I'm telling you, one of these days this False Sky will break for good and something very VERY bad will come from the other side, then we will have no choice but to awaken the Heavenly Principles.
If that were to happen I hope Genshin won't use the same forces from Honkai Impact/Star Rail like the Old Gods, Honkai, Aeons (Stellaron, Swarm) etc. I hope it will be new and unique and to top it off it would be cool if the big bad outside Teyvat is going to be much worse and powerful than the ones aforementioned.
hey, I remember people going crazy over the celestial nail in the Night Kingdom. Celestia have been pinning those wherever the outbreak of Abyss happened. The Suramar's desert, Dragonspine, the Chasm... I guess in future patches Celestia will decide the Night Kingdom is polluted a bit too much? Or at least there will be danger of them doing it. I know the trailer was showing something different that we got in 5.0 but COME ON, an entire celestial nail being there just for shit and giggles?
@@Rakasztathe fact that the Nail in the Night Kingdom has Purple coloration means that the Abyss Corruption is too strong for the Nails purifying capabilities.
@@bisayafascist5725 well the one in Dragonspine was even shattered but still it wasn't beyond repair. It also still distorted climate on the entire mountain
I hate the "it was all a dream" trope BUT I feel like "it was all a dream" is VERY different from "you exist in a dream" In one, you wake up. In the other, you are the dream. That's some crazy levels of existential dread.
Fortunately Hoyo isn't dumb enough to go to that direction. Why? Well because Genshin has one of the most Volatile community out there and that is Scaranation so just imagine what would happen if their Husbando is just a figment of imagination within a dream, so I don't think Da Wei wants to get stabbed for real if that were to happen.
@@bisayafascist5725 I'm no expert at all-things-fandom, but considering what CN Scara-HATERS did IRL, I'd say those are the people Hoyo ought to fear the most...
@@demonic_banshee those "Scara Haters" are actually The die hard Scaramouch fans, as a matter of fact they HATE Wanderer because Hoyo made Scaramouch have a "Redemption" arc and they rather want him to be a bad guy.
@@bisayafascist5725 I've heard those people hated for him to be playable and everything bc he's such a "bad person", talks rudely and so on. Whatever the case, those people are batshit crazy and deserve to be thrown into prison for their actions. I'm a Wanderer-fan and I don't want to be thrown into the same category as this scum.
dust of azoth and dream solvents having the same role but for higher rarity materials feels like it could also be a connector in this line of thinking~
You know what is also deep red colored and glitchy... Perrie the harbinger also it would be interesting if the teyvat we know is a dream from the heavenly principles and the real teyvat is just a desolate planet that resulted from the war with Nibelung just imagine we awake the heavenly principles at the end and just in a wink we are standing in an empty rock staring at the red space
hold on doesn't the perinheri story mention how he goes into the corridor, seeing a crimson moon, then leaving? could this be someone trying to leave the firmament and coming back?
Peruere's entire character is basically a foreshadowing of themes and things happening in Natlan kek "purgatory flames", some ghosts coming out as snapshots of time(similar to Clorinde quest), red glitching exactly like sky beyond the firmament, existing between life and death(two worlds) e.t.c i think all of this hints at grander connection between Ronova and Crimson Moon if anything
Tbh from the very first moment I saw the true red sky I had a thought that the whole world where Teyvat is placed in got conquered by Abyss, and the firmament keeps Abyss from entering Teyvat. Also wow, I never thought about connecting Vera's Melancholy to the lore this way, props to you.
so fun fact, fighting all the riftwolves on elynas's surface grants you the achievement "Angle Eraser", a reference to a man who rounded out all the corners of his house to hide from the Hounds of Tindalos, as they were rumored to "live within the corners of the universe, while humans lived in the curves of the universe"
this suddenly reminded me of a fanfic I read years ago where the twist in the end was that all of the events of genshin are paimon's dream and the real teyvat is already destroyed, and she's reliving its destruction over and over again in her dream, constantly trying to find a way to save it. the traveler is a figment of her mind that she invented to not feel so lonely anymore, which is why she's constantly emphasizing how she's their most important travel companion, and through the traveler she is also trying to change events that she could not change herself. now I don't think this is the actual genshin ending but it's pretty interesting to think about in connection with your suzumiya haruhi theories lol. especially the connection between holy blades and the power of imagination, perhaps the traveler/descenders are so powerful because they are a figment of someone else's imagination and therefore are not subject to the rules of the world or "fate". like maybe they're literally someone's mary sue oc where the original person felt powerless to change the fate of teyvat, but through a dream they can imagine this all powerful isekai hero changing the fate of the world. maybe we're just the primordial one's mary sue oc lmao.
"what if the worst day of my life was just the idle thought of a really really bored god" -my oc when i put them through endless and mindless series of suffering for giggles, probably
"In the perpetual meantime of a sheltered eternity, most are content to live, and not to dream. But in the hidden corners where the gods' gaze does not fall, there are those who dream of dreaming. Some say a few are chosen and the rest are dregs, but I say we humans have our humanity. We will defy this world with a power from beyond." - Dainsleif - Travail I will always come back to this quote, because I do believe Dain is directly stating the plot of the game here. It's poignant, beautifully written, and seems more and more relevant with each patch and after every new connection theory crafters make, especially everything you've mentioned in this video roozevelt.
