We've been live streaming via eCamm on an 8GB RAM M1 MacBook Air for a couple of years now, and we have not had any trouble other than the limited ports. We've even done an interview without incident, and we rarely connect via Ethernet-oh, the horror! 😂 We lately have been using the iPhone Continuity Camera to free up a port, but we've also had no trouble using a DSLR or the Elgato FaceCam along with RØDE Wireless Go II mics or simply the built-in MacBook Air mic. We don't do a lot of on-screen graphics during the stream, and yes, we do sometimes have to use a USB dock for additional ports. We've also used the MacBook Air to run a dual XLR mic setup with a USB audio interface with no trouble, so I say that the answer to your question is a resounding YES!
I think she is thinking about Twitch streaming where people have a lot of background processes going on. If people can stream with a phone or iPad then I don't see the problem with a MacBook air. I would use a cooling pad if temps are a problem.
Glad to hear it! This recommendation is for people looking to upgrade a new system - something to handle complex/demanding setups.
Oh boy! Thanks for this.. timely info I needed
I'm so glad this was helpful for you! 🎉 Hope that maybe you'll be able to stop by and say hey during one of our live streams someday! (Friday at 10:00am PT) 🙂

Hi Luria, loved the video. Needed your help and opinion. I'm planning on buying m1 mac but confused between mac mini m1 or Macbook air m1 both with either 8GB or 16GB RAM. I'm going to use it for streaming and recording videos on OBS, pulling my sony camera feed and mic through capture devices, plus display capturing powerpoint slides and also using Zoom simultaneously to teach from OBS virtual cam ALL at the same time. Any suggestions that if I do ALL these multi-core processes which machine should I be going for?
My suggestion after doing livestreams with my 8GB RAM M2 MacBook Air is to go for at least 16GB RAM. If you're planning on doing everything you've listed on it, the more memory the better 👍🏽 And I'd also recommend the Mac mini since it has a fan, so heat & throttling won't be an issue. Good luck!
@@yutakoh thanks brother
At this point, if you are looking to buy something new, you'd want to look at the M3s with 64 RAM. That will help future-proof you! ua-cam.com/video/gKMTgDEJn2M/v-deo.htmlsi=IDq3HylYfIMoP5my
I've used my M2 MacBook Air 8GB/256GB successfully on my 24 hr livestreams, though I don't do anything fancy with graphics or chat interactions. I do notice the laptop warming up after a few hours, but it's handled running OBS with a handful of scenes and transitions just fine. I'm excited this year to use OBS v30, as so far it seems much better at memory management 👍🏽 Great video!
Glad you enjoyed this!
thank you SO MUCH!!!
You're welcome! ♥
What about streaming music on twitch with macbook pro 2020 i7 32gb/512
It might work if you keep things simple. The bigger issue is making sure that you're not using copyrighted music, because that will get you strikes and can even get you banned.
What about macbook air with i5 😢
Hello ma'am, i have macbook air ... The basis one... I want to do live stream study with me session, i just need timer it's new to me... I don't know anything.. Can i consider evmux.
Yes, Ecamm or OBS. And you'll want to keep your production simple to avoid overloading your computer.
hi
you recommend macbook air m2 for game capture with elgato or avermedia ?
If you already have it, give it a go!
But if you're shopping for a new system, no, we don't recommend the Air devices for gaming, streaming, or recording video. Not having a fan means that it's not going to be able to handle all of that hard work without overheating eventually.
@@LiveStreamingPros thanks for info
Amazing video as always and it was even better because it had a Mac in the video
😁
Hi mam I have one question can I do live stream with MacBook Air m2 on UA-cam for 6-7 hours daily stock market stream live with proper screen recording it will do or not plz reply
If you keep it simple it could work for a while, but you'll risk overtaxing that device if you use it for a complex stream for that long every day.
Can you stream from a tablet without 1000 subscribers? I know it doesn't work on your phone.
UA-cam updated this and now you only need 50 subscribers!
@@LiveStreamingPros I know they archive it after and you can't make it public if you wanted to.
If they won't let you make it public their is really no purpose in doing it through the app.
@@Rare_Chef This isn't true unless you have chosen the setting to "private" after your live stream is over. I recommend going into your app and checking your settings :)
They weren't letting me switch it of f of private yesterday, but today I can. Thanks.
I have only one question ..can we do live streaming with mac mini m2 8gb ?
If you keep things simple, you can probably get it to work...
I thought m2 is a stronger chip alone. Thanks 🙏
You're welcome! The Macbook air with the M2 chip is amazing for other things - just not *this* thing 😉
I Have a M2 Mac Air and i do a weekly podcast with 2 guest and it’s horrible. I look great, but the people on the other end are just bad. I have a Mac Mini Pro, i will be switching to that for my next one.
For guests, I’d definitely use something more than an Air! But also keep in mind that their machines, camera and upload speed on their end will affect performance as well!
I tried live streaming in OBS with my MacBook Air Intel chip and OH BOY she did NOT LIKE THAT, I had a my Sony remote camera via usb external dock and screen recording twitch, I almost killed my bb 😂
Yeah, the Air devices are not really suited for that.
What’s about 2019 Apple MacBook Air with 1.6GHz Intel Core i5 (13-inch, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD Storage) Space Gray (Renewed)
If that's what you have, use it! If you are shopping, the Air is not a good investment for live streaming/recording.
@@LiveStreamingPros so what would be ?
There's really no single perfect answer, it's going to depend on your needs, and how complex a live stream or recording you're going to need. But as a general statement for a Mac you're going to want an M3 or an M4 with as much hard drive and memory as you can get, and for a PC if you get a strong gaming system you should be good to go.
@@LiveStreamingPros thanks 😊
