Congrats on the launch!! Very cool to see, and I can't think of a more natural, related product launch from the "When Phones Were Fun" guy. Best of luck!
Istg this is the most on brand company/product a UA-camr ever launched. You didn’t sell shoes or shirt, you really sold something dear to you. Props to you Michael
As a 13 mini user this would be great for the mini lineup as we could use the extra space way more than the rest of the iphones! Hoping to see a release for 13 mini as well :)
I think it would work better on the mini. I have a 15 pro max. I ordered early for the founder edition. I waited months and it arrived today. It is ridiculously huge and just not functional with the 15 pro max. It's just too awkward in size and balance. I think this would be perfect for the mini. I regret buying it for the 15 pro max.
As a blind person and a creator, I am in love with the idea of this product. I want this for every single phone I own. I miss tactile keyboards on phones!
@@chetolicious We can still use the touch screen to type with VoiceOver or Talkback - the mobile screen readers, but it would definitely be nice to have a tactile experience. Also, it would be really neat if we could use the keyboard for controlling the screen reader which I assume is possible since they already have built in keyboard commands. :)
I cannot imagine how much this is going to be a hit among the people who can barely see or who have completely lost their sight, or never had it from birth. I can see it being a LITERAL game changer with the addition of the shortcuts especially…like wow. Yeah! I love this comment. Super important to highlight, & I think more people than just business moguls will end up wanting to have one. I think this will be THE accessory of 2023/2024 to have/own. ❤
Unfortunately It's pretty unlikely that I'd ever own the NEWEST phones to be able to take advantage of Clicks, but I love that these exist and truly wish you and the company the best into the future! Thank you for bringing some real innovation to the smartphone landscape 🎉
I am a blind person who was using a Blackberry smartphone because of its keyboard. I badly missed everything on the phone ever since it is gone. but you guys made my dream come true! thank you so much for this.
@@Ash_Reinthe only overly negative person here is you, OP is simply appreciating the new product, as it helps with accessibility (among other things).
actually @@Ash_Rein I never mentioned or said blind every blind person. I just said its me, and me is me alone. and thats my personal opinion which I think I don't need to correct. now coming to the point, yes I agree that a lot of blind people have moved to the touch screens, and that is because unavailability of smartphones with a physical keyboard. after all, not just for blind, typing on a touch screen is not as convenient as it is on the physical keys in genral for everyone.
I can't wait for this to come to Android. Also, I think you missed a great chance to include a headphone jack in the case, seeing as it's already connected to the charging port. That would have made this almost perfect imo
@@imstupidbut but there are a lot of people who might love that feature or even just love to have that option because there might be people who just don't want a physical keyboard also but this product gives the small fraction, who might want it, an option
I was thinking the same thing. this will go best with the mini phones. and if it also helped with a little bit of battery juice mini will also last longer.
Unfortunately, I just don't see how they could dedicate time and resources getting this manufactured for a phone size that's deprecated by Apple. I'm on 12 mini myself.
Hi MrMobile! We have a lot of case-battery packs for company iphones that fits like your keyboard and the main problem is that the lightning plug breaks when someone try to take off the case not by sliding up, but taking phone from the front. It is a design flaw and sadly i see it in Clicks. Think about fixing it by making the lightning plug tiltible a little. Ideas for the sequel - headphone jack, usbc port next to lightning
@@serena5874honestly, you just fixed it. The clicks case but with a keyboard that attaches using strong magnets and contacts ! Then when you want to stow it away, just unCLICK the keyboard and put both in your pocket… it’s a good idea!!
Been following you for 10 years, and it’s so nice to see you launch a product of your own. A very “Michael Fishery” product, too. Congrats, man! Genuinely glad to see your journey through these years
I know the market is absolutely tiny but I would have loved it if you guys went back to the 13 series and made one for the 13 mini. If any iPhone needs a physical keyboard to free up space while typing it's the mini series. Either way though, I do love that you're doing this and it looks great!
Really good point regarding the mini being the phone that needs Clicks most! Sadly, the future of that category is so uncertain, we couldn't start out with it. Need to stay focused on the volume categories ... at first!
Interesting, as, if 0.5% of all iPh14 users are the potential target group, probably 10-12% of all iPhMini users would give this a go (which one is more in q-ty speak, I really couldn't tell).
Same. I swear I saw one suspiciously smaller unit on one of the “table of prototypes” shots, so here’s hoping. I really like that camera-inspired leather grip strip too. I used to favour landscape slider keyboards back in the day but miming out the width just now I think a Palm Pre style like this does work better for the height to width ratio of the iPhone mini.
Any chances of it being made semi-universal, case being replaceable or somehow adjustable while hardware is widely similar also for android and adding 3.5mm jack?
So extremely well thought out. The fact you didn't just stop at it being a physical keyboard and included shortcuts and actual accessibility features is excellent.