I believe that, at some point soon, the False Sky will shatter completely and the 5.1 test of the Natlan "domain" will expand to the entire map. Possibly mid-Snezhnaya. I don't think Khaenri'ah will be when SHTF, I think it'll be a lot earlier. The Winter Night's Lazzo told us that "check mate is not where the game ends" Collecting and using the gnoses is Step 1, but I think the Tsaritsa won't be able to use it against Celestia since Celestia is probably dead (I've become more and more convinced of this ever since we found the Byakuyakoku Collection and *brought that info to the Akasha network* and Celestia didn't notice, plus the island is ruined, plus THE HYDRO THRONE GETTING NUKED WITH NO RESPONSE (dealing with the prophecy was one thing, destroying the Throne was something completely different and SHOULD have immediately caused a response). Sorry about the stream of conciousness lol
Now that I think about it Celestia being in Catatonic state is actually plausible because of the existence of the Hexenzircle and Alice. Remember that Alice's job is to maintain the Firmament and protect Teyvat from outside threat so the only reason why she does it is because she was chosen and the ones who hired her is currently Out of Commission.
Speaking of honkai... interestingly, ever since star rail was released, theres been a crafting material from Herta Space Starion called phlogiston, which looks identical to the phlogiston recently introduced in Genshin. Its just... interesting to me, that with the introduction of phlogiston in Genshin, that we are seemingly getting much closer to leaving Teyvat
The honkai version even appears as small droplets, with the beginning of the description saying "particles that form the flame". Reminds me a lot of Natlans sacred flame
@@koratora2468 I noticed it too. There are also many others thing related to teyvat in honkai 3. Sumeru is a domain, Fislch come from beyond the skies, and Abyss monsters are similar to monsters from the sea of quanta. Genshin is closer and closer to something new, only 1 region left, and I think the story will be continued in star rail.
@@HonkaiBaneI hope not, I want Genshin to develop its own identity like how Warhammer fantasy is completely different from Warhammer 40k despite being in the same Multiverse.
Ah so that must be why the algorithm took me here. I remember her talking about someone, and a bunch of us must have come over here so the algo slapped me and said "you there, you're in that demographic so you go too". Gotta say it was a fun video.
22:26 on that note. Kirara's quest in Simulanka just hinted that whether or not things are real or not, both are reality. For Simulanka, it didn't matter that the people knew it was real because it was real to them. For Teyvat, whether Teyvat is a dream or not isn't the most relevant part because it was real to Teyvat, it's their reality. The reveal that Teyvat is just dream, wouldn't change the experience because it is real and honestly I think it would expand it more because we can now connect a lot of things. The fact there are multiple Samsaras could be a hint that the dreamer is having the same dream over and over again. Teyvat could also be a storybook and the multiple samsaras and multiple endings. Descenders are just witnesses of the story, they're not part of it. Probably why they can't actually change the dream, but add things to it.
I personally think Teyvat is both a dream and real, there are a lot of signs pointing to this and I'm not bothered to list them all but a lot of it goes back to the samsara and Irminsul and how they are all about dreams but have links to code and computer simulation terminology, stuff about the world of Teyvat resetting, I could bring visions and the concept of ambition/wishes into this but that would take a while etc. I think that just like with Nilou, the samsara won't end, the dreamer will not wake up, until they get their "wish" that they dreamed for. Kind of reminds me of the endless 8 in Haruhi now that I think about it.
simulanka shows us that "fictional beings" can "escape" to "the real world". i believe that's what the whitches did, but also maybe the sinners are trying to do that? i haven't consolidated my thoughts on this, but i feel someone should touch that detail simulanka gave us.
Speaks about "Dreams" coming to reality, speaks about "Solvent".... Forgot to mention Dream Solvent lmao Good video btw, its just that my brain was screaming that.
Maybe you are cooking considering that khaenri'ah chapter is "the dream yet to be dreamed". In any case , the Traveler ascending to the seat of the keeper to keep the dream going is an interesting thought I had after watching your video. If we liken the fact that descenders are outer-god that can reshape worlds through their will/thought this could totally happens. Now how to link that to the fact that Celestia put humanity on a pedestal, visions(ancient names) , ambition/memory (contending fire) and ect. Idk but considering that Natlan is basically mini Teyvat we may get answers soon enough.
My money is on Teyvat being in a similar situation with Penacony in HSR, where the leakage of memoria + a stellaron created a blend of reality and dream within the star system.
It can be also similar to Mars Quantum computer in HI3 part 2. Considering HI3, Genshin and Star Rail took place in the same universe/imaginary tree, just different locations and time, all 3 games have repeating narratives/terms.
This is a wonderful video but i think it gave me some real life existential dread too. Genshin and every story humans created started with a thought or a dream. I can see why people might think our world is the same.
Holy damn.. I never connected that Vera's melancholy is a reference from Haruhi. I feel old now. Also I bet you hoyo actually used Haruhi as a base, they're a weeb company afterall.
Holy shit, I did not expect to see a Haruhi mention in this video specifically, cause like, yeah, Vera's Melancholy is literally "Shoujo Vera no Yuutsu", "Shao nü wei la de you yu", both JP and CN titles are a direct Haruhi reference, but I've never seen anyone bring this up before until now. I'm still praying for Hirano Aya in Genshin.
OK ok ok but what if it's "forbidden knowledge" because it's the collective belief of everyone in Teyvat in their reality, that is holding the sky (and Teyvat) together. Enough people realize the sky is fake, and Teyvat crumbles away~
You talk about the blind dreamer, you show Fischl, and you don't go there??? I'm so glad you've dreamed big in this one, the dream lives on. Love your work.
To address your last point, I think that if all of the people of Teyvat are real but the world they share is a dream, the things that make the "it was all a dream" trope bad don't apply. The experiences and relationships would still be real so long as they are remembered.
So what you mean to tell me is that... Teyvat is basically SAO? Cuz it does basically mean that it's a big VR game (Fantasy/Dream) with real-life consequences
People of Teyvat could be memes. In Honkai Star Rail memes are memetic entities that don't have physical body and can only exist inside dreamscapes with Memokeepers as exception, they can freely traverse the Universe using blessing of Remembrance.
