There are extra characters and symbols underneath the shown keyboard characters. Hold on the keys and it will display these. Not all keys have extra characters. I find the 0 held is nice because you can get to the temperature (degrees) symbol. “°”
Switching between the regular keyboard and the floating keyboard with a long press is a game changer for me, serious thanks for this video. Please keep the iPad videos coming. I find your voice soothing and your explanations helpful and easy to implement.
Unbelievable, as an old guy I consider myself pretty savvy with computers. But this blew my mind. I didn’t know any of the features you showed. Just happened to see you channel. I’ll have to watch several more times. Great job. What else do i not know. Getting old is exciting when you can learn new things.
I believe it’s so much fun now for a few reasons. One, we’re too tired to hiking and the such, and for the second one I’m speaking For Me, I will learn something “New” that I already knew….just forgot. 😂😂😂 I have to take screenshots with my phone if there’s quite a few steps In completing a task. 😏 😊
I gather some folks didn’t know about the swipe down feature on the keyboard. You could also mention that some keys, if pressed and held, pop up any accents that apply. I don’t know them all, but pressing and holding a gives 11 accent options, e gives 9, and n produces four accent options.
Turning screenshots into PDF's is a game-changer. Great job pointing out who simple the task is to accomplish. I need to try that on my iPhone more often because I forget the feature is even possible. Same goes with full page PDF's. Keep up the great work!
I just finished leafing through all six hundred and some pages of the user guide for my new iPad and found quite a few things I hope to explore further, which I took screen shots of and put them in photos for reference later. I found that most things it can do I am not interested in since at 84 I have narrowed my hobbies to those I really enjoy.
You never cease to amaze me with the quality of your information. And so easy to watch too. Thank you so much. I have an iPad Air and I use about 1% of its capabilities. More now, thanks to you.😀
I always find it interesting how many videos like this point out how people can use things in the accessibility settings. It just really goes to show how the things needed for disabled people to function also benefit everyone else, and yet we still have to fight for it because it’s seen as a burden and extra work for a small amount of people
THANK YOU!!!!! Your video are so helpful. There are so many things I did not know I could do with the iPad and thanks to your videos I can pass this information along to my 80 year old mother.
Another thing with guided access: if you enable TouchID/FaceID for it in settings, you can double click the top button to use that to get out of guided access quickly.
For keeping extra bookmarks. Top right of screen press the square with the arrow then press add to Home Screen. Can store hundreds of bookmarks that way. Can also group bookmarks together by dragging them on top of each other. Can also type in a new lable for these groups of bookmarks.
Great video, but even better: you make a written version! I hate the current trend to make everything a video, and you’re the only person I’ve come across in this field who offers written options. Thank you!
Thank you soooooooooooo much for an incredibly helpful video. As others here, I've been an iPad user for many years and didn't know most of the tips you shared - I'm so very grateful, my iPad can now be put to more use, keep the excellent videos coming - from another new subscriber 🙂
Thank you for the Guided Access as way to limit a guest or child to be only within an app or buttons etc. 15:20 i forgot about settings not under Accessibility. General, for instance.
I am in despair. I was delighted with your comments about the floating keyboard and how to get rid of it because I’ve been trying for absolutely ages and I have just resorted to shutting down the iPad and opening it up again. I had tried the pinch thing but it didn’t work. Somehow after your video I went back and tried the pinch thing and it did work miraculous. So I’ve been pinching out and pinching in gay abandon for the last week. But now it doesn’t bloody work again, is there any workaround like for the full size keyboard?
Thank you for the interesting video. I’m using an iPad Pro 12,9". How can I change the keyboard so that I can see more characters per key (e.g. e and 3)?
8:06 You can also transfer a document to a Windows PC using the iCloud drive, if you install iCloud on your PC. This is particularly useful, for instance, if you draw a sketch on Freeform or similar, because you then don't need a graphic tablet for sketching on your PC.
I've had my Apple mini keyboard paired to my iPad Pro for many years now. It makes it much easier to type stuff (considering I learned to type before there were personal computers).
