@@stefansauvageonwhat-a-twis1369 Thanks! They weren't much for structural engineering in the day and they didn't realise that (especially when using tiles or heavier materials than the traditional thatch) it would bend the beam downwards over time.
Thank you so much for these great tips! I feel like this is one of the best roof tutorials I have ever seen and you've explained them in so much detail, I learnt so much from this! 🤩
your videos are so helpful and enlightening! I come from a 2D art background and hearing you use familiar terms (composition, theme etc) in an unfamiliar medium for me (3d/sculpture!) helps teach my brain that even when a third dimension is added the elements and principles of design still apply and help just as much. side note, maybe that’s a good video idea, based on the elements and principles of design? I know you have most of them sprinkled throughout your videos (and it’s obvious you have an amazing grasp on them) but it would be very useful (and fun!) to have a video where you briefly explain each element and principle and give an example in a build. Elements of design as in line, color, shape, form, value, texture, and space (and negative space) and the general 9 Principles of design as in Contrast, Emphasis, Movement, Repetition, Proportion, Rhythm, Balance, Unity, and Variety. I feel like a lot of these apply to building in minecraft, and not just in fine art and graphic design :) as art students we get these terms drilled into us at a young age and at least a few of them are used in every piece. you should be able to google to find a better list/example. keep up the great work!
I do indeed have a series and most (If not all) principles you mention are covered there! Check out the Building 101 playlist and see what you think. I will also be cutting them into a full movie version so they are all in 1 place very soon!
I am currently making a spanish-Italian style villa ots got quite an unusual shape. i had built an tower adjecent to the house and i want to create a roof for it so what u suggest. As well as i need an idea for making a balcony. The balcony's floor must be slabs and what roof do u suggest of the balcony?
Hey, could you make a video about combining organic and geometric elements in building, for example having a tree growing out of a building with roots wrapping around ot, or a simpler example being having vines on a building, but wether you make a video on this or not I love the your channel, and the series, and I want to see you succeed!
Thank you. There is a video on this series about Organic builds, that should help. Just build the other part as normal and then add the organic part. Also check out my Nether Sword and Dragon Skull builds for something in this style.
I'm very late to Minecraft...like this week in the year 2024 late....I'm doing okay but good grief I am struggling with roofs! Thank you for this video!
Hey Folks, what was your favourite roof on the video?
even if I knew the roof styles learning why theyre useful was very cool, especially about why the top beam is curved in many fantasy builds
High pitch gable for sure ahahah
Those fantasy roofs🔥😮💨

Just finding out the correct terms for some of the roofs I have been building has been very interesting! ☺
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
This series reminds me of old Minecraft UA-cam, very nice vibes :)
Thank you!

And it's all polished sandstone so how to texure it without sacrificing the modern look
Sounds great! I'd say Red Sandstone is an option. That would contrast. Or One of the Deepslate variants.
Post some pics on the Discord, there will be plenty of suggestions people can give you there.

Do a let's play where u build these in smp server or survival .
I have a survival series. Check it out, there's lots of awesome builds in that in survival (including the Cathedral from this video).
:cries in oh finally finding the proper name for jerkinhead roofs:
I know, it's definitely one of the oddest names for sure. No idea where it comes from.