Man I hope they don't follow Aether Gazers path (with the whole setting being a simulation and the enemies are just Malicious Data) because that would be so ASS. I hope Genshin is basically like a Mortal Realm like in Age of Sigmar and outside is basically the Warp (Abyss).
I would like to point out that Lovecraft NEVER stated that Azathoth dreamed reality, this was a thing added by later writers prob influenced by Gods of pagana, the original mythos and what has become after so many writers are very different, not even the term outer God was used
One day, the whole dome will break and we'll see a cutscene of the whole Teyvat's reaction. Venti and Zhongli looking up with some shock but kind of expectant, Raiden readying Inazuma for a war that is to come, Nahida straight up worried because of the implications and her conversation with Il Dottore. Neauvillette looking up with worry but a steady gaze, Mavuika who is just, "oh another thing to fight."
11:49 *squints* I know they mention Delphi in Enkanomiya because I've been living there after 5.0 and 5.1's info AQs. Even when I try to get away, things like this happen and bring me right back. Long comment ahead Enka book Vol 3: about The Serpent's Heart From the first time our ancestors discovered this place, it had already played host to a unique phenomenon in which space itself might overlap in a certain locale. Later, those who came before us would utilize this phenomenon by creating the Serpent's Heart. It would be used to guard secrets, imprison criminals, and worship the great imaginary serpent, Ouroboros. In the earliest times, this place was called Delphi, the land of snakes. AND from a bit of dialogue in the Serpent and Drake quest (shout out to your first appearance, Enjou, our pookie) Aru: The Serpent's Heart is home to an altar that is considered the heart of the Cosmic Serpent. Before the coming of Watatsumi Omikami, we called this place The Heart of Ouroboros. So I guess the VM snippet is trying to say "the place where you are" which is strange way if saying it. Kind of like how the sibling said that "home is where ever we are together." However, I'm guessing the purpose of weird phrasing in VM is to highlight this section of Enka's book and its importance. First Ouroborus and its cyclical nature which ties into the samsara cycles that we know exist, even if aren't completely sure the details. Also, something something Ancient Names. I looked up Cosmic Serpent and the only other thing I got was about DNA, which is kind of interesting. That area in Enka has a natural layering system, which kind of reminds me of all those whitenight and evernight puzzles. The area is the same, but what you can see or do is different depending on the light. There's some things that lead me to think that Teyvat is a multilayered world, or as my friend put it, like a digital image where you can draw on different layers. Like Varanara, whether you see the aranara depends on if you've played the music. Eleazar was contained to those born in Sumeru because layer 4 was infected with some forbidden knowledge. And that's how Enkanomiya "fell down." Maybe the heart of the cosmic serpent (human dna?? the genesis pearl?? something new??? ) is the base layer of Teyvat that points to why Teyvat exists. After all, Delphi is where the main human characters in VM are from before they go in their space adventures. I know this wasn't the point of the video. I guess 15:05 is me too 🦊🍷
22:25 in this event, nahida asks the traveler “what if this all is just a dream” at the end of the event.. I found it interesting and didn’t see anyone else mentioning it so decided to say it here since it was brought up
What if the dream of the Elder God is Teyvat itself, and when it wakes up, it will see that eveything it imagined became reality or fought to became reality beyond its dream? I wonder how it will react when it have to face its "creation".
If that thing in the sky is really Yog Sothoth, I fear what could happen if we get a "Dunwich Horror" situation. Now that you mention Lovecraft, I'm making so many more connections than before to the stories I've heard of and read.
@@wordsmith6154 picture this. Tsaritsa opens a door to Celestia using the Gnosis but instead of being greeted by the Sustainer it's a Lovecraftian entity and said entity shines a beam at the Tsaritsa impregnating her and instantly gives birth to Genshin's Orphan of Kos.
I tend to have dreams at times that feel like reality. I even usually follow the similar rules to reality. But there have been times where I have tried to use my own thoughts to change the dream.
21:20 I don't think it's goofy that you made the connection. let's not forget the dialog between liben and the Traveller right before the natlan patch as it suggests their trying to make that connection as well
I REMEMBER BRINGING UP HARUHI SUZUMIYA ON YOUR VIDEO DISCUSSING VERAS MELANCHOLY. I LOVE Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. One of my top 10 animes. So I love that you acknowledge it here. There's definitely a LOT of similarities. Not a one for one but pretty damn close!!! Also, her name is more pronounced Hah-roo-hee. Not Haroo-hee. In case you weren't sure.
Back in a certain chapter in Honkai Impact, we see Otto using a machine to peer into other Bubble Universes, and Teyvat was one of them. In an interview, one of the devs mentions too that Teyvat is a Bubble Universe when explaining some connections between the games. Basically I assume the false sky, and the red digital mess behind it, is most likely the Sea of Quanta, or parts of the Sea of Date that are slowly consuming the broken world, and the Abyss is most likely the corruption of the Sea on the Bubble World
It's funny, for the past decade or so, Elder Scrolls lore has been a constant fixation of mine. Getting into Genshin has been weird. On the surface, it wouldn't appear to have much in common with the Elder Scrolls series outside of being an open world RPG. But when I start to scratch the surface of the lore, they seem to share a surprisingly similar core. It's actually canon for TES (or at least a very well supported theory, canon is slightly fuzzy with this series) that its world is dreamed up by a sleeping godhead. So. I feel right at home with this theory. Also "The Blind Idiot God" is giving me Kaeya hangout flashbacks. Even when he's not explicitly mentioned, his presence is felt.
so... some thoughts that came to mind: 1. its curious to me that azazoth is known as the "primordial demiurge" in lovecraftian myths, cuz as we know, genshin has a lot of gnosticism in it, n it just happens that in gnosticism the demiurge is often attributed with the role of the "creator of the universe and lesser gods", a role in genshin which has been attributed to the primordial one n i cant help but wonder if somehow, the primordial one is connected to azazoth. 2. the whole deal with tyevat potentially being a dream of a higher entity reminds me of hi3's kevin's plan. the tl;dr of it was "bro wanted to evolve the human race to a stage where they were able to deal with honkai, but everyone that was not able to evolve ended up in a comatose state n in a "shared dream". in hi3, the main cast goes n defeat kevin n this plan doesnt succeed. but i wonder if tyevat is not a result of a somewhat similar plan, by either the primordial one, or even an older entity. 3. in light of this previous point n the dream theory, dainsleif words in the travail video, take a whole new meaning.
