Thank you! Yes, the quest was so dark but apparently only for people who really understood what was happening. What really punches is realizing that the reason Mauvika had to die and come back once and wait for the rest of heroes is because Natlan needed that much tim eto build the nation back to a point where the people could have that much resolve again. They were so beaten down before with so few people left. That even if she had activated it back then. No one would have fought. They were too down trodden after so much loss. So wait until there was actually a home to fight for again and then give the people the ability to do that right up until they win. Just peak writing

And he was a more unique case, as he was essentially the abyss twin (the prince or princess)’s bodyguard. Capitano does not refer to Dain with any honorifics, so he was not below Dain’s level of respect in Khaenriah. And it makes sense that they wouldn’t have had a personal relationship, as they were people in charge of different sections of Khaenriah’s military forces. They would have known each other only in passing.
The thing with Capitano dying is very interesting: what will be the rule that takes affect on him? The rule of death which was designed by a Shade of the Primordial One or the Curse of Immortality which is said to take affect on a higher level of reality than the person suffering from it? Could it be that when Capitano inevitibly takes the hit for Mavuika the rule of death will cancel out the curse of Immortality, so that the Captain won‘t die but is freed from the curse? That way (and maybe with a little help from Dottore) he might be able to live his life and bring it to a normal end…
I find it interesting the way you go with Renova. From what i'm seeing, at least 3 of the 4 shades are proven disloyal to the heavenly principles. The shade of time became an object of worship in two different nations, including the thousand winds of Monstadt. And Venti describes himself as one of the thousand winds, in so almost confirming himself a fragment of the shade of time. The shade of life granted an archon the power to create new humans. And the shade of death admitted to granting power to a mortal she had no right to. It's almost like the shades are trying to fight the heavenly principles without exposing that they are.
It's not confirmed that the god in monstadt is the shade of time yet, I have a suspicion that the god in monstadt is the shade of death since anemo is sometimes linked with death.
No, it's istarot is the shade of time and was worshipped in Monstad before Venti an archon, but for egeria I did not see any reference that the shade of life granted her the ability to turn oceanids into humans, she did that on her own using the primordial sea from what I know.

I think the gnosis could still be key to the plan. The thing to keep in mind is what the Fatui is about: To embrace the virtue of folly. To give free reign and risk a conflict of interest ruining the plan would be foolish, that sounds completely fitting and it might be itself key to the plan.

We know this for a fact because the chinese version of the game has Perinheri’s gender set to be the opposite of the Traveler’s. Perinheri in the book becomes female if your traveler is male. And the only character in the game with a gender dependent on the traveler’s is the abyss twin. Thus, Perinheri is the abyss twin.

My theory coincides with the rumored Capitano death..which also coincides with the possible "trade" you mentioned I feel that Capitano is duty-bound to protect Natlan to the end. We also know that he is currently living for 500 years or more. I think the negotiation he struck with the Lord of the Night has something to do with Mavuika's plight and destined death for the use of Ronova's power. And as someone who was cursed by the curse of Immortality, undying yet still rotting inside, it's only fitting for Capitano to be given the etwrnal rest he so deservea. At least, with this trade, it's a win-win for everyone:, 1. Capitano pays Mavuika's debt to Ronova by taking the bullet for her. 2. Capitano saves Natlan in the process and Mavuika lives on while he gets the rest that he wanted

Maybe he is still willing to live on, why else would he serve the Tsaritsa? His whole Plan to Save natlan could have been executed without him being a Fatuus.
This was definitely my fav quest ever in Genshin and one of my fav quests ever in any game. The music definitely just made the whole thing come together, I dont think it would have been nearly as powerful without it. Also your sound quality with the new mic was great!