1:51 Another useful thing is to tap and hold on a key, to get alternative characters like accented characters for foreign languages (ėẽēęěêèéë on the e character for instance). Also the degree sign ° is on the 0 button.
One feature that I love to use on my iPad 7th gen is that you can use it as second monitor to your Macbook. Alternatively you can also have your Apple Magic Mouse or Trackpad to navigate through both Macbook and iPad at the same time making it easy to multi-task on both devices.
Ha! Ha! I just found this out today mistake, I got so frustrated because I couldn’t find the arrow on my Mac. So I seen something moving on my iPad and there it was, I still don’t know what I pushed to make it do that.
I’m hoping they bring it to the docked keyboard at some point. Would be really useful on larger iPads like the 12.9 Pro. I get used to it on my Surface Pro and when I switch to my iPad realise I have to use the floating keyboard
Thank you! This was very helpful. I just wish there was a way to turn off the pencil app on the iPad. Example if I open notes and touch the screen with my iPad pencil it automatically brings up the pencil set for writing on the screen. I prefer to type all the time
🤯Corner swipe to create screen cap... 🤯 Drawing arrows... 🤯highlighting in straight lines... I've had iPad since the very first and thought I was pretty much up on the features as they've been added. Everyday is a school day - excellent content.
The tips about the keyboard is awesome for me. Often interactive sites that involve filling out forms become impossible to use when the keyboard is in the way.👍🏻❤️🙏💕
Astonishingly excellent learning! This is why I always recommend UA-cam to others, not for its entertainment content but channels like this offer the best virtual classroom better than many schools offer
The one that surprised me the most was adding the peripherals. I’m going to save this to review it a a couple of times to get all of it. Which program do you use for working with PDFs? FYI locals never call it San Fran or Frisco, either. SF is okay or the City. But that’s only good on the West (left) coast. I’m a former Californian living on the East coast now. The City here is New York; Portland is Maine, West coast is Oregon and Berkeley is Berklee College of Music in Boston not UC Berkeley.
UA-cam doesn't often recommend good new channels, but when it does it's channels like this one here! Great useful content! You got yourself a new follower!
Circling an object in photo markup and trying to hold it to perfect and or move the circle does not seem to work on my older ipad; is there an ipad model year minimum where this works?
Awesome, thank you. Now, is there a way to disable screen shot with power/volume buttons? It drives me mad when this happens and I would prefer a shortcut like the one you show at 12:26.
One of the options with Guided Access is also a time limit. Set the limit before starting and then the iPad becomes locked once the timer ends. No arguing about how long it's been.
wow the pdf scan one is super cool! i might do it for reading real books bc i’m a college senior. rip! having ebooks is amazing for carrying everything around😢😊 so is the second pdf one!
If you're using the Microphone you can open Control Centre and tun on the voice isolation. If you use the webcam, you can turn on the lighting and portrait options
Excellent video! Your voice pacing makes the things you discuss easy (well at least easier lol) to understand. So many UTube videos the speaker goes too fast for the viewer (especially if he/she is a novice) to try to follow or understand. Many thanks!
I have this button that I created on my iPhone years ago. I have been trying to delete for ages now. I’m going to follow your steps and see if it works to delete. Thank you!
Thank you so so much for this video. I love using the swipe feature on my phone, but didn’t realise my iPad could do it. Yay! Really pleased!! Now to watch the rest of your video to see what else I can learn.
Thanks 4 this very interesting and informative video. It seems that the "Split Keyboard" doesn‘t work on the M1 iPad Air 5 as well. But it works on my 3rd. iPad 9th. Generation. Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭
I found the floating keyboard by mistake, ( I’m old ) I had to google to find out how to get back to normal🙄 also the floating board I downloaded this when I bought my new iPad .. it can be a pain as it always pops up in the wrong place. But everything else that you’ve covered is great & helpful 👍
Just made me remember that I have got an iPad that I always forget to use, like my Mac mini, only use it to do software updates now. I must admit the iPad is the most used of my apple products. I only use my iPhone for 2fa for when working for companies, I have had Mac 1U server G4s but never really used them because I do not like MacOS. I must try harder to like them. I think now I am near retirement I will buy my last iPad as my current one probably needs an update. But for me Windows 11 with WSL (Kali and OEL 9) is what is my daily drivers. Useful tips, Thank you.
