking lights and don't forget to replace the ugly connectors with sumitomo types, because they are not waterproof and secure. My brand new set had an interupted power and I saw some weak sparks at connector inside and replaced them by sumitomo. Now, it works perfect.
Overkill and overly complex suggestion. The "intelligent controller" on the newer style Oxfords only draws approx 10 milliamps. Would take 50 years at that rate to draw down a Vstrom battery to the point where the battery wouldn't turn it over.
@@frankcastle5294 I put these on my bike the other week, rode to work for 4 days 1 hour each way, went to start it Wednesday after a night shift and the battery was dead. I am riding every day but am in london traffic so constantly stop starting
Well then check for a parasitic loss. Know how to do that? If you observe a draw of more than 150 milliamps or so during the test you have a parasite somewhere. If you suspect it is the grips then simply watch your meter...remove the grip inline fuse...and now check. A set of properly wired and working Oxfords have NO parasitic draw when at rest after approx 15 minutes of usage.@@dodgy_jammer281
Easy to diagnose.@@dodgy_jammer281

excellent video. I bought an Oxford adventure and they are working. where can i find this alternative part to attach the remote to the handlebars? what comes with the package does not fit. can help? thank you
Great video! Had some fitted, annoyingly the right side gets hotter than the left! They're sending me a new control unit to hopefully remedy the issue...
Oh no! Hopefully the new one works perfectly for you!
Did the new control unit fix it?
I've read that since the left grip isn't insulated by the throttle tube, its heat tends to dissipate to the handlebar.
@@toasted999 yes the replaced control unit fixed the problem, so all the talk about heat dissipating into the bars is nonsense, simply an electrical component issue/fault
Hi, how exactly do you turn it on? What do you do exactly, are there different options? I bought my bike with the heaters already installed but can not figure out how to turn it on. Thanks
The bracket holes didnt lineup with the control switch, still awaiting them to send a replacement after they said they sent 2 out registered mail,
It's possible to remove old grip without tools, just add some oil to the surface between rubber and plastic.
Yes but you’ll still have to stick something in between the bars and grips. I even used engine cleaner to remove mine
would you have a set to fit my 2010 Harley Davidson electra glide classic ?
I was curious if there is a way to use these with drive by wire? I want some for my victory octane but read on revzilla it is incompatible?

Which model you recommend for z900 and plz provide me link
Can these work on Enduro bikes? I have a 2013 350 KTM EXC-F. Would it be the adventure type of so?
The model that you select will depend on the length of the existing stock grips. For this particular bike, we chose the touring model as it fit best. This video at :50 or so shows the grip lengths.

Hi..Which set would be advisable for Royal Enfield Himalayan
Hey Sainath,
We didn't get to install a pair on the Himalayan while it was here in the shop. If you are planning to ride off-road at all, the adventure grip is advised because it has a more textured grip (better for off-road). Before you order, if you could measure the end of the handlebar to ensure you have enough room to mount the grip - the adventure grip is 5.2 inches long and trimmable to 4.8 inches so you do have a little wiggle room to get the right fit. The sport and touring models are a little bit shorter, but they do not have as much texture on the grip.
Hi... Thank you for your advice, i have seen some one using Oxford Hotgrips Premium Retro.... what do you suggest?
Which set would be appropriate for Honda CB500x (2019, the newest model)?
Bilo koje brate, svi bi radili
Samo zavisi na duzinu tvoje grips
I use this product. What I don't like about this is that it resets everytime when I turn the ignition off. So I have to press buttons every time I turn the ignition on.

And I was quoted $300 to fit! Pfffft
Wires look ugly. The wire stem could have been bended 90
If you have 22mm bars don't get 22mm grips as they WON'T FIT!!
I ordered a pair. And my grips go over 120°C! on 100%. Also the plastic melted and the hotwire came out....
Can someone tell me whats the normal Temperature of the grips on 100%?
Hi Octanius,
At 100% the grips should be 122°F (50°C).
Can this be use in mtb ?
Which set would be appropriate for HeliBars (Honda VFR)?
Hi, Walter. The Touring models are the best fit for your VFR.
How much Indian rupees it cost?
Hi Krishnendu,
We only sell this product in the US. You will have to check with a local dealer for pricing.

She's cute in a dorky way :)
Good luck on the Pan America. After hours of filing and sanding the idiotic glue they put in the grips and grinding down the throttle tube on the bench grinder, only the left side fits. The oxfords are 15 thousands smaller than 7/8 and 1 inch to begin with and the throttle tube is almost a 16th bigger in places. I would have went with other standard all rubber brands if I had known these are plastic and glue inside. As of 2024 the base model is discontinued, so no more aftermarket heated grip crap needs to deal with.
Had to watch it twice as she is cutie, never heard a thing the first time.
Just NEVER connect directly to the battery. There is not one reason for that, except lazyness and no knowledge.
