Very helpful. As a (sometimes) poor person getting into rats ❤ Also read that Gerbils are very much into empty toilet rolls. So I guess that works for rats too🤷🏼♀️ Works for my dog😉
Jessica Crook they love it! I’m trying to find some other things to keep them busy during the “shortage“ (in our area people are hoarding and stores are working hard to keep up with demand). Hopefully I’ll have a fun video to share on that soon!
@Misc. Mischief makes sense, I just see a lot of videos where the creator is like "give it a thumbs up" like, what if I don't like it? P.s. This video is absolutely amazing😊
Lol that’s my favorite part too! I love seeing them stuff it everywhere. What’s even more hilarious is when multiple rats want to put out different places! 😂
I will lol, I'm kinda curious myself to see how enjoyable it could be for them? They do love pieces of TP but a whole roll will probably be comical for me to watch. They will probably end up getting TP on every inch of their cage lol. Thanks for your reply.
Story (an idea for enrichment is at the end): I switched from loose bedding to fleece, but I still had some bedding left over. What if you made a dig box with the old bedding, so its easy to clean up and your rats will like it? I think I'm gonna try it.
You could definitely do that. And if using fleece a person should always have a dig box since digging and foraging are natural behaviors that rats cant do with fleece.
@@RatRandomness thank you for this comment I had no idea !! I always give my rats blankets to burrow in but I had no idea that they needed to dig !!!! Great and informative video 🙏
Lol! my son named our two lil' girls Mac n' Cheese! But, I call them Thelma N' Louise! My girls look like twins, I can only tell them apart when I see their left sides - one has a grey spot there that is about an inch longer than the other one has. That one is Mac - aka Thelma, and the other is Cheese - aka Louise! Thanks for the great ideas! I need to keep them busy with fun stuff. So far they love tearing up newspaper, fishing for peas and their favorite, "gimme more yogurt"! My girls are so sweet and so so smart!
No problem! I felt the same when i first got rats and found photos so helpful. But i needed multiple angles. So now i make videos. :) Thanks for watching and commenting
Just thought that I would point out that pipe cleaners aren’t safe for rats. Not only because of the fluff sticking off the metal (which they can end up digesting and would be very painful for the) but also the sharp metal pieces can cut very deep. I think that what she did is fine since the rats can’t get at the pipe cleaners but do not use them as straps inside of the cage as this endangers your rats.
Rats do not ingest non food items. They only eat them if they taste like food. Which is why hides and toys like the snack shac are unsafe. Rats actually are very smart about non food items and have protective flaps inside the back of the mouth to keep non food items from being swallowed. Instead they chew and spit these items out. There are plenty of ways to make pipe cleaners not sharp on the ends. Simply folding them is the easiest that doest require tools. Lastly not all rats even chew things! Many breeders breed away from it and if not shown it by other rats they will simply bruxx to keep their teeth worn down. Aren’t our little pals amazing?! Thanks for the comment. :)
@@RatRandomness yes I am aware of the flap and thank god for it or else we would be in a lot of trouble lol 😂 however I have unfortunately seen things that weren’t food eaten by my rats, especially things like glue. I have read on many websites that things like thread and other such small fluffy strings can be ingested by rats even accidentally, tho I’m not sure how this would happen so maybe it is misinformation or they are lying but I don’t really know what that would get them so idk I guess. Just thought I would share some information, I see a lot of you tubers us things that aren’t at a later rats. Specifically the author known as Shadow the Rat.
@@shawn-oldaccountl6748 sadly misinformation gets spread not nessicary to gain anything but just because it sounds good and no one ever fact checks. and then it just gets repeated till people think it's fact. There's a lot of bad information spread on both youtube and in pet groups. Glues don't surprise me since often there are fragrances and such added to them. Which is why it being non toxic is so critical.
It definitely was. Ive since upgraded my video editing software and learned how to fix that. :) new videos have much better volume levels for background music. :)
Its the shelf that comes with a critter nation cage. I got mine second hand so the shelves were chewed up. I cut coroplast to fit and zip tied it in place then used dollar store rugs on it. :)

Toilet rolls work for so many pets! Its really nice. ❤️
Genius! Once TP isn’t so rare I’ll do this for sure!

"If you don't, give it a thumbs down" pure quality.
Rascal Rats I value honesty! I can’t make videos that are helpful if I don’t know why people don’t like things or that they don’t like them at all. :)

that lil dude at the beginning was so happy 😭
He so was. My boys (current and past) all love toilet paper
I love how the toilet paper is just getting sucked into the hammock! Also your rattos are adorable :)
Lol that’s my favorite part too! I love seeing them stuff it everywhere.

Good advice! Thank you 😊
thank you for sharing practical ideas, I need them
You are so welcome!
That's actually a great idea, mine love TP just as much. Great video👍 I'm gonna have to try this now lol.
Wombat Op let me know if they enjoy it!

I'm going to have to try this with my girls! I have one girl that I think would have a blast with this as she is a pro nester. 😂 💕
EmoHippie67 ooh I bet she would love it!

Thanks! My boys enjoy it so much. I hope your rats do too!
The toilet paper is top level genius.
Lol they really really love it! And its so cheap if you get single ply or dollar store paper.
@@RatRandomness I am planning on getting rats and I can literally tell they will live it😅
Great idea! My rats rip up paper towel and bring it into their little hideout for nesting material 😂
My boys love that too! Its such easy nesting enrichment and i love that!
Awesome video, really helps we share the same cage with really helps with dimensions( rats think in 4D lol)

@@RatRandomness okay thx, for the info!
Good video but the music is way, WAY too loud compared to your voice parts ~_~ I nearly jumped out of my chair! Otherwise appreciated video.

I know I’m late but where did you get that rat plushie in the beginning? 😙
Its a custom from melscrittersshop on etsy. I had it made to look like my heart rat. :)
Love this! Can you tell me where you got the ledge from? The one that they are standing on?