@@rhaibi12no, what he meant was that ANY physical keyboards you use on iOS will have the shortcuts... Meaning it would be impossible to make a keyboard that don't go to home if you do CMD+H. So it's not an added feature they did, it just expose iOS built-in shortcuts.
I would kill for something like this, but in landscape. Like a cover with a slide out keyboard that also doubles as a lens cover when retracted. The only thing i miss about older phones is typing in landscape.
I have a setup with this on my LG G8X with second display feature (basically another screen in a case). Its pretty neat but sadly lacks the tacitly of a physical keyboard.
I mean, it’d be great because typing on something wider feels more natural but the iPhone has become nearly useless in landscape mode with the last updates (homescreen is vertical only, wasted screen space due to the Dynamic Island, …)
Imagine if you could have a keyboard for most of the center in landscape and then little touch-area trackpads on either side for gaming or just navigating the phone in general with a mouse cursor.
Smaller phone needs this keyboard much more! I have 13 mini and wouldn’t buy 14 and up just for a case but I’m still very interested if mini case is coming out. 😢
Hey Michael Fisher, Mr. Mobile! I've been following your journey since the early days at Pocketnow. Your transition from a professional actor to one of the most insightful tech reviewers on UA-cam has been incredible. Your unique blend of in-depth knowledge, on-location shoots, and engaging content has kept me hooked. Your commitment to delivering top-notch mobile technology insights is truly appreciated. It's inspiring to see how you've evolved and maintained your passion for technology, all while staying true to your unique style. Here's to more years of fantastic content from you!
I completely agree. Whilst I also like other tech reviewers, it's mostly shots of the phone on a table, or them speaking to the camera. I like how Michael takes us on trips across America with every new review, and provides us with fun anecdotes of his journey and nice footage as well. His videos are more than "tech reviews", and it's nice.
As a cancer survivor of Late Stage 4 Berkitts Lymphoma. With all the extreme amounts and many types of chemotherapy medications and radiation. I lost at least 30 to 40% of my feel/touch sensors. So when blackberry died. I was heartbroken. Thank you for this. I will be so elated once I order and get mine
Nice product. As a functional eyesight specialist in the UK, I have to say that this could be really useful for people who are visually impaired and need a tactile keyboard. This has been missing from phones for a while and the omission has been quite disabling for some people. Well done! And thank you.
As someone who misses his Blackberry's keyboards even to this day, this is a welcome accessory ! It's a shame Apple disconinued the Mini series of iPhones. Clicks would've really shone brightly on that device ! Congratulations to you and the Team, I'd hope to see your product in phone case retailers !!
Would have been an instant buy for me had there been a mini. I know we are in the niche, but I work in the tech industry and plan to keep my 13 mini until the day it is no longer supported.
Should have included the MagSafe. Especially for the price. Including an input jack would be great as well. Let’s hope this become a success and 2nd version would include those two mentioned.
This looks sick - hoping to see both landscape and portrait slider Qwerty's in the future also! That would solve the length problem, if not the thickness problem, at least
How would it slot in though and would you be able to grip it easily? Though I do like the idea of having a big keyboard. Very few typing errors. And to potentially be able to use it as a games and media controller... 🫡
I heard about this on Vergecast and I knew I had to check it out! Cool product. I’d love to see MagSafe availability so I can still use the MagSafe Popsocket. I could get IPhone Pro (instead of the Max) cause I won’t be losing screen space with virtual keyboard. Also, Michael, you have the best radio voice. So relaxing, yet very engaging to listen.
I miss physical keyboards so much, and I had the Blackberry Bold. This is an instant check out for me. So glad you're making physical keyboards a thing again!
This would be perfect for the 12/13 mini without making the phone gigantic, I can’t imagine how big the Pro Max models are going to be with this case, it’s sort of why the BlackBerry Priv form factor worked so well
Congratulations on the launch! Would I buy if available for Google Pixel? Most definitely I would 😊. That is a fantastic product. I really miss a physical keyboard like back in the day.
Congrats man! I've been following you for years and this looks great. Also it was really nice to meet with you during last year's Iphone launch. Can't wait for what you'll do next
I was working in a company owned AT&T store as a sales person when the very first iPhone was announced. I remember being *so excited* by the keynote. The one thing I was skeptical of was the keyboard. And then it launched and the frenzy was insane just like it is still today when a new one launches. And then, as I spent time with it, I realized i was right to be skeptical about the keyboard, especially in those early days. It has fotten better but even still, everything you said about "why do this?" are exactly the same things I have been griping about since all the way back then in 2007. I _still_ would rather have a physical keyboard even now and the BlackBerry Bold was my all time favorite keyboard. I got so good with that keyboard, I could send emails with my hands under a conference room table while in a meeting without anyone knowing. People who were avid T-Mobile Sidekick users will also attest to this. Physical keyboards are just better. People who have never used one are not going to understand this. But I, for one, cannot wait to see an Android version of this. I haven't owned an iPhone since I left AT&T in 2012. So, please _please_ hurry up and make the Android version of this. I even made some typos in this comment but I'm going to leave them. Those are mistakes i would not have made with a physical keyboard.
