I followed your video on growing cactus from seed about four months ago and now I'll be following this video on potting up! Based on one of your other videos, I won't be separating because they are still so young but I had grown in a 6 cell tray which was not a good idea. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and I'm thrilled with my new hobby! 🌵
Congratulations on your new skill! Warning, it can be addicting, 😄
I love those pinch pots, they look amazing, but the real star is that beautiful coffee mug you have, great video as always.
Hahaha! I love this mug, too. Makes me smile when I drink my coffee in the morning. 😊☕️ The pinch pots are unique. They add character to the plant.
Hello po ms.ana ang cucute po ng mga cactus nyo im watching ur video right now,ang nice nmn po pero mas mukhang masarap ung coffee mo po hehehe God bless u po.
Love your cacti cup. Amazing two headed cactus
Wow! I like your coffee mug. Nice. Greetings from the Philippines.
Those seedlings look so adorable in those pots!
I agree! And I had only 3 small pots so I when I found out that one gymno was double-headed, the 3 pots that I had was perfect! Thanks Cassie. 😃
Wow... Really nice sharing 🌵💚
First 😂 Great video Ana, loving those bigger four Gymnos, lovely form and look very healthy too. They look great in those pots as well. Thank you for sharing with us as always Ana, from Edith & myself, have a wonderful day and upcoming new week 🌵☀️🌼🌺🌸🏜☕️
😄
@@CactusCaffeine I’ll be back to edit my comment after I finish watching, Ana 😊🌵☀️🌺🌼☕️
I always wonder, what is so special with being the first to comment? 😂 Love the super cute seedlings and love the pots too. ❤️ Although i couldn’t find their website. 🤔
Great Seedlings, the Gymnocalycium Seedlings especially look amazing and healthy, and it might be difficult giving them a final ID as Gymnocalycium are so variable particularly species damsii (anisitsii)... Your seedlings have many traits of damsii, rotundulum, perhaps tucavocense and your 3 adult specimens are very bronzed red in the sun (particularly the bright red mihanovichii one) and the other two look a bit different, and the purple markings under the seedling's turbercles are there when they are young and are very variable again, you're right about the spine colours, they are a yellowy colour and change to paler grey as they mature, Gymnocalycium is a minefield of confusion, look forward to see how those seedlings change over time and they are amazing because you grew them from Seed and that is what counts 🤣
🤗 great video Ana!
👍🏻🌵😁🌵
Yes, although I hand pollinated them, they were out in my backyard so I’m sure bees 🐝 also played a role in forming the cactus fruits. Could have been a hybrid of several gymnos. 😄 I also have that Gymno damsii cv Purple Blush so that could have been a pollen donor, too. 😃 But I’m happy to see that they are starting to get the purple color, too. Thanks for watching and leaving your thoughts. 🙂👍🏼

I’m finally the #1 👍🏼!
You and Cactimania, tied! 😉
Very informative, and well organized. Again a great show. 🌹🎶🌹🎶🌹
Thank you Winston
The monstrose one is the reason I grow from seed! It makes the wait worth it
It was an exciting discovery! I hope I can make it grow. I’ve never seen a mature monstrose subdenudata. 🙂
Love the coffee cup!!
Your seedlings are very pretty and have grown a lot. I have little ones that I have grown from seed and they will need their first repotting soon. It takes love and patience to grow cacti.
Isn’t it fun? The waiting time at the start is the hardest. But when they start growing, next thing you know, you have dozens of new cacti! 😉
Blessed Sunday Ana!🌵🌵🌵
Hi Ana! It’s so much fun for plant parents to see seedlings move up to their next pot! They are so cute! Nice technique. I’m glad you didn’t separate the twins. Thanks for the demo! 🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵💕😃
You gave me the courage to grow lil babies from seeds! I’m excited to see their growth 🥰
Yes. You should try them sometime. 😃 They start slow and then they go on a growth spurt. Next thing you know, you have 2 dozens of a particular cactus! 😄
I get my lava rock and pumice from Bonsai Jack. He sells on Amazon and has his own website. It isn't cheap, but I like the results it gives. it is sieved to uniform size and washed to remove any dust. With every bag he sends me a stainless steel chopstick, which I find is a wonderful tool for transplanting seedlings. The ends are smoothly rounded and can go into small places where your fingers wont fit. It's especially good for pushing the soil down around the sides of the pot to prevent vacant spots. I use pumice instead of perlite because it is grey, not white. You can't mistake it for mealybugs and it looks more natural. My soil mix is basically the same one as used by Cactimania, except I can't get John Innes compost, so I use Coir bricks...
