I’ve thought fondly about the Clicks for a long time. What stops me from pulling the trigger is none of the cons you mentioned. It’s the phone size. I deliberately downsized my iPhones 2 years ago to the SE 2022. I’ve used iPhones since the beginning and they get bigger every year. I find the smaller SE size fits my life style - fits in a pocket, has a home button, easier to hold, etc. Why don’t they make one for the SE models? Would likely feel like a BB Key 2!
Thanks for watching - size is definitely a big consideration when considering this case. It’s tough even for me to wield my phone like I used to with the Clicks installed, hence why I still bring my old case with me to switch go when I’m on the go!
Have you looked at the Blueberry keyboard? it's an open source 3d printed bluetooth/USB keyboard that uses new-old stock blackberry Q10 keyboards and trackballs. it uses magnets to clamp onto the bottom of your phone. it supports 4 devices, it has the trackball of the BB Q10. absolutely packed with features. the only thing that is somewhat of a drag is that you have to stick a metal plate onto the back of your phone, and you need to remove the keyboard if you want to use the USB port of the device or the iphone. it might also make your phone even taller, but ofc you can just snap the keyboard off and stick it in your pocket when it's not needed.
If you were able to get your hands on one you should make a video for the updated version for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Curious to see if the updates actually mitigated some of the cons you mentioned in this video
I will hope that someday they design a slightly rugged version of this case and if it’s somehow possible to remove keyboard for cleaning I think they would nailed 100%
I am typing this comment on the Clicks. I like it so far, but the lack of MagSafe support bugs me. Plus my first and last physical keyboard on a phone wasn’t a blackberry, but the LG Voyager from Verizon, so this feels a tad small. Maybe one day a landscape sliding version with MagSafe?
Hello fellow Clicks owner! I’ve managed to use MagSafe when the phone is flat, but the Clicks does make it too heavy to use on an upright MagSafe mount. There’s definitely a lot of cool things they can do with this hardware in the long run, it’ll be interesting to see how it develops with time!
I’m still eagerly awaiting mine in the mail, since I have a 14 pro max. Hopefully shipping soon! I used to have an old Samsung alias so I’m hoping the key size won’t be too much of a detriment
I’m fine with wireless CarPlay but cable charging is a necessity for me. There not room for a large wireless charge pad. It’s odd, it charges fine the first time after connecting the clicks to the noon, but if you then remove power and reattach it, it won’t recognize it or charge again until you disconnect the keyboard again.
I love the idea, but I'd really like a Clicks that puts the keyboard on the side, rather than the bottom. If Gen2 Clicks has a side keyboard I might consider one for sure

@@VictorioLopes Yeah I totally agree with you. Almost all of my previous smartphones were plus sized, but this time around I went with a regular iPhone 15 Pro because I'd assume this case would make the Pro Max ridiculously big. If Apple still made mini iPhones I would've bought one in a heartbeat, would've been perfect for clicks 😔
Potentially - one of the benefits of the case was the fact it didn’t need external power and just used the iPhone as a power source, plus it adds a fair bit of heft already!

Thanks. I have been dying for a physical keyboard since the last great Blackberry. I can't stand typos and auto-correct when it keeps changing my text almost every time to the wrong word. Will give this a shot.
Those limitations are only on iPhone 15. On iPhone 14 with a Lightning port, it can do charge and data both. The flexible case thing isn’t really a thing. I’ve ONLY ever used those sorts of cases with zero problems.

As for the material: I’ve had flexible cases like this before too, however, it’s slightly different here seeing as that material is securing the phone to the base and it’s weighty components, not just holding the phone!
The connectivity is the main problem. Only power pass through sucks. We use our ports for many purposes, data transfer, carplay like you said(big time effects daily role) , atleast they could've made it an usb 2.0 for using basic functions of port. For an asking price of 199 canadian, that's way overpriced . The idea is good but application is bad for the price.

Nice video. Thank you. Do you think the version for the iPhone 16 would be the next generation? Or would it just be the same one made for the dimensions of the 16?
Thank you! I think it’ll depend if the iPhone 16 ends up being the same size dimensionally as the 15: if so, then this case will just plug and play with it. If they change something enough though, they would need to produce a new version of the case. We’ll find out in a months’ time when the keynote happens I guess!

No MagSafe, I mean, how is that even possible? Mr. Mobile rails against manufacturers removing functionality that people want, then creates a case without MagSafe or full functionality of the port.
It does work, but only if you’re charging with the phone on a flat surface. The case is too heavy to allow for MagSafe to hold it in place on an upright charging stand - but nonetheless, it’s a big missing feature!
@@ADesignersLife I bet the strong MagSafe options I use for charging at home and mounting in my car would be able to hold up the weight. Seems like a crazy omission, especially since they were able to add it into the iPhone 16 models. They also updated the port to include pass-through functionality of the USB-C port, and updated the buttons further.
I got one of these for my iPhone pro max. While liked the idea of it, it really is an ergonomic disappointment. It totally changes the balance of the iPhone and makes it top heavy. The keyboard sits too low for the phone and it is not comfortable to use. Also it is not compatible with corded CarPlay which means when you go to use it in your car you have to switch cases. I suspect this device will work best for small phones but certainly not big ones. The case itself offers very minimal protection.

In all seriousness this is going to be a one generation product that fails nobody is going to buy it.
Upgrading your phone every year is a terrible financial decision. New phones don't stop people from buying the new cases and other accessories that only fit the new phones.
I mean with this logic 90% of phone cases for iphones are essentially useless given that new models, at least for the past few years, have external design differences that require a new case. The idea is if a consumer is willing to invest that much $ into a new phone, they will be inclined to spend a few more hundred bucks for an updated version of the case. Thus, they will deliberately not offer a "trade in" deal / cross-generational support. Every company does this. This is how you optimize sustained sales without actually having to update the features of your product
It CAN do MagSafe - if the phone is laying flat on a surface. If you want to use a stand up charger (one that would allow you to rotate the phone into standby mode, for example) then the case is too heavy and it pulls off.
Definitely not pointless. Allows you to type faster/more efficiently and use keyboard shortcuts for more efficiency. Also, tactile buttons allow better accuracy.

This is how you optimize sustained sales without actually having to update the features of your product
Deal breaker for the price no MagSafe compatible!? It’s absurd
It CAN do MagSafe - if the phone is laying flat on a surface. If you want to use a stand up charger (one that would allow you to rotate the phone into standby mode, for example) then the case is too heavy and it pulls off.
Wired AirPods unlocked a new level of cursed in my head… Goddamn!
I know a few people who refuse to give them up still… wild, right?! 😅
EarPods 🙄🙄🙄
@@1javixD Exactly! 😅
The OGs.
Price is the BIGGEST negative.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I think it’s pretty fairly priced, but it’s certainly not a cheap product!
Absolutely junk and pointless
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
Definitely not pointless. Allows you to type faster/more efficiently and use keyboard shortcuts for more efficiency. Also, tactile buttons allow better accuracy.
why would someone wants to increase their phone length. Seems unusual
There’s pro’s and con’s to it, no doubt about it. The size is a big factor but you do get a lot of additional function from it!
@@ADesignersLifeBeen using clicks for a month and now I cannot use my phone without it. My phone feels so small and hard to grip, at first the size is jarring but then it wears off.
You definitely get used to having the case on, no doubt about it!!
Cool unnecessary inventions 😂
It’s pretty cool and practical too!
