Thanks for the row round of the PA catalogue. I do have a number of their plugins and still continue to use a few but, by and large, they've all fallen out of favour with me because they don't update them and/or release updates as new plugins. As you say in the video, a lot of the GUIs are just unusable and some of the plugins really need things like oversampling. The 3 that I do still use pretty much on every mix are the Purple MC77, the Lindell 80 and METRIC AB. The other I occasionally use are the SPL Iron, the Lindell 50, the Lindell X channel, and the ampeg SVT VR.
Embarrassingly that's less than half of the PA plugins I own.
Oh, and the other issue with PA is that their installer doesn't tell you when the plugins have an update. Going through that list I've just noticed a number of plugins have multiple updates which I didn't know about (none of which address the issues I mentioned above)
Thanks - and I appreciate you putting that in writing. And a couple those plugins that you use, Lindell and Metric, they actually did get an update (Metric got a big one), but that's not PA's credit, it;s Adamo, the 3rd party developer. There are so many plugin companies, small, that do a lot for their customers....exampel Hornet - Saverio talks to his customers and adds features in a couple of days. When Tape MK2 came out peopel complained that they still want the sound of Mk1, and so he added a "Mk1" on and off switch.
@@massivebeatzz yup, I actually got myself on to the beta program for METRIC AB because I was getting so frustrated with how long it was taking for the update. And I mean update, not upgrade, because there were some pretty annoying bugs which meant I had to revert back to a previous version just to get it working. As you say, PA aren't the developer (although effectively I think they are or were for the bx stuff) but as I've got more serious with my mixing and mastering I really need a set of tools that I can rely on. That's got me moving to companies who keep their plugins up to date both in terms of features and bug fixes and I've slowly dropped most of my PA plugins from regular use.
But I still have a soft spot for PA and think there are a few gems in their catalogue which you've mentioned in the video so that's great signposting for somebody looking to buy.
@@massivebeatzzis the license perpetual or subscription based?
@@mra1782 perpetual, in this case.