I'm have been using a DIY keyboard attachment quite similar to this on my Android phone for the last 4 years or so. It's night and day, the difference between typing on a keyboard and a touch screen. I sometimes use the touch keyboard (e.g. when I want to type silently) and I absolutely hate it when I have to do so.
I’ve been waiting for this since the death of blackberry when I migrated it iPhone. I think there are still a lot of people who miss physical keyboards. Brilliant ideas! I’m ordering one!
My very first thought going into this is why didn't they make a landscape model that slides out?? As someone that owned the Touch Pro 2, Droid Pro, Droid 2, and the Evo 4g slide; I enjoyed the sliders more. Although I'm still reserving one of these, as I enjoyed the Droid Pro, and want to see a slider edition in the future.
You know, as someone who's watched your videos for over half a decade and one who's aware of your natural inclination towards tactility when it comes to the overall typing experience, I am not surprised * at all * about this move from your side.. It just feels like a natural progression. Kudos my man @mrMobile ! So happy for you 🎉 Love and hugs from India !!
I am one of those geeks that would buy such a keyboard if an android version is out for sale. Love to see how it works out in iPhone and Android. So many features can be added to this keyboard : customized shortcuts for individual letter key ; swipe sensitivity like that in a blackberry passport ; RGB back-lid controlled by designated app by Clicks
I wish there was a slide version, that would be so nostalgic and useful, allowing the user to use the phone in landscape mode but still keeping the screen in full screen mode without the on screen keyboard limiting the view. That would increase productivity sooo much, while also being interesting, fashionable, and nostalgic.
Man the blackberry Q10 was the best screen and keyboard phone I ever owned. Perfectly weighted, 1:1 screen ratio, and a phone that made you so efficient you could just get things done
Straight up facts. I miss that phone. Everything I NEEDED was there and easily accessible to get shit done. I wish BB OS was still supported and we could have them as a viable option. I've been waiting a long time for someone to finally bring out a physical keyboard case for the iPhone.
I would love to have this if it had a small trackpad button like Blackberry. It could be placed in the space button. Having that gesture to highlight text and paste it using shortcuts will bring a lot of user experience rather than navigating through text using screens. Maybe on the next version of this, it can be implemented :)
As a former blackberry user I would jump for joy to get my trackpad button back! Highlightin text, deleting a specific letter etc. was so easy with a BB and I really miss that
Congratulations Michael! I haven't used an iPhone since 2013 -- loved the variety of form factors and OEMs that came with using Android and Windows Phone, especially with foldables nowadays. And I honestly never thought about going back to or reintegrating iPhone into my rotation, really at all for the foreseeable future. But Clicks is totally making me rethink that :) And the fact that you're behind this carries a lot of weight and credibility with me in terms of the design and quality I imagine this will have. Can't wait to try it! Thanks for doing your part to make phones (even iPhones for this Android user!) fun again. 🙌
Michael himself is an Android user. He would not like you to switch to iPhone. Clicks is released for iPhone first purely due to market reasons. It will come for other devices. Wait.
Love this. $150 seems a bit steep for what is essentially just a phone keyboard. Would love to see it maybe at the $100 flat price tag. However as someone who likes to occasionally type stuff up quickly in bed but wishing I had a physical keyboard on my phone. I also have many other use cases where I feel like I could use it. I may be buying this product!
Yea, I think it's high. But in the volumes they're likely to ship with this, I don't think it's unreasonably high. So few people are gonna buy this thing that needing to recoop R&D and manufacturing costs is probably where the bulk of that price point is coming from.
Thaaaank you! I’ve been complaining about this for years I’m so tired of basic apple phones or all “smart”phones in general they’re boring now . I need this !
Just trying to help out by just stating something that may arise down the line, Lots of dead stock/parts (assuming all other parts are reused except the silicone case & lightning ports) as models change due to compatibility issues. The keyboard part could've been a seperate and the case could've been seperate connected together the same way Pixel pad connects with the speaker dock. This also would've helped in the balance bit and it could've been broken while not in use. The port+case could've been a single unit, this way you could've got just had cases for different phones and the keyboard coulve been reused. Now the issue for me as a customer is, if I pay the money for a 14 pro and 1 year down the line I buy 16 pro, the case will be useless for it due to the port and the case dimensions.
Good points! I wonder if they'll enable a "pre-owned" marketplace to help upcycle Clicks, connecting those who want Clicks but are on older phones, and those who are upgrading from an older phone to a newer one.