I really loved this video! The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was the first slice of life anime I ever watched, and the Sumeru dream Archon Quest immediately made me think of S2 with the Endless Eight.
Oh my god, I'm SO glad to finally hear a content creator talking about Edward Plunkett!!! His works were a huge inspiration for Lovecraft and everyone after that period. And often people don't even know, because the name Lovecraft has become mainstream, yet the true father of fantasy is forgotten way too often... I love his stories and was so excited when I heard the name Pegana in Star Rail. Can't wait to get there!
Considering HSR x hi3rd collab and now 5.1 all of them being in pretty much save time frame happening they might be cooking hard something with all of this Imagine mega crossover event happening in the future after this unfolds all the way
It's ok Roozevelt, from the beginning of the game (until now I'm holding on by a thread here) I'm a firm believer that the entirety of the game is loosely based on Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles. Lol. Why else does the Abyss sibling have a data in Irminsul unless they're not the real one.🤭
Why does this remind me so much of Honkai Part 2's story, with the bubble world being stuck in the sea of quantum, and surviving by sinking nails into the land to keep the power of the sea at bay.
If Vera's Melancholy doesn't end up being a biography book of one of the descenders, i'mma riot. Seriously tho, with how older books become more and more important with each new region, i wonder if the whole lore of Genshin was actually given us in 1.0 through books with very VERY heavy and convoluted allegories. Also, i personaly believe that achivement "Angle Eraser" for completing all beastly rifts IS a soft confirmation for Riftwolfs being based on Hounds of Tindalos. That does make me wonder, though, what it makes Gold then in potential relations to Lovecraftian Mythos. One interesting Lovecraftian reference that i don't see often is the name of the track that plays in Elynas, specifically in "Nice to meet you" place before you purify it - The Shadow Out of Time. The name is a reference Lovecraft's novel by the same name which indirectly tells of the Great Race of Yith, an extraterrestrial species with the ability to travel through space and time. What's interesting is that Yith come up during Ann's story world quest along with 2 other civilization names. : "Ann: This is the center of the world. The castle where the dragon lurks, the tower that imprisons the Princess. Sometimes, it is the lost Ancient City of Yith. Sometimes, Arcadia. At times, it is even golden Hyperborea." In the novel: "MC discovers that the Yithians on Earth died out eons ago (their civilization destroyed by a rival, utterly alien pre-human race described as "half-polypous" creatures) but the Yithian minds will inhabit new bodies on Earth after humanity is long gone. His tenuously held sanity is challenged when he discovers the proof he seeks-and that not only do remains of the Yithians' past civilization still exist on Earth; but also still remaining are those who destroyed them. It is also mentioned that the current appearance of the Yithians is not the original; but one acquired during a previous mass-projection of the minds of their race when disaster beckoned, leaving the original inhabitants to die in the bodies of the Yithians." - thx wiki This does kinda make me wonder, if this can be connected to how Elynas describes his birth: "Elynas: Before I was born, I floated in the cosmic darkness. It was cold there, and lonely. I was so sad, then, and I would often cry. Elynas: But later, I heard Mother's voice. Elynas: She wished for me to be born into a beautiful world, to give me life, to give me a strong and healthy body that could walk the world, to grant me a beautiful name." Also, another interesting thing is that Hyperborea mentioned alongside Yith is also kinda, tentatively connected to Azathoth. In Expanded Myhos, Azathoth has a twin sibling Ubbo-Sathla. They were created by the Elder Gods to be their slaves, but rebelled against their masters and spawned a whole generation of Great Old Ones to fight against them. As a punishment, the Elder Gods reduced the twins to mindless beings and banished them. Azathoth was exiled to the primal chaos "beyond the physical universe", while Ubbo-Sathla was confined to the deep underground realm of grey-litten Y'qaa. Grey-litten Y'qaa, a.k.a. the abyss of Y'qaa, or the Cavern of Y'quaa is an underground realm inhabited. In Carter's "The Descent into the Abyss", the realm of Y'qaa can be reached by the tunnels deep inside Mount Voormithadreth in Hyperborea, which suggests that it might be intended to be the abode of Abhoth, the "Source of Uncleanliness", as featured in Smith's "The Seven Geases". Considering Hyperborea was also mentioned in Ballad of the Fjords description that seems to talk about Snezhnaya's legend, i wonder if there's more for Snezhnaya and abyss connection that we don't know of yet.
