Born in October 2009, she started playing drums at the age of two, played live at four, and formed her family band "Kaneaiyoyoka" at five. At 6 years old, she even released her first CD while in kindergarten.
In addition to drums, Yoyoka sings vocals, plays the piano and is a songwriter. In 2018, at the age of 8, she became the youngest weekly champion in the under-18 category of the international female drummer contest "Hit Like A Girl".
Her application video, a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Good Times Bad Times" was featured on NBC, NPR, in Rolling Stone Magazine and in Billboard and then spread all over the world.
Her drumming prowess has been praised by music legends such as Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Sheryl Crow, Gene Simmons and Eric Singer (KISS), Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), Hayley Williams (Paramore), Sass Jordan, Tony Royster Jr., Brad Wilk (Rage Against the Machine) , Derrick McKenzie (Jamiroquai).
At the age of eight, Yoyoka appeared in Japan's famous rock festival "RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL in EZO" as the youngest performer ever and made a surprise appearance on the stage of Fall Out Boy in "Summer Sonic Tokyo" in front of an audience of 20,000. Later, she was the guest drummer for two songs of Cyndi Lauper’s performance at Tokyo Orchard Hall, the last day of her Japan tour.
Yoyoka is endorsed by world-class brands such as Nike, Moncler, and UNIQLO, filming well-received commercials in Thailand and New York. At the age of eight, she became the youngest drummer ever to sign an endorsement contract with drum makers Pearl and VIC FIRTH, and has since then also signed with Zildjian, CYMPAD and DW.
She made two appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in LA in January and May 2019 where she was praised by Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters, and later on had a successful live house at the legendary "Whisky A Go Go".
In April 2019, she was selected as one of Newsweek Japan’s "100 Japanese people respected by the world", the youngest in history.
Pearl showcased her talent the 2020 NAMM show in Anaheim the world’s largest musical instruments trade show. She was the youngest female and only Japanese drummer to appear.
The impact of "Yoyoka" continues to spread worldwide. Her favorite drummers are John Henry Bonham, Chris Coleman, Nate Smith, Chad Smith and David Grohl. Her dream is to travel and play sessions with people all over the world.

My thought exactly. And you know what? Initially it made me feel like a failure. So I had a pity party with myself for two minutes. Then I thought screw that ! I'm just gonna continue to celebrate and enjoy the accomplishments of this amazing kid as I have done for the last few years . I hope I live another 15 years so when I'm 75 I can cherish the great music that she's put on her Grammy winning albums !!!

After about 20 viewings I am finally struck by how brave this video is. We all know and swear up and down that Yoyoka is one of the best drummers on UA-cam but now she is showing real vulnerability by playing for us with instruments she has just begun to learn. This is the age where a kid would usually pick up a fun instrument like guitar or bass and no one would have any expectations of them. Here she is not only putting it out there, she is showing her process. No problem guessing that she will master these instruments, and many others if she chooses, not to mention her production skills.

@@kargyraa1 Let me clarify then: I'm just looking at the bigger picture of everything Yoyoka's dad has done for her - both audio and video - to get her talent out there for all of us to see and hear. I'm sure there are pro's who can pick apart anything he does, but that's not what I'm talking about.
Easy people! Easy! Yes, the sound was not the best but she will get to it. she was just having fun and testing stuff, one thing I can be sure of, she will get the guitar down, the base, the sound etc together, she will blow our minds, let's be in awe of this child and ask ourselves what is going on with our entitled, lazy, loud kids!!

Yoyoka is so skilled and professional, that I think people sometimes forget that she is child. Very funny to watch her discover her guitar. Like Christmas time with our children!
Yoyoka brings tears to my eyes, i have 2 daughters and one granddaughter, i can see my granddaughter learning an instrument and hopefully find a passion for it.

I discovered her on UA-cam when she was 5 years old. Feels like yesterday.
Watching her through all the steps necessary to build a song is very interesting and shows her growth as an all around musician, playing, recording and mixing. It also, at least for me, shows that a some of modern pop music is, at it's base, pretty simple in structure and cords.
You should check Rick Beato's channel. Especially his series of "What makes this song great" and "Top 10 Spotify review".
My guess is Yoyoka intentionally picked that song partially because it's a pretty easy song to play, and it's catchy. Smart choice, as a budding music producer.

Yoyoka is amazing. Her ability to swing is unbelievable. Gridded, quantified recordings are fantastic for learning and writing, but I hope she always keeps that groove I've seen her do that only comes with jamming with friends & family

I been following this young lady for a little over a year now. Its almost like watching a family member sort of like a little sister, or favorite niece. I am so amazed at how she is someone that I look forward to seeing.
In America we are told every day by the media that if you are a white Male that you are a racist, or a Supremacist so that not only your own country hates you, the world hates you based off what they are being told.
Anyway, my point is this: for a few minutes can escape from the insanity of what once was a great country and watch someone thousands of miles away and like everyone of us that have adopted this sweet girl, this gift from God, she is a reminder of what the world could be. She is peace, wonder, sharing, and all that is good in people.
Okay. Back to the real life of the gloom and doom, another day in the good old USA.

How many times may I vote YES to that suggestion. Will also take the opportunity to submit my 2x per year begging suggestion for her to cover Bonham's thundering drums in Led Zeppelin's Rock and Roll. It just seems out of balance for this miracle of Yoyoka who has so much respect for the late great Bonham not to have weighed in yet with her interpretation of this thunderous classic.
I watched all of this and I'm just blown away by it. Is she even 12 years old yet? She's already a one girl band- and now she's proven that she's a producer and arranger too.
I don't know what the Japanese word for Bravo is, but it certainly applies here. Great job, not so little girl anymore, Yoyoka! 😎👍🥀

Well done you!!! Ok everybody, if you haven't heard about this young lass yet, you will!!! I see awesomeness and hope right in front of my eyes and hear it in my ears!!! I, like a few others have been watching Yoyo grow up right here on UA-cam!! Her home in Japan to N. America at Winter NAMM!! I wish I some of my earliest posts on her right at my fingertips!! (I mean I kinda do, by going through my UA-cam history I could easily find and post them, but that is a lot of space to take up)Because I do believe that I said to keep a very close eye and ear on this girl!!
Having spent the very most of my adult life in the music and entertainment industry, moreover in the live sound and recording end of the business. I have seen my fair share of "up and coming" musicians and entertainers!! But watching Yoyo grow in each instrument and now taking a seat in the engineer's chair, as well as being her own producer and director, I have seen the magic of music bridge gaps in all ways! But this is something special, something far more tangible, and I/we are watching a star rise up and shine brilliantly bright in the music Galaxy!! This all, every thing she has done has been an absolute pleasure to be part of!!! And this is just the tip of the iceberg my friends, just the tip!! Final thought here... Yoyo, find good, honest people (other than your family, as they will always have your best interests at heart!!)but find good management and production teams, great music industry lawyers and industry connections to further your career!! Never sell yourself short, and never do anything legally without a period of time to think it through!! The music industry has changed considerably since I started, and those changes now favor the musician/artist and not the money hungry record labels and their cronies!! They will try to get you into their "stable" or "farm" of other musicians, and always push you to sign on the dotted line, before it is too late!! Not true anymore, take your time, you have a long prosperous career ahead of you sweetheart, NEVER DOUBT THAT FOR ONE SECOND!!!!!!!