It’s funny you say this because I was just about to pre order but then took into consideration, I get a new phone every year, and I sell my previous years phone to someone who wants that model. Now I would have to sell my phone, AND sell the click, and given that this will be relatively niche it will likely end up being in the trash as a total waste of $150 every single year. I LOVE the product and idea. But having to waste resources and completely throwing out $150 for a simple keyboard just doesn’t seem wise to me. Now if I was someone who keeps their phones for a few years at a time, and likes to type a lot this is a fantastic product. It’s just given that it’s all one piece and nothing is reusable it makes it that much more niche. If the keyboard was instead a separate piece that can transfer and all I needed to buy was the case every year for like $40 or something now that I would buy.
@@brendencamastro3028If Clicks combined an upcycle pre-owned marketplace with a credit toward a new Clicks for frequent upgraders, that would be interesting, similar to how phone carriers incentivize folks to upgrade to a newer model every year with subsidies that roll over. Juice may not be worth the squeeze though, depending on customer base and buying habits.
It is intriguing for sure and some part of me is yay give me a Pixel version! But I change Pixels every 2-3 years. Also I'm being more mindful with phone use (more phone use is not good for you as we know) and I connect my SMS and Whatsapp to desktop web equivalents and I can use my mech keyboard. That covers me for 75% of my time. Your point about having the keyboard and case connect is great. That way you retain the keyboard and just get a newer (and less expensive) case when you upgrade your device.
Definitely fair points. One piece like this certainly simplifies production and probably the costs to make, but I agree that being able to have the keyboard separate would be optimal. Bonus points if it could also work wirelessly so you could pop it off and type with your phone on a stand.
Michael, this so SO awesome. And I'm very excited for you and the Clicks team! I've got my fingers crossed for a 13 mini version, but I know that's a tough ask. Best wishes!
Bought mine today. :D Was a real dream for me, best of both worlds. Was using Android Phones only because of the keyboard (Unihertz, and Blackberry before).
Couldn't think of a more on-brand venture for you Michael! Sucks it's only on iPhone, but I totally get why. Thanks for not forgetting the physical keyboard and keeping hope alive!
Michael I can't be more happy for you.. what can't I say.. I see your videos so many years ago 12, I live in Argentina. But I can't believe how many people is following you today.. and well now you are owner of incredible product, congratulations!! I hope to see you 12 years more in your channel and now with your products!! Like we say in my country.. Go for the victory always!
I've been missing torch making me real sad cuz I never liked tap keyboards & I still don't. Can't wait for your Android launching. & thanks a lot for this initiative. I am so glad someone like you launched this idea. Hats off to you!!
Congratulations Michael. Looks pretty good. However, this seems to be a perfect case for the mini series, disappointed that they're not supported. Hopefully they're in the future.
@@razrv3lcno? It would just make it longer. In all honesty, making it for the pro is stupider because it makes that gigantic tablet phone look even more huge. If it was on a mini it would look properly normal and usable.
Let's goooo! Awesome to see so many former BlackBerry employees getting together with you and Kevin to bring something so amazing to life! So much nostalgia just watching this video (and killer production quality! Is that Arlo & James?) Stoked to see this collab, congrats on the launch of your first product, and excited to give it a try! Big day for you and the team, HUGE congrats!
Definitely need to make one for landscape mode. Not sure how difficult it would be but should make one that is more generalized for all phones and less focused on one particular phone. If you were to buy a new phone, you'd have to spend another $150 or so. Just a couple thoughts. Cool idea though.
Landscape mode wouldn't work with modern phones a lot of apps don't even support landscape. Think also how much larger phones have become the width of a phone in portrait is now very similar to the width of landscape keyboards were back in the day.
@@Peter-kn8py Not true about the width of phones. Most phones are very narrow and very tall now. There would be ample room for a landscape keyboard that would be significantly more comfortable than what we had back in the day. Sure holding my old Sidekick 4G next to my current phone shows how tiny it was in comparison, but that only makes it BETTER that we would have far more space to fit in a proper landscape slider. Imagine if the product could bring back physical fingerprint sensors to phones that no longer have them. Many people can't stand Face ID and would prefer to have Touch ID back. A product like this could one day bring that back if these sell well enough.
@@Peter-kn8py We're not talking about forcing anyone to use landscape mode on the UI with a landscape-fit keyboard. If it's designed well, you can totally type on a landscape keyboard while docking the phone in portrait mode.
Ok, I’m just gonna say it, as someone who was lighting fast with physical buttons and now just lacks dexterity to hit pinpoint accurate digital keys, THANK YOU!!!!!!!! I can’t believe it’s taken this long for such a simple solution to come about. Edit: ok, ya had me up until the price. $140 is a bit much. Best of luck to ya. Maybe I’ll catch one a bit later if the price comes down as often does with later iterations.