I m glad i started honkai star rail recently lol. That ll surely be useful >:3 Who knows, mayyybe I ll find something about Kaeya's sexy pirate grandpa
Remember how back in 2.8 Amy’s Immernachtreich was literally a kingdom made of her daydreams with its own unique culture and history ? ( yeah sure it wasn’t completely original bc of the Flowers for Princess Fischl rp but stick with me ), well, on gaa it manifested as a mirage, and mirages aren’t real but they’re still visible, well if we’re rolling with the idea that teyvat is some sort of dream, the fact that the Immernachtreich was made of Amy’s daydreams and became this weird illusion that somewhere between being real or not, makes me wonder if the real Fischl is the one who dreamed/imagined teyvat into existence, not sure how this can work with the Fischl is Khaenri’ahn theory bc that kinda seems more plausible than my theory but there is something here I can feel it So glad you mentioned Vera’s melancholy tho !! One of my fav books in game bc of how mysterious it seems, both Vera’s Melancholy and the crumbs we have of Flowers for Princess Fischl give me similar vibes so I often think about them along the same lines together, sometimes I wonder if Mr Nine also wrote Vera’s Melancholy and put another version of Fischl in it the same way he did with The Shattered Halberd and Flowers for Princess Fischl, maybe it’s Vera, maybe it’s the Princess, or maybe he split Fischl’s character in two and both Vera and the Princess are half Fischl, I don’t know really but I think there’s a connection here
Simple wooooow!!! 1st time in tour channel and You got me...Really love tour story telling and how. Tu connect the dots... Wow... Thank You for this, unespected, lore drop...keep doing it you're just AWESOME
3:28 fischl lore mentioned 💯💯 Edit: personally, I wouldn't mind if genshin did the "it was all a dream" trope. If it's well done then it's well done 🤷♀️
On the subject of someone dreaming. The most recent limited time event, Chromatic Ode of Candies and Roses, had a line from Nahida saying: "I was just wondering... if this whole thing might be a dream..." Obviously, Paimon and Traveler write it off, but I can't help but side-eye that line given what's been implied about Teyvat since Sumeru (or maybe before?). Also, this is probably nothing, but have you noticed how the album art on Genshin's OST (with Siblings and Paimon) lately look more and more like Paimon is asleep and Wishing for the Traveler? Idk if I'm reading too much into the album art, but it makes my spidey senses tingle. I *SQUINT.*
as soon as I saw the dust of Azoth, I immediately knew where alchemy was going in genshin's world. I'm really hoping that the traveler ends up being something crazy like the secret manifestation of Azathoth's dormant consciousness and they're completely unaware.
Amazing video as always! Half way through the video I was like “oooo I want to tell her about the gods of pegana” but then you mentioned it! (also extra excited bc I ordered the book a few days ago and it arrives tomorrow on Halloween 😂)
That dreamscape and story book theory is intriguing because y'all remember how memories and existence in Teyvat can be altered? That we already witnessed the erasure of some people from memories, or that fabricated memories can be interested to the mind of people?
Regarding the ability to turn thoughts into form: I absolutely think that Alice is another big piece of the puzzle. Literally her name already, Asian media loves using Alice in Wonderland. We still have to meet the witches and they could be anything at this point. She's also the one sending us to these weird whacky dreamscapes given forms by our friends on every summer event, Fischl's was the most obvious one. I'll bet a dollar on her dropping a red pill exposition at the end of Snezhnaya
The bit about the editor begging the author to come back and finish the book series sounds a lot like real life Douglas Adams with the Hitchhiker's Guide series
The face the traveler makes when they saw the firmament being shattered i think shows that they know a LOT more than they are letting on. Just an observation someone brought to me, wanted to share
The sky is also seen being cracked in that one quest with the Melusine where you go into the book and see a vision of what would happen to Teyvat if the abyss takes over.
Got three things on my mind when I saw that dark red portion of the real sky. 1/2 Lunar palace debris that should be mixed up with a bit of moon sister bits. (Could the corpse of the remaining moon sister used to project the false sky as mentioned in legend only one stands, its dead body? How is that related to the whole primordial nibelung wars and descenders and gnosis, mineral where elements come from, and why the hell the sinners only got world shattering powers and just bailed on kahenriah?!?! Video on those please!!) **sorry for being all over the place that last one** 3. The same reddish sky like the night of the cataclysm in the travelers memories. If so would be just a cataclysm reference 😅. But hoping its more of the former. Would be nice having more on that.
17:12 That is a common misconception. Azatoth does NOT dream reality. That rumor somehow made its way into the community from a completely different mythos.
10:00 ish i love the music but recently decided to turn it off so i wouldn't overplay it. Huge recommendation to try this there are lots of interesting environmental sounds all throughout the game, i really slept on it. From now on i only use music during quests or the odd moment out where it would be nice
Ok so that lovecraftian being you mention, the first one related to abyss thing in the sky in Natlan (im not even gonna try to spell it lol), actually exists in the hoyoverse. Shes like super overpowered, to the point where its silly in a bad way and i dont remember too well but im pretty sure she has control over everything, she shows up in the first honkai game, the one before honkai impact the 3rd (forgot the name), just wanted to mention it since its not in the vid and a lot of ppl actually dont know this haha
in the cutscene of the most recent nahida birthday event the traveller even straight up asked what if this is all just a dream. i think hoyo are setting up some foreshadowing
I've watched a lot of Genshin lore videos, but I think I love this one the most. I never read the in-game books (because I play too many games), but I'm a fan of both Lovecraft and anime older than than the age of the average Genshin player. I never knew about the game's Lovecraftian nods. Thank you! Plus even if the Lovecraft inspiration was only minor, any super weeb reference like Haruhi is 1000% intentional -- this is a company that references Hatsune Miku in its name. The first real "Honkai" game, Gun Girls Z, was directly inspired by High School of the Dead. If you know about the Honkai Impact 3rd lore, the big big picture of Teyvat could easily be explained -- but the fun is in the details, right? Especially from the perspective of someone living in Teyvat. Though discovering that you live in a Simulated Universe with a false sky doesn't actually change anything in your day to day life, after all... What I find funny is that Mihoyo, in its first and only foray into open world games, created a closed world. :3
I've just realized... This reminds me of Klonoa, both are beings from another planet/world, having implanted fake memories for a greater motive (that is, saving this "dream world"), except with the traveler its closer to Klonoa 2. Klonoa knows this is not his world but still goes on an adventure, discovering more and more about this current world etc Klonoa x Genshin collab confirmed
I can't wait to see what ends up being beyond the False Sky. I was so shocked when it happened during the Archon Quest and then for them to just barely reference at the end with the Mavuika dialogue. Do you think the next part of the Archon Quest will have anything to do with it? Or its something they might save for later and this was just a little tease?