Natlan took serious damage from this fight and it didn't get erased with the Ode. It just let everyone who was left be enough to turn the tide. 😕. If they brought Chuychu back I would have been happy cuz i liked her but it also would have made her whole sacrifice creating the heroes meaningless, let alone everyone elses sacrifice. The part where we get to fly around on the balloon and the abyss has started to take over everywhere felt like total despair, so im glad we got to keep that feeling. It made Mavuika activating the Ode that much more powerful and meaingful, like their nation is destroyed if she cant do that. And the Ode working for the final part was perfect too because like you said, everyone was ready to fight to the death with their courage. Near the end when we kill those big abyssal tumors, one of the NPCs yells something like "Death is off the table, time to go all out!" And that felt so awesome to hear! Knowing you arent going to die in the fight is fantastic, but it will still hurt and to be brave enough to go through with that felt so cool as a player. Hoyo really painted a perfect story at the end there.
At the beginning of Fontaine, Paimon said (to Lynette): "are you saying that you and your brother lived in the water?". And the Traveller added: "Maybe they're mermaids or a fantastical race from fontaine." Before going to Natlan, Paimon asked: "could it be... that there are no humans in Natlan?" Now, i don't know if that's just cheeky foreshadowing or a hint to Paimons (regressed) omnipotent*** power or simply a misdirection from Hoyo. But seeing how differently the rules of Teyvat work on the Natlanese, the guess that they're not entirely human, is an easy one to make. Have dragons or vishaps been linked to resurrection at any point (or in history, myths or legends Hoyo could be referencing)? Because that would give us the missing link. The Pheonix immediately comes to mind and if you think aztec history, the Quetzalcoatl is kind of a mix of bird and snake (pheonix and dragon)... although that's reaching a bit far for now and mixing too many things. ***In my mind, Paimon is the heavenly Principles (or part of them in case they're not a single entity or something of equal status and power as them). And for some reason - my guess is to bring (guide) the Travellers to Teyvat and safe the world - Paimon used up all her power and regressed into the form she is now. Shrinking (and losing memories) as a result of using unnatural power and gathering power (by eating a lot) and growing are common themes we encounter over and over and are often linked to Paimon (either by her doing it or Paimon being linked to them through conversation or remarks).

Indemnitium was produced by everybody and not only Fontanians and even if it was only produced by Fontanians, we know that they are special so it would make sense. so why can only Natlan ppl produce contending fire if they aren't special in some way? i think that they might be mix-blood between dragons and humans

I loved Natlan's story quest. The music, the build up, the battle... I was so immersed on it. I just wanted to share something: the whole Natlan story seems to be an allegory to the colonized regions that nation is based of. The tribes are facing an outsider enemy (the abyss/colonizers) that threats with death, or in genshin terms, to erase the memory and identity of the people by make them forget of their traditions and costumes through religion and other methods. Funny enough that the America's discovery was around 500 years ago, can it be a coincidence? Anyways, great analysis! And yes, the mic sounds perfect!
10:40 this is incorrect. Capitano’s rank was GENERAL, not commander. That’s what the chinese word used by Guthred more accurately translates to. Anfortas (the Albrecht clan member described in Perinheri) was leader of HALF of Khaenriah’s knights. The only knight order we know that was wiped out in Sumeru were the swan knights. Which were a small elite force. Not the whole army. Which consisted of many other knights. And we know other Khaenrian knights survived because of both the phlogiston-encased knights under Natlan were under Capitano. The only known khaenrian general was Anfortas. And we KNOW Anfortas escaped the sumeru expedition alive because he was the one to kill the traitorous commander named Hadura. And of course there would be no indication of him losing an eye. He wears a full face mask. Neither Kaeya nor Beidou show any signs of reduced vision despite both wearing eyepatches. So it makes no sense to assume that Capitano/Anfortas would favor one side when none of the other eyepatch characters do that. Capitano also personally blames himself for the failure to save Khaenriah. He says “‘I’ couldn’t save Khaenriah.” Not ‘WE’ couldn’t save Khaenriah. The only Khaenrian general with the power and authority to have all of Khaenriah as his responsibility was Anfortas. And yes, he’s from the same clan as Kaeya and Caribert. But they’re probably not closely related. Clans are massive multi-family structures with common roots, not necessarily direct descendants or immediate blood relatives. It wouldn’t make much sense for him to place the burden of the entire country of Khaenriah on himself if he was just some random platoon commander. I still 100% believe he’s Anfortas.
My only question is why would the Tsaritsa let Dottore do all this. It feels Ill. Sure everyone else has free reigns with questionable stuff but Dottore feels a bit far out there compared to others
No hasnt been confirmed. I'm speculating because dragons have 'outside of Irminsul' knowledge and the Fatui do too. Could be that that's where they got it from.