I was a master at blackberry keyboards. And it did take me sometime to adjust to touchscreens, but that was over a decade ago and I don’t yearn for physical keys anymore. That said, I was intrigued, even knowing how big it would make the phone. I was considering it, even for something I use part time only, till he said the price. At $60-80, I was probably in. At double that, I’ll never buy it.
This idea looks so weird to me, and I can't imagine how or why I would ever want to use it - yet I'm excited to see if people will want it and how it will be received in the marketplace. It's cool that there are people crazy enough to try things like this - and for this reason alone, I hope it's a success.
I have been using a DIY keyboard attachment quite similar to Clicks for ~4 years. It takes a day or two to get used to, but it's night and day compared to a touch screen. Not even close.
@@ericliberty1776 I ran the numbers for my DIY keyboard attachment back when I considered making it commercially. For it to make sense, it has to be in the range of $150. I figured, there is a potential of maybe 10-50k units per year max. The phone market is so fragmented, that even if you pick the top few best selling devices, you'll reach only a fraction of the potential users, so it's hard to sell much more. That amount of units is a pretty difficult middle ground. It's too many units for a little garage company to handbuild them. You need dedicated personel for support, logistics and all that, and you need an actual production line. At the same time, economy of scale doesn't kick in. RnD is still a big factor at that level. It's not like when you produce millions of units, where you can spread all of these costs over all these customers. If this product was made by Samsung and they made millions of that, the price would be lower. But even then, consider the Samsung S7 keyboard cover, which is a much simpler device. But it still had an MSRP of $50 in 2016 ($64 now). And back in the days when there were keyboard phones, the keyboard variant would always be $100-150 more expensive than the touch-only variant. That said, it's understandable if this is too expensive for many people. But the price isn't unfair.
Listening to your channel since early 2000s and boy i still enjoy your script, which i personally think, makes you stand you and worthy to be subscribed to for last 20 years :)
My only concern would be the longevity of the phone USB or lightning port. Putting on or taking off the case means the male and female parts of the connector are always at an angle to each other. The LG V60 with its dual screen had a similar mechanism and its USB port is known to fail for this very reason.
One of the benefits of the Lightning port is that it's really strong, to the point where Apple made a dock to hold the phone purely by the Lighting connector. (And used it in all the Apple Stores to display the phones.) I'm not sure if they still do that with the USB-C port; I haven't been in an Apple Store in 6 months.
Issue is most iphone15 have MagSafe and wear and tear on the usbc could be an issue plus clicks is not 100% compatible with MagSafe. Also, the case will be very bulky to fit in your pockets.😊
I'd love to have this on Android one day (the Pixel line, specifically). Hungarian layout support would also be nice-I don't know how popular it might end up be here, but might as well get that vote in. I also have some ideas for future revisions: - Integrating a touchpad would be nice. It could allow for more reachable scrolling and glide-typing (I find the latter very useful when I only have one hand free). - Any chance for custom-printed and/or more rugged designs? It's effectively replacing a phone case, so having those would be nice.
I would love to see a version for the S23 Ultra which slides out into a landscape keyboard like the Sidekick. I would instantly buy one when it comes out.
I literally google for something just like this everyday! I feel like the next step would be to make it a magsafe accessory version that works with any case. So pumped to try this thing deffinettly buying it.
Oh how much I miss my BlackBerrys, if that is really coming to Androids (specifically the Pixel lineup), I will certainly give it a shot. Even 5 years after making the switch to on-screen keyboards, I still miss the physical keyboard and am reliably faster when I type on my BB Passport or BB Key2.
This is a great idea! Just a suggestion to hide the keyboard as a slider behind the case so sure it will have a bulk but will be of same size! Even try the horizontal slide keyboard idea
This product isn't for me because of being on android but man I love this. I would love a future revision with a slide out board like the older phones and on android. Congratulations on the product. And thank you for making phone fun again!
The fact that this isn't just slide out keyboard that goes below the screen when not in use makes this feel very wrong. When it comes to the on-screen keyboard on Android at least I don't know how it works on iOS I made my keyboard as small as possible and I turned on the number row because apparently you can disable the number row for some reason. Also my current phone has a weird aspect ratio that's definitely not 16x9 so UA-cam videos have black bars on the sides. What this means for typing is that you still get a pretty huge amount of screen space available to you for typing.
I really miss how the keyboard on my BB Key2 can also be used as a trackpad. Being able to scroll without touching, blocking, and gumming up the screen is sooo nice.
Brilliant stuff man, never been a physical qwerty on a phone user myself but I love the design and the result! Wish you all the success with it, absolutely deserved!
Good idea and product. I think you already thought about it, but I'd suggest to use an additional battery instead of metal plate for balancing it, so users can have additional 40% battery.