Hello my friend.... The concept of Haruhi and Azatoth seems kinda same in reference to the Gnostic world creation myth.... And i believe both Genshin and Honkai imapct are heavily influenced by Gnostism... (Evangelion is also influenced by it) If im not mistaken... Gnostism talks about a demiurge (false god of creation) who creates archons to trap human souls from rejoing back to the main soul/ consciousness of Godess Sophia ? (If im not mistaken) Who is in fact the real god of creation. And everything and every being in the universe is a fragment of her consciousness experiencing life as itself
Conclusion: every single genshin theory crafter is going insane after the 5.1 archon quest
I was just saying that to a friend. Clearly the reason why it's taking so long for everyone to post is because their heads exploded
Surely it is the work of the Outer Gods noticing them! = w= It's like being looked at by an Aeon in HSR only by on Outer God instead!
true that
Always have been
Can you blame them? If you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back.
… I’m simply referring to the phrase, not the Abyss we fight in the game …
I'm telling you, one of these days this False Sky will break for good and something very VERY bad will come from the other side, then we will have no choice but to awaken the Heavenly Principles.
the more I think about this the more I wanna see it happen!!
I hate the "it was all a dream" trope BUT I feel like "it was all a dream" is VERY different from "you exist in a dream"
In one, you wake up. In the other, you are the dream. That's some crazy levels of existential dread.
a very good distinction, yes!
@@demonic_banshee those "Scara Haters" are actually The die hard Scaramouch fans, as a matter of fact they HATE Wanderer because Hoyo made Scaramouch have a "Redemption" arc and they rather want him to be a bad guy.

dust of azoth and dream solvents having the same role but for higher rarity materials feels like it could also be a connector in this line of thinking~
OMG TRUE
You know what is also deep red colored and glitchy... Perrie the harbinger
also it would be interesting if the teyvat we know is a dream from the heavenly principles and the real teyvat is just a desolate planet that resulted from the war with Nibelung just imagine we awake the heavenly principles at the end and just in a wink we are standing in an empty rock staring at the red space
Dark Souls 3 Ringed City ahh ending
@@shakkoryu ringed city ending did give us slave knight gael so i'd say it's worth it
hold on doesn't the perinheri story mention how he goes into the corridor, seeing a crimson moon, then leaving? could this be someone trying to leave the firmament and coming back?
@@shakkoryu just say ass oh my fucking god
Peruere's entire character is basically a foreshadowing of themes and things happening in Natlan kek
"purgatory flames", some ghosts coming out as snapshots of time(similar to Clorinde quest), red glitching exactly like sky beyond the firmament, existing between life and death(two worlds) e.t.c
i think all of this hints at grander connection between Ronova and Crimson Moon if anything
Tbh from the very first moment I saw the true red sky I had a thought that the whole world where Teyvat is placed in got conquered by Abyss, and the firmament keeps Abyss from entering Teyvat.
Also wow, I never thought about connecting Vera's Melancholy to the lore this way, props to you.
so fun fact, fighting all the riftwolves on elynas's surface grants you the achievement "Angle Eraser", a reference to a man who rounded out all the corners of his house to hide from the Hounds of Tindalos, as they were rumored to "live within the corners of the universe, while humans lived in the curves of the universe"
ashikai told me so :3 its innn one of her recent videos lemme find it
this suddenly reminded me of a fanfic I read years ago where the twist in the end was that all of the events of genshin are paimon's dream and the real teyvat is already destroyed, and she's reliving its destruction over and over again in her dream, constantly trying to find a way to save it. the traveler is a figment of her mind that she invented to not feel so lonely anymore, which is why she's constantly emphasizing how she's their most important travel companion, and through the traveler she is also trying to change events that she could not change herself. now I don't think this is the actual genshin ending but it's pretty interesting to think about in connection with your suzumiya haruhi theories lol. especially the connection between holy blades and the power of imagination, perhaps the traveler/descenders are so powerful because they are a figment of someone else's imagination and therefore are not subject to the rules of the world or "fate". like maybe they're literally someone's mary sue oc where the original person felt powerless to change the fate of teyvat, but through a dream they can imagine this all powerful isekai hero changing the fate of the world. maybe we're just the primordial one's mary sue oc lmao.
holy cannoli, please tell me where i can find this fic! :0 If u remember, that is
What was this fic? Give us the link or the title at least please ! 😭
We will defy this world with a power from beyond." - Dainsleif - Travail
I will always come back to this quote, because I do believe Dain is directly stating the plot of the game here.
We're going to get a super cool cutscene showing the reactions of people from every nation as they watch the sky crumble. It's going to be amazing.
Yanno it's starting to look less like Celestia is sleeping and more like there's no one up there alive anymore
I just checked the Star rail wiki
Still couldn't believe that was a thing
@shanedoesyoutube8001 they got us good right from the get go lmao
@@koratora2468 I noticed it too. There are also many others thing related to teyvat in honkai 3. Sumeru is a domain, Fislch come from beyond the skies, and Abyss monsters are similar to monsters from the sea of quanta.
Genshin is closer and closer to something new, only 1 region left, and I think the story will be continued in star rail.
@@HonkaiBaneI hope not, I want Genshin to develop its own identity like how Warhammer fantasy is completely different from Warhammer 40k despite being in the same Multiverse.
God, I fanboyed when I realized the Haruhi reference. Excellent work as always, Rooze.