I’m just going to be honest while I think capitano’s death is a possibility you have to agree it’s the worst decision moyo could make, it’s bad for business, he’s so well liked that they would practically be burning cash instead of making him a playable character which could make them a good amount of money, so while I will acknowledge that this theory is a possibility I’m going to go ahead and say it’s awful from a business standpoint, perhaps they will bring him back to life just to make him playable or “kill him” by throwing him into the abyss so we can get a story quest for him, but at least for right now he has left little impact and we’ve seen practically nothing from him, so there is no point in killing him off, and the idea of Mavuika dying is even worse because Mavuika is a character we know will be playable

At this point I wouldnt even be surprised. I'm beginning to think that Kaeya is Khaenri’ahs last hope because he is a pureblood living without the curse because of what Chlothar did meaning he could potentially represent the ability to continue the noble line. Not only does he mention inheriting his eye patch from his grandfather, he also speaks of this grandfather finding a legendary sword. Could that sword be the twighlight sword? Could that not be another name for a sword that heralds the dawn. I do believe Anfortas has a direct relation to Kaeya we just don't know what yet. Can't wait for more lore on this mysterious family 😁

Capitano has so many death flags that now I think the plot twist will end up being him NOT dying but being severely nerfed and retiring from the Fatui.

We have not met Capitano. We have met Xbalanque possessing Capitanos body. The evidence for this is overwhelming in game. He is annoyed when Ororon tries to find clues about his identity, Mauvika says that she recognized something from him when he was pierced. Mauvika has not met Capitano so the person she recognized must be someone from her past. Capitano has the Cryo element but yet burns inside kind of like how Xbalanques soul would be doing. This is foreshadowed at the end of the archon quest when we are shown that khaenri'ahn souls exist within the night kingdom. It explains his unusual strength this is not necessarily something he told the Fatui it's very possible that Xbalanque joined the Fatui to find a way to change Natlans fate with the powers of the ruler of death within him. Similar to how Arlecchino most likely joined the Fatui to find a way to save Fontaine. These harbingers are loyal to their homeland or what they perceive as home for now at least. However this is going to change when the stakes for Khaenri'ahs revival is drawing closer, and both Capitano and Arlecchino are going to switch allegiance for different reasons. It now finally makes sense why Capitano travelled to Natlan in it's time of need Xbalanque could merge with Capitano because they are both protectors of that nation. However Capitanos own soul is within the Night kingdom and he is trying to find intelligence for how to retrieve it. For instance he was very intrigued at the prospect of reconstructing the Leylines was that perhaps a glimmer of hope for the warrior that fought for over 500 years. Capitano is going to go down as the best written character in Genshin. As always Hoyo never misses on it's storytelling, Capitano came to Natlan to die, instead he is going to be resurrected as one of Natlans true champions and forge an ancient name. Xbalanque is going to take the hit for Mauvikas sin similar to how Focalors took the hit for Egerias, it's because if follows a pattern that is very crucial to the bigger pattern of the game.
Why would xbalanque in capitanos body tell everyone he is a warrior from khaenriah. And why would he know dainsleif. And why would he know our sibling and that dainsleif was with them
good theory but no. Xbalanque is implied to be the Ancient Names themselves. the Ancient Names may all belong to Xbalanque, like these are titles that belong to him. if you look up the meanings of each name, including Mavuika's Ancient Name Kiongozi, they all describe Xbalanque

So the Natlan disaster happened after or during the Cataclysm as far as I understand he came to Natlan to defend against the Abyss. Why would he want to challenge Mauvika at all the Fatui have no ambition to become archons. Why would Capitano know about the "rules of natlan" when Ronova only gave that gift to Xbalanque it's not something "Capitano" should know anything about, Mauvika is confused even. "Now it falls upon me to create new rules for Natlan" He is talking about the ruler of death Ronova. Why would Mauvika suddenly feel like she remembers something about him, why would he commend Mauvikas handling of the crisis it doesn't add up. But it does if he is he first archon returning to Natlan.

