i love tears of themis! its my favourite to play on mobile because it still has cool mechanics and what not. yes, its based mostly around dating etc but the story is great
Thank you for giving Honkai Impact 3rd a chance!!!!! It’s really hard to get new players nowadays, much less keep them (my opinion, don’t attack me fellow HI3 players), so whenever someone is like, “yo, I really like this!!!!” it fills me with immense joy. While I don’t blame new players for dropping the game after being bombarded with outdated systems (even after UI updates and QOL changes) and 7-8 years worth of content, it’s nice to hear from newbies who decided to stick around. :) Little ramble incoming… Sometimes, I feel like a little old grandma within Hoyo’s community because HI3 was my first Hoyo game way back in 2018/2019 when it released globally, aka when Hoyoverse was still Mihoyo. So as time goes on and more and more games get released by them, it’s times like these where I’m reminded why I started HI3 in the first place and followed Hoyo ever since. Your experience with it really resonated with me. Honestly, I wish I could find the video that was sponsored by it and thank them for introducing me to such an amazing game because I don’t think I’d be the same person without it. That’s how much it has had an impact on me. I love it with every fiber in my body, flaws and all. Oh, and this is my Hoyo journey so far for funsies: Honkai Impact 3rd -> Genshin Impact -> Tears of Themis (its anniversary is my birthday, July 30th! #StanVyn) -> Honkai: Star Rail -> Zenless Zone Zero. If Gunz Girls Z still had a global version available, I’d play it too. Anywayssssss, amazing video and even more amazing commentary that I can 100% relate to. Keep up the great work!!! I’m excited to hear about your more in-depth experiences with each game. :D
AWWWW this made my day to read - thank you so much! It is so wonderful to hear how much HI3 means to people, and I TOTALLY GET WHY! Would have been incredible to go on the journey with the game from the beginning and it makes me so happy that it has meant so much to you. So thank YOU for sharing some of your passion for the game here
@sassqueenamy You’re welcome!!! I’m always more than happy to ramble about it to others, and it honestly sucks that it gets so much flack from other people within the Hoyo community. It makes me so sad! I’m not sure if you’ve witnessed that side of the Hoyo community, but I see it a lot as a HI3 veteran from people who don’t even play it. Like, just because it’s an older game with a lot of stuff to sift through doesn’t mean it’s bad! Yeah, it may not be as popular as Genshin or HSR, but it’s still amazing in its own right! Honestly, I could go on and on about how groundbreaking it was for the time and why it resulted in the games we know and love today from Hoyo, but I won’t because I don’t want my comment to get longer than it already is. Maybe I should make a video about it someday, who knows, but I’m sure you can find something similar on UA-cam or elsewhere about it because it’s a very interesting topic. But I will say one thing, though: Without Gun Girlz Z, which pre-dates HI3, I believe Hoyo would’ve gone bankrupt because one of the games they released before it was a colossal failure. It got them out of a life-or-death situation, basically. Then came along HI3, which pretty much put them on the map within the gaming-sphere, until eventually Genshin rolled along and finally pushed them into mainstream media. I still remember the pre-Genshin era of Hoyo, and they were a relatively small brand back then. Not super small, but definitely not the behemoth of a company they are now. Let’s just say that you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone outside of China who knew of their existence, or at least that was my experience. Haha, there’s a mini history lesson for you, if you weren’t already aware! Moreover, as a veteran player, I pretty much grew up with the game. I wasn’t incredibly young by any means when it first came out (2018-ish globally [when I started playing] and 2016 for CN), but I was in a stage of my life where I was slowly moving on from games I used to play as a kid (like Animal Jam) and I wanted something to satisfy my older self (aside from games like Minecraft, Roblox, etc because I never grew out of them). So, since I loved anime (and still do), I saw HI3 advertised during a UA-cam video, and it was pretty much love at first sight. I knew I had to play it. It was a clip of Kiana’s White Comet battlesuit fighting and kicking enemies in one of the early story stages, I believe, amongst other things. But something about the way it was advertised and explained had me very interested from the start. It has definitely been a wild ride, that’s for sure!!!!! Additionally, on a more personal note, this game’s abundance of queer themes and representation of sapphic relationships has helped me with my own sexuality and gender, too. I always knew I was bisexual, but to see a game be so unapologetic with its queerness… I was like, “I can do that too?” Even the manga surrounding the game is fruity, and so is GGZ! All of it is! While yeah, it could be argued that some of that could be attributed to male fantasies, and I get that, but I’m sure not all of it was. Even then, sapphic media is rare, so I’ll take what I can get! Besides, I don’t want to ignore the women who worked on the game as well. It’s so, so incredibly freeing to see queer themes explored in an anime game to the level they are, even if it isn’t always 100% obvious. Pretty groundbreaking stuff, which unfortunately got them into trouble sometimes because of censorship. Not fun!!! Makes me wonder why they toned it down in recent years with their newer games, but it’s probably for a similar reason. Subtext is everything these days, it seems. