you are such a beautiful couple. As the saying goes in Hungary "even God created them to each other" As a Hungarian I have seen a lot of videos about foreigners discovering our country, but both of you took it to a new level. Both gastronomy and culture was inroduced in such a thorough and funny way. And please consider "Pálinka" as a spirit distilled from the respective fruit mash, so it is not a "tasty" liqueur, with added fruit aromas, but the clean distillation of that fruit mash.(Dry test= smell the glass after you emptied it, so you can tell, the fruit that it was made of.)And I missed that you never tasted Hungarian wine! We are proud of our wine, especially of Tokaji:) Which is a dessert wine.Anyway, It was lovely to see Ya:) And Hungary has so much more to offer, check Lake Balaton.)

    HI!
    Great pictures !
Budapest was actually born from the merger of three settlements.
Pest Buda and Óbuda. The latter is located in the northern part of Buda.
    Its first name was Pest-Buda.
    Today shorty name Pest.
Historical Pest is roughly today's Downtown. This is the area within the first ring road. Later, several surrounding settlements joined, thus forming the present-day city.
At first there were even customs borders within the united settlement. These ceased in 1950.
Buda was also the seat of the ruler for a shorter or longer period. This also depends on the political and military situation. There was no permanent bridge over the river then.
4:09 Statue of Prince Eugene of Savoy. Under his leadership, the city was recaptured from the Ottoman Empire in 1686. But he was also the commander of the army that recaptured Hungarian territory. His last battle was Zenta Serbia. The city of Zenta ordered the statue, but could not pay for it. The government of the time paid for it, and finally it was placed in its current location in Buda Castle.
    Opera house.
The ruler at the time, Emperor Franz Jozef, was invited to the first performance.
He was known for hating Hungarians.
When he entered the auditorium box, he was shocked and remarked: It's more beautiful than the Vienna Opera House...
15:19 This is already an advanced model. In the beginning, it was the Rotary Dial Phone. Besides, not everyone had it. If you had a home phone, you could already feel a little bit like you belonged to the privileged caste.
16:14 when the disco light was not available, but something similar was needed for the house party. That's how it was solved smartly. Of course, this was not 100%, but after a lot of brandy/vodka/red wine, nobody was interested anymore...
Pálinka officially has an alcohol content of 37.5 and 86%. However, only those with at least 45% are considered pálinka. Those below 45% are mostly called funny names, referring to their weakness. E.g. rose water, horse saliva. This is especially true when it comes to sweetened and/or flavored drinks.
I don't know, do you know the Turkish toilet? It's like a shower tray. A hole between two footprints. You have to aim there...
For the shoes. The further career of the executioners can be viewed in the House of Terror...
Nat! Visit Gödöllő, preferably by train. There is the Grassalkovich Castle known as the Royal Castle of Gödöllő. If Sissy wanted to travel to the countryside, she traveled here. There is already an old building at the station called the King's Waiting Room.
Many people don't know, but a very small part of the Budapest railway network is called the King's Track. This is because this section connects the route coming from Nyugati railway station with the track from Keleti railway station to Gödöllő. It was built specifically for the direct, non-stop travel of the monarch. It is still used today for direct access to Nyugati railway station, but only for operational purposes.
The parliament building was designed for the needs of Hungary at the time. There was some representation in the matter, but they did not skimp on it anywhere. Before 1918, practically the entire Carpathian basin and even Croatia belonged to Hungary. If you look at the Carpathian Mountains, you can also see the border. In the south, the Sava River was the border, but at that time parts of Bosnia Herzegovina and Montenegro (the Bay of Kotor) also belonged to Hungary.
The southwestern border was the coast of the Adriatic Sea, even Trieste was part of the Monarchy.
The peace decree that ended the First World War and its consequences practically shocked the country. Its influence can still be felt today.
27:13 This is Erős Pista (Strong Stevie).
Many people think it's weak, so they invented new sauces with thought-provoking names.
Kegyes Halál, Attila Isten Ostora., Nincs Pardon Kabai menykő (Merciful Death, Attila's Whip of God, No Pardon, Meteor of Kaba)
There are places where they also give small dried peppers. This can be tricky, so be careful.
The Hortobágy pancake is a dish invented in 1958. It was named Hortobágy for marketing reasons, because it has nothing to do with the landscape unit of the same name.

The funicular is more like a ride than public transport. It's mostly used by tourists for the view and the experience and its capacity is very limited, that's why the price. The 10 Euro (4000 HUF) is the price of the return ticket, one way is "only" 2000 HUF. You can also walk up/down, next to the rail, it doesn't take much more time, and you can get the same view (there are 2 bridges crossing the rail where you can stand as much as you like, taking pictures, etc). Thank you for posting about the city. 👍👍👍