Great, the tip with the arrowheads was new to me, I didn't know that yet! But what I'm still looking for my iPad 11" (USB-C) is a simultaneous connection option for (headphones + micro + charging socket). I would be very grateful for a tip or recommendation.
My iPad(s) (only ‘standards’) have been my main computer for over five years now. I’ve used them for everything, including music creation and production. I’ve felt exactly zero loss from my “do everything” Windows machines so no reason to spend twice as much for a MacBook for my purposes. Most folk imagine using an iPad is just an extra for their iPhone. For me, it’s the exact opposite: I barely use my iPhone except as a “tiny iPad” when I cannot fully utilize my iPad. Heheh! I know I’m in the extreme minority, but that’s my reality. 🙂 I was aware of some of these things, as I’m a fan of tabletop RPGs etc, and utilizing the iPad for notes of such, etc. Thank you for giving so much valuable info however! 🙂
Good video. I didn’t know about the features in the screen Shot editor, or making a PDF document from the files app. I’m curious as to why your iPad doesn’t have “Stage Manager” in Settings, Multitasking & Gestures “ I have an M1 IPad Pro 12.9 inch model, and I can multitask up to 4 windows with the Stage Manager feature turned on. I can have overlapping windows, resize any window, move the windows around (somewhat ) but Apple seems to override the locations on the windows. Anyway it allows me to have Safari, Mail, files, UA-cam or any 4 apps I want in a Stage Managed group of 4 apps.
Split keyboard is on the Pro as long as I can remember. Dunno what that Reddit post was all about. Or it even depends on your exact model. 10.5 inch here.
Thanks to for all your tips! I don’t get the option for full screen when doing the screen shot. Is there a setting I have to use to enable this choice?
1:49. Love your videos!! You speak very well to understand things. I have trouble with so many people who talk to fast. Your tips are fantastic! I plan to try them to make things easier. I especially enjoyed the scanning tip and the multi tasking. Need this badly. My sister is taking on a business and I will tell her your tips and to watch you. Last thing, I would like to know more about the shortcuts app. I have been using them but need help on some aspects. Thanks so much!!
The swipe down on the top row (keyboard) is very handy and also explained by sometimes I accidentally type a number. Now I know. The scan to PDF is really handy. Especially when my third-party scanning apps misbehave. The ability to turn a messy circle, square, or other basic shapes into a "perfect" shape is a great thing to know. The corner gesture is also very useful. However, the ability to press and hold the keyboard icon does not do anything on an iPad 6th gen. Glad I watched this video. I learned several new things today. Once I have spare mice, I will try the trick. Thank you.
I have a question and I’m hoping that you can help me. At night I turned my iPad off but in the morning when I wake up, my iPad is automatically on and I don’t know how every night I turn it off and when I go to use it. It’s halfway drained because it’s been on all night or whatever the case may be. Is there a fix for this?
This was brilliant. Scanning to pdf in Files just removed a particular app from all my ipads - always a good thing. I had no idea for most of your tips, and the few I was aware of, I had no idea of the refined tuning that could be done. Loved and sub’ed. I seem to be on my tablets constantly; this episode will save me so much time, as well as letting me do things I thought could only be done on MacOS.
Thank you so much. I would love a video on how to manage photos. I have so so many and don’t Know how to put them on a stick. I do have minimal cloud coverage but it is full. Thanks again.😊

As always….. very informative. At age 77, I don’t understand it all, but there is always something I find helpful.
Thanks for sharing !
We have something in common. I too am 77!!! 🙂

I doubt a 7yr old would understand either, theyve had it shown to them just like things you could do at 7 couldn’t be done by one today

Perhaps a goofy question, but can you use an iPhone 15PM as your webcam, either through USB-C or wirelessly, when on Teams on your iPad Pro 2022?
