The way I see it, if you want a character to seem like a jerk, you have to write him that way. This is one method of doing so. The writers are not being offensive, the character is, and he's supposed to be.
Surprised that no one has mentioned this in all the years this has been posted, but this soundtrack version is different from the movie version - one of the verses is different. Anyone know why?
Love the satire of the ultra-macho misogynist and homophobic 'American Bigot', there's no small amount of irony in the fact it's written by the pansexual Richard O'Brien, who gave us The Rocky Horror Show! " Box clever, jocks never - hock another jock's tools." ;P
The tragic irony is that not only is he advocating a man should be in control but also subservient (A man should cut the lawn, change a tire, mend the worn, A man should never wait too oil a rusting gate, A man should put the food upon the family plate, along with he should enjoy being used as a source of menial or manual labor "A man should like his brow to be wet with sweat" Throw this in with group who sing "Always remember to follow the rules" There's more that can be interpretated to this song than just him being a Misogynist and Homophobic
"Your father HATES Mexicans!"
*Crowd cheers in delight*
The film's satire was genius!
Evan Tsilimidos plus in the song "Denton USA" they said they were tolerant of the ethnic races

Yeah, its not the writers being offensive, they are making it so that the character is an asshole. Especially the last line in my opinion.
This is so Reaganite. Really perfect.

Editing. There are very few copies of the film that have the whole song just like how only imported to the US copies had Heroes at the end of RHPS.
