      Im playing ftb infinity evolved, if you want to learn about basebuilding i suggest vampirism! when you are a vampire you have to utilize the space you live in a lot and because of how much time you spend there it makes you want to make it pretty. Ive taken over a village and expanded its walls to be a roof, and now im building it into a hill to place a castle on top of!
      It also makes you build infrastructure to help you not die so much, which counts as basebuilding practice in my book
      Edit: essentially i think it makes the minimum requirements for a functioning base higher, and thus encourages you to be more creative

I have never been able to find one that covers as much as yours or explains things anywhere near as well. I love these videos that explain your personal thought process especially since your style is by far my favorite.
    I would love to see a mountain or cliff terraforming video, like to encorporate steps/housing, or how to fix it better once the build is done to reincorporate a natural landscape feel.
    I've tried building houses into hills but also struggle with making a walkway to each door with making it look like I just took half the mountain/hill face off.

  • @sledgedragon2677
    @sledgedragon2677 8 місяців тому +1

    I remember seeing that exact pathway fence design from like, Etho or something MANY years ago. I still use it when applicable.
    Also, for anyone wanting truly good terrain, think scientifically. How would water travel down these hills and where would streams form? How much erosion is in this area? You can dig out your own flow lines if you'd like, but it IS very difficult to predict how water erodes terrain since we aren't the Earth. If you're making an entire map in worldpainter or something, make sure to consider wind direction and mountain ranges. If the wind is blowing in from the ocean, the moisture should get trapped on the coast side of any mountains in the area. If there is a full range of mountains, the other side would be MUCH drier than the ocean side.
    Another thing to remember, and this is probably the most important thing, is that rivers almost NEVER split. They merge from many streams and they get bigger with each new connection. If you DO split a river, make sure to make the new rivers half the size of the original, since the water volume was split between them.

    This was great. One of the things I still struggle with is "random", particularly with texturing. It probably doesn't help that I'm on the Switch still, so a lot of suggestions like macros that scroll don't work, but still, I feel like there's got to be a system that can help me be more random

    • @ArcusCrow
      @ArcusCrow 3 роки тому +1

      What I do is do each texture one at a time. I randomly break the blocks to be filled, fill them, break randomly (including the texture you just placed) fill the holes with another texture, and continue. Then I'll fly around a bit and see what areas could use more of each texture

    • @riuphane
      @riuphane 3 роки тому

      @@ArcusCrow that's essentially what I try to do, but again, it's the random part that I struggle with. I can easily come up with a palette and textures, and I can figure out the approximate ratios I want to give it the right level of texture, but "clicking" random spots/blocks is still near impossible to me

    • @sarahclaytonaps4330
      @sarahclaytonaps4330 3 роки тому +2

      I'm aware that this is a couple weeks old now but I thought a great idea I used to do before I got on computer was using a random number generator. It gives you a random number and you can use the ratio to determine whether to place the block there or not!

    This has inspired me so much, I know how I can terraform an area for a village, and I know how to make the paths look so much BETTER!

    Outlining before you terraform or build anything in minecraft is a fairly essential step imo, it helps visualize without putting too much investment in the way things looked in your head. Not just outlining the foundation, but also once you get the foundation down outlining your elevations is also a huge benefit to speeding up your build and terraforming process. Lastly, I think that its a safe bet to expect that you will need more space than you would initially think to build whats in your head given the area you're terraforming or building on

    Your terraforming is immersive and executable with the idea of feeling the area itself and seeing it’s potential. Very nice video, thank you

    Super useful video! I already know the basics of terraforming but the small details like only use odd numbers and no more than 7 was something I didnt know but is really helpful! Could you do a more in-depth video like this one on making forms of water (rivers, creeks, ponds, lakes etc). I feel like I always have trouble making those look very detailed / realistic.

    Dude thank you for these videos. I'm so bad at minecraft because my world looks bland and horrible asf and I needed to watch videos like these to learn new stuff.

    I enjoy your tips knew most of them but learned a bit too... Thanks
    Personaly I struggle the most with custom trees well the bigger ones in particular would enjoy some tips and tricks on those, general cliff rules would also be cool
