Also of note: the dragons' fury devours buildings. Take note medics, if you want to clear out a nest don't uber the heavy. Uber the DF pyro.
if they're around
or better yet, uber a demoman! not only does he put out more damage, but he's also more common in pubs
@@overlord3481 a little bit harder today with the increased popularity of the short circuit, though.
as a medic main when i see a medic ubering always a heavy to sentry nest i get cancer
4:46 three shot a level 3.
5:35 two shot a mini.
This combo and the Dragon's Fury itself are being slept on
It seems like a really strong combo, but unfortunately i feel like many people don't want to make a deal with the devil by using the scrutch shit (including me)
@@kaiji4788 You can use the detonator, it's the scorch shot but you have to time it
@@Waddle_Dee45 Unfortunately, detonator shot dont make the enemy bounces
@@kaiji4788 Oh, I didn't remember that. Sorry!
@Eating Danger And yet the Phlog is still a common choice...
I didn't really think about using the scorch shot like this, clever also kirby's dreamland music nice~
if only the DF wasn't also bugged to hell...
the on-paper stats are actually fine imho (well the airblast CD might be a tad too much) but what really make the DF trash tier is a bug it have since JI: when the fireball collide with some other projectils (needles, arrows of any kind of rockets) it's hitbox just... vanish, the visual is still there but that's all that's left, it become an unusual launcher.
but really nice video anyway, always love seeing people get creative with the Scorch Shot, this weapon have some huge combo potential
i've personally only had this happen to me vs most projectiles a handful of times, but needles 100% wall out the DF and it's as hilarious as it is frustrating
It got fixed now
I know this comment is months old, but I'd like to let people know
@@Gamemaster64 Thanks. Glad I saw this.
man the only buff this weapon needs, is a strange variant, that would really put the weapon onto the hands of players, but rn it's just too weak without that stat clock
YES
I realize that this combo is super effective, but i will still stick with the Detonator out of principle
What if they nerfed scorch shot's afterburn? so AoE hits only ignite for 2.5s max. This way it is weaker in "ignite multiple enemies at once" area, and also can't kill a light class with just 1 flare (if they get hit by it twice). Knockback is it's unique (among pyro secondaries) mechanic and should stay.
Wow this video is surprisingly good! Subscribed. I am using Dragon's Fury quite regularly but I've never noticed how good it can be with the scorch shot!
Cool video lad! Learned a lot! Thanks!
I'm pretty sure that Scorch Shot don't just knock the opponent up on hit, it knocks opponent away from your position when Scorch Shot flare hits. So just like with airblast, if the vectors of enemy movement and your position, when flare hit the opponent, is against eachother then the opponent is just stays in place and gets knocked up a bit. Great video non the less! Im was using same build, even Powerjack for mobility since Scorch Shot lacks it compared to Detonator and Thermal Thrusters.
you're right, but the horizontal knockback of the scorch is much less than that of the airblast. just dont use it against people that are already fleeing and you'll be fine
The dragon's fury gives you a rush of dopamine when you use it correctly
ULTIMATE anti-M1+W Build
How novel, a person who doesn't demonize the Scorch Shot and the people that use it. Not only that, mentions a decent pairing with it that isn't the Phlog.
That said, I like using the Scorch Shot with the Dragon's Fury because it compensates for the fact that the Dragon's Fury has a recharging airblast. Usually, by time you use your air blast, switch to the Scorch Shot to shoot, and then back the Dragon's Fury is ready to airblast again. You can potentially stall an Ubercharge for a little bit or send either the heal target or the Medic somewhere to waste the uber.
great tips!! great video! thanks!!
I'm here cause of Verobey
Another video that shows that the scorch shot is more then just a spam weapon but a combo tool, it even works well with the axtinguisher.
You have made the scotch shot a respectable secondary, I applaud you.
This is great, but I rather not make a deal with a devil.
This was great! I'm gonna learn these techniques and try it out in a Tryhard Tuesday video. Thanks for the knowledge!
Underrated stuff
Thank you.
Motivating.
Love the Kirby music
Watch Valve nerf this to hell because god forbid Pyro actually has anything viable.
valve is never touching tf2 again pal
@@Gofaw laughs in localization files
you're assuming that valve will actually consider updating the game lol
it’s also worth noting that shooting the flare gun at the feet of a burning enemy, they’ll get launched too
Great Video! Actually makes the scorch shot use skill
also i love kirby
Hi, lister! I loved your content you should totally do more.
You misinterpreted how the knockback mechanic works!!!
Here are two excerpts from the wiki that explain it better:
"Hitting an enemy that is already on fire deals triple damage, so long as the middle of the "fireball" connects."
"Additionally, if a fireball deals enough damage and hits a standing target in the legs, it is capable of launching enemies into the air in a similar manner to other explosive weapons."
This means that to knock back an enemy you need to deal full damage, which doesn't happen at the third shot, but rather whenever the enemy is on fire *and* you managed to connect the center of the projectile. This caused me some confusion because it was rather inconsistent while aiming at the enemy's feet since he would be set on fire but not receive the full 90 dmg as the middle of the fireball hit the ground.
TLDR; To knock back enemies set them on fire and aim at their kneecaps.
I always did find the Dragon's Fury interesting; I picked up Pyro as one of my go-to's partly cus I really like their character, but also being chaotic while also a team player seemed really nice. Over time I saw that out of all their flamethrowers, the Dragon's Fury is one of the only ones besides the Plog that really changes your play style like the Huntsman or Gunslinger would.
