Thank you so much. We have struggled with this heater, read and reread the instructions, and never understood it. I unplugged it for the summer and was not looking forward to turning it back on.
Thank you so much for making this video. My small heater in my 20 gallon betta tank quit on me and I panicked and had to get my bf’s heater from his old turtle tank. I can’t let my little Cinderella freeze to death
currently have an ich problem, and didn't know how to calibrate heater (was using red dial for temp). this video was extremely beneficial for a dummy tutorial, left me satisfied and saved a few bucks. thank you!
I am sick of mine! I've been given a cheap heater from a friend as I was sick of cooking my fish!! I have re calibrated it multiple times as per instructions, you and other you tubers... I set it at 27 and its 31 in no time... It's in mid flow of the current, not by airstones, it could always be faulty, I'll contact eheim to see what they recommend. You do explain things well though! Thanks! My fish appreciated your help, they did cook less...
I purchased new 70 Gallon aquarium back in 1978. At that time, I heard that EBO Jager was a good brand of aquarium heaters so, I purchased one. Fast forward to 2018. Well, my EBO Jager heater, after 40 years of "flawless" performance, finally died. Funny, the heater that I purchased to replace my EBO Jager (purchased it many years ago), has been very finicky wth the temperature setting. I am now looking for another EBO Jager. ;)
Been using an eheim jager 300w in my 75 gal now for 4 years never had a single issue temp is within 0.5 of set temp always used the jager series never had an issue with any of them
@@sweetscience1019 If left plugged in when removed from the tank, the glass tube could crack because there's no water to keep the glass tube from overheating.
yes don't do it people, i mistakenly pulled a heater out of one tank thinking it was unplugged it got so hot it melted the plastic trim around the top of the tank it was touching fire hazard
hi everyone.. I wanna ask: how long the heater should be turn on, in case to heal my fish from 'white spot'? I mean, should it turn on along the day or what? Thank you very much
@Chris Kibodeauxit is how it works look it up its been proven, also I have done it before. Ich parasite stops reproducing at 86 degrees. I literally watched it fall off my fish so If you keep saying "that's not how it works." you haven't a clue.
Hey Thomas, did EBO JAGER get bought out by Eheim? Hopefully not and hopefully Ebo J is still available. I have had absolutely NO luck with Eheim heaters (the red/blue ones) as I find they keep on shorting out or simply quit working. Ebo Jags were incredible heaters and I never had a problem with them... Never... Ever!
The system of this heater is complicated. You should just set the temperature with the indicator and you're done. There are versions that you have to lift that small lid with a screwdriver and others say that you just have to turn the back. I broke the lid trying to calibrate. I find it VERY complicated to calibrate.
To be fair to chelo I've never had issues with any other, I have had one of these and only had issues, maybe there are faulty batches? Mine is approx 6 degrees 'c off.
Say I had a 130 gal tank outdoors and a 300w eheim jager marked to heat up water up to 1,000 liters. Outside temperature doesn't vary much at night. Will it perform as desired?
Can you show how to calibrate eheim 3609. I purchased it 12 years ago and havent used for 10 years. But still functions not just sure if its still accurate.
question so you state that using to heaters for a large tank what would you recommend for a 90 gallon tank one heater or two, and also what wattage would you recommend per heater thanks
I’m trying to recalibrate mine it will not go below 80 no matter what I set it too. And when trying to recalibrate the red dial will not reach the temp that the thermometer is saying it’s heating too so how do I recalibrate it? I’ve been working on this for two weeks in a bucket I even changed the heaters out I have two of them an this one is the same no matter what you set it to it will only heat to 80 or 82 I’m trying to get it to 77 degrees what am I doing wrong?
I have a heater with no dile on it and the temperature is slowly rising Past 80 im not sure what to do about it, I was told to take it out but my brother told Me that yhen the water will get too cold.
Hey guys Iv had a 50 watt eheim heater in my 10 gallon tank for about 8 months now. I woke up this morning and the on indicator light isn’t on and my water feels colder than usual. Is there any way to fix this or is the heater broke?
Every heater I've bought say's put in tank for 30mins before plugging in.Unplug heater for 30min before taking out.Does the ehiem heater instructions say different?I Like the calibration feature.Fish On
I wondered about that too .. video just mentions removing and adjusting. Might have been worth mentioning to UNPLUG the heater first! I know they have auto-shutoffs but I don't trust them. I always unplug and wait a bit before removing. 30 minutes is a bit long, I usually wait ~ 5 minutes.
Best idea, two heaters, one EHEIM because the are very good, and one cheap that is a back up if the main one pooches. My buddy lost 6 fish after a single heater failure :(
Hello lovely people,I have set my eheim heater (200 watt for upto 400ltrs) to 29C. It heats upto 29 and then when the water temp drops to 27 or 26 then it starts heating again. What should I do to maintain the water temp at 29. My tank is 325ltrs. Do I need to recalibrate the heater. Thanks and a wonderful weekend ahead, Saif
well I just bought a brand new jager 125 watt n it wont turn off it sticks on I turned it to 18 tank was 26 n its heated it ti 30.4 so not using it best heater there no good it cost me over £20 iv had 3 heaters fail n 3 weeks a brand new eheim jager a 6 month old marina we water in it and a 200watt Trixie 8 month old one with mist in it and thee jagers u can oney calabrate them by 1 degree
matthew o'dea are you sure your thermometer isnt broken? I've found a lot of them (along with a lot of heaters) are extraordinarily unreliable. The marina one that sticks to the inside being the worst. Also are you keeping anything in the tank with the heater which could mess it up? I've had two marinas and aside from being bulky they've always been good but I also had a turtle who used to rip that thing off the wall and do god knows what to it. Both of them ended up sounding like they were going to explode any minute
Have you checked the water temperature with a thermometer - Is it too cold? If the heater is constantly on but the water is too cold then that heater is not powerful enough to reach the temperature you need in the tank it is in. You'll need a bigger heater.
This heater is terrible id recommend www.amazon.co.uk/Tetra-Aquarium-High-Performance-Different-Settings/dp/B003TL2A9G/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1516824035&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=aquarium+heater&psc=1
This video doesn’t address properly calibrating TWO heaters in one aquarium. Eheim uses this video as a reference on their website besides. I think pieces were left out of this video that are crucial to the proper and safe setup of the heater.
Hi . I just got the 150 watt version for my 200 liter tank . And no matter what i do it keeps heating all the time . It doen't help turning the blue dial. I wait for ten minuttes every time i adjust and have tried turning it all the way to each side . And it keeps warming and doesn't turn off? The temperature is about 28c . Room temperature is 21 c. And i don,t have any lights turned on atm . Is it broken or i,m i doing something wrong ?
Sorry but I don't understand the Eheim instructions and I also don't understand the instructions in your video. It doesn't make sense to me? Maybe I am just being dumb? What arrow or dial am I supposed to move to the temperature the water currently is? The one on the back won't move to that as there is something blocking it. It will only move left or right a few clicks. My temperature is 28°C (82.5°F) when I have selected I want it to be 27°C (80.6°F) so it is out by 1°C or almost 2°F difference.
Chris Kibodeaux you’re the moron. I keep seeing your writing here and every time you sound more stupid. These heaters are trash and you’re a dumb fuck. Stop harassing people and get a life
Thanks for the informative video Thomas. But Eheim make a very poor job in their heater quality, at least their newer models. I like their filters and pumps, but their heaters now are absolute trash.
Charles Watkins bought 4 brand new once me and the local shop set them up perfect 3 days later 3 failed and I lost 400 bucks in fish fuck these heaters all the company would do is replace the heaters not my fish that they killed. My local shop no longer sells them
the new fish guy yikes! Sorry to hear. I wouldn’t be happy either. I only have one so far and 2 fluval ones. I have read from a lot of people that the customer service is terrible.
Charles Watkins I have all fluval now I love them had em a year so far no problems yet. Yes the customer service for eheim sucks they won't ever see another dime of my money I lost the first fish I ever bought he was like my best friend he would follow my finger he would let me pet him but he's gone cuz of their heaters