They will never bring it for Pixels and my bet is that this will remain an iPhone only accessory forever. Reason being that Android is so fragmented and there are hundreds of models released each year. Whereas only 4 iPhone models release each year and each model always becomes the top 5 best seller. Also, Pixels have like 1% market share so that definitely aint happening
@@well7885 You're operating on outdated information. Pixel has been one of the only growing smartphone brands, steadily gaining on Apple. By the end of last year Pixel was clocking 4% of smartphone shipments in North America, more than 10% in Japan. Now obviously that is still smaller than the number of iPhones shipped, but then again Pixel is a brand with some geek cred, so a product like this might be addressing a larger percentage of the Pixel audience than with the iPhone audience.
Seems neat as heck. Honestly would probably be even better on android since there are a absolute ton of physical keyboard shortcuts available. My only iPhone is the 12 mini though so I'll probably wait until it is available elsewhere
I never had a Blackberry, although I was young enough to be part of that generation. Just pressed go on a 15 Pro Max Founders in London Sky. Partly because it looks cool as hell. Partly because you’ve given us so much brilliant content over the years, it’s my way of paying back! Keep up the incredible work, and can’t wait to get it!!
Crackberry Kevin and Mr Mobile giving input on a keyboard case for iPhone is such a beautiful world to live in. I hope this takes off in our mid-00s nostalgia trip this decade is shaping up to be. For future iterations, it'd be cool to see some later Blackberry ideas like space bar fingerprint readers and capacitive touch scrolling implemented if possible. Also, childish side note, had a lot of fun putting swear words into the signature part of the site to see what they look like
I’ve been doing those “signature” word paths as an idle doodle thing (yk, on paper or in the air) ever since I saw the first Swype announcement, so it’s kind of old hat for me now haha. I do like the choice of colour palette on show here though!
Congratulations, Mr. Mobile and the Clicks team. Feedback: As you mentioned in the video, it makes the iPhone longer, could there be a way to keep it tucked in when not in use so that it can fit into the main pocket as opposed to the back pocket?
Congrats Michael. Even though I love physical keyboards, I must say this is a very niche product due to its implementation. Unfortunately making huge phones even bigger in size is not appealing to anyone even though they like the idea of having physical keyboard. So, for version 2 of this product, some improvements are necessary: 1)(must have) Make the keyboard foldable or slideable so it can be hidden when it is not in use, therefore phone length is not affected much and can still fit in a pocket. 2) keyboard could be also a touch pad, like old blackberry phones 3) case can include an additional battery so it can increase the phones battery life as well. 4) a headphone jack would be a killer feature 5) a bluetooth option could also great so the keyboard can be used with other devices very easily
Nice idea Michael! As an old timer who always preferred a solid, clicky keyboard to the finicky onscreen ones, this is a breath of fresh air....now I just need to wait for it to come to Android. I have patience, no rush 😂 Good luck on the launch and thanks for doing this!
I'm so proud of you, Michael! You've created something so cool here. I would order it regardless just to support you, but I'm genuinely excited to use it for my iPhone. Keep it up!
this looks amazing. And one of the most appealing thing for me is the design, the yellow/black one reminds me so much of the good old lumia, it just feels so rounded, so warm in a way
Congrats on the launch! I really like it! I really wanted to have Blackberry Key 2 and waited Blackberry key 3 that was canceled, but really like iOS and Apple infrastructure, so you made my dream come true! Buuuut, now I have 6 different language keyboards on my iPhone and I don’t know how it will work with clicks 🤔 will other languages be on onscreen keyboard? Or will I be able to use clicks without eating screen space with virtual keyboard just need to learn characters places on clicks, as on pc?
Congrats on the launch!! Very cool to see, and I can't think of a more natural, related product launch from the "When Phones Were Fun" guy. Best of luck!

This is bizarro but in the best way. Can't wait to try it out next week! Congrats on the launch-so exciting.

As a 13 mini user this would be great for the mini lineup as we could use the extra space way more than the rest of the iphones! Hoping to see a release for 13 mini as well :)
that would be so cool
as much as I agree its not gonna happen
I think it would work better on the mini. I have a 15 pro max. I ordered early for the founder edition. I waited months and it arrived today. It is ridiculously huge and just not functional with the 15 pro max. It's just too awkward in size and balance. I think this would be perfect for the mini. I regret buying it for the 15 pro max.
as a mini user i agree!! on their website you can request a phone. i just did other and typed in the mini
@@bellaangelina6671 have requested for the same as well, don't think they'll make it for the mini though as mini phones have failed in terms of sales

I'm drooling over this case, but one question keeps me up at night: CAN WE GET A SLIDE-OUT VERSION?!
yes! how do you not have more likes for this? i hope mr.mobile reads this and they make a slide out version. i would be all in!
That's a great idea...