Speaking of, the Phlog is also meant to give a reward, an upside for you giving away your airblast but it probably just taught players to walk forward and attack whenever and help spread the view of w+m1. Maybe if they tweaked it so the upsides were more worth it and made it so people didn't demonize Pyro so much, encouraged you to strategize and such, it wouldn't be scorned or at least left in the dust so often.
Lol the spy in chat at 5:26
I looked up this video after seeing a DF/SS pyro absolutely dominate a pub server almost singlehandedly
i need this because if i am going dragon's fury pyro i need some instruction as a far ranged pyro so thank you i haven't got the dragon's fury yet but this is helpful
I wonder if you can mini crit with the reserve shooter with the dragons fury by critting them into the air. The stats suggest it wouldn't, but It could be. And if it does, think of how much the general opinion about the dragons fury would change!
It does not. I tested this as soon as I found out the DF knocks upward and it's really dumb. I still use the RS on occasion with the DF though in case I just need a reliable secondary with good range, it pairs pretty decent in case you find yourself struggling at hitting scouts reliably or whatever
I always thought Dragon's Fury didn't need combos because it combos into itself.
now I'm not sure whether I was wrong or whether I've learned the secrets of overkill
if you had perfect aim, then yes, you wouldn't need scorch shot combos.
these trade a small amount of missed damage in exchange for landing shots much more consistently (which equates to more damage overall for anyone that doesnt have near-perfect aim)
This looks like a guide on how to be a pain in the ass
Scorch shot strong. No big surprise.
An actual method of the scorch shot being used that ISN'T braindead spamming into a choke. Honestly, this vid helps me respect the weapon just a little bit... Still gonna use the detonator or a shotgun out of principle though.
I use the exact same of the Pyro arsenal at the start.
i am sure someone has called it or said this before but idc.
The Scorching Dragon.
Why do you only have 12 subs?
0:01 on release . i thought a nerf is needed for it . but Valve nerfed it hard .
imo . if we will give it the old hitbox (or increase the current one) they should add an extra mechanics to it . here is my idea : the first target get 100% of the damage but any target that not the first being hit by the dragon fury projectile . get less damage (like 75%-50 i don't know which number is more balanced) .
on release . i really really hated how i get so much damage from it when it hitting my team mate that is next to me . also they should make it airblast as fast as normal flamethrower but maybe cost more ammo to airblast .
I had captains on and when he said scorch shot the caps said “Squirt shot”
Dragon's fury x flare gun combo guide when
Subbing for more Kirby music!
I wanna do this soo badly but i morally cant because i dont wannz use the scotrch shot agaisnt real players
Who doesn't love stun mechanics in a fps
Look at rocket launcher
You mentioned a triple damage type of shot with the dragon's fury. How do you do that
any hit on someone that's already on fire deals triple damage (ex. the first hit does ~30, then the second one does ~90)
@@listertf2 Not really "any", only center hits with DF fireball deal triple damage, off center hits deal standard 30 damage (maximum) and keep rate of fire increased.
@@pupkins000 you're right, that slipped my mind
The backscratcher is better than the powerjack
Give strange dragons fury please
Oh boy this wont be fun to play against
its really op....
Cool idea, unfortunately, it includes the scorch shot
Please play more pyro dragon's fury please I use them all the time when I sometimes play pyro
i got a god like kill streak with this then i got vote kicked :D but still fun to play with
and they said scorch shot cant be skillful
Using the scorch shot with Dragon's Fury 😄👍❤️
Using the scorch shot with phlog 🤮💩🙄😒
How’s that a problem?
how do i do this in fortnite
i ironically genuinely laughed at this comment
*Insert tf2 good fortnite bad reddit joke here*
To be fair, if you are using scorch shot, you don't really need the dragons fury, just spam that shit and everyone dies
laugh at the scorch shot user
0:07 No it wasn't.
Damage was barely above rocket launchers, only problem is... THERE IS NO SPLASH DAMAGE.
So it still took more skill then rocket launcher, and the fact Valve nerfed it so harshly is absurd, now it's harder to use then DIRECT HIT ffs.
They added two nerfs to dragon fury, if they atleast remove -25% hitbox size, it'll be fine
0:15 It's the fault of whiny people like you. Mini sentry is easy to use and practically meta on Highlander KOTH maps, but nobody cares about mini sentry. But suddenly Pyro gets a weapon that both takes skill to use and makes him viable and suddenly everyone wants to nerf it. Ever wonder why Pyro is never viable in comp? It's because of people like you. Same goes to Spy, Spy got some toys to make him slightly more viable(Dead Ringer and Amby, tho it only made him more usable in Highlander, not 6s) but then everyone moans about how "Dead Ringer and Amby are op"(how tf does a tool that let's Spy be more than just a one trick pony that dies after one stab OP???? How are we supposed to make Spy not die from one stab in competitive without dead ringer? Unless you ok with buffing Spy stats even further, Dead Ringer was the only solution, and now it's trash, just like Dragon Fury.
My complaints aside, this video was actually pretty good, and quite useful for a small channel as you. Looking forward for other niche weapon techs.
it was mechanically broken by definition seeing how it could hit people standing behind you
also i never gave any opinion on the nerf itself. i think they went too far with it, as you said
Too bad you can just use the scorch shot by Itself and be as effective, good video though
