    I had been carrying a full size FN 509T and went to the P365 XMacro for my daily carry. It’s insane to think they have the same magazine capacity. That being said I’ve always loved the P365 concept but I just couldn’t shoot any of these micro carry pistols well (I also gave up on an OG Shield). Once the XMacro came out I knew I was on board. The grip just feels too good in the hands to ignore, optics ready, non-proprietary rail, straight trigger checks all the boxes. The extra 2 rounds compared to the Hellcat is just a bonus. Sig really raised the bar again.

    Thank you for your review. Just picked up the module to replace on my xls. My “macro” replaced my p365 xl and p320 xcompacts in my carry inventory. If I want an xl size grip I can carry my regular p365 with extended xl mag, but for me this felt better then the xcomp or xl. It’s almost the exact same size as the xcomp…just thinner.

    Nobody talks about the LOW Bore Axis. My EDC was a Wilson Combat P320 Compact ( with a Bore Axis about 3/8"+ higher than the P365 xMacro), after shooting the xMacro I no longer carry the P320c. The xMacro seems to recoil lighter than the P320c My likes are Grip Angle, Adjustable grip size, Low recoil, ACCURACY, Pic Rail and Capacity! Since 17 round xMacro mags are so expensive I took 2 of my 15 round P365 mags and cut the baseplate to match the angle of the bottom of the grip on the xMacro ...so now I have 2 extra mags (albeit, two 15 rounders)! Accuracy is really good (85% off hand, Head shot hits on FBI "Q" target) for such a short barrel!!

  • @darkhorsefive0
    @darkhorsefive0 Рік тому +4

    You described the X-Macro perfectly here. I love mine. Just picked up a Tenicor VELO4 for it and started carrying it yesterday. I have 1,000 rounds through it so far and I love it.
    One thing I will note is that I changed to total metal jacket type ammo for practice. I was getting a LOT of lead build-up on the muzzle end of the barrel using Federal American Eagle FMJ. Switched to Ammo Inc. 124gr TMC and only get carbon fouling with no visible lead fouling.
    Edit to add: I don’t see lead fouling on my X or XL using the same Federal AE. Apparently the comp (brake?) design has something to do with splattering lead from the base of the standard FMJ price tile with exposed lead base.
    I doubt I will add a light, but I am tempted to throw a dot on it.

Fast forward to now I have bought the components to convert my p365 trigger system into any size gun I want. Bought the XL upper a year ago and now I have the xl and macro grip modules to go with the original p365. The absolute best carry system, can change my setup based on the situation I find myself in.

      Oddly enough I remember seeing multiple people try to simulate a drop with the OG P320 and they failed to replicate the problem. It definitely existed, and the possibility of it wasn't worth the risk but people in the gun community are complete monkeys when it comes to issues like that...they acted like if you looked at the gun wrong it would fire.
      Personally I shoot the P320 really well, but I am not sure I can get myself to buy one. Especially with Radian now making the Ramjet I have been leaning towards just grabbing a G45 and calling it a day.

      @@Osprey1994 I shot my brother-in-law's M18. Gotta admit, it was really nice.
      My problem with sig comes from visual evidence of multiple different platforms having horrible QC issues online and personal experience.
      They have a reputation of beta testing on customers too. That's why theres 42069 versions of the 365. I've had 2 of the original strikers that had to be replaced because they snapped. Eventually they changed the design but they didn't issue a recall or do anything through the proper channels of PR
      I also had to get a new gas block for my Gen1 mpx because it blew out the taper pin holding it to the barrel. They fixed the issue in the Gen 2 and 3 but again, didn't issue a recall or a warranty. You'd think for a $2k gun I'd get better customer service

The p320 sc and the x macro are the same size from top of rack to bottom of grip to front of slide to back of slide but the p320 only holds 12+1, feels clunky and my pinky finger can't fit on the grip at all. I will say the p320 doesn't print as badly because the grip is much shorter but I live in Maine which is a constitutional carry state so I'm not too worried about it I just try to not let people see it to keep people comfortable. Got the sig romeo zero elite sight on it and a vedder iwb holster that fits perfectly.

      Only issue as a duty gun I could see would be parts longevity. Lower reciprocating mass = higher slide speeds which mean more wear and tear on internal components. Not a huge issue for CCW guys but for a department issue it would increase their cost per pistol with higher replacement part schedule.

    As an FYI for those that want to modify an X-Macro grip module to install a manual safety equipped FCU into the X-Macro, it won't fit. In addition to the cut-outs for the safety levers, you'll need to machine down the backside thickness of the safety levers themselves and the sides of the grip module where the safety lever swings up and down. It can be done, but its a PITA.

    So I own the xl, and honestly think I’m going to be getting a regular 365 and just the macro grip module +mags. Then I can mix and match all 3 grips with both slide lengths. Though I will say that the “comp” is interesting, as is keeping the rear sight… just not sure if it’s worth it when I already have the xl.

      Just FYI, the Macro grip module won’t work on the standard 365 or X length slide. It will install, but the rail is longer on the Macro module. It will protrude beyond the end of the slide/muzzle.

  • @calangel
    @calangel Рік тому +1

    You can buy the grip module and the mags by themself at this time. The handle is getting a bit too long to do what a 365 was initially marketed to do IMHO.

    SIG did do a ported P365, the first run of the SAS model. Met with a lot of concern from the "it'll kill you in retention shooting and blind your unborn grandchildren" types. Probably why they didn't try again.

    I carry a standard size p365. My hands are not large, I can get half my pinky on the grip even with the flush mag. That's more than adequate for me. My P365XL has one of the best feeling grips for my hands. But I still prefer to conceal my P365. (I'm 5'10", ~130lbs, thin.) The XMacro is more grip than my hands really need. But I still want one, cuz, why not?!

    I agree the XL full length barrel offers longer sight radius, higher velocity and easier to maintain. Send it out for magnaporting for truly functional compensation that doesn't obscure one's central sight picture. Lose the red dot and swap out the front sight for a big tritium Night Fission in bright yellow phosphor luminescence.

    I talked mom just got the xmacro. It feels much better to her than her Glock17. I like the grip much better than my 365XL as well. Within a minute i put my slide on the xmacro grip. This is the way. I found the grip online for like 50$.

    Unfortunately they probably won't put the slide up for sale for a bit, hopefully it's a tad cheaper than the Specter comp slide. Reason being is that it would cost me nearly as much as the Specter comp slide if I were to buy all the parts needed to put a XL slide on my setup, and even more if I wanted the slide that keeps the rear sight dovetail. With these new slides I can keep my barrel, pick up the recoil spring and the slide and be done.

    I have the Sig Sauer P365X with the Wilson Combat grip module and the Magguts kits and that reliability gives me 14+1 rounds and that’s perfect for me! It’s easily concealable and very comfortable to carry in my Tenicor Velo4 appendix holster! I honestly don’t see any reason to go with this new Sig, the only downside to mine is the loss of the rear sight when adding my optic!

    So, I'm not a big dude and the P365XL is about the perfect size carry gun year-round. I want the Macro slide to drop onto my XL, I have to carry +P ammo if I want to be covered by my agency in the event of an off duty shooting. I'm thinking I might buy the Macro, swap slides so the XL has the Macro slide and the Macro frame has the XL slide, and use the full size gun as a home defense gun my wife could also use.
