At the beginning of my hobby I used the stock Juwel heater in the filter. Almost every year I needed to buy a new one because of many issues: broken cable, always on heating, no heating...
When I bought a Jäger from Eheim and placed it freely in the tank, all my issues disappeared. Now I have it at least 8 years still going strong :D
The only issue I have is water condensation inside the heater, but is understandable after so much time.

I've use Jager heaters for over 26 years without a single failure except receiving one dead out of the box. My next purchase will be the Thermocontrol-E. I like all the new features.

Same here, I never had any issue with them. I broke I think 2 in more than a decades, but it was because it was out of the water, so that feature already been useful for me :P. I'm thinking to replace ALL my aquarium heater with this one.

Sir it says also that the jager has"With automatic dry run shut-off (Thermo Safety Control)" feature so did it realy exploded or the glass breaked on your jagers after exposure to air

Exposure to air. I read that too for the jager but in my experience it doesn't work with air, I don't know if they meant inside water only.

Hi! Thank you so much for making the review! I ended up getting the Thermocontrol.
I have a question that's been concerning me. When I was doing water changes, I accidentally left the water below the "minimum waterlevel" line for a few hours, but the glass tube was still fully submerged. Is this ok? Only 1/4th of an inch was exposed to the air, so I'm not sure if that was enough to trigger dry-running protection. Should my heater still be fine? I'm worried of any potential problems like residue or cracks. Thank you for your time!

The best hack for these heaters.
Is to buy aqua one heater suction cups clips.
All aquarium stores sell them as spare parts.
They grip the heater better and the suction cups last a lot longer.

I'm sure the price differences are because it is the old out dated one vs the new and improved. I'm sure they are going to phase out the Jager. and go to the Thermocontrol. I still have some of the old green Ehiem Jagers and they still work great.

And watched this one as well! Thank you. I have one question:
Does the Thermocontrol E get moisture inside over time? I have a Jager which has some moisture visible inside the heater, this has happened to a lot of my heaters, so much so that I consider it quite normal but it would be great if the new E model doesn't get this issue, thanks!

  • @Kevin-ok3sm
    @Kevin-ok3sm 2 роки тому +4

Great comparison! However bad tip on buying the higher watt heater of the same price. You want the appropriate watt heater for your tank, which is why they make different wattages! Oversized wattage can heat up your tank faster and cook your aquarium. In instances of heater malfunction, correct sizing have less chance of doing so because it takes longer to add heat-ideally one should get the lowest watt needed to heat the tank to desire temp. Moreover, appropriate watt heaters will last longer because it is not constantly turning on and off!-reason for heater failure according to Corey from aquarium coop.

I already disassembled a broken heater. The rough turn of the temperature is caused by the very long sealing gasket. The wheel even get more rough if the softener gone.
The light in the old heater is not a LED, it is a glow lamp which get the full supply voltage ( In Germany 230 Volt).