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it makes it difficult when someone says, “errrrmm actually, hoyo wouldn’t make a character gay because… ☝️🤓” because you can’t just show them a manga panel of Bronya and Seele kissing anymore and be done with it lmao. You kinda have to know what to look for. Anyways, yeah!!!!! This comment got a bit long, but that’s okay. Thank you for providing a space for likeminded people to ramble and share their experiences. Have an amazing day and keep on gaming, Captain/Traveler/Trailblazer/Proxy! ❤️💕
Fun fact: a while back Honkai Impact 3rd had a crossover event with Genshin, and it was wild. This is why Fischl is in the game. There are other remnants of it too - one arena is a grassy field with Mondstadt city in the background, and one of the weekly bosses is Andrius. I still have the emblem from the event. If it's equipped Paimon would randomly pop up from time to time and say something. At one point the emblem glicthed out and caused Paimon to repeat the same phrase non stop over and over and over and over again. Fun times!
@@sassqueenamy Speaking of silly bugs. In one version Griseo was glicthed. She was stuck in the ground up to her waist A-posing in every cutscene she was in. Sometimes she would pop out for a second and sink back in immediately. I think they referenced it in Penacony in Honkai Star Rail in the model city with glitched NPCs. One of them is A-posing while stuck in the pavement just like Griseo was.
Maybe try playing tears of themis next, the story is surprisingly compelling and they have hoyoverse easter eggs. Also I'm excited for the flame-chasers to be in hsr
That’s actually wild how I went on a very similar journey with hoyo games. I started with star rail in Aug 2023, then went into Genshin, I did WuWa instead of Honkai Impact, then ended up at ZZZ. I was too intimidated by Impact’s UI, lack of dub and so much content (Genshin was such a big catch up for me). I can tell you’re a story enjoyer so I’m interested in which is your favourite story so far. Personally, Fontaine (from Genshin) was my favourite, followed by Belobog (HSR), but I’ve been enjoying the ZZZ story sections too as they have the best pacing out of the Hoyo games imo.
So cool to see your experience! The lack of dub made HI3 hard for me at first, but have slowly gotten used to it haha! I just have to play when I am in the mood to reallllly pay attention lol. Fontaine for me as well is top tier - Masquerade of the Guilty key art is my phone wall paper. Everything about the arc, the dance at the end, Amber Lee Connors performance, all of it is absolute cinema to me! Elysian realm in Impact 3rd is probably second.
same, if anyone is interested, based on my experience this is how i would rank the games: 1 zenless zone zero (interknot level 43 atm) -interesting from start to end -beautiful animations, smooth playstyle -english voice acting feels very natural and not awkward -daylies are super fast -a skip button exists but -dialogue is actually interesting, i never had the urge to skip anything (coming from an impatient dialogue skipper) -doesnt feel childish in any way -even npcs look extremely stylish and cool -music is so lit!! -you can literally enjoy everything in this game, even side quests can be exciting -you get to play every 5 star at some point in the main story which feels super awesome -the mc characters are always around each other and both have different personalities which feels great -choosing dialogue options feels like it makes a difference on how the other characters react 2 genshin (adventure rank 58 atm) -i might be biased for this one cause i have played it since 1.1 cause there are a lot of downsides -you have to put in a lot of time and effort to get primogems (wish currency to get characters) :( -have to skip a lot of dialogue cause many side quests are really boring and its just too much :( -no skip button :( -paimon, your travel buddy is yapping way too much and often adds comments that are not useful at all or will explain stuff to you that are self explanatory so she can be really annoying D: -we are mostly just spectating and dialogue options arent really options, they feel unnecessary -not a lot to do when you explored everything and dont have many quests anymore (but as a new player theres a lot of catching up to do) -english voice acting sometimes feels weird for me (especially paimons high pitched voice) so i am playing with japanese dub, thats personal preference tho -story can be really good but often hard to swallow or follow with complex words and phrases especially in side quests -open world exploration -you have a lot of team combination possibilities and can get creative (if youre lucky to get a lot of characters) -elemental reactions :D -you can clear end content with almost any character you like (with synergistic teams around them ofc) if you invest enough time in building them -characters are always well thought out, very cool designs and background stories -music and scenery in every region has always been super awesome 3 honkai impact 3rd (i have no idea how far i have come) -i cant say too