I think they have worked up a plan to burn down Irminsul since the beginnign of the game. Everytime Dain talks about the"leylines" he do so with a mocking tone it's easy to miss but it's there the contempt. The Prince/Princess is what some of the Fatui promise to revive the homeland but that is in line with what the sibling also wishes. Ok u have to remember one of the siblings was in Khaenri'ah not both so it's very likely that sibling lost his descender power.

I think the gnosis could still be key to the plan. The thing to keep in mind is what the Fatui is about: To embrace the virtue of folly.
To give free reign and risk a conflict of interest ruining the plan would be foolish, that sounds completely fitting and it might be itself key to the plan.

We know this for a fact because the chinese version of the game has Perinheri’s gender set to be the opposite of the Traveler’s. Perinheri in the book becomes female if your traveler is male. And the only character in the game with a gender dependent on the traveler’s is the abyss twin. Thus, Perinheri is the abyss twin.

I feel that Capitano is duty-bound to protect Natlan to the end. We also know that he is currently living for 500 years or more.
I think the negotiation he struck with the Lord of the Night has something to do with Mavuika's plight and destined death for the use of Ronova's power. And as someone who was cursed by the curse of Immortality, undying yet still rotting inside, it's only fitting for Capitano to be given the etwrnal rest he so deservea. At least, with this trade, it's a win-win for everyone:,
1. Capitano pays Mavuika's debt to Ronova by taking the bullet for her.
2. Capitano saves Natlan in the process and Mavuika lives on while he gets the rest that he wanted

I do agree with you, it’s just that we don‘t know if he is tired of living… he never said that and it was communicated to us that he lives for the heat of Battle. Maybe he is still willing to live on, why else would he serve the Tsaritsa? His whole Plan to Save natlan could have been executed without him being a Fatuus.
If he dies I think this is how we get him playable he will come back and no corrosion
This was definitely my fav quest ever in Genshin and one of my fav quests ever in any game. The music definitely just made the whole thing come together, I dont think it would have been nearly as powerful without it. Also your sound quality with the new mic was great!
Thank you 😁. Yes I was so moved by this quest. I don't understand what is confusing people why they think the last section was a cop out. Natlan took serious damage from this fight and it didn't get erased with the Ode. It just let everyone who was left be enough to turn the tide. 😕.

If they brought Chuychu back I would have been happy cuz i liked her but it also would have made her whole sacrifice creating the heroes meaningless, let alone everyone elses sacrifice. The part where we get to fly around on the balloon and the abyss has started to take over everywhere felt like total despair, so im glad we got to keep that feeling. It made Mavuika activating the Ode that much more powerful and meaingful, like their nation is destroyed if she cant do that. And the Ode working for the final part was perfect too because like you said, everyone was ready to fight to the death with their courage. Near the end when we kill those big abyssal tumors, one of the NPCs yells something like "Death is off the table, time to go all out!" And that felt so awesome to hear! Knowing you arent going to die in the fight is fantastic, but it will still hurt and to be brave enough to go through with that felt so cool as a player. Hoyo really painted a perfect story at the end there.
As to how Maviuka could get out of this mess.. my primary thought is the Rules of Natlan. The victor gets to be ressurected.

At the beginning of Fontaine, Paimon said (to Lynette): "are you saying that you and your brother lived in the water?". And the Traveller added: "Maybe they're mermaids or a fantastical race from fontaine."
Before going to Natlan, Paimon asked: "could it be... that there are no humans in Natlan?"
Now, i don't know if that's just cheeky foreshadowing or a hint to Paimons (regressed) omnipotent*** power or simply a misdirection from Hoyo. But seeing how differently the rules of Teyvat work on the Natlanese, the guess that they're not entirely human, is an easy one to make.
Have dragons or vishaps been linked to resurrection at any point (or in history, myths or legends Hoyo could be referencing)? Because that would give us the missing link. The Pheonix immediately comes to mind and if you think aztec history, the Quetzalcoatl is kind of a mix of bird and snake (pheonix and dragon)... although that's reaching a bit far for now and mixing too many things.
***In my mind, Paimon is the heavenly Principles (or part of them in case they're not a single entity or something of equal status and power as them). And for some reason - my guess is to bring (guide) the Travellers to Teyvat and safe the world - Paimon used up all her power and regressed into the form she is now. Shrinking (and losing memories) as a result of using unnatural power and gathering power (by eating a lot) and growing are common themes we encounter over and over and are often linked to Paimon (either by her doing it or Paimon being linked to them through conversation or remarks).
i have been wondering the same thing. cuz like...why can only people of Natlan produce contending fire? what makes them special? Indemnitium was produced by everybody and not only Fontanians and even if it was only produced by Fontanians, we know that they are special so it would make sense. so why can only Natlan ppl produce contending fire if they aren't special in some way?

