I carry the Sig Sauer P365X with the shorter barrel and longer 12 rd grip module, but I switched mine out for the Wilson Combat grip module and it makes a world of difference to me. It's a much better fit in my hand and the texture is a lot better than the factory texture. I have the Holosun 407k mounted and I've also found out to be very reliable and a very good fit for the Sig optic cut. I am absolutely impressed with this combo and for me it's my most "perfect" carry gun to date.

Yup, I have been waffling on what slide to get for the P365 slide and WC XL grip module combo. I don't want to sit around without the pistol while the slide gets milled, and some of the best slides seem to be permanently OOS fue to yhe popularity of the pistol. Might just go woth a factory P365X slide.

I have this pistol and absolutely love it. I feel the slide porting instead of a traditional comp is a worthy trade off, especially on such a small pistol. It's an "oh shit" gun not a duty gun and I'd rather lose some barrel length than deal with a comp that can come lose and/or throw shrapnel at my face through the ports. If you throw a Zev oversized mag release you'll be good to go! Thanks Aaron

I liked your video. The idea behind the P365 built in comp is that it's built in and it doesn't have the many problems that add on comps have. The P365 Spectre comp ( I have one) execution is very good and everyone that shoots it can feel the difference ( I also have a P365XL) Now going forward can Mfg's make improvements on built in comps, I'm sure they will make advancements but for now Sig did a very good job.

If you want the trigger flatter aftermarket will bring the creep less and put it more near the wall which will keep your trigger flat to begin with. Tactical Trigger makes an excellent upgrade while retaining OEM parts and safeties.

Great review Aaron. In my opinion you should also review the S&W performance center M&P shield plus 4” ported model, either by itself, or in a heads up against the Sig Spectre comp. There aren’t many models of different compensated or ported carry guns that come straight from the factory like that, so I think it would be a great comparison.
I know you don’t like comparing apples to apples in terms of which one you personally like better, but seeing as how one model is compensated and the other is ported, I think it could be an interesting conversation between the two methods and seeing which one is more effective.
I am curious what you would think about that.

  • @scottfallen7478

You mentioned the desire for a flatter trigger at the end... I had the same complaint about the XL flat triggers and have found the curved trigger from the original 365 to be a significant improvement. It's 20 bucks, and it makes the travel distance feel much more reasonable. Thanks for reviewing the Spectre comp, I was interested to see if that slide/barrel design had any efficacy.desire

I do think the trigger pull and design is a safety feature being probably the gun without a trigger shoe safety carrying it everyday and knowing how reliable it’s been for me and so many others and knowing the trigger I’m sure it’s a safety feature that being said I’ve just falling in love with Sig triggers because of it. Mainly over that flat feel with out of the box and they change their pulls on guns depending on what they are for in the 320 lineup legions trigger is much different then a X Tac

I use a 507k, Wilson grip w/ weights, tlr7 sub and dpm recoil system (long plug med/short spring). Mcarbo spring kit and Tactical trigger kit. It runs fast and flat and i trust it with my life. Took pretravel down to 1/8” and just enough overtravel to make it run right. All safeties still intact.

The thing you said at the end about preferring a flat trigger that's closer to 90 degrees. I think Sig makes their triggers that way because the break is at 90 degrees and they think that's optimal for whatever reason. I haven't shot a flat trigger on a P365 but it looks very similar to the one on my P320 and I don't mind it and I do like it better than the curved trigger it had originally.

Shot it and a Range Buds Spectre Comp side by side on several drills. The true, compensated gun was more efficient at lessening muzzle rise/"felt recoil"- shot flatter, than the ported slide Spectre Comp model amongst 3 shooters.

Using the short barrel instead of porting seems to me to be cost saving for Sig because it allows them to use the same barrel as the regular 365 (just TiN instead of nitron coated) which if im paying $600 more over a regular 365xl than i would expect to get more than just slide cuts and a 365 barrel.

As someone who's had the standard XL for about a year, I'd rather keep what I got than go with a shorter barrel with slight "compensation". To me, the extra barrel length is necessary for a vast majority of defensive rounds to expand properly and be more effective overall. Sure, compensation is nice but at the end of the day, the standard XL is not a snappy G43, it handles well as it is. Maybe if Sig decides to release a proper XL barrel length that's ported and comp'ed, I'll pick one up.

The better test would be to shoot a 365 vs the XL spectre comp. Weigh the difference and add a weight to the light rail to keep the guns at dead even bbl length and velocity and recoil impulse and dead even total weight. Then test the recoil.

I'm having the same issue with mine on a Glock 19. Even got their own barrel and tried different shims.

@@ItzAlex626 yeah, I want to know what the trick is… I’ve reinstalled it 3x and each time I cleaned w acetone and brush and scraped off the remnants on the threads. I use new shims so it gets correct tension, use red locktite and rocksett and they still backs off…

@@pittwm I'm not sure what the correct way is. I bought the Moshi block and followed thier video too. I redid this week with different shims and rockset. Let it sit for 3 days so maybe the thread locker will have time to set?
It's seems to stay on now. I can't get it loose with just my fingers now. I'll shoot it and see if it flys off or not. Best of luck to you

Maybe this is going to sound weird ,but , how do you fire from 25 yards? from a bench...supported...standing...no support...one eye or both eyes opened?

Having shot all models of the sig 365 the comp is softer on the muzzle flip. It's not as much as sig says but it is an improvement. Money wise it's not worth it. But the better cut for the optic and a few other improvements make it nice if you own one.

I agree, the trigger is swept way too far forward - I impulse-purchased a P365XL and got rid of it for that very reason.

I had the P365 before the P365XL, and I felt the XL was more accurate, perhaps due to the longer barrel?
How does the Spectre's shorter barrel affect accuracy of groups at say 30 or 40 yards?

It probably has more to do with the xl’s larger grip

I carry the XL ($645 total) with a Wilson Grip Module($70), a True Precision 4.3” threaded barrel($190) and Herrington comp($90) Holosun 507K green dot. It shoots noticeably flatter. I like the longer barrel, and feel it’s more accurate than the 3.1 or 3.7 Sig barrels. So I think my combination is on par with the XL Spectre Comp. I’ve included the prices paid as a comparison.

It adds up when you try to improve on the design. With my astigmatism, I need a circle dot optic. A red dot only or iron sights don’t work well for me. So the extra expense for the Holosun was needed. I will keep my Wilson grip module, it fits better in my hand than the factory one. It’s a little fatter and allows better trigger placement for my finger. The nice thing about a threaded barrel and comp (or suppressor), you can always remove them and go back to factory condition.

Great video! Love your opinion on all things that go bang! Question, when speaking about premium ammunition, "HST, Gold Dot", through barrels 4.5" +, is there any reason to ever use the 124g +P or is it best to stick with standard pressure loadings? I've been using and practicing when I can with 147g HST & Gold dots for a few years now but I'm constantly wondering if added velocity would gain more positive than negative drawbacks through longer barrels.

    • @SageDynamics

I’ve not seen significant enough performance of the +P across the board to make the additional recoil worth it, personally.
