How TF are these things even remotely legal to do in this industry regardless of a contract??? There should be some addendum in their contracts- unless in the event we don’t allow you to x, y or z for x amount of time to curb the shelving for ANY reason. They do it for cruel & unusual reasons all too often. This story is nuts, I’m so glad you told it.
A lot of artists have and are going through that with RCA records! It's so disheartening, to just be shelved like that but they won't let you leave 😩

That happens more often than you might imagine.
She is so tenacious and resilient! I would probably fall apart if I went through what she did for all those years. Having her creativity stifled and being told what to do by people who don't even have a shred of her talent is awful. Let the artists be artists and trust the process.
Disaster really deserved to be her big comeback. It felt like the perfect lead and was so on brand for Jojo, and I have no doubt it would've been as big as her previous leads, had her label supported her and gave her a proper roll out and push.

So many of us followed her journey, owned her first 2 albums and felt robbed that we waited so long for a comeback. The reality that she was literally being held captive by a NON-FUNCTIONING label is beyond wicked. Those are the type of people who shouldn't be in positions of power to begin with. Before T.Swift, Miley, Demi, Selena, Ariana - there was Jojo going platinum at age 13. My best memory of her was her being so happy in an interview cause Whitney Houston sent her flowers, congratulating her on going platinum. That's the level of respect her talent got.. until she just disappeared.

She's so mature even at 6 years old. Very well articulated in terms of what to say and do about her life. I don't even know what I want to become when I was 6 years old. I was just enjoying my childhood like an ordinary girl. The amount of resilience, passion and energy Jojo have is admirable. I always wonder where she went because she is the same age as me. I was in high school when her single released and I love her songs. It's just really sad and awful that she had to go through such a hard time to release her other songs that she worked so hard for. I hope everything is better now for her. 🙏🏼

I was in middle school when Jo Jo appeared with leave get out. That song was huge!! I did wonder what happened to her and it really sucks to learn what happened to her. I was OBSESSED with Jojo when I was little. I did a choreographed dance to Leave (Get Out) with my sister. I remember so clearly the Christmas I got her second album and a portable cd player, riding home from my grandpa's that night listening to it on the car. I got a money order for 99 cents to get a used copy of her first album off ebay because I was a kid and didn't have a credit card or anything. I followed her for so long, and I've been so excited to see her doing well the past few years and finally getting that grammy! I'm not really into the style anymore from what I've heard, but her voice really is insane, and she just seems to be have a good head on her shoulders and my heart breaks for everything she endured.

You guys are so good at what you do, I didn't even know who Jo Jo was and I watched the entire video.
Many people underestimate John's intelligence. I was amazed during her early interview (13 at that time) at how well she spoke and answered the questions which are suited for mature artists. Her fight definitely is a bittersweet symphony, almost been, but she's prevailed in the end.

Jojo was the very first artiste I connected with, may be it's because we are around the same age, she is the very first artiste I can say I was a fan of because my 12 year old self genuinely loved her and not cuz my siblings or parent did (hope this makes sense) ❤❤. Great video! I loved the storytelling and production quality. There were two things that were off in the timeline. JoJo didn't work with Danja on the album until the jumping trains era around 2010-2012 and she didn't fire her mother until after she was 18. All in all, great video with great research! You went so in depth. 👏