much about that game cause i havent really played it for too long and dont remember much but -absolutely love the designs and the ads with those awesome cutscenes always made me want to download and start it -as much as i can remember, my impressions of it were mainly good even tho the ui was confusing but i dropped it because i didnt have much time and then i just never came back to it -combat was pretty cool 4 star rail (trailblaze level 33) -the trailers finally convinced me to play, i saw rappa and heard reol and that was it, i had to start -it was a very rough and slow start (this is why its ranked lower than honkai impact 3rd) -sadly the story didnt really catch me so i found myself skipping or just flying through dialogue to only get a grasp of what is happening -exploring may feel lackluster because you cant jump or do much so the combat should make up for it but -if you have bad luck and just get single target characters, the combat might be extremely boring and annoying -the game treats their community way better and you get a lot of characters for free so later on it feels better -most dialogue feels insignificant -also feels childish sometimes, especially the mascot character marth 7th -you can let the game play for you in autoplay (good for farming and doing something else irl) -the mc text options feel very rude and out of place -mc talking animations for those comments are weirdly long -we get text messages from characters and they are mostly either weird or random and the messages take too long for me -powercreep in this game is supposedly extremely bad and many people say that you cant clear endgame content with former top teams, you constantly have to keep up with the everchanging meta (but maybe its just like in genshin where you can still clear endgame if you invest enough into your non meta or former meta teams) does anyone have the same thoughts of these games as me? did i forget some pros and cons? :D
There is just something about Hoyo games that's consumed my life in a way no other game has. They fascinate me because they at the same time have the best and the worst things I've seen in the medium. Genshin has, in my opinion, undoubtedly the best and most impressive story out of any video game on a macro level. But it also commits crimes against storytelling (the timed events) that should genuinely be illegal. Star Rail's story is a mess but it's so ambitious and high-concept that it's fascinating to watch even as it crashes and burns. Honkai is a combination of the 2, it's amateurish but has so much heart and, as you've said, I will never forget Elysia. ZZZ went all out on style and isn't that great at substance, but it sure is stylish. I can't help but find it fun to compare these games in every category. Like how Star Rail's character designs are so superior to the others while its gameplay is abysmal. Like how Genshin's exploration is unparalleled but its game design is outdated. Like how much better ZZZ's animations are, or how different its gameplay is. How Genshin's artstyle and music still mogs everything even 4 years later, and how Star Rail's trailers are the industry's best. I just can't stop thinking about these chinese gacha game, dammit. I even went on to play Wuthering Waves and Epic Seven and could write essays on those too. Such a weird genre.
This is SUCH a great breakdown and one I agree with on most counts! Star Rail is DEFS in a weird space and I really don't know how I feel about it story wise at the moment. And YES to the timed events hiding story details in Genshin - big bad/sad in my book too. Defs a strange genre though, I vibe with that hahahah!
I'm glad you actually played HI3rd, went through the story, and found out the biggest reasons why people truly love it, the incredibly rewarding story and characters. Theres so much hate for the game for some odd reason, just because its older, or ppl just don't like yuri (tho its actually just yuribait), or just because some dumbass CCs who misleadingly crap on the game based on content from 2018 that they played 3 years ago or sth despite never playing anything past said 2018 content (if you know, you know). I started with GGZ, and while i play all the globally available games except ToT, HI3rd is definitely my favourite by far. The characters are just written so well, grow, and have such a good path through the story. Not to mention the music. Da Capo is by far my fav hoyo song with TRuE in 2nd.
It's a great story and I am really glad I committed to seeing it through to understand it better. Omigosh another GGZ player - so cool to see how far the games have come.
Ye Genshin has been the only one I play, but I'll watch videos on the other ones cause they seem neat. I've been curious about trying ZZZ but I don't know if I have the time for it
That's a great way to do it! ZZZ is great and in my own opinion, I think has the most casual friendly experience where you can bounce in and out as you feel. But that's just me haha!
i think you gotta try zzz cause it will me the least time consuming out of all hoyo games, daylies are soo fast!! totally worth it, i fell in love and never felt the urge to skip dialogue even tho there is a skip button
i did play genshin and star rail on their initial releases but didn't got hooked, and then i discovered zzz which is currently my favorite hoyo game, after finishing most of the content zzz has to offer, i returned to genshin and star rail and i also got hooked.... gacha hell indeed..
