I use the thermal bore a lot. Mostly to drop cashout, destroying bridges and cranes, clearing goo and poison, and creating inconvenient holes in the floor of doorways.
facts. I always drop some behind me after closing a door getting chased and when they set it off and I start pewing them, it’s almost a guarantee elim. Also gas mining a a cashout box defensively is a great way to keep opponents at bay and stalling. I’ve won tons of games by people not being able to touch the box while i’m fighting somewhere else hahaha
Pyro mine is the most underrated heavy gadget. You can plant on point to stall steals, plant on enemy trophies (you'd be surprised how many people fall for this), place at feet when retreating to catch chasers off guard.
gas mines are great if you want to defend from underneath the cashout, you can just shoot the mine and the gas goes through the floor. If enemies heal against that you could still drop the cash as a backup
All mines are very good if you play patiently. If your trying to top frag, it isn't super useful. But, if you play set up, especially with medium, you can confidently protect the cash out solo.
this, in cashout you might have to defend against all 3 enemy teams and we arent all named ottr, gas mines in particular can defend your cashout and keep it on highground. Ottr needs to be honest that he has no patient playstyle
If you are lower rank and are still having trouble reading all the information you get I can see it. But it is a skill you have to build so it is still bad.
@@burninglight97 i am not low rank, but even if you are right then still it will be a loot easier to react to danger than witchout it, also i see through smokes which i use as a combo with thermal, its strong slept on combo but what works for me may not work for you soo your choice.
Glitch mine is really easy to destroy with no one shooting at you, but you can use another mine to throw on it, so if someone tries breaking it, it'll either spawn gas or explode them and or terrain
i think C4 is pretty underrated, you can use it to relocate the cashout station by putting it a floor below and catch enemies off guard and you can use it as a breach charge if you're running mesh shield overall its pretty versatile
I absolutely love Pyro grenades when I'm low on health and getting chased through a doorway/window/zipline. Because if the enemy decides to chase you, they will take damage, you will know exactly where they are coming from, and it messes up their vision. Turned the fight around for me so many times.
I think there’s a big issue right now that medium is the only class with healing or movement options they can give to the team. I would add something like a speed grenade for light, which gives 5 seconds of movement speed bonus. For heavy instead of something like a healing grenade, to fit the play style I would say putting down a healing field would make more sense. You throw it like a bubble shield, and it has the same radius, and would give out a pulse of 30 healing every second for 6 seconds. Just giving more options would free up medium to use other gadgets, since right now it’s basically required they take healing beam and one movement option.
As a dash shotgun main, personally i think the thermal bore is quite versatile, specifically because of the *thermal* part. It having fire damage means i can clear gas, stall cashout/terminal, kidnap point, shoot behind me if I'm escaping, i just think it's all round very useful.
I think it’s a bit exaggerated. Sucks how often you can’t play because someone leaves or their game crashes, but outside of that the mode is very fun imo.
I always use the dash because whenever I use the invisibility everyone always sees me still like even if I’m not moving at all they will shoot me down like it’s nothing 😭 but I can never see them my eyes are fucked