Hopefully on the next iteration
probably more likes if that Version was called the pull out method
And for 13 max pro as well please
Exactly!! You spoke my mind
maybe they'll consider releasing it as a 2.0
As a blind person and a creator, I am in love with the idea of this product. I want this for every single phone I own. I miss tactile keyboards on phones!
I just realized with your comment how game-changing this accesory is for blind folks in a world of touchscreens.
Hi Carrie, same here.
@@blindtechworld Hey there! Fancy meeting you on here. 👍

Shame the 13 Mini is discontinued, would’ve been perfect for this.
If the case had an audio jack pass through, it would have been perfect 🥺
I can't wait for this to come to Android. Also, I think you missed a great chance to include a headphone jack in the case, seeing as it's already connected to the charging port. That would have made this almost perfect imo

I hope this succeeds. Can’t help but wish this was available for the 13 Mini. Would be game changing
I was thinking the same thing. this will go best with the mini phones. and if it also helped with a little bit of battery juice mini will also last longer.
THERE ARE DOZENS OF US!
I want this so bad in the 13 mini. PLEASE

Congrats on the launch man. It's so you, looking forward to trying it out 🙌🏾

A Fishery product with no ties to fishery.
Odd, huh? 😂😂😂
I know the market is absolutely tiny but I would have loved it if you guys went back to the 13 series and made one for the 13 mini. If any iPhone needs a physical keyboard to free up space while typing it's the mini series.
Either way though, I do love that you're doing this and it looks great!
Really like to see this on an iPhone 12/13 Mini.
Really good point regarding the mini being the phone that needs Clicks most! Sadly, the future of that category is so uncertain, we couldn't start out with it. Need to stay focused on the volume categories ... at first!
@@TheMrMobile this makes complete sense from a product and marketing standpoint, but now I am sadly considering upgrading from my beloved mini 😆
Actually, I think the shortcuts were already in iOS, because iPads have them too.
@@TheQuark6789 I understand that. He could have just made it a physical keyboard that slaps on without including shortcuts and features though.
@@rhaibi12no, what he meant was that ANY physical keyboards you use on iOS will have the shortcuts... Meaning it would be impossible to make a keyboard that don't go to home if you do CMD+H. So it's not an added feature they did, it just expose iOS built-in shortcuts.
These shortcuts have been in iOS for years. I’ve been using Bluetooth keyboards on my iPhone at least since the 6 came out.
Okay this is unbelievably cool!! Huge congrats Michael, epic epic product!! 🎉✨🙌🏻
So good to see you here, your content is awesome!!
Like good old days
Copy the name of a classic phone that had that same horizontal keyboard: *sideclicks*
Smaller phone needs this keyboard much more! I have 13 mini and wouldn’t buy 14 and up just for a case but I’m still very interested if mini case is coming out. 😢

I miss my balckberry with physical keyboard … I was so excited when they announced the BB 5G in 2021. So sad they decided to not lunch it 😭
My very first thought going into this is why didn't they make a landscape model that slides out?? As someone that owned the Touch Pro 2, Droid Pro, Droid 2, and the Evo 4g slide; I enjoyed the sliders more. Although I'm still reserving one of these, as I enjoyed the Droid Pro, and want to see a slider edition in the future.
You know, as someone who's watched your videos for over half a decade and one who's aware of your natural inclination towards tactility when it comes to the overall typing experience, I am not surprised * at all * about this move from your side.. It just feels like a natural progression.
Kudos my man @mrMobile ! So happy for you 🎉
Love and hugs from India !!
If one is made for the Google Pixel I am so buying it lol.
Had a blast shooting this with you guys! Congrats on the launch!
Y'all do such great work! Thanks for letting me go crazy with your footage (and, uh, sorry about the occasional screwed-up LUT, lol).
@@TheMrMobile Any Time! and no worries! Everything looks great!
Facts
Straight up facts. I miss that phone. Everything I NEEDED was there and easily accessible to get shit done. I wish BB OS was still supported and we could have them as a viable option. I've been waiting a long time for someone to finally bring out a physical keyboard case for the iPhone.
Still have my Q10. Easily the best phone I’ve used. It was super tough to upgrade to anything else.
Highlightin text, deleting a specific letter etc. was so easy with a BB and I really miss that
It does . I think the space bar has that feature or something
Ohh yeah the trackpad! I miss that one. That was awesome
Wait.
Bro if you guys made a clicks case that is like the sidekick I would totally buy it bc I already use my phone as a mini pc so that would be so nice
Not a bit steep.
It's T.G.H. (Too Goddamn High).
🤣🤣🤣
I think for all the R&D, hardware, etc. $150 is reasonable, but probably the maximum I'd pay.
Funny, I really thought it was reasonable... I guess it's about the value we see ourselves getting out of it
Yea, I think it's high.