Kind of reminds me of the endless 8 in Haruhi now that I think about it.
alot of things are really starting to make sense after 5.1 and I'm looking forward to seeing ya'll put those pieces together.
tech otaku save the world
simulanka shows us that "fictional beings" can "escape" to "the real world". i believe that's what the whitches did, but also maybe the sinners are trying to do that? i haven't consolidated my thoughts on this, but i feel someone should touch that detail simulanka gave us.
Speaks about "Dreams" coming to reality, speaks about "Solvent"....
Forgot to mention Dream Solvent lmao
Good video btw, its just that my brain was screaming that.
How is Natlan mini Teyvat?
The whole Sumeru samsara archon quest part felt very reminiscent of the Endless Summer episode from Haruhi already - I would really not be surprised
OH SHIT
I interpreted "forbidden knowledge" as knowledge that contradicts what is written into immersul. like the existence of rhukavata
You talk about the blind dreamer, you show Fischl, and you don't go there??? I'm so glad you've dreamed big in this one, the dream lives on. Love your work.
tbh would need a separate video because I go so ham with fischl
To address your last point, I think that if all of the people of Teyvat are real but the world they share is a dream, the things that make the "it was all a dream" trope bad don't apply. The experiences and relationships would still be real so long as they are remembered.
💯
I would like to point out that Lovecraft NEVER stated that Azathoth dreamed reality, this was a thing added by later writers prob influenced by Gods of pagana, the original mythos and what has become after so many writers are very different, not even the term outer God was used
15:50 venti quest and imaginary friends.
OMG I FORGOT ABOUT THAT
One day, the whole dome will break and we'll see a cutscene of the whole Teyvat's reaction.
Long comment ahead
Enka book Vol 3: about The Serpent's Heart
From the first time our ancestors discovered this place, it had already played host to a unique phenomenon in which space itself might overlap in a certain locale. Later, those who came before us would utilize this phenomenon by creating the Serpent's Heart. It would be used to guard secrets, imprison criminals, and worship the great imaginary serpent, Ouroboros. In the earliest times, this place was called Delphi, the land of snakes.
AND from a bit of dialogue in the Serpent and Drake quest (shout out to your first appearance, Enjou, our pookie)
Aru: The Serpent's Heart is home to an altar that is considered the heart of the Cosmic Serpent.
And that's how Enkanomiya "fell down."
Maybe the heart of the cosmic serpent (human dna?? the genesis pearl?? something new??? ) is the base layer of Teyvat that points to why Teyvat exists. After all, Delphi is where the main human characters in VM are from before they go in their space adventures.
I know this wasn't the point of the video. I guess 15:05 is me too 🦊🍷
22:25 in this event, nahida asks the traveler “what if this all is just a dream” at the end of the event.. I found it interesting and didn’t see anyone else mentioning it so decided to say it here since it was brought up
I am always ready for some Lovecraftian horrors, oh yes
What if the dream of the Elder God is Teyvat itself, and when it wakes up, it will see that eveything it imagined became reality or fought to became reality beyond its dream? I wonder how it will react when it have to face its "creation".
THE THING MENTIONED THANK YOU I KNEW YOU HAD GOOD TASTE

I REMEMBER BRINGING UP HARUHI SUZUMIYA ON YOUR VIDEO DISCUSSING VERAS MELANCHOLY.
I LOVE Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. One of my top 10 animes. So I love that you acknowledge it here. There's definitely a LOT of similarities. Not a one for one but pretty damn close!!! Also, her name is more pronounced Hah-roo-hee. Not Haroo-hee. In case you weren't sure.
The destroyed planet may be the original home world of the Primordial One or the Twins, or both.
Imagine if at the end of genshin, we get connected to the star rail system.

9:21 DONT THINK WE DIDNT NOTICE THAT ANNOYING DOG (i love seeing Undertale sprites in the wild lmao)
Roozevelt- your videos, especially lately, have been the perfect blend of humor and analysis. Be proud of your work!
so... some thoughts that came to mind:
1. its curious to me that azazoth is known as the "primordial demiurge" in lovecraftian myths, cuz as we know, genshin has a lot of gnosticism in it, n it just happens that in gnosticism the demiurge is often attributed with the role of the "creator of the universe and lesser gods", a role in genshin which has been attributed to the primordial one n i cant help but wonder if somehow, the primordial one is connected to azazoth.
2. the whole deal with tyevat potentially being a dream of a higher entity reminds me of hi3's kevin's plan. the tl;dr of it was "bro wanted to evolve the human race to a stage where they were able to deal with honkai, but everyone that was not able to evolve ended up in a comatose state n in a "shared dream". in hi3, the main cast goes n defeat kevin n this plan doesnt succeed. but i wonder if tyevat is not a result of a somewhat similar plan, by either the primordial one, or even an older entity.
3. in light of this previous point n the dream theory, dainsleif words in the travail video, take a whole new meaning.
Considering HSR x hi3rd collab and now 5.1 all of them being in pretty much save time frame happening they might be cooking hard something with all of this
Imagine mega crossover event happening in the future after this unfolds all the way

Baby Rooze was onto something when she made that video about veras melancholy way back when... amazing video!!
Now THIS is a theory I can get behind. Nice job once again Rooze!
I’ve been looking forward to your video on the fake sky!
It's ok Roozevelt, from the beginning of the game (until now I'm holding on by a thread here) I'm a firm believer that the entirety of the game is loosely based on Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles. Lol. Why else does the Abyss sibling have a data in Irminsul unless they're not the real one.🤭
what if the entire teyvat is just a storybook for klee made by alice :))
"Ann: This is the center of the world. The castle where the dragon lurks, the tower that imprisons the Princess. Sometimes, it is the lost Ancient City of Yith. Sometimes, Arcadia. At times, it is even golden Hyperborea."