I'm curious on your thoughts about game remakes/remasters, recently MySims Cozy Bundle (which is a combo of MySims and MySims Kingdom) came out on Switch and soon Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1&2 Remastered will be out on Steam. Do you know those games? If not, does this interest you? Also what game would you like remade for modern PC/consoles? I want very old games to be remade like Dynamite Dan (ZX Spectrum) by Rod Bowkett and Rascal (PS1) by Traveller's Tales. Mostly because I'm interested what an modern look to these games would be like.
I was a HUGE MySims fan back in the day, so I am pretty keen for a re-release as the Switch feels like a great console for them to get more love! I'm not as familiar with the other games you've mentioned - but the concept of a modern remake is something I keep thinking about as I'm playing through Dragon Age The Veilguard! Will need to think on that a little bit more! :)
I played Genshin a couple of years ago for a bit because it was beautiful and I loved BotW and it looked similar. It was fun but I had other games in my back catalogue to get through so I just moved on. Tried Star Rail but turn based combat just isn't my thing. Then I saw ZZZ was coming out, watched a video or 2 about it and it looked right up my street so I grabbed it on launch day and I can't put it down. All my other games are sitting there looking all forlorn at being ignored. 😂
Ahahhahaha that is SO cool that ZZZ is the one that grabbed you! There is so much in that game I really resonate with and it's an interesting one to breakdown. Happy to hear you enjoy it!
I Started playing Genshin during lockdown and then heard so much about Honkai impact I had to start it. Result? I stopped playing genshin and only played honkai impact lmao. After that got to know they're releasing hsr with the actual welt from hi3 in hsr so I had to play that and I love that game as well now
I honestly play only Genshin and HSR, really enjoy them both in terms of story and gameplay, so I can't say much about the other 2 games (I actually quit HI3 on the first day of playing cause of my loading time on my phone)
My order i played is very complex😂 HI3RD>GI>HI3RD>HSR>HI3RD>ZZZ>HSR.......In summary i play HSR 90% of the time because i love the story and i am invested in the trailblaze journey. HI3rd also has me coming back with many references in HSR from HI3rd so that always brings me back. ZZZ was cool and fun but i got burnt out so i stop naturally and genshin i fully quit
I wish I had advice ahahah! I find ZZZ easier to play less of, because it doesn't feel as harsh to not play. Star Rail is easy to let run on the phone while winding down of an evening. Genshin and Impact 3rd are defs the ones that need more time haha!
@@sassqueenamy its like they really cut time of dialogs and cutscenes in ZZZ but in genshin its the opposite so im, thinking to do just daily's for primos till the mauvika comes but for now im thinking to close the story gap in ZZZ as its new so it has less chapters that Genshin 😂😂😂😂
Me - Hey Amy checkout Star Rail it's cool. Amy - Nice, watch me 100% every Hoyo game now
I 100% blame you XD
@@alexberry8339 the power of dedication!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i love tears of themis! its my favourite to play on mobile because it still has cool mechanics and what not. yes, its based mostly around dating etc but the story is great
Nothing wrong with a cheeky dating sim! I am defs getting tempted it check it out now haha
Had almost the same journey as you Amy, and what a ride it has been. Hoyoverse games r really special

I started playing Genshin because of Xiao and Zhongli. GOOD HEAVENS THEY'RE JUST SO FINE!
And that is a very good reason indeed ahahaha
same, if anyone is interested, based on my experience this is how i would rank the games:
1 zenless zone zero (interknot level 43 atm)
-interesting from start to end
-beautiful animations, smooth playstyle
-english voice acting feels very natural and not awkward
-daylies are super fast
-a skip button exists but
-dialogue is actually interesting, i never had the urge to skip anything (coming from an impatient dialogue skipper)
-doesnt feel childish in any way
-even npcs look extremely stylish and cool
-music is so lit!!