That’s good to know. I hear many growers order from Bonsai Jack. Yep, not cheap but I guess the quality is superb, that’s why. 😉 Pumice here is also hard to get. I got the one bag I have all the way from California so I use them only for my expensive cacti. Lol! 😄
I enjoy listening to your comments as you do your work. You always mention things that I had never thought of.
I pot mine earlier usually in groups of 7, to grow out, and they live together until they don't. But I love potting them like this, they finally become plants.
Very cute seedlings, Ana👌. I love your Gymnos. And that domino mother plant is huge! I think it was smaller in the last video I've seen it. Oh, and the monstrose I believe it can be a crested rather than monstrose (or maybe both things), it's a treasure 😜💕.
Hi Vanessa. Yes, the Domino cactus is getting bigger. I need to move it to a new pot too as the little offset at the bottom could hardly get out. The odd seedling is a cutie. I’m excited to see what becomes of it.😃
Twin? So cute 😍 💓 💗 I bought one package of seeds from Law's and they are coming up 👏👏
Super nice !🌵👍
Hello Ana, here i' am, a lot of greetings from Serbia !
Hi Denis! Thanks for stopping by once again. Greetings from Las Vegas!
Your seedlings are so cute! Love your mug too!
Happy New Year Anna . Thanks so much for showing your new babies. Here in Cincinnati Ohio its very cold:(. I'm not a winter person at all! I told my wife I want to move south where it's warm year round. But she want do it LOL . But you are awesome and thanks for all you do. God Bless.
Thank you, David for your nice words. I wish your winter will be a little warmer. I don’t like winter, too. But our winter here is better than our summer. 🥵 Cheers from Vegas to Cincinnati! 🙂☕️☕️
Amazing video! Wow soo those gymnos will all turn Red in colouration once they get older.
Yay love them all, your mug, pots, gymnos and subdenudata. You’ve got loads. Those little gymnos might flower already in summer. And amazing you’ve got weird looking seedlings, i like them a lot. I have to sow my seeds to get something like those. Thank you for sharing and have a great week a head. 💚🌵
Yes, it is so exciting to see what comes up when you sow seeds. The “little freaks” that you sometimes get makes it very rewarding. 😉 Can’t buy those kinds in stores. Thank you Katherine! I hope you are having a good winter.
They are growing great. I like to use food containers too. My faves so far just for carrying stuff around are Ihop to go black ones for burgers. I have to repot seedlings but mine are tiny. But they are over crowded. I love both those types. Forgot to say I'd still love to see you do a video on your mug collection. Yes you have a collection. You have more then 4 for the family.
Hahaha. It is not a mug collection. I just happen to have a few... 😉 I use food containers because I’m having a hard time finding the small 3inch pots suited for seedlings. A nursery here used to carry them but not anymore.
Cheers Ana
Thanks for stopping by! CHEERS! ☕️☕️
Thank you SO MUCH for this video! I was planning on repotting my seedlings next spring/summer
Me too! A lot more, just waiting for warmer weather. My list of tasks for spring is starting to grow. 😉
The markings on the young gymnos are cool
Adorable seedlings! Can't wait to use my pinch pots also haha.
You make it look so easy! Lovely rooted seedlings - looking forward to seeing how they grow. Thank you.
Thank you. Easy but a little tedious when it comes to the small ones. ☺️ Cheers from Las Vegas! 🌵☕️
I also use the pinched pots!
Perfect timing! Thanks for posting this! I just bought my first cactus seeds on eBay, a cactus called toothpick. I’m learning so much from you!
I can't wait for summer. I want to send you some of my hybrids
Are they your own hybrids?! 😀 The asclepiads you sent me are doing well. Im giving them more water and they seem to like that better. The cacti too seem to all have rooted firmly.
Let me specify 😅 Some of my Echinopsis hybrids and yes, my own hybrids
Ohhh.... 🥰
Great little plants Ana!! Great choice with the pinch pots!!! I'm a sucker for a great pot!! It can really make a plant stand out!!! The multi headed Echinopsis are very interesting!! I would definitely keep an eye on them!!! They might turn into something cool!!! Your seedlings are doing well. Had a little mold issue but sprayed and uncovered them . now they are fine!👍 I can't really do any transplanting right now as we are into the coldest part of winter. Except my new plants from home depot which I have under a light in the house. I will have to wait till spring! And I have a lot to repot!!! Looks like you have a mini subdenudata farm!!! hahaha!! From Morris park in the Ozarks , out to Las Vegas, have a great week ahead!!!! Peace,Love,Plants✌💖🌵🌸🌴🌷🌲🌻🌳🌺
All my seedlings are indoors right now so I’m able to repot them. But luckily, we have been having a mild winter here. In fact, some days it gets too hot in the mornings (upper 60’s) but night temperatures are still cold. The multi-headed seedlings will be exciting to watch. I hope they grow. 🤞 Thank you, Clyde!