In the novel:
"MC discovers that the Yithians on Earth died out eons ago (their civilization destroyed by a rival, utterly alien pre-human race described as "half-polypous" creatures) but the Yithian minds will inhabit new bodies on Earth after humanity is long gone. His tenuously held sanity is challenged when he discovers the proof he seeks-and that not only do remains of the Yithians' past civilization still exist on Earth; but also still remaining are those who destroyed them. It is also mentioned that the current appearance of the Yithians is not the original; but one acquired during a previous mass-projection of the minds of their race when disaster beckoned, leaving the original inhabitants to die in the bodies of the Yithians." - thx wiki
This does kinda make me wonder, if this can be connected to how Elynas describes his birth:
"Elynas: Before I was born, I floated in the cosmic darkness. It was cold there, and lonely. I was so sad, then, and I would often cry.
Elynas: But later, I heard Mother's voice.
Elynas: She wished for me to be born into a beautiful world, to give me life, to give me a strong and healthy body that could walk the world, to grant me a beautiful name."
Also, another interesting thing is that Hyperborea mentioned alongside Yith is also kinda, tentatively connected to Azathoth.
Considering Hyperborea was also mentioned in Ballad of the Fjords description that seems to talk about Snezhnaya's legend, i wonder if there's more for Snezhnaya and abyss connection that we don't know of yet.
thank you for your essay it was nice to read :)

Saw that you were in the midst of cooking on Ashikai's 5.1 discussion stream and I am here to say I am pleasantly pleased
Remember how back in 2.8 Amy’s Immernachtreich was literally a kingdom made of her daydreams with its own unique culture and history ? ( yeah sure it wasn’t completely original bc of the Flowers for Princess Fischl rp but stick with me ), well, on gaa it manifested as a mirage, and mirages aren’t real but they’re still visible, well if we’re rolling with the idea that teyvat is some sort of dream, the fact that the Immernachtreich was made of Amy’s daydreams and became this weird illusion that somewhere between being real or not, makes me wonder if the real Fischl is the one who dreamed/imagined teyvat into existence, not sure how this can work with the Fischl is Khaenri’ahn theory bc that kinda seems more plausible than my theory but there is something here I can feel it
So glad you mentioned Vera’s melancholy tho !! One of my fav books in game bc of how mysterious it seems, both Vera’s Melancholy and the crumbs we have of Flowers for Princess Fischl give me similar vibes so I often think about them along the same lines together, sometimes I wonder if Mr Nine also wrote Vera’s Melancholy and put another version of Fischl in it the same way he did with The Shattered Halberd and Flowers for Princess Fischl, maybe it’s Vera, maybe it’s the Princess, or maybe he split Fischl’s character in two and both Vera and the Princess are half Fischl, I don’t know really but I think there’s a connection here
2:32 CHAT IS THIS ME? Holy shit I seriously thought I was the only one who thought this LOOOL.
Simple wooooow!!! 1st time in tour channel and You got me...Really love tour story telling and how. Tu connect the dots... Wow... Thank You for this, unespected, lore drop...keep doing it you're just AWESOME
3:28 fischl lore mentioned 💯💯
Edit: personally, I wouldn't mind if genshin did the "it was all a dream" trope.
I *SQUINT.*
The 5.1 AQ really awakened Honkai Impact/Houkai Gakuen (or HonkaiVerse) fans, Lovecraftian fans and theorists.
as soon as I saw the dust of Azoth, I immediately knew where alchemy was going in genshin's world.
Bruh I haven't watched The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya but the song God Knows goes hard
the moon sister bit making me pavlov to the scroll of streaming song puzzle
Another banger. Thanks for the vid!
The bit about the editor begging the author to come back and finish the book series sounds a lot like real life Douglas Adams with the Hitchhiker's Guide series
It would certainly give a new meaning to Kaeya calling the god who chose their fate as "inept"
The face the traveler makes when they saw the firmament being shattered i think shows that they know a LOT more than they are letting on. Just an observation someone brought to me, wanted to share
The sky is also seen being cracked in that one quest with the Melusine where you go into the book and see a vision of what would happen to Teyvat if the abyss takes over.
every archon quest we are getting close to possible reveal of Teyvat being a bubble universe swallowed by Sea of Quanta.
Video on those please!!) **sorry for being all over the place that last one**
10000% this, I do the same thing often!!! they have some REALLY interesting/spooky/neat/atmospheric/etc sound design
Finaly i was waiting for this video 🤯
Ok so that lovecraftian being you mention, the first one related to abyss thing in the sky in Natlan (im not even gonna try to spell it lol), actually exists in the hoyoverse. Shes like super overpowered, to the point where its silly in a bad way and i dont remember too well but im pretty sure she has control over everything, she shows up in the first honkai game, the one before honkai impact the 3rd (forgot the name), just wanted to mention it since its not in the vid and a lot of ppl actually dont know this haha
Corners of fake sky reminded me of susty cubes...
Also, now i want to watch that anime *added to watch list*
in the cutscene of the most recent nahida birthday event the traveller even straight up asked what if this is all just a dream. i think hoyo are setting up some foreshadowing
Finaly first omg, i love your videos❤
I've just realized... This reminds me of Klonoa, both are beings from another planet/world, having implanted fake memories for a greater motive (that is, saving this "dream world"), except with the traveler its closer to Klonoa 2. Klonoa knows this is not his world but still goes on an adventure, discovering more and more about this current world etc
Klonoa x Genshin collab confirmed
In a previous game of hoyo there is a character that's name is literally yog zethoth, and shes mindnumbingly op
Nice video roosevelt cwnt wait to see how the story go
Shook to see melancholy of haruhi suzumiya being relevant 😮