I loved Natlan's story quest. The music, the build up, the battle... I was so immersed on it. I just wanted to share something: the whole Natlan story seems to be an allegory to the colonized regions that nation is based of. The tribes are facing an outsider enemy (the abyss/colonizers) that threats with death, or in genshin terms, to erase the memory and identity of the people by make them forget of their traditions and costumes through religion and other methods. Funny enough that the America's discovery was around 500 years ago, can it be a coincidence?

10:40 this is incorrect. Capitano’s rank was GENERAL, not commander. That’s what the chinese word used by Guthred more accurately translates to. Anfortas (the Albrecht clan member described in Perinheri) was leader of HALF of Khaenriah’s knights. The only knight order we know that was wiped out in Sumeru were the swan knights. Which were a small elite force. Not the whole army. Which consisted of many other knights. And we know other Khaenrian knights survived because of both the phlogiston-encased knights under Natlan were under Capitano.
The only known khaenrian general was Anfortas. And we KNOW Anfortas escaped the sumeru expedition alive because he was the one to kill the traitorous commander named Hadura. And of course there would be no indication of him losing an eye. He wears a full face mask.
Neither Kaeya nor Beidou show any signs of reduced vision despite both wearing eyepatches. So it makes no sense to assume that Capitano/Anfortas would favor one side when none of the other eyepatch characters do that.
Capitano also personally blames himself for the failure to save Khaenriah. He says “‘I’ couldn’t save Khaenriah.” Not ‘WE’ couldn’t save Khaenriah. The only Khaenrian general with the power and authority to have all of Khaenriah as his responsibility was Anfortas. And yes, he’s from the same clan as Kaeya and Caribert. But they’re probably not closely related. Clans are massive multi-family structures with common roots, not necessarily direct descendants or immediate blood relatives.
It wouldn’t make much sense for him to place the burden of the entire country of Khaenriah on himself if he was just some random platoon commander. I still 100% believe he’s Anfortas.

No hasnt been confirmed. I'm speculating because dragons have 'outside of Irminsul' knowledge and the Fatui do too. Could be that that's where they got it from.

I’m just going to be honest while I think capitano’s death is a possibility you have to agree it’s the worst decision moyo could make, it’s bad for business, he’s so well liked that they would practically be burning cash instead of making him a playable character which could make them a good amount of money, so while I will acknowledge that this theory is a possibility I’m going to go ahead and say it’s awful from a business standpoint, perhaps they will bring him back to life just to make him playable or “kill him” by throwing him into the abyss so we can get a story quest for him, but at least for right now he has left little impact and we’ve seen practically nothing from him, so there is no point in killing him off, and the idea of Mavuika dying is even worse because Mavuika is a character we know will be playable

At this point I wouldnt even be surprised. I'm beginning to think that Kaeya is Khaenri’ahs last hope because he is a pureblood living without the curse because of what Chlothar did meaning he could potentially represent the ability to continue the noble line. Not only does he mention inheriting his eye patch from his grandfather, he also speaks of this grandfather finding a legendary sword. Could that sword be the twighlight sword?
Could that not be another name for a sword that heralds the dawn.
I do believe Anfortas has a direct relation to Kaeya we just don't know what yet.

Capitano CANNOT be Anfortas… Capitano fought in Khaenriah then went to natlan during the cataclysm… Anfortas ended up in Sumeru. They’re different people.