for light i would place sonar over glitch this season, because sonar can almost always be used on cooldown, while glitch is much more situational. the amount of information the team gets is just much, MUCH more reliable than a clutch glitch in any other game. and to rank a gadget i think its important to rate its use over many games.
Thermal Bore is very very strong, at least A tier, it allows to create such insane angles by breaking down walls and all from afar. Literally allowed me to very easily set up a crazy defense on Monaco from a building in front cause I removed the walls to the cashout. It’s crazy good tbh.
Running thermal bore with goo grenades on light... Surprisingly useful for defending and attacking cahshout because because thermite bore ignites goo. Also sonar grenades are useful to help give the team enemies whereabouts, which is nice for cashout when attacking abd defending. Not S tier if Light is meant to be a killing machine and have more offensive gadgets, but Sonar definitely has it's applications in cashout.
Easy data reshaper buff:make it so that it’s instant instead of needing to pull out the tablet . Probably will have to nerf it as compensation but would be sick
Gas mine is great for gassing through walls since you can throw it right where you want it to detonate-If you put a goo wall on top of the mine it also wont get detonated if they set the goo on fire or explode the goo; meaning theyll usually walk over it and detonate it-if this is for a small room that you pincer then itll do a lot more than an explosive without having to actually be there to set up in the moment like with gas grenades. It also goes great with grenade launcher/explosives as it doesnt get debuffed stcked explosive damage.
Goo gun is S tier. It provides defense, offense, and movement to the heavy. It can stop a cash out steal, stun lock enemies in place so you can smash or burn them, and can create strings of fire as long as you want with a flamethrower.
I think thermal bore is great against countering barricades and getting rid of gas which is what I mainly run it for, I also run it for the scope as it’s great for spotting enemies
Glitch grenade is meant for engaging (at a distance). You burst down the mesh and push on them. Mine you hold a point and let them crash in and mow em down.
Thermal vision is the most slept on ability especially if you are using it on maps that have a low visibility or in games that are super intense and chaotic. It honestly belongs in a or b tier🤷🏾♂️
I think thermal bore deserves a small bump. The thermite element to it means it can deal with gas and goo defenses easily. Two things that often suck to deal with as a light. It is also VERY loud and can cover pushes and be used to make the enemy think you are coming from one way, while actually going another under the cover of the noise. Is it S tier? No. But I think it has slightly more use cases than you gave it credit for. Great tier list overall though 👍
Smoke grenades counter fire; Theyre really good if youre holding a point/Powershift and want to keep up goo walls against fire. also prevents gas from being ignited.
honestly ranked TA is relevant to all who play it :) i hated it last season but gave it another try now and it actually is really fun once you adapt your playstyle to it. Its a lot less chaotic and running around making noise gets punished harder, that is probably why many people do not like it :)
Been playing this game religiously since it came out. This season is a night n day difference I went from top of my team every game to dead last every game. I’ve been getting completely destroyed every game all season 3. Idk if matchmaking was changed or something but the game went from super fun to completely unplayable. I’m talking enemy team ending with 40-50 kills and my team getting like 4. Unbalanced teams is an understatement.
they def did something to the matchmaking. some games (id say 30%) are alright for me, but the rest are just shit games where youll have to sweat buckets to cover for ur fortnite kid teammates
APS should get buffed like maybe it takes more grenades and it starts to heal after a while of inactivity but I would make it get damaged if it doesn't get time to breathe (aka overheat).
I like lights specials i feel like they fit him very well and can be very versatile in disengaging and agrevating fights as well as scouting. The only one i dont like is cloak because vanishing bomb is a thing yea it makes noise and can give away position but its good and last a fare amount of time.

Im suprised that you dont think the winch is S. As primarily a solo q guy, I think its amazing. But the thing you have to change your expectations, because it makes heavy an area control class and not a pure support. Especially if you run barricade rpg and anti grav

Stopped at Invis cloak in S and Dash below it. Anyone who played for the first month after s3 launch was painful aware of just how prevalent and powerful dash lights were in every mode. Entire power shift lobbies of lights all using dash because invis and grapple were simply inferior choices. So many dash lights that approaching any objective was akin to slapping a Japanese murder hornet nest.
I think clock is overrated.. i use dash and play medium like a high risk high reward medium, I even use no vanish bomb, just sonar for information, gateway for quick positioning or use it in danger and termal vision. Works perfectly fine, all you have to do is dashing when you get hit to make yourself a hard to kill target amd always play high ground which is obviously kinda easy with dash
U forgot mention about Pyro utilities on blocking passage, burning Goo castle and Removing Posion from cash out U can also make enemy revive teammate statue longer since Pyro can stick on enemy Statue and DMG themselves when carry it

Dash as A tier is a mistake. So much better than invis. Invis can’t be used against good players. Dash can save you from good players if you know how to use it. It saved my ass playing against top 6 players yesterday