Wow ! That red one is to die for !!! They remind me of some of the grafted moon cacti I’ve seen . But richer in color and not grafted . Wonder if they’re from the same family 🤔. Great video! So cool you grew the seeds from one of your own plants . 😊
The complete name of that red violet gymno is Gymnocalycium mihanovichii friedrichii. 😉 It’s one of my favorite. The color stays the same bright red-purple all seasons.
This is the precise species they use for grafting. When they produce pups with no chlorophyll, they have to be grafted to survive apart from the mother plant.
I love your videos. Very informative!
Glad you like them!
Just found your channel. Nice little pots.
Hi and welcome! Keep in touch. 🙂
I remember watching so many of your videos on growing a cactus from seed, and i recently found out one of my cacti had dried seed pods so i got the opportunity to try it myself, currently day 1 of the cactus seeds in a moist environment, really hoping they are able to germinate
Have they germinated by now? Good luck 🍀👍🏼 🙂
Cool. ✌😆🌿
I don't trim roots, but I wash all old substrate remnants.
Thanks for sharing! We all have our own ways, whatever works for us. 😉
Ann love your videos , you are the person that brought me back to cacti . Where are you getting seeds I need some copiapoa seeds any ideas .
Try Mesa Garden. Also in the pinned comment section under my “How to Grow Cactus from Seed” video, there are a few more website suggestions. Thank you for your kind words. Good luck!
Hello Ana again wonderful video!! I have purple o es but crafted! Once they are grafted can you take them off and let them get their own roots?????? Your three mama plants were so amazing g to see! Tks for the tips! Do you sell? If so let us know! I have not done seedlings yet but I’ll try this summer! Tk you always for ur videos
Purple grafted gymnos have a good chance of growing in their own roots. Although I have not tried de-grafting one, I have a few purple ones that are growing in their own roots... In fact, my next video will feature them. 😉
Thanks for another informative video, Ana! Cool seedlings! I want to try growing cacti from seeds. When is the best time to sow seeds here in Las Vegas?
If you keep them indoors, anytime. Outside, you can only keep them during our spring in Vegas. The rest of the year, it is either too hot or too cold or too dry for them.
@@CactusCaffeine ok, thank you! I’ll start them indoors. Nakabili ako ng cactus last November that already had fruits and I watched your previous video on how to harvest seeds 😁
I notice the gymnocalycium is a little yellow... do you know why is that? I ask because mine is also yellow I don’t know what’s her problem
Love your videos !
Are you referring to the big Domino cactus? That is a little bit sun-scorched. I have it outside under morning sun in my backyard. I should move it to a shadier spot. If you notice, the young pup growing underneath, it is more green as it is more protected from direct sun. 🙂
What is the other parent of your echinopsis? I notice the seedlings have lots of spines compared to the mother. I have dominos and pups with no spines and other similar with spines? I’m curious if those will end up with different flowers like maybe purple like Easter lily or something?
Oh, it is also another Echinopsis subdenudata. I have 2 of them that flowered at the same time. But then again, the bees may have done something else. 😁😉. My subdenudata had longer spines when it was young. Then the became shorter as it matured.
@@CactusCaffeine oh ok I didn’t realize that they did that. Good to know!
𝙳𝚊𝚖𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚜𝚎𝚎𝚍𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚐𝚜 𝚋𝚎𝚔𝚎 𝚗𝚎𝚖𝚗 𝚌𝚑𝚊𝚛𝚘𝚝
How long will that cactus start blooming? Years?
How much do you water the tiny ones? I'm guessing just a few drops on each one?
I get them very wet. And then let them dry out for a couple of days before I resume watering. Seedlings prefer more water than a matured cactus.
@@CactusCaffeine Thank you
Is it okay to repot in winter?
It is not the ideal time of the year but if you keep them indoors, then it is ok. 🙂
Hiiiii
can i buy any cactus am near rainbow n 95 ?
Sorry, I don’t sell my cactus. 🙂
@@CactusCaffeine omg you have so many what do you do with all?
#3 Hahaha
You guys are funny! 😄
