- A special race calls for a true Dream Build! Every year, fans anticipate the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships - and it’s not just the racing. As is tradition, every rider gets a custom painted bike and we had the chance to go behind the scenes to see what two-time world champion Danny Hart would be getting his hands on in Mont Sainte Anne.

The process brings to life a set of designs with a complete respray and painstaking decal application, before the bike is built ready to race for the rainbow bands on Sunday.

As someone who rides and has built bikes, and has also spray painted and painted canvases using spray paints and various layers of stencils, I find this whole video amazingly therapeutic. Massive respect to the achievement of all involved 👌🏼

For a second I was like "what the hell is that extra metal arm" but then I realized it's to isolate the brake from the suspension. Weird looking stuff

@@XxPureKhaosxX Its a single pivot bike so he wants to isolate the brake from the stupid brake squat that single pivot bikes have. I feel so sad whenever I see an expensive bike with a linkage driven single pivot suspension :/

This has to be the most bespoke build I've ever seen, a true labour of love. Wouldn't be surprised if the frame is built from scratch next time!

@@innisnettle It barely gets better, i tried the tyee and the spindrift climbs the same with more travel, only notice, get a fork you can lock out, the back suspension does not move when climbing but the front does so make sure you can lock that one out

It warmed cockles of my heart as a perfectionist who likes bikes. It was almost as some type of meditation, so relieving.
Depends on type of paint, thickness of each layer, and temperature. First paint must harden, then all thinner must evaporate for the paint to reach full hardness. Higher temperature makes the paint cure faster. In this case polyurethane or epoxypaint is mainly for show and is very thin, cures in a few hours at 25C.

Scott, (Danny's Mechanic) has worked on a couple of my bikes and he's an absolute legend. Absolute monster on the bike and a wizard on the spanners aswell!