Great! Thanks for watching!
Your explanations are always easy to follow. Love you, man. 😉
Love these...I use them for all of my tanks
Great video but I find that it doesn't allow the red arrow to go pass 26c as gets stop by the black paet of the heater.. anyone else gets this issue??

The water level is pretty low in my aquarium, any chance you can install in horizontally?
Big al... I just got one of these heaters from you. I’m wondering if I can put it in my aquarium sideways???
Ok, I have it figured out now!! No worries!!
best heater iv ever had is a fluval m100 oney 1 degree off n works a dream
I recalibrated this heater 2 times and the temperature is shooting up to 81. I have it calibrated to 77. Some one help
When it goes to 81 are your lights running? And does it drop at night?
David Ech I got it working now it’s all good
Does the heater have to be vertical as I was going to put mine in the sump at an angle
Thanks for posting this handy instruction video
You're welcome :)
NEVER remove your heater while plugged in. Unplug and let it remain in aquarium for 15 minutes before removing.
Why

How deep do you place the heater in the tank?
u basicaly have a minimum water lvl mark on the heater if wanted can be completely under water ...

Any thermometer will work. Digital thermometer are easier to read and provide quicker results.

Sometimes its best to get a bigger heater especially if you live in colder environment. Or get Two smaller ones of the same wattage.