Healing beam is over rated while you use it you are not effectively able to use weapon making your team in a 2v3 might as well just shoot your gun over heal, turret and dematerializer are much more useful, I do agree with all your other takes though.
You hate on TA to much, I have played the required match of cashout in season one and have never played again, it is so cheesy and the meta is cheese. I only played bank it before TA, then TA came out and all of my friends only like that game mode cuz you need tragedy and not cheese. And gas mines are really good in TA when on ATK they have won me so many matches even after my whole team was dead. Maybe you don’t like TA cuz you don’t have an actual team ,you just solo queue so many matches. And you camp with sniper, so you can’t say it’s slow paced.(sorry for the holy yap, and you deserve an opinion as well this is just mine)
dude I have clutched 1000s of times with gas mines, you're fucking insane, gas grenades are 1000x worse, smaller cloud size and doesn't last as long and you only get 1.
Is Cloaking Device really that strong? I feel like rhe start up csr being ar 33% just eats it away too fast for it to be of any use after the initial pop.. Am i wrong?
personally all of the light specializations are quite bad, the cloaking one is just the least worse spec. Picking between the best of worst options doesn't make the best one a good option. (I am a light main that only runs cloak)
Yes and No the only reason why cloak is still powerful is only because if you are focusing your attention on something else which is basically all the time there's a high chance you might be killed... But there's thermal vision I don't think thermal vision is F tier that's ridiculous I think it's is in between B and A the pros is you can see invisible lights, if the building is getting destroyed and there's too much clutter to point where you can barely see you can get the jump on enemies before they can and seeing enemies in your peripheral vision but the downside of thermal is sometimes enemies won't be highlighted from certain ranges so you have turn your camera a certain way to see them, certain maps like horizon on night time makes it very bright for you to see in thermal, you can barely see mines if you are fully paying attention

I agree, especially while using the bow it makes it easier to hit enemies because they don’t camouflage into the environment. You only see them.

i feel like mesh shields overrated now, breaks fairly easy, and if you’re getting chased it just prolongs your death, charge n slam and winch all day.
I've literally never used mesh shield. It looks so boring to play. I press Q and watch enemies disappear 😂 Charge n slam is pure dopamine! ☺️

Mesh shield only works if u have communication with ur team. If I u are getting chased u can use mesh shield and call ur teammates to help u

yeah cloaking device is actually insane. In one of my first games i played i managed to clutch a 1 v 4 with cloaking device

When he said using gas mine was a skill issue I felt that.
For the mines it’s more of a “get out of jail free” card where if ur getting pushed you can plop down a barricade and mine, boom done easy

I like how most of heavy’s specializations we’re already in need of a nerf and then they got another stupid broken specialization while light and medium got mids
Healing beam is over rated while you use it you are not effectively able to use weapon making your team in a 2v3 might as well just shoot your gun over heal, turret and dematerializer are much more useful, I do agree with all your other takes though.
You hate on TA to much, I have played the required match of cashout in season one and have never played again, it is so cheesy and the meta is cheese. I only played bank it before TA, then TA came out and all of my friends only like that game mode cuz you need tragedy and not cheese. And gas mines are really good in TA when on ATK they have won me so many matches even after my whole team was dead. Maybe you don’t like TA cuz you don’t have an actual team ,you just solo queue so many matches. And you camp with sniper, so you can’t say it’s slow paced.(sorry for the holy yap, and you deserve an opinion as well this is just mine)
Tbh if i want to play TA i rather play other planting bomb game, cashout is way better and it is more fun.

personally all of the light specializations are quite bad, the cloaking one is just the least worse spec. Picking between the best of worst options doesn't make the best one a good option. (I am a light main that only runs cloak)
Yes and No the only reason why cloak is still powerful is only because if you are focusing your attention on something else which is basically all the time there's a high chance you might be killed... But there's thermal vision I don't think thermal vision is F tier that's ridiculous I think it's is in between B and A the pros is you can see invisible lights, if the building is getting destroyed and there's too much clutter to point where you can barely see you can get the jump on enemies before they can and seeing enemies in your peripheral vision but the downside of thermal is sometimes enemies won't be highlighted from certain ranges so you have turn your camera a certain way to see them, certain maps like horizon on night time makes it very bright for you to see in thermal, you can barely see mines if you are fully paying attention