But in the volumes they're likely to ship with this, I don't think it's unreasonably high. So few people are gonna buy this thing that needing to recoop R&D and manufacturing costs is probably where the bulk of that price point is coming from.
First shipment is always high.
They need to meet the volume to make it cheap.
Any plans to make the keyboard slide out like the BlackBerry Torch so the phone is not too long?
Huge congratulations brother!...As a qwerty fan myself looking forward to experience this one...

Thaaaank you! I’ve been complaining about this for years I’m so tired of basic apple phones or all “smart”phones in general they’re boring now . I need this !
Just trying to help out by just stating something that may arise down the line,
Lots of dead stock/parts (assuming all other parts are reused except the silicone case & lightning ports) as models change due to compatibility issues.
Best wishes!

should have one for the iphone mini
yeah, it really suits a small phones well.
Then your mini is the size of a pro or pro max which kind of defeats the purpose right?
@@razrv3lcno? It would just make it longer. In all honesty, making it for the pro is stupider because it makes that gigantic tablet phone look even more huge. If it was on a mini it would look properly normal and usable.
I agree, the mini series is a missed opportunity.
Let's goooo! Awesome to see so many former BlackBerry employees getting together with you and Kevin to bring something so amazing to life! So much nostalgia just watching this video (and killer production quality! Is that Arlo & James?)
Stoked to see this collab, congrats on the launch of your first product, and excited to give it a try!
This is pretty sweet especially if you are using your phone for work. Nothing short of a brilliant feeling when typing in a physical keyboard.
Lmao, I thought you were going to say, and for that reason, I'm out, like on Shark Tank😂
@@ibexking69 I guess it was a bit like that. 😅
$139 to $159 seems a high price for an accessory.
Would love to see this evolve into a premium slide out version case... not sure how but still very cool
If done correctly, this shouldn’t be an issue. See 6:40 where he removed the iPhone from the case by peeling back the top
One of the benefits of the Lightning port is that it's really strong, to the point where Apple made a dock to hold the phone purely by the Lighting connector. (And used it in all the Apple Stores to display the phones.)
I'm not sure if they still do that with the USB-C port; I haven't been in an Apple Store in 6 months.
I also have some ideas for future revisions:
- Integrating a touchpad would be nice. It could allow for more reachable scrolling and glide-typing (I find the latter very useful when I only have one hand free).
- Any chance for custom-printed and/or more rugged designs? It's effectively replacing a phone case, so having those would be nice.
Worst case scenario, you just change the layout in software and paint over the buttons if need be or you just intuitively know where they are placed.
A Blackberry Classic-inspired touchpad and home row would be awesome!
I would love to see a version for the S23 Ultra which slides out into a landscape keyboard like the Sidekick. I would instantly buy one when it comes out.
How’s the drop protection with this case? I finally took a bite of the forbidden fruit and got my first iPhone
I was never a hardware keyboard guy myself, but this looks like so much fun! Congrats and I hope it turns out to be a success 💪
Please find out about shopping in Europe, you fellow European 🤩
Whoa! Martin is also here!
I love this. I just got mine and typing on it as i write this. I appreciate the real estate you gain. Proud blackberry user in the past
Founder edition 0940
Do they have for iPhone 14plus??
The white with the clear buttons looks so nice, I wish that was one of the release colors. I also wish there was a version for the 13 Pro :(
This is a great idea!
I really like this concept, would love to see this for older models like the 13
Second that, I would buy now if they had a version for iPhone 13. This is just what I need for my work supplied phone.
Honestly this is cool! nostalgia wise. Pressing buttons was so satisfying back when phones had em. Good luck with your venture.
Good idea and product. I think you already thought about it, but I'd suggest to use an additional battery instead of metal plate for balancing it, so users can have additional 40% battery.
Hope it comes to the pixels one day.... Looks nice and the vibrant colors look amazing, attractive and pleasing to the eyes.
@@well7885So true... We can only hope that one day 😂.
Seems neat as heck. Honestly would probably be even better on android since there are a absolute ton of physical keyboard shortcuts available. My only iPhone is the 12 mini though so I'll probably wait until it is available elsewhere
I can see this being a best seller amongst the reg size iPhone crowd. ...Congrats!
Also, childish side note, had a lot of fun putting swear words into the signature part of the site to see what they look like
Ha! Can't believe I haven't used the signature-maker to swear yet! Thanks for the support.
So, for version 2 of this product, some improvements are necessary:
1)(must have) Make the keyboard foldable or slideable so it can be hidden when it is not in use, therefore phone length is not affected much and can still fit in a pocket.
2) keyboard could be also a touch pad, like old blackberry phones
3) case can include an additional battery so it can increase the phones battery life as well.
4) a headphone jack would be a killer feature
5) a bluetooth option could also great so the keyboard can be used with other devices very easily