Capitano has so many death flags that now I think the plot twist will end up being him NOT dying but being severely nerfed and retiring from the Fatui.

We have not met Capitano. We have met Xbalanque possessing Capitanos body. The evidence for this is overwhelming in game. He is annoyed when Ororon tries to find clues about his identity, Mauvika says that she recognized something from him when he was pierced. Mauvika has not met Capitano so the person she recognized must be someone from her past. Capitano has the Cryo element but yet burns inside kind of like how Xbalanques soul would be doing. This is foreshadowed at the end of the archon quest when we are shown that khaenri'ahn souls exist within the night kingdom. It explains his unusual strength this is not necessarily something he told the Fatui it's very possible that Xbalanque joined the Fatui to find a way to change Natlans fate with the powers of the ruler of death within him. Similar to how Arlecchino most likely joined the Fatui to find a way to save Fontaine. These harbingers are loyal to their homeland or what they perceive as home for now at least.
However this is going to change when the stakes for Khaenri'ahs revival is drawing closer, and both Capitano and Arlecchino are going to switch allegiance for different reasons.
It now finally makes sense why Capitano travelled to Natlan in it's time of need Xbalanque could merge with Capitano because they are both protectors of that nation. However Capitanos own soul is within the Night kingdom and he is trying to find intelligence for how to retrieve it. For instance he was very intrigued at the prospect of reconstructing the Leylines was that perhaps a glimmer of hope for the warrior that fought for over 500 years. Capitano is going to go down as the best written character in Genshin.
As always Hoyo never misses on it's storytelling, Capitano came to Natlan to die, instead he is going to be resurrected as one of Natlans true champions and forge an ancient name. Xbalanque is going to take the hit for Mauvikas sin similar to how Focalors took the hit for Egerias, it's because if follows a pattern that is very crucial to the bigger pattern of the game.
Why would xbalanque in capitanos body tell everyone he is a warrior from khaenriah. And why would he know dainsleif. And why would he know our sibling and that dainsleif was with them
good theory but no. Xbalanque is implied to be the Ancient Names themselves. the Ancient Names may all belong to Xbalanque, like these are titles that belong to him. if you look up the meanings of each name, including Mavuika's Ancient Name Kiongozi, they all describe Xbalanque

So the Natlan disaster happened after or during the Cataclysm as far as I understand he came to Natlan to defend against the Abyss. So it's entirely possible that he met Dain after or it's possible that he shares Capitanos memories.
Why would he burn inside him if he is a cryo character? Why would he want to challenge Mauvika at all the Fatui have no ambition to become archons. Why would Capitano know about the "rules of natlan" when Ronova only gave that gift to Xbalanque it's not something "Capitano" should know anything about, Mauvika is confused even.
"Now it falls upon me to create new rules for Natlan" He is talking about the ruler of death Ronova.
Why would Mauvika suddenly feel like she remembers something about him, why would he commend Mauvikas handling of the crisis it doesn't add up. But it does if he is he first archon returning to Natlan.

@@Yuri-q4v Hmm Dain it's interesting I think Dain is in contact with Tsaritsa and the Fatui because I think the sibling is. I think they have worked up a plan to burn down Irminsul since the beginnign of the game. Everytime Dain talks about the"leylines" he do so with a mocking tone it's easy to miss but it's there the contempt. The Prince/Princess is what some of the Fatui promise to revive the homeland but that is in line with what the sibling also wishes.
Ok u have to remember one of the siblings was in Khaenri'ah not both so it's very likely that sibling lost his descender power.

Well I listed a bunch of reasons including the one you mentioned, why Anfortas can't be Capitano. I said I wanted to address the theories not confirm them. I will repeat that Anfortas can't be Capitano and I wasn't ever saying that.

The quest fell off for me the moment they started reviving people and all the damage done gets reversed.
That's why I made this video, to explain that it didn't. Everyone who died before it happened is still dead. Chasca's sister is still gone. If you run around Natlan after the quest loads of people are gone because they died before the ode took effect.

the people that died before mavuika used renovas power are staying death. they are gone gone and mavuika couldn't bring them back.
