In 1972 Marlena was on the Dating Game. I was Bachelor #2. She selected me and Jim Lange sent on our dream date to Leavenworth, WA for the Apple Blossom Festival. Unfortunately for an unknown reason she did not go on the date so I took a friend.
So, my mom was 38 years older than I, old enough to be my grandma; but we LOVED watching this show together! She died in June 2016, and watching these episode brings back wonderful memories (and now at age 55, I understand stuff she laughed at that I didn't quite get, LOL!). Thanks for uploading!
LMAO!!!! Most entertaining episode ever!!! A woman who you can "see" thinking and one answer wins the game. Gene "I don't wanna say we've got a couple of dummies here..." hahahahaaaaha
Al Ferrara also played for the San Diego Padres, and the Cincinnati Reds. He had a .259 LBA, hit 51 home runs, and had 198 RBIs. He is quite alive and well, and 81 years old now.
She is *way* up the list of the best ever contestants but nobody will ever top that adorable old Southern frumpy who finally won and the whole cast came out from behind the podiums to fan her and give her a chair. The whole thing was so incredibly adorable that it chokes me up a little just thinking about it right now. Edit: I went back and looked her up, her name is Bertha, and I watched the whole episode again just now and it STILL makes me cry. ua-cam.com/video/1QM2I89xk8s/v-deo.html
My 17-year-old daughter's best friend is a clone of Marlena. They've know each other since Kindergarten. I've many times said that if anything were ever to happen to her parents or living situation, I would 'ADOPT' her in a heart-beat as she is the most kind and loving-yet simple minded girl I've ever known! She makes ever dull place seem amazing... If you are a guy that happens to meet a woman like this...MARRY HER as soon as you can before another does before you...you will never be sad, dull, bored, etc for the rest of your life!!!
Wowww...I thought I recognized that guy...AL FERRARA played for the World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers back in 1965...he was also one of the first San Diego Padres when they entered the league in 1969....he was a pretty good outfielder and hitter...cool stuff...

Does anyone know whatever happened to Marlena Cruz? She was the most entertaining Match Game Contestant EVER.She's pretty, she's wacky and she's funny. In other words-She would be the perfect girlfriend for me.I'm curious if she ever married or did any other TV appearances. If you know where she really ended up,please reply !
In the previous episode, Marlena mentioned getting a job at a production company.... I'm wondering if she did any cameo/small parts in any tv shows? She looks so stinking familiar to me....
Her daughter is on some of the comment sections of these episodes with her mother, and she said she's still just as funny and sweet as she is here. She is still living too.
It is funny/ironic that a question came up and the best answer was "nude"! One of my Favorite Movies of all time stars Juliet Mills and Jack Lemmon in Avanti! A very Cute comedy, a MUST see, that has Jack and Ms. Mills doing a very soft nude scene done in very good taste while swimming in the Mediterranean Sea! Ms. Mills, to say the least, I was impressed! 👀💘 mea sententia 🦂🥂
That Al guy was weird. I swear, I think he was an actor or comedian or something. He wasn't really trying to win except till the tie breaker which didn't go well. And that's another thing, not one panelist said garden. WTF.

You should have taken Al Ferrara
Maybe just as well for you!
You did not miss anything truly 🙄
Too Bad 😢 4 sure
Which episode is it? I bet I can find it on here, did she go by her real name? Did you?

38 isn’t that old
Old enough to be your grandma in Arkansas.
@@inkyguySnap!
She gets the match and then runs to the wrong celebrity, I love it!
Marlena is such a great contestant! Such a sweetheart!

When I was a kid I couldn't wait for this show to come on.
Me too! Mom was in the kitchen prepping for dinner....I miss those days.

Awesome to get updates on memorable contestants!
but he only mentioned the Dodgers.
After all these years, I wonder if he’d be any better at game shows by now?
To bad he was absolutely awful at the game.
Look at those bell bottoms at 20:40. I do remember them!
Came home everyday from school hearing the theme song. So fortunate and grateful to have grown up in an innocent time.
I can't stop laughing.... Marlena was by far the most entertaining and best contestant..... Cute too......

She might have been the most entertaining, but nobody (and I mean NOBODY) could beat how nutty and annoying Dorothy was)
Yea, she's sexy. I love women who are extremely vivacious. They tend to be very active under the old Wamsutta's.
Al Ferrara is stil alive. He turns 82 in December.
Fun Fact AL Ferrera and another ex Dodger Joe Levebvre played Headhunters on Gilligan's Island.

Oh. He really was a baseball player. huh. Okay.
back then baseball players didn't make millions per season like today, a lot less.

Fanny: "I can't believe he said Trailer Park. I said Trailer Park" 😅
I think they all had a little too much wine 🍷🤣🤣. Gene was splendid as always. Marlena was cute too
For the first time on Match Game, Richard Dawson forsakes the shirt and tie, going with a rollneck jumper instead.
Marlena is ADORABLE!
Marlena was soo cute! What a doll!
Hysterical episode! I wonder if that was the record for most zero-match questions in a row?
Really dumb questions on this episode, no wonder there were no matches.

I thought I remembered Al Farrara. He also acted for a brief time.....he played on a few episodes of Batman playing villains henchmen!!!
He looked native American
And Gilligans Island as a headhunter.
Gene's reaction to Marlena saying "sword" murdered me 🤣
I heart Marlena!!!
Greg Morris does great accents and character voices!
honor Thy Father probably the coolest answer ever

Nope. That was the first thing out of my mouth. then Honor Society.

Very actressy, that Marlena. Like she was hoping to be "discovered". But fun. And possibly not too bright...unless it was part of her schtick.
How about his wisecracking about giving her 5 dollars!
How did Brett get "camel" out of "piano"?
and the baseball stats of Al Ferrera....www.baseball-reference.com/players/f/ferraal01.shtml
Did Brett have a hearing problem? Do you notice how many times during the run of the series that Gene has to repeat the question directly to her?
@@EVzipper48 Brett was tipsy and lost the question in her echo of her head.
It's doable. I thought that's what he said, too.

Alpha female? Id say a catty drag queen.

Drink whiskey… right now that is the worst answer in match 74.
Morey is usually pretty funny but he musta been channeling dawson that night, because his quips fell flatter than pancakes
Soda pop? Who says that? In SoCal its soda. In the midwest its pop. Am I wrong?
That's what a lot of people called soda back then. I grew up hearing it and I'm on the east coast.
I grew up in the west and we call it soda pop.

I'm being paid for this?
You mean for giving head?

I was so tired of contestants saying they’re so nervous. Why bother to go on a tv game show?

he was a baseball player for the Dodgers in mid 60's
about the word garden, yeap seems like they did it on purpose to keep Marlena alive.
Most viewers IQ dropped at least 30 points watching this video.
And you have no proof of your statement
"Get ready to match the stars?!!?" What stars?!?? Who are these people and what are they supposed to be famous for??!?
How old are you?
One of these time on the show Gene is going to say something offensive to a contestant and will possible get hit.