-you can literally enjoy everything in this game, even side quests can be exciting
-you get to play every 5 star at some point in the main story which feels super awesome
-the mc characters are always around each other and both have different personalities which feels great
-choosing dialogue options feels like it makes a difference on how the other characters react
2 genshin (adventure rank 58 atm)
-i might be biased for this one cause i have played it since 1.1 cause there are a lot of downsides
-you have to put in a lot of time and effort to get primogems (wish currency to get characters) :(
-have to skip a lot of dialogue cause many side quests are really boring and its just too much :(
-no skip button :(
-paimon, your travel buddy is yapping way too much and often adds comments that are not useful at all or will explain stuff to you that are self explanatory so she can be really annoying D:
-we are mostly just spectating and dialogue options arent really options, they feel unnecessary
-not a lot to do when you explored everything and dont have many quests anymore (but as a new player theres a lot of catching up to do)
-english voice acting sometimes feels weird for me (especially paimons high pitched voice) so i am playing with japanese dub, thats personal preference tho
-story can be really good but often hard to swallow or follow with complex words and phrases especially in side quests
-open world exploration
-you have a lot of team combination possibilities and can get creative (if youre lucky to get a lot of characters)
-elemental reactions :D
-you can clear end content with almost any character you like (with synergistic teams around them ofc) if you invest enough time in building them
-characters are always well thought out, very cool designs and background stories
-music and scenery in every region has always been super awesome
3 honkai impact 3rd (i have no idea how far i have come)
-i cant say too much about that game cause i havent really played it for too long and dont remember much but
-absolutely love the designs and the ads with those awesome cutscenes always made me want to download and start it
-as much as i can remember, my impressions of it were mainly good even tho the ui was confusing but i dropped it because i didnt have much time and then i just never came back to it
-combat was pretty cool
4 star rail (trailblaze level 33)
-the trailers finally convinced me to play, i saw rappa and heard reol and that was it, i had to start
-it was a very rough and slow start (this is why its ranked lower than honkai impact 3rd)
-sadly the story didnt really catch me so i found myself skipping or just flying through dialogue to only get a grasp of what is happening
-exploring may feel lackluster because you cant jump or do much so the combat should make up for it but
-if you have bad luck and just get single target characters, the combat might be extremely boring and annoying
-the game treats their community way better and you get a lot of characters for free so later on it feels better
-most dialogue feels insignificant
-also feels childish sometimes, especially the mascot character marth 7th
-you can let the game play for you in autoplay (good for farming and doing something else irl)
-the mc text options feel very rude and out of place
-mc talking animations for those comments are weirdly long
-we get text messages from characters and they are mostly either weird or random and the messages take too long for me
-powercreep in this game is supposedly extremely bad and many people say that you cant clear endgame content with former top teams, you constantly have to keep up with the everchanging meta (but maybe its just like in genshin where you can still clear endgame if you invest enough into your non meta or former meta teams)
does anyone have the same thoughts of these games as me? did i forget some pros and cons? :D
You are pretty much the same with me 😂.
honkai impact 3rd has gotta be my favourite story-wise
Another great video Amy❤😄
Thank you so much!
@@sassqueenamy You're welcome Amy❤
It really is a never ending cycle once one of the clicks with you isn't it ahahaha!
@@sassqueenamy question, how long did it took for you to catch up to genshin and star rail?
good work catching up Captain, but remmember to rest sometimes🤣
@@vitorcacabelos1274 aye aye my fellow captain!
How i became a player of the big 4... lady how do you even time
I played Genshin a couple of years ago for a bit because it was beautiful and I loved BotW and it looked similar.
Hahahaha HI3 can be like that! Genshin and HSR are cooking right now too!
I only play Star Rail. I like the turn based gameplay. Having to fight enemies in real time stresses me out.
Also, the men Star Rail are hotter lol.
I only play Genshin(70%) and ZZZ(30%) because i like them most , and i kinda hate grind in every gacha game
My order i played is very complex😂
HI3RD>GI>HI3RD>HSR>HI3RD>ZZZ>HSR.......In summary i play HSR 90% of the time because i love the story and i am invested in the trailblaze journey. HI3rd also has me coming back with many references in HSR from HI3rd so that always brings me back. ZZZ was cool and fun but i got burnt out so i stop naturally and genshin i fully quit
amy i have a question like how do you managed 4 games as for me im finding it hard to play 2 please give me tips
@@sassqueenamy but yea hope you make guides in the future
GURL HOW MUCH STOARGE DO U HAVE IF U CAN HAVE 4 HYOY GAMES
@Brownieyummy12345 I wish I could laugh react a comment ahahahhahaha 😂
If there's room in my heart for hoyo, there is room on my hard drive 😂
