    Plugin Alliance is another company that's started to ride its coattails. Its back-catalog plugins are showing their age; not because they suddenly sound bad but because they don't stand out in 2022, and, as you pointed out, the UIs often don't scale or resize and tend to look dated. They're really subscription fodder at this point. I can't imagine anyone buying, say, the Brainworx V3 EQ for in 2022, even at the discounted price. There are a few gems, but those are fewer and farther between than they ought to be.
    They keep sending me vouchers and I keep filling my cart but then at checkout I stop for half a second and realize I was about to impulse-buy and I come to my senses.

    • @massivebeatzz
      @massivebeatzz  2 роки тому +1

      Great that you revise your impulses.... it's always 30 dollars, a few times a week. There are other companies that are making products that are insanely professional compressor, limiters and EQ's, reverbs that cannot be beat...Softube/Weiss, Eventide, Sonible, Baby Audio, Newfangles, DMG, TFR, Voxengo.

      There's a sale that ends today, and it covers so many plugins, but are there any that I should definitely get? Or should I just invest in better versions from different brands? For example, I heard the HG-2 saturator is amazing, but should I wait and get Decapitator when that goes on sale instead?

      I never could fully connect with them (A or Green) for Mastering (what they get advertised for). On Drums, I must admit, sometimes I like my Green SHMC quite a bit, especially Hip Hop. Even Bass. For Mastering none of them are close to say Kotelnikov GE or the Weiss in terms of precision, versatility for me to say it is a must have. Nice to have? Heck yeah.

    Great video thanks. I am pretty much in agreement with you about the plugins. You said the Lindell 50 was your favorite... What is your new favorite channel strip?

    • @massivebeatzz
      @massivebeatzz  2 роки тому +3

      Thanks, much appreciated. The Lindell API (50) is still it, as far as PA plugins. I use SSL Channel Strip 2 9000XL plugin with UF8 with UC1 however because of the integration (and sound). But if I am traveling and only in the box (laptop), then it's the API 50. Also really like the PA SSL 9000J plugin. It's got that smooth low end. If I had ONLY one plugin to do everything, I would choose Andrew Scheps Omnichannel.. It really has everything.

    Do you happen to know about how often PA does Mega Deals throughout year? Started using Mega Bundle and got a $249 voucher but don’t really want to waste on one or two plugins. Great video, btw do you have like a Top 5 list (obviously I’m assuming Lindell 50 is one of those). Not trying to copy you or anything I’m more or less just trying to get an idea whether to stick with bundle or just get what I need and not renew next time around, should’ve watched this before doing subscription. This is such a time saver rather than demoing everything

    • @massivebeatzz
      @massivebeatzz  2 роки тому +3

      I am glad this is useful - that was my intent. I think Mega Sales come once a quarter, so 4 x a year - I could be wrong. I definitely recommend waiting for those to use your voucher, so you can get several plugins, and stick to the newer ones. After that, wait for the 29.99 per plugin sale, on the older plugin. They don't include newer plugins, but you can pickup some great ones. And they usually do it three days in a row. That way, you don't have to use your voucher on any of these type of plugins. Also, I would recommend - since you already have the subscription, use them all and see how they work for you. It's a great way to practice. Testing is one thing, but actually using them - that is what we are looking for... Channel strips that are amazing: Lindell 50, Amek 9099 and SSL 4000J. Not in that order. EQ's: must have - Dangerous BAX. Greta to have: Knif Soma, Amek 200. Compressor: Townhouse, SPL Iron and the best: Vertigo the blue one ;) Saturator and character Magic: Neold Warble, Big Al. Yes many like that - but this sounds better. Always sounds good. On anything. Also great - Black Box MS version. Delay: Their 2500 delay is amazing... Bassamps are good too! Metric AB - game changer. Everything else you can skip.

      @@massivebeatzz Yea I just had a discount from Avid so I used it, I’m really not planning on keeping the sub. But I do like some you mentioned. The Dangerous Music BAX EQ I have, what do you think about the LTL Chop Shop EQ? Or Lindell 80?

    • @massivebeatzz
      @massivebeatzz  2 роки тому +2

      @@tcos332 Chop Shop's are great! Awesome for doing an entire mix session without distractions. Lindell 80 was a bit too distracting for me and hard to grab the knobs sometimes (as many Neve emulations are - they are authentic, but it works better in a hardware). Also I think they still don't make the GUI Hi-Res and Scalable... Last time I checked. Could be wrong. That said, many people swear by the Lindell 80, it gets a lot of praise for those looking for that Brit sound.

      @@massivebeatzz yea I think it’s modeled after the 80 series Consoles that were really popular from like 70’s to 90’s. I was just curious what you thought about it. I have a couple 1073’s out of a 500 Series, but that’s all I’ve got for HW to reference on sound quality between the two. I honestly want that Chop Shop EQ in my 500 chassis. They’re a steal for the modules, but good luck finding them

      I must also chirp in... I got the Unfiltered Audio Sandman Pro. Absolutely love it. It's the best delay plugin I own. I've been buying delay plugins for years now and could never really find something that sits in the mix like Sandman Pro. I don't use any of the fancy features though. It gets me from zero to the perfect delay sound in seconds. I used to sit and tweak and tweak and tweak with other delays...

    There is a LOT of snake oil on PA. The more I use it, frankly the less impressed I am. Brainworx are especially guilty of it. There's more than a few plugins they produce that vaguely claim to be "magical betteriser"-type plugins that are literally just a fixed-band EQ (bx_refinement and bx_shredspread being the first that spring the mind, the latter adding the useful feature of fucking up your stereo phase too).

      @@massivebeatzz the green one is not fit for mastering due to the knee of the compressor even I don't like the hardware on my master bus unless it's a very bass heavy electronic master for example the green one vca on a ratio of 1:2 is equivalent to a ratio of 4:1 and that's talking about the hardware which I analyzed and they both behave like this while analysing them but the red one was faithfull to the ratio for example a ratio of 2:1 was equivalent to a ratio of 1:8:1 during my testing which suffice to say you'll be missing out on the red one just make sure not to use the opto unless it's on a bass or electric guitar since it adds a 12khz high pass filter which the green doesn't do.
